We had a wedding in Bancroft and didn't want to drive home after. We knew it was a hostel and that we wouldn't have a private bathroom so we knew we shouldn't be expecting a 5* accommodation or anything. We just didn't want to spend a lot of money. We LOVED the staff! They were SO friendly. Ron and Cindy made a delicious pizza. We sat out on the patio and had some beers, pizza and watched the rain. There was a common room with tons of movies but we didn't end up watching anything as we were too tired. The place creaks a lot and definitely has a few quirks. It was tidy but not overly clean feeling, but it has a lot of character and a cool vibe. It kind of felt like we were staying at someone's house. Anyways it's great if you're not too picky and looking for a nice place that isn't too pricey. The employees alone made us want to come back. They were so lovely.

First off you get quite the impression as you walk up to this beautiful, bright PURPLE building. Then you go inside and you feel like you've stepped back in time a couple decades, we felt a funny sense of "being at home-ness". We were greeted with a smile, lovely staff. We had the pizza which was the best in the galaxy I can confirm. Highly recommend, well be going back whenever we're back up in the area!

Great pub! Friendly staff, good music, tons to do, pool tables, dart boards, foosball, games for the kids. Good choice of drinks too!

What a great place to play pool, ping pong and darts. The service was excellent. The pizza was delicious! Very welcoming atmosphere. Hopefully they will bring back live music soon.

I've been coming here since the early 2000's. It is a well equipped and comfortable hostel with a northern Ontario quaintness. The rates are very reasonable, even for a private, large room outfitted with a couch. I'd love to see a fire pit added to the amenities. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the building is clean. I've always been able to find a room here whenever I've needed one. This is excellent basic accommodation without frills or luxuries. Be prepared that the stores in town close early, by 6pm (even the gas station) so if you are arriving later than that, stock up prior to arrival. The hostel does have some pantry items available for sale for good prices. Things for the owner to consider: improve the shower on the third floor, oddly there is no cold water coming out of any taps for filling drinking water, and add a freezer for travellers ice packs. Overall though, none of the things to consider would stop me from recommending this hostel to budget travellers.

It's a blast from the past. Great retro feel, awesome music playing. Stopped in for a quick drink. The staff are really nice. If you're in the area, it's worth stopping in.

Google keeps asking me to rate this location. I was not there but read all reviews and looked at the photos. I would definitely stay there if I needed a place in the area! @Google: Please stop asking me for reviews of places I have not been to, or at least give me the option to select something like "I wasn't there."

I've sampled most of the menu now and everything is top notch ! The pizza is so very delicious, and loaded with toppings making it very filling as well and worth every penny. Ron and Roland are always very friendly and welcoming , couldn't ask for a better local . Also free pool !!!!

Just moved up to the area from Gravenhurst & decided to order a pizza for the night. The restaurant is hard to miss & would without a doubt say it’s the best pizza I’ve had in a long time! Highly recommend it!! Will definitely be returning

Only thing that sucks is that it's not more busy! Great spot, great people and extremely reasonable prices. Have had a lot of fun times there

Fantastic place. We stayed for two nights, explored the local art shops and went to Algonquin park for day trips. The Arlington is comfortable, the staff and locals are super friendly, helpful and truly authentic people. Make sure you grab some food and a beer at the restaurant/pub, it tastes amazing and you definitely get what you pay for!
