It’s been a while since I’ve been at Matsuda. It’s been at least 3 years due to pandemic. Came on a weekend it’s $44 plus 15% service charge plus tax. The food quality is say have remain the same. But the ordering experience is a bit annoying, you can only order off one person’s phone.-they got ride of their iPads. Be careful when you pay the bill the over charged us because the cashier decided to round up so everyone paid $0.50 more I mean it’s not a lot it it’s kinda cheating your customers when you already charged them 15% tip.

First time again visiting this place due to pandemic but it was worth it. The food quality is amazing compared to the other branch, service was quick and everything tasted fresh.. the price went up but that was understandable. They don't make you feel rush so they can accommodate more customers.. we took our timing and enjoyed our dinner. I highly recommend this place for a great all you can eat Japanese cuisine.. 👍

My first Japanese winter treat in Canada which I enjoyed dearly with my friends and colleagues. I was expecting a Japanese greetings when we came in but I noticed that the staff barely speak the language. Covid-19 protocol was observed. Job well done. Diners should be ready with their the latest vaccination receipt and a government ID to be seated. For a buffet, food are served family style, brought by staff on each table. Service was fast though. I have enjoyed most of the dishes served. I also like that they made some soup fusion, like the Kimchi soup. I love the tempura dishes from ebi to vegetables as well as the different variety of sushi. The ramen were good and the desserts are fabulous. Staff should be a little bit attentive and friendly. But overall, it's commendable.

My family and I went right when they opened yesterday (April 9th, 2022) at 3pm. We ordered pretty typical things except maybe the B&B yogurt was the only atypical item (not sure if that was the issue or not). We got home and at different times, we all got sick with nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea, which we figured was food poisoning. I frequented many AYCE sushi places without issues and I've also eaten here before with no issues as well, but just this time, as I'm writing this review, we're all recovering from sickness. Also one of the first menu items we ordered was the beef tataki, yet it was one of the last items to come right before dessert and seemed freshly defrosted. Not sure if that was the issue either, but there's a lot of contenders. I've attached some images of what we ordered and hopefully everyone who ate here yesterday is okay.

Really enjoyed it. Even with all you can eat the quality was still very good. I enjoyed all of it and it was amazing. Would highly recommend.

Nice and delicious restaurant. The staff are focused on fast delivery of the ordered food and picking up of empty plates. They could bit a tad more friendly but they hustle so much that the lack of friendliness, greetings, or chit chat is ok. The place is clean, the food is fresh and delicious. Parking at the rear of the building is plenty but sometimes hard to get to depending on the traffic coming in and out of the parking lot. Don’t eat for 12 hours before going… you’ll want to order EVERYTHING! And order at least 2 deserts per person. Their deserts are tiny.

I came here with my whole family and we had a great time at the teppanyaki table! Our chef was so friendly and he made sure my baby niece was well taken care of. He even took the time to cut her food into smaller pieces so the baby could chew the pieces. How thoughtful!! The AYCE sushi also came out super fresh, the ika, sake and the fish roe sushi were some of my fav dishes. Highly recommend Matsuda if you want a fun teppanyaki experience with friends and family. We all walked out very full and happy. Would definitely be back just for the AYCE.

Matsuda is a pretty good Japanese restaurant. They consist of options such as: All you can eat (40$ per person), a live Teppanyaki table or you can simply order off the menu. Over all Mastuda satisfies your cravings for some Japanese food. However I felt as if the quality of the food varies from the all you can eat and the order off the menu options. At Mastuda you order off an I-Pad, and if you choose to do all you can eat, you will be ordering frequently. The food usually arrives fast with the rare instance of the order either being ghosted or taking upwards of 20 minutes to arrive. Some of your orders may also not maintain a consistent level of quality. Due to the all you can eat portions being ridiculously small your table may get flooded with minuscule plates and bowls as you eat. The I-Pad system is fine and works relatively well, but it also adds a unique feel and atmosphere to the restaurant. Matsuda has dimmed lighting and a sushi bar visible as you eat, it really feels as if you are genuinely in Japan. From the dining options to the food and atmosphere, its a pleasure having a meal at Mastuda.

I've been to this restaurant 4 times now for all you can eat. Every time that I've gone, the food has been tasty and nicely presented. The seafood is fresh and the cheese wontons (called golden flower on their menu) are delicious. The price is fair, considering that they have a large assortment of items on their menu, the quality of the food is great and you can order as much as you want. I also like that Matsuda offers several options for dessert because most of the all you can eat restaurants that I've been to have only 2-3 dessert choices.

I would recommend this restaurant if you are looking for a decent options of sushi! The quality of their food, especially their beef is a lot better than most AYCE restaurants! I like the fact that the servings were not too big so you are able to try most of what’s in their menu. Servers were nice. Approachable, friendly and quick. They have a 15% gratuity added on bill but they tell you right ahead. I can’t speak for everyone but this works for me as I usually tip within that range when I eat out. The only reason I gave 4 stars is that I find that in some of the items, they are putting a sweet sauce on top that for me is a bit strong. It makes the taste of the food very similar to each other. Rather than that, I would definitely come back!

Good quality sushi and sashimi for all you can eat sushi. I would recommend sticking to regular sushi and sashimi as I found the rolls are heavily covered in sauces. Service was a little bit slow and the meats (shrimp, steak, etc) were definitely overcooked. Overall pretty good price and quality for an all you can eat place.

So... I have had good experiences on previous visits but yesterday (Nov 15 2023) not so good. The teppanyaki show is good and the potion size is above average. It's a decent value but only barely so. The food taste is OK. The service is problematic. 1) The menu via QR code is quite difficult to navigate and the staff seems to know it from the comments they were muttering as they tried to assist us with it. The teppanyaki didn't start until a half hour after arrival. The shrimps were good, the bacon wrapped mushrooms were not. The chicken and steak were adequate... the steak was nicely presented but lacked flavour. The fish was the best. The sushi and sashimi seemed fresh and was tasty, too. Bottom line: I will likely go elsewhere the next time I crave teppanyaki. Total cost for 2 without booze was $125.

I personally don't like AYCE Japanese food but this one is a decent one. It is $45 PP but I had my stomach full. Sushi is actually better than Sashimi. Lots of cooked food. I recommend this place, this one is located in North York.

I've been coming here since before the pandemic and things have definitely changed up. Before, I'd probably have given Matsuda 5 stars - that's how much I enjoyed the unique AYCE sushi and teppanyaki experience. But there are definitely some things that have changed for the worse. First off, I don't think I would ever come here for just sushi AYCE. Since the teppanyaki option comes with AYCE sushi, we did try a small selection of the sushi menu while the chef was getting ready. I didn't love anything we ordered - the torched salmon, unagi sushi and green dragon roll all had crazy amounts of rice. Like 25% more rice than I'm used to in a bite. It simply did not taste good. The sashimi was decent for AYCE but not as fresh as I remember. The teppanyaki part was still a treat and I have fewer complaints about that. As always the chef is professional and skilled and will cook the food properly. They have changed up the menu a bit, since I don't remember tofu or short ribs ever being part of the teppanyaki set. I didn't particularly enjoy either of the additions. But my favorites (as always), were the chicken, sirloin steak, shrimp and salmon. They do try to fill you up on larger quantities of the (in my opinion) cheaper foods, such as the white fish and fried rice. I did end up ordering seconds of my favorites but was genuinely too full to enjoy it from the amount of rice in my sushi earlier. One thing I'll note that was better this time - the service was actually quite prompt and accurate. A lot of reviews say the service isn't good but I found it very pleasant when considering the number of people that were dining the day I went. Finally, price - it's now $44 a person on weekdays and even more for weekends. That's crazy! I definitely cannot justify that based on the amount I can eat. I could pay under $50 and get a better a la carte experience elsewhere. Do not come to Matsuda expecting to eat your money's worth - you're paying for the experience, which I admit is worth a bit in itself. There is a 10% cash discount so it ended up being $51 pp including the automatic service charge and tax. The discount is very nice so I'd recommend bringing cash. I'd also recommend making a reservation if you come near a holiday or weekend, as it was a quoted 45 min wait for AYCE sushi tables and I doubt any walk-ins were available for teppanyaki when we arrived. Edit: Also want to mention, please tip your teppanyaki chef if you enjoyed their service!

The ingredients are very fresh and the service is very good. The food is served very quickly, and the waiters are very responsive to the needs of the guests. The environment in the store is very good, and the atmosphere is also very good. The restaurant also has ample parking space. highly recommended! The price is well worth it!

We had all you can eat tenpanyaki and the value is unbeatable. Normally it cost 35 plus for 1 choice of meat but 45 dollars you have steak, chicken, beef rib, duck breast, 2 kind of fish and shrimp. Plus sashimi, tempura and dessert. The food itself is decent but not top quality.

I’m not a big fan of AYCE, but it’s a great budget controller when you go out with a large group. You’ve also get to taste all the different type of food that you don’t normally order with a la carte.

We went here for a date night and really enjoyed it. The portions were large and the food was very tasty. The fire show with the food definitely had us hypnotized. We were in a smaller group and enjoyed the service. The tip is already included in your final bill, but you can ask to remove it... but why would you? You are literally there for good food and a show.

My first time here and first time having teppanyaki. All I can say is wow! The food was fantastic, how chef was hilarious, the ventilation inside was superb, couldn't even tell there was any smoke coming from the hot plate.. we had tried as much as we could and loved almost all of it. Highly recommend this place, especially if you like all you can eat!

I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking a good all you can eat (ayce) Japanese Cuisine. They have a lot of food options in the menu ranging from sashimi to deep fried vegetables and the serving portion is just enough. The best part of the menu is the variety of options for dessert. You can really they use good quality ingredients and the flavor of their food is really good. The price is okay as you really get the best for what you paid for.

A nice place to visit. You will find their price of their Teppanyaki All You Can Eat super reasonable (and even highly competitive) having regard to the increase in food prices. The food quality is consistent. This seems to be trademark of the Matsuda / Pine House restaurant group. The size of the sashimi seems smaller than before. However, this is understandable because of crazy inflation over past few years. This can be mitigated by ordering another round. The place is clean. The attendants and the chef in charge of the Teppanyaki are friendly. A first choice for those who are looking for affordable prime Japanese all you can eat.

Went for late Mother's day/bday picked the teppanyaki ayce dinner. Overall was a great experience. Food fills you up fast so barely touched the ayce menu side. Also had to keep looking for our waiter to order from the menu instead of just doing it on the ipad yourself. Probably to control waste and there isnt much space to put a everything. Our cook was great. Was more entertaining back then though. Family loved it, that's what matters to me

The seafood was fresh and the meat was flavorful. Their mango yogurt is a must-try!! If you prefer entertainment and performances from the chef, make sure to get here early when they just start their shift (the chef get tired later at night). Overall a good place to enjoy with your family.

It was so yummy. We were so full after eating such tasty food. Oh my goodness we got the works 😅 Expect to be served a lot of meat and seafood and seconds if you get teppanyaki

Very good AYCE Japanese place in Toronto. Sashimi is fresh and sushi has the right portions, not too much rice like other places. The hot pot dishes are also very yummy. Highly recommend!
