Update: I've eaten from here more than 5 times now and am sad to say that my initial experience didn't continue. Portions got smaller very fast(the amount of salmon in each spicy salmon was much less and all crunch.) I guess I was lucky the first 2 times. The spicy tuna I ordered today had no tuna in it. Seriously, I'm actually shocked... Original: I love this place. The sushi is fresh and delicious. The staff are very friendly. It's worth the price, so you should try this place out.

BEST EVER sushi roll! Went there three times, every dish every roll everything was so perfect. The combination of flavours from all ingredients and mayo crab was amazing. Each ingredient is fresh, and yet you can clearly tell them apart in a roll, but at the same time they binds so well! Don’t know how they do it, favourite sushi roll so far. 这家店yyds，喜欢蟹肉棒绝对不要错过

Gem of a place tucked away off of Yonge. I was introduced to this gem of a spot by a colleague who frequents this place. We ordered her favourite dishes and they sure didn’t disappoint. Creamy miso pasta IS creamy as the name suggests. It’s very heavy and is recommended it’s shared (preferably between 3-4 people to get a taste of it). The sweetness of the sauce threw me off a little bit nonetheless it’s a unique dish and a must try. Tuna nori taco was amazing. One must have a taste to really appreciate its goodness. Black dragon was standard but the roll is massive so it’s worth your money. Salad and soup were meh at most.

Came for a week night dinner pretty full but got a seat. Had to try the Taco and wasn't disappointed at all. It was very crispy and quite big. Lots of filling and it tasted great big chunks of salmon. We also got the press, sushi, salmon, and shrimp. And it was OK nothing out of the ordinary. We also got the sushi assorted. And it was very fresh and also tasted very yummy. I do recommend this place. And we'll be coming back for more.

Their service is super excellent. Absolutely love the staff, they are attentive. Great portion and highly fresh fish. the Taco is surprisingly good. Also Love the decoration of the plate. Highly recommend for sushi and non sushi lovers. Looking forward to the next time!

This is our favourite sushi place of all time. The ambience, the food, the service is all top quality! This is our go-to sushi place if we are craving or want to introduce our friends and family here. The maki sushi are so big I can't go to a normal sushi place anymore, haha. Like, each piece of the sakura roll is as big as my fist. But it's both quantity and quality, the taste is so rich in flavour and the fish tastes so fresh. Our favourite item to order is their Creamy Miso Pasta. Everyone we have recommended it to love it as much as we do. It's so rich in flavour. I can never get a picture of their sushi tacos because we also eat them so fast but they are another must-try item on the menu. The interior is so aesthetically pleasing, the ambience is perfect for a date night, a group get together or to catch up with family. The staff are also very friendly.

Fantastic sushi place! Their plating is amazing and they offer a wide variety of selections. Not to mention, the quality of the sushi/sashimi is top notch. To add on, the servers are all so friendly and kind. Would definitely recommend!

We ordered sushi for our birthday! It was one of the best we’ve ever had, but they should decrease the amount of mayonnaise in their pasta and poke bowls because it was too much. We had a great time eating them!

Food is so well prepared, tasty and well presented. I enjoyed every bite! Service is impeccable. Waiter was so attentive and ready to make feel comfortable after I told her it was freezing inside. They apparently need to keep it cold in the kitchen, for the sushi fish, but i think they could fix the are whete its kept, rather than the dining area. I am very cold but would love to come back and bring friends, with a heavy sweater 😄 Well done, the place is nice as well

Overall it was a great experience. I enjoyed every single bite. The creamy shrimp pasta was to die for. It's a must try. They did not sever the lunch menu on weekends so it's little on the pricy side. But totally worth it.

Hay Sushi is the best sushi I've ever had. I've never encountered even any fishiness in any dish. Each creation is a testament to their commitment to freshness and precision in preparation. The waitstaff exude a level of respect and kindness that truly sets this place apart. Today, I decided to indulge in their "Family Pack" Meal featuring the Sukiiyaki Pasta, and it was an absolute delight. The culinary journey commenced with a delightful serving of Edamame and Salmon Nori Taco. The Edamame provided a perfect prelude, priming the palate for the gastronomic marvels that followed. The Salmon Nori Taco, with its harmonious blend of crunch and succulent fresh fish, was nothing short of exquisite. I wholeheartedly recommend it. Next up was the Sushi platter, a symphony of flavors comprising Nigiri Sushi (10 pieces), Oshi Sushi (8 pieces), Atlantic Gate Roll (8 pieces), and Spicy Salmon Roll (6 pieces). Each morsel was a testament to the impeccable freshness and artful presentation. A solid 10/10 on the taste scale. And finally, the Sukiiyaki Pasta graced our table, capping off the meal in flawless fashion. The noodles were impeccably cooked, with just the right balance of seasoning and meat to elevate the dish. Rest assured, they never skimp on the generous portions of fish or meat in any dish. To sum it up, if you find yourself in the Sherppard Yonge Area, a visit to Hay Sushi is non-negotiable. It's a culinary experience that deserves nothing less than a perfect 10/10 rating. TLDR: come give it a try, you wont regret it

It's rare to see good sushi restaurants amongst the gazillion restaurants in Toronto. Hay sushi has very unique dishes that are different from other boring restaurants. I can tell the ingredients are fresh and well-managed. The sushi and tempura are so good. I also loved the mushroom and eggplant pasta. I know it sounds weird a sushi restaurant has pasta but trust me, it's really yum. The servers and cook are kind and generous 😊 for sure I will be your regular customer!

Hay Sushi has a number of unique offerings that really set them apart from the other sushi restaurants in the area. From sushi tacos, wafu pasta, poke and more traditional options like sushi there's something for everyone here. I ordered their special sushi set from the moriwase menu, creamy miso pasta and salmon nori taco. Having ordered take out I was surprised how well these dishes held up during transportation. The sushi was well balanced and very fresh, it had a variety of torched pressed sushi and non torched ones in this set. The pasta was incredibly creamy and the taco was quite creative as it had different textures with the crispy seaweed "taco" exterior and good fish and rice ratio inside. I didn't get a chance to dine in this time but I'll definitely come back to try their other options. Their interior is quite warm and modern much like their menu. It's a perfect spot fora date too! Their service was quick and friendly as well.

Very interesting Japanese fusion menu! I would say my favorite thing to order is the 'Set Dinner' Wafu Pasta + Salmon Sushi Taco. I've never been to a place with Japanese style pasta, and I really love their creamy miso spaghetti! The tacos are quite well proportioned as well! The nori shell is crisped to perfection. If you're looking for something new and fresh, this is a great spot to visit. Highly recommend!

Such a little gem in North York for deliciously fresh sushi, nori tacos, tempura and Japanese style pasta!! This place should be talked about more! I thoroughly enjoyed everything and will be back for their nigiri! I love all the variety and everything tasted fresh. The nori tacos was something i enjoyed way more than i expected. The seaweed shell was deep fried and the taco was piled with chunks of salmon. The sukiyaki pasta as okay. Not my fave and not the best but we at everything and enjoyed it. The tempura was definitely a great pick. It was super crispy with tons of variety (different veggies and of course shrimp!)

May 2021. Food is very good. Price is slightly on the higher side, but still reasonable. The sushi itself is quite fresh and not like the standard sushi restaurants, they have a good selection of unique fish. Had the 4 person combo and a special set, all were very good and very well presented. If I had to choose which I liked the most, the special set was the best given the combination of fish varieties. For the worst, probably the fish tacos as the skin was no longer crunchy with take out. Overall, No complaints at all.

I’ve dined at Hay sushi a couple times. highly recommend taco, sushi party tray and pasta everything :) One of the best restaurants in Toronto for sure! Each items were a factastic. Their steak taco is one of the best I’ve ever had. Really high quality fish and fresh. I was lucky to have the Otoro sushi🥰 They took care of all the tables and responded kindly even though they were busy. Very great service and friendly as well. I recommend making a reservation!

Excellent family dining experience. The Noritakos alone were a total sensation. It has a traditional look with fusion food. Sushi was next level. Pasta was new and different. Overall worth the visit.

Sushi was fantastic and fresh! The special sushi set offered a variety of unique fish/seafood and their signature rolls were great as well. Highly recommend the Atlantic gale as the sushi pieces were big. They also have Sapporo on tap which was refreshing. Service was good too and it was a relaxing atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Food was quite delicious but wouldn't say it was amazing or mind blowing. The menu items have a fusion spin to it. The sushi was pretty typical but quite pricey for what you get. Service could be improved upon. Server missed two of our orders and it was pretty difficult to wave down someone during the busy times. Would go back again but too pricey for the quality to be considered as a regular spot.

If your looking for nice clean sushi that's a cut above everywhere else, this is the spot. SO fresh. Better than sushi Moto, Excellent service and hi quality sushi that's worth every penny.

Came here for lunch one day. We were maybe 5 minutes early and there's already a small line up behind us. Service and atmosphere were great. But the star was definitely the food. I ordered a chirashi don and it was loaded with fresh sashimi. I love that it came with seaweed and I was able to make little wraps with those. I'll definitely be coming more often. It's such a little gem in North York.

Food and service are both great. For quality that the sushi has, the price is reasonable. Also, the waiters and atmosphere is really nice. My girlfriend made an off handed comment that it was a bit too cold and I noticed the waitresses turning down the ac for us. I'll definitely come back again!

A solid spot for sushi near Yonge/Sheppard. The interior is cozy and spacious, has almost a Wes Anderson film vibe. The staff were friendly and attentive. The food was amazing. We got the sushi party tray which had a variety of high-quality premium pieces of nigiri. We also got the spicy salmon sushi tacos which were super delicious, with a lightly fried seaweed shell and ample portions of spicy salmon and rice. All in all a great experience, look forward to coming back to try their other menu items!

Ordered delivery via Uber Eats. It’s nicely packed, thus the food arrived neatly in the containers. Sashimi are fresh with good quality and generously cut. The sushi rice are well prepared with a good balance of acidity. Price is a little on the high side, but still reasonable. Will try to dine in after the pandemic.

This place is amazing. The quality is great and the flavour as well. The staff are very kind and service was quick. Everything we had was good both times we've been here. The flavour of the spicy salmon was uniquely good here and worth mentioning. The tuna sashimi was really good and definitely my favourite of the sashimi. I will be coming back here often.

Amazing service from beginning to end. The sushi is good for its value. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants a casual sushi dinner. Thank you for serving us and we did enjoy our meal. Kudo to one of the waitresses we didn't know her name with a bright smile all the time.

My go to place ! I can hear lots of uber sounds with fully seated tables and lots of to-go orders everytime I visited. Nevertheless, I appreciated the servers being so friendly and caring. My favorite is Japanese style Taco. It's really unique and tasty. Every meal is awesome, tasty and fresh, so I couldnt stop eating.

Hay sushi is a sweet spot when you want better quality sushi than basic sushi franchises and want to dine-in for good service but not with the price point of super fancy snazzy sushi/ omakase places. Their sushi tacos are what's making me come back because you won't get it from elsewhere (or at least I haven't found good ones). We also tried their Atlantic rolls which was soo good that we forgot to take a picture. It got quite busier when we visited, there were only two servers on the floor but they were very attentive:)

I love here!!!!!❤️ I order sashimi on uber eats. The price is little higher then other place but when I got my order, I'm really shocked cuz it's very very FRESH!! And various fish in only one box!! The price is worth. Next, I tried dine in. Server let me know the Uni is special dish and it's limited. I never disappointed it was really good and I order most popular dish in here. Everything is speechless. Server was friendly and makes me happy. Definitely recommended !!!!

We ordered the party tray and were surprised by its wide variety and freshness. Great great food at great price and the staff is also very friendly :) Do yourself a favor and visit this lovely restaurant!

Salmon Nori Taco was excellent: fresh, well-balanced flavors and crispy seaweed shell. Sushi rice was perfectly seasoned, and thin onion slices added a nice touch. Tuna Poke bowl was also solid, with generous toppings and a balanced rice-to-toppings ratio. Excellent service: attentive, patient, and helpful. Pleasant atmosphere.

Sashimi is amazing, just didn’t have uni when I went but the tune belly was amazing. The sushi tacos were also amazing as well. Ordered the spicy salmon nori taco and it did not disappoint, had a lot of rice but it also had a lot if salmon as well. The wait time is also generally pretty good. Usually get seated almost instantly people dont stay here very long. Great place to have take a date to.

Food was pretty good. Probably a gem in the north york area. Taco’s were refreshing idea. Noticed some sweet flavours, catering to the younger crowd. Futomaki was very good. Used a variety of fish and ingredients which made it special. Could lose the ginger in the futomaki for enhanced flavours from the good ingredients used. I requested for less rice, they did follow the orders and provided just enough. Couple of improvements recommended. - use better napkins - the spray used to clean the table has some strong scent. Would normally be pleasant however I wish they’d use a milder one as the scents deter away from the food experience. Overall very nice place. Best wishes.

Great food, excellent service. They have some cool dishes, although we didnt get to try the tacos this time. The Maki party tray was good. Big pieces on the sashimi tray too. The chicken karaage was ok, not great. Would also be great if they had an udon dish or some hot noodle soup dishes for kids as some of our kids don't eat raw meat, didnt quite like the karaage so there wasnt a lot for them to choose from. overall we'd definitely come back here though!

Came here twice with different size groups, and both times staff were very nice and accommodating, service is great in general. We tried many of their menu items, and the fish has always tasted fresh for the nigiri, sushi, and tacos. The pastas are also extremely tasty, and the party trays are good value. Overall, the menu is pretty well priced for what you receive, and I would definitely come here regularly for Japanese food due to its convenient location.

Best sushi joint in the neighborhood. Lunch specials are amazing (value and quality), plus it's available on weekends! Huge plus is eco conscious takeout containers.

Love the sushi here. And the tacos. And the chicken karagge. And the party platters :) The presentation is really unique too, would recommend the party platters for a special occasion. Plus they'll wrap it in cloth if you buy the set!

Sashimi are fresh and the portion is generous. Atlantic gate Roll have great taste and they give you real crab meat instead of imitation ones! Taco was good but the fried seaweed is a bit too oily.

Hands down, the best sushi I have had in the longest time! Everything is fresh, beautiful presentation of the food, attentive staff and just an overall a great experience. Will definitely be returning!

Ordered the sushi 12 pc set, the yuzu salmon oshi and the yuzu scallop roll, which I highly reccomend. The fish was really fresh and everything was super tasty. Nothing too special but nonetheless, a decent sushi restaurant w good service. Would return!

They are using black tiger shrimp for Ebi mayo and it is perfectly cooked. Must try Bluefin Tuna! I had otoro and it tastes like beef. Their food presentation is so nice, I can't stop taking a picture. They have sakes as well. I believe Hay sushi is a perfect place for perfect date night who wants to treat loved one with perfect food and sake!
