We just didn't have the choice, I wish Cineplex add more Indian movies, this place is terrible, the audio quality isn't good, the escalator is always out of service, and I witnessed an old lady struggling to walk through the stairs! Food and beverage quality 3/10 overall very bad.

Not crowded at all this theater though it screens all Indian cinemas. Only 2 person are working at this entire place. Place looks like empty everywhere roaming. Though theater is in city limits in main area of Richmond hill, the theater looks something odd.

One of the worst movie theatre in GTA.. It was my first time to watch a Hindi movie here and the experience was pathetic.. The theatre was very small compared to Cineplex. It was almost full, so I got 2 seats in the bottom 4th row and literally we felt like we were sitting on the ground to watch the screen on top of us(check the pics I added to get a clear idea). The seats were also uncomfortable, in a bad condition. All of a sudden the movie stopped in between due to technical issue and we waited almost 15 mins to restart. The toilets were pathetic, not at all maintained. Please do not book your tickets if you find seats in bottom 5-6 rows, you’ll suffer from neck pain for sure. I don’t understand why do they charge so much when no proper facilities are provided.. I would never recommend this theatre to anyone.

Visited these cinemas for the very first time. They would remind you of old Indian cinemas and they play mostly all South Indian films here. Buy ticket only and get it printed inside the cinemas. You can't bring outside food but you will get refreshments there as well.

Went for a Rajinikanth first day first show movie. The energy and excitement was fun to watch and totally enjoyed the cheers. They have a good choice of food at the counters to buy catering to different ages. The hall capacity is decent size. The screen and sound system is very good and the chairs are quite comfortable. Would have liked it being a step type gallery, though the layout is inclined, would have been better.

The screen is too high and the seats close to screen feel absolute discomfort in watching cinema. Two stars only for good music. I was watching this movie here and the screen stopped show stopped within first 10 minutes! No message from any management staff about this issue was given. I decided to write review straight away.

Terrible theatre. I'm shocked there any reviews above 2 stars here. The theatre seats are terrible, there is no elevation between the bottom and high seats. The sound system is insanely bad, these haven't been updated in 15 years. Your ears will actually hurt during loud scenes. Also bought samosas and rolls - both just downright bad. Would never recommend to anyone - just watch any movie at home.

Really enjoy this place. I only hope they increase the show timings or keep movies for longer time. Theatre room palace is very good. Would like to know if they all are identical or not ?

I come here only for big expectation movies, where we can watch in a screen with fully occupied seats. I came here n no of times which I recently went to Jailer, they celebrated with crackers to enjoy.

TOO LOUD AND NO AC This place charges prices like cineplex but most screens are too loud to bear and without AC sometimes. You get the answer of “will inform the manager” if asked about AC but you come out of the theatre feeling like a sauna! They should at least try to provide decent viewing experience for customers, unfortunately they haven’t yet!!

Worst theatre. very bad in cleanliness. The restrooms were flooded with toilet papers. Should maintain it properly. The floors below of the seats are also dirty. The seats very also not comfortable, couldn't move them. The height of the screen gives you neck pain if u sit too close. But the sound was good. It gave good effect . The 1 star is for the sound.

You will generally find the halls empty for late night shows. The sound is lot more than the audible limit. There are hardly any staff seen around for any help except those in the cafe. Seats arent the best to sit through couple of hours. Usually regional Indian movies are played here

It's the worst theatre in the GTA. No maintenance at all. They never clean the seats or floor after a show. I have visited multiple times and not even once I have seen clean seats and don't even get me started on the washrooms... I just had the most unwelcome and non-smiling customer experience from the girl at the cash counter this evening. I would give her an award for the worst customer service if there is one.

The screening and sound effects are good. But there are not enough child seats so it is a bit difficult for the parents. They also have to improve their cleaning and maintenance. But people also should take responsibility to keep the theatre clean.

one of the Indian cinema theatre. little crowded during weekend. The snack counter is not great !!! No covid protocols are followed. While booking a pop up trigged that seats are allocated as per social distancing but when we went there there was no protocols followed whatsoever. the seats can use a revamp. being the only good cinema theatre they can maintain it well.

The seats don't recline, the sound system is such a sorry excuse for the moohla you shell out. Too loud and harsh. The escalator didn't work and we had oldies with us, not really disable friendly.

Only place in Markham to watch Indian movies. Kannada movies are taken away from the screen pretty quickly which is the sad part. Screens are alright. Masala chai and samosa are good.

Pricing keep changing. It shows 11 or 12.50 and after going there its $18 Not sure if the prices are valid on day 1 and then reduce. suggest to check if this matters , one person okay but a group going and then find $5 more per head , it matters. 2 stars of price variation , else neat and clean maintenance

I watched hanu-man movie in screen 2, the sound was nice compared to woodside, and the seating 💺 was also comfortable. I enjoyed watching movie 🎬 here. Would like to come Back again

Just watched Jailer. Superb movie and excellent experience with the crowd. Sound system is very good but the theater and seats definitely needs to be upgraded.

I recently visited York Cinemas, an Indian theatre located in the heart of the city, and overall I had a great experience. As someone who enjoys Bollywood movies, it was a treat to find a theatre that specializes in showing these films. One thing to note is that the theatre can get very busy on the weekends, so it's best to arrive early to secure a good seat. However, this also speaks to the popularity of the theatre and the quality of the films they show. Despite the crowds, the theatre staff were efficient and friendly, and I was able to get my tickets and snacks quickly. The theatre itself is well-maintained and comfortable, with spacious seating and good sound quality. I appreciated the attention to detail in the decor, which added to the overall ambiance and made the experience feel more immersive. The selection of snacks and beverages was also impressive, with a variety of options to choose from. One thing I did notice was that the ticket prices were slightly higher than other theatres in the area. However, I believe this is justified given the unique experience that York Cinemas offers. As an Indian theatre, they cater to a specific audience and provide a specialized service that is not available elsewhere.

While the movie experience is okay! The snack bar sucks… Bought a rose milk and a chicken samosa - Both were spoilt! They were stinking! I had them check it.. they agreed it was rotten! This is my second experience of something being rotten.. the last time it was a veg samosa a couple of years ago!

I recently visited York Cinemas to watch "Jailer" on Screen 3 and had a mixed experience. The screen size was impressive, providing an immersive visual experience that enhanced my enjoyment of the film. However, the seating left much to be desired in terms of comfort, which was a drawback during the movie's runtime. Another aspect that could be improved was the sound quality. I found it to be a bit on the low side, which made certain dialogues and scenes less impactful than they could have been. Despite these drawbacks, I still enjoyed the movie and found the storytelling captivating.

I don’t even feel like giving them 1 star but I am because the theatre was clean. I went there on Aug.29 for the 6:30 show, which started at 6:47 (I timed it) because they wasted time with pointless and insanely boring advertisements (personal injury law firms and tow truck services) that they get paid to show. They only showed 1 trailer for a forthcoming movie. The seats weren’t comfortable one bit. Stay at home and watch the movie without mind numbing ads.

Good theatre in terms of cleanliness, screens, seating comfort. But today, while watching a movie, we could hear the sounds from the adjacent theatre throughout the movie. Altogether, it gave a bad experience. Should improve the audio insulation so that everyone can enjoy their experience while here.

York Cinemas is a pretty good place. I have watched couple of movies over the years and I have watched a movie like a week ago and it was okay. It's pretty clean and you can book tickets online and the fee was fair enough including the tax. I would recommend this place for indians to watch regional Indian movies.

Wonderful place for Indian and Tamil movies. Felt like watching movies back home. But can improve in snacks. Popcorn is not mixed properly with spices. But otherwise, it's a very good experience

Pretty decent place to watch Indian movies. Faced severe parking issues due to back to back shows across all screens. The intervals for two screens were just 5 minutes of each other, leading to long restroom wait times. Good sound quality and clean theaters.

Worst theatrical experience ever! Uncomfortable seats, low resolution- bad Sound system! What not. We were asked to switch the screen halfway through, due to technical issues and had to watch the movie in the front row (We originally book the back-row seats). No refund either! Never back again.

It's a good place for watching Indian movies. The theatre has decent screen size and seating capacity. Sometimes it felt like they lags a little is sound quality as some of the dialogues felt a bit vague.

I have never ever seen this kind of dirty theatre anywhere. No cleaning no hygiene maintained . You could say we have more than better clean theatres back in India. Even in washroom there are no toilet papers and no soap. Seats are also torn with pop corn everywhere. Extremely disgusted with the experience.

  • 4/5 Parag G. 2 years ago on Google
Good place but not cleaned. Very dirty as like single screens in India. Not blaming theater, just peoples should be respectful and keep it clean. Snacks reminds of india and atleast someone is playing indian blockbusters.

Don't buy the ticket online it is a scam! They charge us for the tickets but when we reach movies york is closed, guess what show has been cancelled becoz of no reason and they didn't care to inform us. There is nobody to talk to, no one answer the calls, nothing. We are waiting for an hour here with no ways to contact them. This is a waste of money and time!

When we went to see anathee which is the new rajnikanth movie at 430 we got our tickets online because it was ten times easy than buying in the cinema We went inside before showtime they didn’t play it to 5 which I am totally fine with that but when we the movie started half 30 min in to the movie the movie completely stop and the whole crowd was left in darkness and we tried to tell the staff but someone did and it took around 20 mins to show the movie up again and it was still a long time and York cinema needs to fix there projectors because the movie suddenly stoped out no we’re but it was a amazing movie and will give it out of 10/10 and good popcorn as well

Terrible seats all of them are wobbly.

  • 5/5 Maya L. 3 years ago on Google
This is a cinema where it's showing some good movies but not necessarily best selling. It's smaller theatre size in general but also cheaper than normal cineplex. I have to travel a little longer to get here but it's worth the time and energy. Most famous players have purchased by Cineplex but this is one of the odds that left over.

  • 3/5 Sandy R. 5 years ago on Google
The theater seats have been renovated it's far better than few months ago. This theatre has online booking availability but they charge $1 convenience fee which is very stupid. I love that they have all south indian cinema running but the MAJOR DEFECT IS THE SOUND QUALITY IS EXTREMELY POOR AND HORRIBLE. YOU WILL GET EAR PAIN AFTER WATCHING THE MOVIE. SOUND QUALITY IS NOT BALANCED VERY TERRIBLE. I got headache after watching movie #Adanga Maru#. Their service has to be improved snacks are poor !
