Can't believe I've lived in Northampton most my life and I've only just discovered Sorrentino! If you love Italian- you must try. Rustic restaurant, across 2 floors. It got pretty busy towards the evening so would recommend booking. Me and my friend went early and took advantage of the early bird menu which is really good value for money. (Not sure whether this is available all week or set days). The portion sizes are generous and the food was delicious! We had 2 bottles of wine and 3 courses and it came to just over £80 altogether. The staff here are warm and welcoming- absolutely would come here again! (May have to wear joggers next time as my stomach was so full by the end) 🤣

Generous portions of hearty Italian food, with friendly service and reasonable prices. Good for groups or a get together. Bustling location upstairs on a corner.

We have dined at this restaurant numerous times over the years, so thought it was about time I left a review. We pre-booked a table as it was for the Saturday (the week before Christmas), so expected it to be busy. It was. The restaurant is situated over two floors and we always dine on the top floor, as for us it's the best atmosphere and setting. We were greeted by the owner and chef, who has always treated us the same, always friendly and welcoming and treats you special. If he has time he will always come to the table for a chat. He showed us upstairs and we were greeted again by friendly smiling staff who gave us a choice of two tables. We ordered drinks and time was taken to order food. For starter we shared a ciabatta garlic bread, which comes as 6 slices. Perfect for a starter for two. For mains I ordered the lasagne gorgonzola, which is a firm favourite of mine. It's one of the only restaurants where the lasagne comes perfectly cooked on a plate, instead of as a hot pot. My wife ordered the penne con gorgonzola fungi e arucola. Again a firm favourite and also was perfectly cooked. For desserts I ordered a chocolate pudding with cream and my wife had a lemon cheesecake. Both were delicious. The bill came to just over £73 for a shared starter, 2 mains, 2 desserts and 2 glasses of wine. Considering the excellent atmosphere, nice friendly staff, excellent quality food it's really good value. This is one of the rare, family owned restaurants that has consistently served excellent food with superb service over many years. I really hope it continues to do so. It really is a hidden gem.

First time at this restaurant celebrating our grandson's 18th birthday. Service was great, food was really tasty and generous portions. Can recommend the lasagne gorgonzola. Everyone enjoyed their meals and would definitely visit again soon.

Visiting Northampton after 20 years away I was disappointed in the decline of the town with many familiar shops and restaurants now sadly lost. However, I was reassured to see Sorrentinos still going strong. I ate in here with my partner and can honestly say, it has to be the best place in town by far. The quality of the food is great and the service by the staff is welcoming and friendly. Prices are reasonable given the high level of the food. All in all we spent £64 on 2 beers, 2 starters and 2 pizza which I think is remarkable value.

Large portions, rustic setting, friendly staff. What’s there not to love?! Tip: Offer customers water or drinks once they sit, don’t wait for them to ask. Also pay the staff more. Also add lamb to your menu. Thanks 😁

The service was quick and excellent took my kids here to eat and the food was very tasty. I would recommend it to anyone who fancies a great Italian food experience, and also to anyone that just wants to enjoy amazing food in general! The owner is an amazing guy, thank you guys for an amazing evening.

Was really looking forward to visiting this restaurant after travelling to Northampton for the long weekend. What a complete let down, the service was bad and the food was even worse. The food was bad, we didn’t eat our starters as the olives tasted very strange, the bread was dry and stale. Our mains came and my husbands pasta was in what looked like a soup rather then a sauce, my lasagna looked amazing but sadly it was not, it was bland and had 2 chunks of meat I didn’t even eat it, it definitely was not fresh. We were asked if we wanted dessert, we said no and were left sat there for 20 mins waiting for the bill. I said to one of the waitresses that we had been sat waiting for our bill for 20 mins, she then said but did you ask for it, I in turn said I think it self explanatory by the fact we decline coffee and dessert and we had no plates of food. WORST FOOD AND SERVICE EVER. Don’t waste your time or money here. If I could leave a minus rating I would.

Enjoyed the food-it’s amazing but actual atmosphere-no table covers, paper tissues just seemed a bit poor. Also waitress didn’t put water in my glass and didn’t fill up bowl with balsamic vinegar and oil. For prices like they have I think service and interior should be a bit higher quality.

This is my second trip based on a previous excellent experience. We saw no less than 4 waitresses in the evening. Our drinks stayed topped up, the service was FIRST CLASS and the food is always consistent and excellent. I smell a third trip in my future.

I book a table for 2 at 8pm something like that, we arrive with 5 min late. No time to seat down the waiter ask to order drink. We ask few more minutes, she back and we order drink and starters. We was eating our starters she back and ask us to order the main courses, we order we eat in less than 1 hour. No time for us to ask for bill, she just bring it. The closing time for that day was 10pm. We never gonna came back!!

Always an amazing meal. I think the portion sizes might have become even bigger. Had a fantastic selection of dishes. Great gluten free options too. Has been a favourite for nearly 20 years.

We booked a table for a Saturday evening at 8pm a month before. On arrival at the restaurant we found they were over booked waited 20 minutes but then were told the previous customers had ordered more wine. We left and walked over to another Italian restaurant Andrea's and had a lovely meal and also more reasonably priced.

Came for dinner, and didn’t disappoint. We had a sharing platter for 2, and tomato bruschetta to start. It was super fresh tasting, and plenty big enough! We would’ve been happy enough with the starters alone. My steak was cooked perfectly (I went for medium rare), and my partners lasagne was rich and full of flavor. We attempted dessert, but only left some as we couldn’t physically eat anymore!!! There is no parking, but St Mary’s car park is close by (2 min walk), so not too bad. We ended the night at gravity and crazy golf. Service was good, and the atmosphere was nice and relaxed. We weren’t pestered to hurry up and finish our drinks once we had paid, which made us enjoy it more as we got to chat and relax with the remainder of our wine. We will be back!

Always a wonderful dining experience. Authentic Italian food made with love that oozes with flavour and flair that keeps us coming back again and again. Staff are attentive, polite, friendly and professional and knowledgeable about the dishes on offer. Thanks for a great night!

Lovely place with incredibly fast service and tasty food. I was surprised how friendly and fast the staff are. The young lad serving us went above and beyond to make sure we had a good evening, definitely worth visiting!!

As stated on another review, dont be put off by the takeaway next door. This is a lovely small restaurant for an intimate dinner with family or SO. Food is very reasonably priced, especially since, as far as i know, its traditional homemade Italian food. I ordered the bolognese which was very big portion, waiter did warn me not to order more since there would be alot of food. appreciate the honesty to avoid food waste. friendly service, nice atmoshphere.

I have been coming to Sorrentinos for occasions over the last 25 years, the best Italian food you can get in Northampton with a great team of staff who are extremely accommodating and provide sound recommendations. I personally reccomend the Itallian Experience menu if you are dining with a large group as it allows you to eat in the traditional Italian way with friends and also adds an element of fun to your meal, especially if you let the chef choose your meals for you.

As someone with a big appetite, I rarely find a restaurant that can satisfy my hunger fully; Sorrentino's did just that. And on top of having a delicious, filling meal, we received excellent service throughout. I don't know why I left it so long to visit here, but I'll be a regular now!

Fantastic Italian food, great friendly service, good wine at a sensible price. Fed 4 hungry chaps before a concert. Would we go back? Absolutely!!!!

Family run Italian restuarant with a vibrant atmosphere, excellent food and table service. Starters seemed pricey until they arrived; great portion sizes and brimming with flavour particularly the muscles dish. Huge! House wine was excellent also. There's an upstairs and downstairs but most customers are set upstairs with a nice view of the crossing, so it appears emptier from the front than it actually is, i assume downstairs is an overflow. Been here 3 times now and loved every minute. Will definately recommend.

Lovely food. Staff are very friendly. Nice atmosphere. Always order the garlic bread as it is amazing! Best I have ever had with HUGE chunks of garlic. Really nice place and food is always lovely and hot. Nothing is too much trouble. Well done guys!

The decor is a bit dated but the food more than made up for that. The main menu had plenty of choice, full of the usual Italian favourites with a few extra dishes I’d not seen before. We didn’t opt for a desert and if I was being critical that was one part of the menu didn’t have much of a choice but I’ve often found that in Italian themed restaurants. The service was very good, we didn’t have to wait long for the food either, waitresses were polite and friendly, the food arrived hot served in preheated bowls and plates. Price wise it was average, a price you’d be happy to pay specially when the taste was as good as it was. Main courses with sides and one drink each averaged £25 a head.
