Room was very clean. Beds were very comfortable. Room had nice layout and amenities. My kids loved the pool. Breakfast was ok. Underground parking was awesome and they recently installed at several EV chargers! Wish I would have known in advance.

Stayed here for two nights with a group of 30 people from Norway. Overall it was a great experience. Rooms are brand new and feel modern and inviting. Very spacious Corridors and hallways. The service was great. The gal at the front desk on Monday and Tuesday with the white Shirt was very attractive, and very kind. The main issue I have with this place is that the restaurant and bar on site takes up the entire common area, including the beautiful outdoor patio for their own sales and profits and has a strict policy about not letting you bring your own beverages into those areas which makes it very difficult to have your own beverages with your friends or family. They don’t serve Sam Adams at the bar and that’s what a couple of my clients really wanted so we were forced to drink in our rooms. they should relax such a policy because it’s kind of possessive and tacky. I actually intentionally spent less money at the bar because I was not welcomed to enjoy the beverage I wanted anywhere in the comfortable seating area.

Rooms okay, nothing special but not bad in any way. Underground parking which is nice for the winter. Hotel check-in staff was super friendly and accommodating. No Apple Pay on property.

The Fairfield is a gem of a hotel in the heart of Northfield. The patio and many rooms overlook the Cannon River. The room rate includes breakfast in a cheerful space that connects to the hotel bar and restaurant. The hallways are wide, and the hotel is clean and contemporary with wide hallways and a boardroom off the spacious lobby. The Fairfield is centrally located and a mile or less from many points of interest: St. Olaf and Carleton Colleges; the Northfield Historical Society; historical St. John's Lutheran Church; Antiques of Northfield; Northfield Arts Guild Theater; and many shops and restaurants. The staff are excellent and very responsive to the needs of their guests. Our group required a block of rooms and Tammy made it easy for individuals to simply click on a link to make a reservation.

Good restaurant and friendly staff. Had to stay in Northfield unexpectedly and they were able to quickly get me checked in. The restaurant and breakfast bar were good. The staff was very helpful and the parking ramp with EV chargers was great.

It was a fine stay. It's a standard hotel with a bar/lounge. I didn't try the breakfast as I am on a special diet and it didn't look very accommodating.

I stayed here for 5 nights, and like everything, there are pros and cons. The service could use a course in hospitality. I spoke with a woman who was training another person, who could have been more empathetic and friendly. I asked for a noon checkout after my 5-night stay and was told that unless I was a member, I would be charged $10.00 each hour beyond the 11:00 checkout time. I said that I thought that I was a member, and asked if they could look it up. They said they couldn't. I found it and was able to get a noon checkout at no additional charge. When I said that I was surprised and disappointed and hadn't run into this at other Mariott's, the woman responded shortly, "I know for a fact that other Marriotts charge for that." The beds are on the very firm side, and you can hear people above you and through the halls. There were children screaming and running up and down the elevators and hallways, and I was surprised that no one stopped it. The towels are very scratchy and if I ever stay here again, I will bring my own. On the plus side, the housekeeping-which I got every other day, rather than every day was wonderful! The housekeeping crew were so nice and great! The location is great, and the parking under the hotel was a nice perk. All in all, it's a decent 2-star hotel.

A pretty standard hotel, but the service was particularly helpful and nice. The hotel bedroom and bathroom were both clean and average sized. There is a fitness room with some equipment and an indoor pool as well. The complimentary breakfast was nice and had a good variety of options. The lobby has a lot of good seating areas. Would recommend.

I was given the total cost including taxes and fees at the time I made the reservation. I reserved a room with two queen beds and was told that was available. When I checked in, they told me that because the type of room I reserved was no longer available, they gave me side-by-side rooms with a king bed in each. The rooms were not adjoining rooms. I was also told the cost would be the same. When I awoke to find my emailed receipt, I was charged more than I was told. I am happy to report that when I spoke to the person at the desk, she graciously corrected the error, giving me a credit and contact information for whom to reach, if by some chance I don't see the credit within a few days.

Would have given 5 stars except that breakfast had pre-packaged sandwiches, not eggs and meats like most Marriotts. Rooms, common areas were very nice. The deck overlooking the river was great and the full bar open to 11 pm was very unusual for a Fairfield. June 2023 Update: They have improved breakfast with excellent souffles, breakfast sandwiches, scrambled eggs and sausages or bacon. This is by far the best Fairfield at which I have stayed in 20 years of Marriot patronage. 6 stars!

My partner and I stayed at the Fairfield Inn for just one night to attend a nearby wedding. When we arrived, our room was not yet ready but the staff behind the front desk were very attentive and supportive, and the room was ready shortly thereafter. The room was clean, well organized, and had a surprising amount of storage space. The bathroom was large and had a beautiful shower. The bed was also very comfortable, which is greatly appreciated as many hotels cheap out on beds. The continental breakfast the next morning had great selection and options, with plenty of clean tables to sit at. Overall the room, staff, and location was perfect.

It’s a nice hotel with excellent restaurant and underground parking. I go here somewhat frequent for work. Only deducting 1 star because of my status and almost never get room upgraded and walls are thin so it can be noisy as well as “city view” is actually view of a gas station and large power station.

Really disappointed with reservations and management at this hotel. I tried to book a reservation for my son's graduation at Carleton and was continually told it was too early to book.I called over several weeks. I called from early June for many days/weeks and was told to wait until July 1 when the rooms would be available book. But on July 1st it was sold out. I'm a regular Marriot customer but, not anymore.

Tried to make a reservation for my son's graduation, nearly a year from now. Wasn't allowed to do it online -- was told by the reservations desk to call at 7am on this date. So I called --literally, twenty times: I'd be transferred to "reservations", and after the phone would ring a certain number of times, the reservations desk would hang up on me. When a human finally answered, after a solid HOUR of this, I was told there were no reservations left for these dates. Really, is this the best system you have, Marriott?

Fantastic outside deck overlooking the river with good food and drink service! Rooms were fresh and clean too. No complaints. 5 stars.

It was a good stay. My only issues were the noise from the train and the AC. Very loud… but the people were very nice and accommodating and it was close enough to were I needed to be everyday… the underground parking was definitely a benefit and it the food and drinks were good.

Good newer hotel. Has underground parking for cold and snowy weather. Rooms are nice with comfy beds. Good breakfast with grab and go breakfast burritos and muffins with cheese and sausage. Hard boiled eggs, yogurt, cereal waffles and juice. Also good blueberry scones. Great location for St. Olaf and Carleton college. Nice small town with everything nearby.
