The best sushi around. No doubt it is the freshest and most tasty sushi nearby. The only downside is the price. Everything is very expensive but the potion size is quite large. I really liked the nigiri sushi and the chirashi. I am yet to dine in here but when I ordered takeout it was substantially better than all the other places nearby. If you have time give this place a stop because it is definitely worth it.

I was shocked to learn of this new sushi restaurant in Bergen County just minutes from home. Ive eaten at some of the best NYC sushi establishments (Noz, Ginza, Masa, etc) and to have this quality of sushi in Norwood NJ which as a town is not a dining hub, not at a major crossroads, and aside from driving 30 mins to Fort Lee has no peers in terms of quality of sushi —- it’s as much bewildering as it is a dream come true. The quality and treatment of the fish (both the omakase as well as larger platter), rice, house made soy sauce and accompanying rolls are all superb and for a price that feels like half of what we were used to paying for a comparable offering in NYC. The packaging is beautiful and sustainable as well. This place is nothing like the typical neighborhood places in the area. It is traditionally styled sushi where the product shines and is not buried in sauces or cream cheese or “crunchy”. Although we have some great Italian and Korean restaurants in the near vicinity, there is somewhat of a void of high quality options of other varieties nearby. I hope this new restaurant serves as a case study for what this area is calling out for. Best of luck to Okinami - I hope you are embraced by the community.

Great neighborhood spot, we were ordering takeout for a while now but have been dining in the past month or so. Both experiences were amazing. Fish is fresh and flavourful, and I tried multiple rolls and appetizers, which were great so far. Highly recommended!

I just tried this place for the first time and wow hands down best sushi in the area. My boyfriend and I have actually tried everything in the area all the way down to fort lee, and this is the freshest most worth it fish. I just got the sushi dinner assortment, and every bite was so fresh, clean and delicious. It’s also filling! Very worth the price. I feel so satisfied. This is definitely my new goto place when I’m having a sushi craving.

    1. Fish quality is good. Tuna could be better at least the day I went. 2. Signature Futomaki is my pick on this place. 3. Karaage (Japanese Fried Chicken) is ok, but I would not order this again. Cooked well but not real Japanese style. 4. It’s BYOB so make sure to bring your favorite sake. 5. Friday evening is busy so go early if you plan being there.

This is - by far - the best sushi you can get outside of the major players in NYC. And for half the cost (for an omakase). The fish is unbelievably fresh and has varied nicely the last couple times ive been there. Even the mushroom nigiri this time was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Tuna is perfection in each style, eel is perfectly smokey and the scallop is perfect. The house soy has a touch of sweet and even the miso soup and salad are years beyond your typical local takeout spot. Staff is awesome but get here early since they don't take resos for less than 6. Lucky to have found this since I moved out of the city. On par quality-wise with my experiences at Mitsu's Omakase Room and Ume.

Although they only do takeout as of now, the food is very neatly packaged. I loved the packaging personally. The food is reasonably priced and came out relatively quickly. I got the spicy tuna roll and shrimp tempura roll, both were amazing. They have a double roll combo that comes with a side of your choosing and miso soup. Can’t wait till they open dine in, will definitely be doing more often.

I recommend going in to eat. Delicious food and comfortable atmosphere. Everything tasted really fresh and had so much flavor. I got the omakase with several nigiri.
