The staff was great! They are the reason for the one star! The hotel itself is in serious need of a remodel! Wall paper peeling off the wall, old comforters on the beds, uncomfortable/noisy beds, one of the elevators wasn’t working and just dirty. Not up to par with the Hilton name and for sure not worth the $314 we paid for one night.

This hotel shows signs of needing a significant remodel - ripped furniture fabric, musty smelling room, and wet carpeting. The location and staff are good.

The hotels I normally stay at while in South Bend were sold out, so the rep I was working with booked me here since I’ma Hilton Honors member. I didn’t think much about it since I’ve stayed at Hamptons many times. This one does not meet Hilton standards - it’s just old and needs some TLC. My room had bugs in the bed (I wasn’t sure if they were bed bugs but I showed the front desk rep and she thought they might be). They comped me for the night and upgraded me to a suite so that was very nice of them. However the new bed had lots of dog hair between the mattress and box spring🤔 But Brooke at the front desk and her supervisor were great so 5 stars for them. However I wouldn’t recommend this particular hotel for those expecting Hilton Honors standards.

The rooms are above standards for the rates. Staff was helpful when addressed. And location is a mile from Michigan, 5 minutes from Notre Dame University. 10 minutes from downtown South Bend

As a long time Hilton Honors member, I always first look for a Hilton property when traveling. While planning a visit with my son at Notre Dame, I selected this Hampton Inn. I read some of the reviews that were not good. However, this was a very busy weekend (Junior Parents Weekend) and we decided that we'd trust Hilton and stay at this location. This was a big mistake. The check in staff was very polite. However, the facility was very poorly maintained. Our room (205) was shocking. The inside door handle came off in our hand. The closet door, same. The bathroom floor was dirty, the bathtub base was a shade of black (looking like it had not been properly cleaned in months). There were long black hairs on the shower walls. The club chair was stained in the bedroom. About the only thing that appeared clean were the sheets. I would encourage anyone who trusts Hilton, to stay away. Our room should never have been made available to a guest. period.

Time to shut down this place for renovation . Filthy hall carpet, filthy elevator, broken tiles in bath room, toilet paper holder broken, wallpaper falling down, closet door missing. Generally worn out, hard to believe this part of the Hilton chain. Staff was excellent.

We enjoyed it. It's nice and cozy for being along 933, they offer things like coffee all day long and even had an extra blanket for the hide away couch. Over all you can't go wrong. My daughter celebrated her 11th birthday there and they accomidated us well.

We arrived after 8pm and we had to wait about 10 minutes for the lady to get back to the check-in counter, she was very pleasant and apologetic. I am a Hilton Honors member and usually will stay at a Hampton if there's one close by. I was shocked at the condition of our room. Mold spots on the ceiling in the bathroom, wallpaper peeling off the walls, and a lot of bumps and bruises. I can't say the room was dirty but it definitely needs updated. Sorry for the negative post, but I expect more from a Hampton Inn.

Nice facility. The staff i interacted with was great. With multiple tournaments being hosted there i would have thought the concession stand would have been open or at least the vending machines stocked.

Rooms are in desperate need of updates. The TV in the room looks like one of the original LCD tvs. Wallpaper coming off and water stains. Staff was great though, can't say anything bad about them. Even at 4am when I was having issues with WiFi the lady at the desk got me squared away with a smile.

Wow, where do I start. The rooms all have water damage from the roof leaking which meens the walls could be filled with mold. Youll see water stains all over the walls and around the windows. The rooms are also dirty and very dated. I would be scared to take a black light to any surface of this place. I'm staying here for two weeks and it can't be over sooner. I use the gym every morning but apparently that's a corner of the hotel that isn't touched because they have a water dispenser that's been empty since I got here despite me telling the front desk that there is no water in the gym. All day everyone's kids run up and down the halls while banging against the walls. I called customer relations twice and nothing was done about that. I'm on the side of the McDonald's and there is a light positioned conveniently shinning into my window so that's nice. The ice machines on every floor except the 1st are broken cause why not. This place need to be destroyed, rebuilt and restaffed. Sorry not sorry.

Stayed here for 1 night and was quite disappointed on many fronts…Parking was good. Check in was easy & front desk lady was very polite. But thats where the good stops. Elevator was a very old style single elevator… and it was broken 🤣. Had to cart our luggage up the stairs. Walked in the room and there was a super pungent ammonia smell strong enough to make my eyes burn! Turn on the tv and only more than half the channels didnt work. (Tv appears to be 20 years old)… went to take a shower and the drain was so slow I was up to my ankles in water within minutes. The bathroom mirror was rusted all over, and the shampoo dispenser was empty in the shower! Woke up in the morning and the refrigerator froze all the liquids(including my child’s milk)! Went to get ice and the ice machines are broke on the 2nd & 3rd floor! Clearly there is a systemic issue here with leadership & their expectations of employees. Definitely needs some better maintenance here.

if i could give ZERO stars, i would. we stayed at this hotel for a hockey tournament this weekend which we had no other choice as it was a stay and play. upon entering the lobby smelled of smoke. the elevator was on and off without service. the third floor ice machine was broken. before we found our little “friend,” my 7 yo lifted the mattress and found a stained, dirty wash cloth. disgusting. we found a bed bug and i work in healthcare so i'm very familiar with them. i turned it in, rhaven saw it, said orkin had to come out to verify. was told we'd be notified when orkin got there and not once was called. our teammate found the first bed bug in their room they were moved to the second floor. was told that their old room would be marked out of service and it was not. within 20 minutes of her moving another family was placed in there! i asked rhaven for a deep cleaning and complete and total bed change. which was never done. the only thing cleaned was the floor and it wasn't cleaned well. another teammate found a dirty mouth retainer in their room upon entry. the breakfast was not stocked, the juice was stale and fermented. the only thing you had was waffles, and on sunday it was a hot mess. no plates, spoons, or forks. no one seemed to have concern for these issues, in fact we were brushed off like it wasn't a big deal and that this hotel has these issues all the time. in fact! we were told there was an outbreak in the area. so rhaven completely confirmed that. additionally, saturday morning i was leaving the hotel approx 650 am to have my son to his game an hour early, asked the front desk young male for garbage bags to be replaced and a vacuuming for our room and he handed me the garbage sacks while also trying to hand me a vacuum. what horrible customer service. we will never stay in your hotel again. we travel for hockey OFTEN, in fact every weekend and i have NEVER had such a horrible stay.

In definite need of some TLC. While the decor is more modern, much of it is in poor shape and needs replacing. I've slept on much more comfortable beds at lower quality hotels and the bathroom was in dire need of some wall and ceiling repair. Definitely not the quality standard I'd come to expect from a Hampton Inn.

Overall hotel was not very clean. Floors were dirty in the entryway and hallways. Very poor feeling. Worst Hampton we have ever have stayed at. Slightly changed our view of Hampton.

Central location, great service, standard rooms - a little dingy but nothing that wasn't expected. The bed was probably the comfiest hotel bed I've ever slept on though!

Very clean peacefully quiet and respectful accommodating staffing made for a great night sleep without restlessness I was able to relax and enjoy at an affordable price close to business and restaurants shopping and of course the water.

We stayed the night so we could use the pool for a birthday treat. My daughter and friend enjoyed their stay. The birthday girl even got to enjoy a late night apple juice thanks to the friendly staff.

We had a nice suite with bedroom, living room and a small kitchenette. The room was comfortable with plenty of space. However, it is dated with repairs and upgrades needed. We were disappointed the pool was closed for maintenance. No hot tub. Guest laundry with one washer and dryer. Good lighting and outlet placement. Breakfast on the lower end of Hampton Inn. The hotel has treats out throughout the day which is a nice touch. Staff is excellent.

Room numbers were extremely confusing ? Maybe bec only one working elevator. Stains on mattress and a stain on sheet.floor sticky outside bathroom Told all to desk person when I checked out. Will not choose to stay here again.but am an honors member so want to help for other members

The place was nice and convenient if you have to go back and forth to Berrien Springs, MI. The only problem during our stay was the kitchen sink’s clogged and the carpet needs to be cleaned coz it’s sticky everywhere. Need to add more washer & dryer. Other then that it’s fine.

Check in was fast, rooms were clean, and tidy. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was great. Hotel felt safe and open: They even went above and beyond to make sure my stay here was nothing less than perfect. Would definitely return on my next business trip!

I chose to stay at the Hampton Inn South Bend because of the quality and consistency of the brand and its location. I was very surprised and disappointed with the poor quality of this hotel. Very dirty room. Seemed like it was never dusted. Flies- both alive and dead- in the room. Flourescent light flickered and would not turn on. One single person on duty. he was sleeping upon my arrival at 10:30 pm. I had to telephone the hotel to wake him up. He never checked my ID, just handed me the keys. elevator was out of service. This was by far the worst Hilton branded hotel I have experienced (I have been an HHonors member for 30+ years)
