Horrible. You’d think with such a prestigious college in town that Comfort Suites would spend some money updating this hotel. The rooms smell like chemicals, trying to mask the age of the carpets. The rooms are run down and not maintained. The dilapidated shower did not have hot water (luke warm water at best, sink water was scolding hot though). The elevators and hallways are filthy. There is no bottles of water in the room or available at the front desk, just a vending machine that doesn’t accept credit cards because it’s out of service. The ice machines were broken on 3/4 of the floors. Lastly the front desk person was not helpful and was irritated when I had to ask for change to get money for the vending machine. The only good thing I can say is that I was able to safely park my U-Haul for the evening. I would recommend staying elsewhere.

A truly horrible experience here. Manager broke ADA laws by refusing me and my son our prepaid room because we have a service dog, which we informed them OF, as a courtesy,, DAYS AHEAD OF TIME. We had an e mail acknowledging my message about the service dog. Yet, the front desk clerk would not check us in because his manager was " funny." He yelled at me for not reserving a "pet" room, said he did not know ADA laws and didn't care to look it up, told me i should call the police,, then when I said i wanted the Choice hotels corporate number, he wouldn't give it to me. They are a member of the "Choice Hotel" group. I called them, he finally gave us our room. We didn't feel safe after that, and left in the morning. Horrible response from Choice Hotels because each hotel is ind. owned...they ended up giving me some "points" toward another stay, but no promises that others will not be treated illegally and rudely...

Be aware of cleaning fee. Make sure to make the bed and vacuum before you leave. Management charged me cleaning fee for leaving "dirty" room after checkout even though I never smoked or made room dirty beyond normal stuff. Was I supposed to make the bed and vacuum the room before I left. C'mon it's ridiculous. When I reached out to management and asked why am I being charged cleaning fee they couldn't tell me what exactly I left dirty. Just be aware.

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. I would never stay here again. The front desk staff were very nice and helpful. Close to Notre Dame, but the room was gross. It smelled very musty. Room was dirty. Very dim lighting. The lamps had rusted bases. The cover for the smoke detector was found under the mattress. Phone didn’t work. Tv had terrible reception.

Hotel is in need of updates like worn carpet and baseboards. We had to change rooms due to the first one smelling like smoke. The night manager was extremely helpful and put us in another room. It was better but still had an odd odor. Good price for the location and the breakfast was good.

Very nice hotel! We arrived super late, but the lady at the desk was still amazing & so patient! We had to go down right after check in because our whirlpool tub drain plug was broken. We asked for just a plug to make it manageable for the night, she insisted on giving us a new room. Everything was very clean, close to our daughter’s dance competition. We always stay choice hotels & they didn’t disappoint!

This hotel is rough. It’s for sure showing it’s age and no money being put Into it. The front desk girl was new but she was doing her best! The room definitely needs updates and new clean fixtures throughout. The breakfast had greasy sausage and everything else was gone for hot food. For sure wouldn’t stay again.

This hotel is TERRIBLE! If it weren’t for the fact it was 10 pm at check in we would have never checked in. It was dirty!!! It smelled! Paint peeling off the walls. The tv was fuzzy, I don’t even know how that happens anymore. Elevators are sketchy. Our first room was so bad we had to switch. Beds are beyond old, you could feel springs. The staff at night was nice, when we checked out they were terrible. Refused to refund. We checked out and moved hotels! DO NOT STAY HERE!

Requested in advance towels on the second day, didn't receive. Woke up both mornings with bug bites? In no way could they have been due to outside bugs because we hadn't left . Called for a checkout extension and was told they would inform housekeeping and still had someone attempt to come in my room. Thank god I had the latch across, my son was in the bath and I was getting dressed. Had I not had the door locked on my end, I would have been even more upset. Not to mention, there was hair on more than half of our towels, that surely wasn't ours as it fell off the towels when picking them up. And to top it off, the mattress? 🤢

This is the dirtiest hotel I’ve stayed in. I’m not one to make complaints but once checking in we went to our room we found brown poop splatters on the wall behind the toilet, a dirty used wash cloth hanging in the shower, the taps looked very dirty like they hadn’t even been wiped and there was literally a booger on the wall. We unfolded the pull out couch and there were candy wrappers in it!! Do not waste your money here, stay at any other hotel!! Even after switching rooms there were the exact same issues with the next room it was unbelievable

This place is an absolute dump. I don’t know how the health department hasn’t been called. Every square inch of the property looks like it has never been cleaned. We left in 2 min after check in, dead cockroach’s in our room in multiple areas. Whoever is managing this hole, do better.

Stayed at this location 1 night about a week ago. Need lots of work done to the hotel! Elevators were very slow & seemed as if you would get stuck in there. Bathroom sink looked like it hasn't been cleaned in months, pool area was filthy & No towels were available, people had to go to get their own from their rooms & front desk! Not to mention when upon arrival we paid through a 3rd party and was asked to pay a $50 deposit & it would be returned same day of check out. I NEVER even received the deposit back! Would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone. They're scamming people to pay more than what the room is worth!!

I stayed here on a business trip. From the time I walked in to the time I left the staff was amazing! Susan was the best!! Breakfast was a little lackluster, but Starbucks is a short walk away among the many other restaurants to choose from.

Perfect accommodations for a night's stay on our drive east. The hotel staff was fantastic, even during our late check in. The rooms were spacious and exactly what you'd expect at this price point. Hotel was very clean.

The hotel was surprisingly nice. They had a decent warm breakfast and the room was nice and cozy. I initially booked the room for one night but had to book it again the next day.

I liked the hotel in general. The rooms were a great size. The beds were comfortable. Each room has a pull out couch that isn't bad. They have an indoor pool but we didn't end up using it. The staff was helpful and friendly. The reason I choose 4 stars for the room was 1 light didn't work and the hair drier didn't work. That was kind of disappointing. The breakfast they do is good. Juice, bagel, waffles, eggs and sausage plus other stuff. We would stay again.

2 stars overall for the total amount of children present in the pool. If there was a policy in place where kids had to be out of the pool by a certain time to allow adults to have access, that'd be awesome. However, judging by this, if you're not under the age of 13 don't expect to have any fun in the pool. Rooms are great, but we literally spent over 200 dollars because there was a pool, and could not use it because it was packed like sardines with children. Top notch.

Booked thru a 3rd party site. Room was pretty much one could expect for $120 a night. Pool area looked to be ok, but we never made it that far. Breakfast was kinda pathetic. Beverages were warm, very few options. Overall, it provided a place for us to stay for the night.

spoke wit Nathaniel on the nite shift about my concern for need of walk in shower, i am disabled, Nathaniel gave me “comfort “ in assuring me he would see to it that i will have my accessible room wit walk in shower. being disabled is no fun , but people like Nathaniel are always a pleasant surprise. i had originally ordered this online but the disability information for rooms was very vague. more needs to be done about that.

My wife and I were happy with our visit and would stay again. The receptionist Carlos was very helpful, friendly, and made us feel welcome. The rate was good and it is next to Jersey Mike's.

I called hoping to get a room with walk-in shower. My concern is for my sister. We don't need her falling in a slippery tub. Accessible room was not available but upon arrival, we found that management had bought a very nice tub mat for our room! Service above and beyond.

The room was clean, and they allowed pets for a fee. It was relatively quiet. They have a small convenience "store." Enjoyed our stay.

Wife and I stayed for Football game (Friday-Sunday). Really great location (less than 10 mins from Campus and right off interstate). Room was okay, and front desk staff was very friendly. Amy checked us in and was so nice. For convenience, i would stay again.

Overall experience disappointing. Door didn't close without lifting up on the handle. Remote didn't work. Luke warm water in the shower. Faucet dirty in sink and shower. Towels tread bare. Mirror not clean in the bathroom. Holes in wall. Curtain had rips and stains. bath tube base felt like I could fall thru at any time. Carpet wet and smelled at elevator. elevator entrance very dirty and in need of paint.

The staff was friendly. The room was a good size. There were cup Mark's on the table between the beds. Not a huge deal, I just wiped the table off myself. The pool was freezing. My children swam for about 15 minutes and were so cold they told me they were done. The hot tub wasnt working. The pool and hot tub were why we went. That was a let down. Breakfast was really good.

Entering into this Comfort Suites in South Bend, you're greeted by an open entry with a reception desk, seating adjacent, and an meal area with ample seating. During our visit, all of these areas were always well cleaned and ready for use. Our room was on the third floor, which was easily accessible via elevator or stairs. The elevator operated smoothly, however some of the noises coming from one of the elevator doors were slightly unsettling, if just because elevator doors shouldn't squeal when they open and shut. The room was clean when we arrived. The beds were both made as expected and there were adequate towels and complementary toiletries. I particularly liked the citrus mint shampoo and conditioner (it smelled really nice and was almost better than my normal shampoo/conditioner products). The complimentary hot breakfast was more than I would expected. I didn't partake personally, but the self-service waffles smelled really good each morning. I personally enjoyed the eggs and sausage both days we were staying here. The one thing that drove me to rate the hotel only 4 of 5 stars were some of the issues with the bathroom in our room. Either the door had warped over time, the floor wasn't levelled properly, or some other issue was present - whatever the root of the problem, the bathroom door scrapped along the floor for the last bit as you closed the door, to the point where there were visible scraping marks on the floor. The ventilation fan was also excessively loud, to the point where it sounded like it needed to be replaced soon. On the whole, my stay at this comfort suites was pretty great. I'd still come here again on a trip to South Bend. Thanks for the great place to stay.

We stayed 1 night only here. It was a nice place to stay. Room was nice and quite a large room meant for 2. Pool facility and breakfast buffet were what made the trip. We enjoyed our stay actually. However, even though our stay was really nice, I don't think I would consider staying here again as the $50 incidental retainer is still on hold from my bank 5 days later. After some confusion about checking in, they had two payment methods on file. They put the $50 charge on *both* payment methods, but only returned one. The front desk staff has not all been entirely pleasant, but some helpful. The employee I spoke with said the room was checked and was left in great condition. (We cleaned before leaving so as not to be charged the fee) But now I have to take a letter to my bank to get the money released. This is just a hassle I was not wanting or expecting after only one night. Overall a nice place to stay, but pay attention with your money afterwards.

Nice place I can tell they been doing some updating and still in the works. The beds were good wish the pillows could be a bit cleaner. And maybe clean the rooms little bit better founds some weird things in the dresser. Showers were good and hot and breakfast was good as well. There was a few cons but they can’t help it is having people running down the halls at night. And we couldn’t tell if there was new carpet smell or someone was smoking weed somewhere.

Review for Comfort Suites Near Notre Dame University: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ My stay at the Comfort Suites near Notre Dame University was truly delightful. Right from the onset, the staff displayed unparalleled hospitality, ensuring every need was attended to promptly. The rooms were spacious, impeccably clean, and adorned with modern amenities that ensured a comfortable stay. The hotel's prime location, a stone's throw away from the university, made our campus explorations effortless. For anyone considering a visit to the area, this establishment perfectly marries comfort with convenience. Absolutely top-tier and highly recommended!

We were looking for a reasonable place to spend the night after having driven 400+ miles with our rental truck and 2 pets. After not being adequately accommodated at the first place we checked out, we were fortunate to come across this Comfort Inn. Randall at the front counter was especially helpful. Our room was spacious and clean. Would recommend to anyone stopping by in South Bend.

Everyone that I encountered in the hotel was extremely welcoming and friendly. The gym was also very nice I had read a previous review noting there were no in room refrigerators, but ours did have a small one which is of course helpful. The room itself was very comfortable and quiet.
