It was great. The exhibitions are amazing. The staff are the best. When they saw we are in a big grand we needed a place to pray they emptied a room for us as we were a big group of women and children. Highly recommend visiting and looking forward to go there again. Robin hood adventure was great. We all loved the games.

Can easily spend an hour walking in the museum, seeing the "castle" building, and enjoying a sunny day at the garden. The castle area is located at a height higher than the surrounding of the city, so you can get a good view of all the surrounding buildings.

Great castle with a 1 year lasting ticket. Medium cost. Has 2 coffee shops with lunch menu also. The castle has 4 floor dedicated to robin hood, rebellion, modern gallery and art gallery. Children may love the robin hood floor as it has interactive videogames. There is a lovely children park outside the castle. You can also pay an extra for a guided cave tour, 25 min long, it is worth, but if you have the choose the city cave tour joined with justice museum is better.

Great attraction for both children and adults. Lovely exhibitions on display, with plenty to see and keep you occupied for at least a couple of hours. We also ate in the café; prices were reasonable, and service was very good. The cave tour was also really interesting. Our guide James was very informative, and really brought the stories/history of the caves to life. Groups are small, and there’s plenty of time for photo opportunities. If you’re a Nottingham resident you get a slight reduction on the price of your ticket with proof of address. And don’t forget at the time of booking to ask for the free annual pass; meaning you can revisit the castle as often as you like for an entire year for free! Excellent value for money, and definitely worth a visit.

Firstly, I recommend visiting the Castle, Secondly, dine in the oldest pub that has survived since the Middle Ages, Thirdly, visit the Deer Park 🏞, in which the deer 🦌 graze completely freely, without any pens, Fourthly, visit the building of the Museum of Natural History Fifthly, take a walk around the historic center and soak up the spirit of Robin Hood's times For the night it is worth settling in some old building, in a quiet residential area. Believe me, this is an unforgettable pleasure!

5 Star Attraction. More than well worth a visit. Activities for young and old alike. Cafe and restaurant great to visit. Food very good. At the moment there is a Paul Smith Exhibition which is out of this world and should be in the castle permanently it is that good. There is thing's to do both indoors and outdoors. There is also a nice gift shop. There is great adventure play ground based on Nottingham Castle

There’s a lot to see in the castle but if you have children with you I recommend the Robin Hood adventure center and Robin Hood’s hideout first. There are lots of interactive games there. The hide out is basically a very complex version of a kids play ground. If you are fond of art and potteries I recommend going into the castle first and explore the first and second floor. You can also do some coloring to pass the time if you feel like a rest. I was a bit disappointed that most were built after the building was destroyed so there were no beautiful interior designs or relics in there.

Good place to visit. Note that it is not like a traditional castle that people assume. Insightful exhibitions and artifacts, plus a good Robin Hood exhibition which will be engaging for children.

What a brilliant day! For this weekend only it cost £1 to get in, shows tours entertainment and numerous events were all thrown in Brilliant activities for all ages, and as you can see plenty to see. We came here as we had always wanted to take a look round but previously prices were very high... I'm unsure on the £12 but come back all year style to the new pricing scheme but either way I really hope they stay open and do well this time around. Some truly interesting facts and places to see here, let alone the view from the top was brilliant! We took a really informative tour of the caves short this time around but really enjoyable, And on our way out found a room filled with huge screens and interactive games I could have stayed for hours to watch and listen to it all but there was so much on we didn't want to miss the other shows Again was a great day I highly recommend it to all

Plenty to do but it's not really a castle in the true sense. It was a castle and there are remnants of it and the building that is now there was a stately home I think. The ticket you purchase gives you access to the grounds for a year and we visited over two days. I would recommend you do the Robin Hood experience first which is the first entrance you can see when leaving the shop and ticket office. Some good interactive boards, virtual archery and virtual combat, all good fun. Some fun easy games in the medieval area and the rebellion gallery certainly kept my attention with portrayals of Nottingham castle's history. There's a more formal art gallery and currently an exhibition about people moving to Nottingham from the Caribbean and their heritage. Another thing recommended is a tour of the man made caves that wind their way throughout the hillside. The tour guide had superb knowledge and presented in a really interesting manner, Alrighty! I forgot to mention the views from the balcony are interesting and you can see many of the iconic landmarks of Nottingham. The coffee was good from the cafe in the castle that sells a selection of light meals and cakes etc. Presumably the one attached to the shop is similar. Finally the adventure play ground looks interesting and is suitable for children up to the age of 12. All in all a worthwhile trip.

Recently renovated, the castle is almost in the city centre with lovely views of the surrounding area. A nice playground outside with Robin Hood theme. Also many indoor activities in Robin Hood adventurers entrance. Beautiful artworks as well and nice cafe inside. Would recommend if you are in Nottingham.

My wife and I had a lovely 4 hour trip here on Saturday. It really was a great experience. My only criticism would be that the robin hood adventures was only about 25 minutes long and meant that we couldn't do all the games and watch the film that was showing too. Aside from that it was a great day and really interesting. Thank you

After 20 years of living in Nottingham I finally decided to get round to visit! A spacious, open entrance area greeted us on arrival and we were soon in the grounds. 1st off we tried The Robin Hood experience which was both entertaining and informative, and didn't just focus on the "legend" stuff. Gave a history to how the story came about and was very informative. Some great interactive stuff as well to practice the obligatory archery and staff wielding! Next we had a quick tour of the caves, which are numerous under Nottingham and again with a hugely informative guide (sorry forgot her name!). Time for lunch then in the spacious cafe alongside local celeb Paul Smith who coincidentally was there to launch a new exhibition of his work. Not sure how long it is there but it was very interesting along with the other exhibitions on offer. One was obviously about the whole history of the castle alongside one on the old local lace industry, which in its day was huge. I never realised how large the grounds were and you do get some magnificent views of the surrounding areas. Well with a visit...👍

Very nice visit here on bank holiday. Very modern castle due to restoration. Some parts were really nice whilst some were bit empty. However really good visit and nice experience. Everything is kept neat and tidy.

We bought the tickets online, so there is no need to wait in the queue for a long time. Is 10 minutes walking from the train station, and along the way, you can see Robin Hood statue. The views, the place.. just in love 😍 You can learn many things, and for kids they are so many things and activities inside the castle/museum. We took a CAVE tour as well for £5/person...is something to not miss.

Wow! What a great place to bring the kids to play when you're in the city centre—you pay for entry once and it's good for unlimited visits the rest of the year. Yes, you read that right! Well worth it—lots of interactive games and learning opportunities for all ages, a wonderful play area, gorgeous views of the city, clean loos, lovely cafes, and lush grounds. We didn't know what to expect as far as the kid-friendliness factor, but it did not disappoint in the slightest. Very good value for money, reasonable prices in the cafes and gift shop, and easily a day out on its own—but, with entry covered for the year, this is a much better place to let the kids run and play than amongst the pigeons in Old Market Square..! Please, please visit if you haven't been in a while and visit often (no excuse now!)—it's an absolute gem and an incredible space we should all treasure in this amazing city x x

Not so much of a,castle now, more of a Palace perhaps, however there are lots of reminders to the dark days of history, visit the caves to learn of their uses, the Rebellion exhibition is very informative, discussing the English Civil War and aftermath, the Luddhites, and the 1831 reform act, . The art gallery and lace museums are more than interesting, and I was able to touch a flintlock rifle, whilst being taught about its use. The weather was super, so the grounds and views could be explored

Definitely worth a visit! The ticket is valid for a year! Gardens pretty with fantastic views across the city! A great adventure playground for the children and Robin Hood experience is perfect for younger visitors. The main castle is interesting with art and history galleries, and a super cafe with really friendly staff! Sadly tickets for cave tours were all booked up! So, book online if you want to do this! Don't miss the Brewers Yard round the corner from the castle and next the Old Trip to Jerusalem pub!

The castle is absolutely 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘀! There is so much to do, you could easily spend the whole day here and then even have a bit of time to go into the beautiful city centre to explore more and fully immerse yourselves in all things Robin Hood! We last visited the castle several years ago, and as lovely as it was, there wasn’t much to keep you engaged. Fast forward to 2023, and Nottingham Castle have reopened their gates once again to the public and it’s a brilliant full day out for families now! First of all, it’s 𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲. Most of the gallery rooms you go into have hands on activities. You can make your way to the 𝗥𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗻 𝗛𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 and enjoy the digital games on offer such as archery, you can try on some costumes and even learn more about Sherwood Forest. We loved this part of the castle. There are 4 more floors of galleries to explore, and a cafe on site. There’s plenty of grass so you could take a picnic to save on cost. There’s also a lift within the castle too for access. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁?… 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘁! £12 per adult Kids go FREE 15 years and under! (3 per paid adult) Plus you pay once, then you can visit all year round as many times as you like. It’s such brilliant value for money! We also went on the 𝗰𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝘂𝗿. This is an additional £5 per person. It’s a 40 minute tour of the sandstone caves below the castle. We loved it and the guide gave lots of information too. Lastly, the 𝗵𝘂𝗴𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗸 is such a great asset and brilliant for kids to explore, play and use their imagination in the fort. We parked in Broad Marsh Car Park. It’s a 11 minute walk to the castle which takes you through the city centre square where you’ll find restaurants and shops. Up to 6 hours is £11.00, which is quite expensive but think this is normal for Nottingham. Another option is park and ride sites with the tram too. The car parks are free and a group ticket for unlimited travel on 1 day is £8.00 (for 1 or 2 adults and up to 3 children). This is for weekends and school hols, term time is £12.00. The best one would be The Forest (NG7 6AQ). Free parking, a 7 min tram ride to Old Market Square. From there, the castle is an 8 minute walk away.

Beautiful, well-maintained chateau or ducal palace, with great art galleries. The grounds are very pretty and easy to stroll around. The art collections are varied, in addition to highly engaging interactive installations. Bargain for £13

This is a great experience overall, particularly for kids. There are many interactive displays, with the archery and quarter staff being very popular. Lots of interesting historical stories presented in very engaging ways (the noose display is bold). The outdoor play area is really well done and if you’re lucky the views from there are stunning. Kids go free and the ticket can be used for a year.

Visited the castle today and was quite impressed with the layout of this place and the range of activities offered. restaurant was good for dinner, although a little expensive. The coffee shop was OK for drinks but cake was stale and had to be sent back! Robin Hood experience was great, really enjoyed the archery and story about the characters. Activities were very wheelchair friendly, which was very much appreciated Be aware there is no parking on site, and local car park was not wheelchair friendly. The castle due to its location has issues in this respect but has really tried hard to overcome them. Worth a look!

Huge fun. We (2 adults, 2 children under 12 and one senior) were there for 4½ hours. We didn't even have time for adventure playground. The interactive games and history stories were excellent. Just loved all of it.

Wow. Fantastic transformation to be an interactive, fun, beautifully designed and well laid out place to learn about history - rebellion, legends, artwork, stunning views, re-enactments, caves, games, adventure park, you name it this now has it. It’s not cheap but there’s plenty to do and kids will love it. Lots of super clean modern toilets and a fantastic shop. Staff are just wonderful and love working there. Book ahead to avoid disappointment, and you pay a few pounds extra for the caves and Robin god experience, don’t forget to add it on.

Came today on the heritage day £1.First time I've been since the renovation's and it's fab. A lot of mixed reviews online but can honestly say it's well worth the visit. Lot's for the kids to do took us 3 hours just to get round it all. Will definitely be back again!

Took my son here after reading it had re-opened. The last time I went was a few years ago, and in my opinion, what they've done is fantastic, especially now they've sorted the pricing out. It was mostly interesting (something for everyone, including children). It wasn't too busy, it was easy to find your way around and even the cafe was reasonably priced. Well worth a visit. We bought tickets from the qr code on the way in. And actually, it is quicker, despite it being a little fiddly, you breathe a sigh of relief when you go straight in, though.

Great place to visit very educational for grown ups as well as children..£12 to visit children under 15 are free i believe....saw two cafes the main one being were you pay to enter the castle .various basic foods available.. alternative milks available at no extra charge. .There is another larger cafe in the castle but I didn't go in that ..Great gift shop !!!! There is a tour at various times but I didn't go on that. Great views of Nottingham city from the castle ...

  • 3/5 Bilal M. 7 months ago on Google
The castle is nice, however, the ticket price is high compared to what is inside and what you are going to do. Some galleries are alright, but it is not a museum and a full tour can be done in an hour. Also, the ticket does not include the cave tour, so you need to pay more for this and it has time slots.

  • 4/5 Bailey I. 5 months ago on Google
Easy day activity. We went for Christmas market which was busy and had a lot of good food and things to buy. I was disappointed by how expensive everything was I would have been more inclined to buy something if the price was more fair. £1 entry was good which included free entry to the castle/ gallery & markets with live entertainment. Would definitely recommend for the experience.

Great place, we took my mum in law out for her birthday, and it was a lovely and interesting visit. £12 per adult, and you then have 12 months free admission, and because kids go free, we will be able to take our grandchildren as many times as we want, win-win, I say 😀. The art galleries and other displays were so interesting, and in my book, every day is a school day. Don't miss out on this experience.

Nottingham castle is a fantastic place to visit the castle is set in the middle of the city. The castle has the best view of the city with out a shadow of a doubt. Packed full of art and artefacts the castle has plenty to see and do. Make sure to book a head for the cave tour we went last minute and wasn’t able to go on it but we will definitely return for the caves. The ticket price gets you in all year.

  • 5/5 Wendy N. 5 months ago on Google
So much to do! Cafe, museum, art, history, and children's craft activities. Plus a wonderful outdoor park. Plus a single day's admission costs the same as an annual pass, 12£ and children are free.

  • 5/5 Rishi P. 5 months ago on Google
This is a must visit for people who come to visit Nottingham. I am new here in the city and thought to give a try. This is located at an elevation, so it’s not just about how amazing the artwork is at castle, but also the view of Nottingham from the top. I enjoyed it a lot. I’ll share some pictures and videos and am sure you will visit this place soon.

  • 5/5 Nicola S. 8 months ago on Google
An amazing place with so many galleries, you could easily spend a good few hours here experiencing the grounds and a few galleries and still leave plenty to do and see on another day. The price for the year is amazing. Lovely gift shop and nice little cafe with very friendly and knowledgeable staff. A wonderful place. 🥰

Great place Thoroughly enjoyed visiting, good history about Nottingham and art and museum inside the castle with grounds everyone can enjoy in decent weather. Since I last reviewed this place it's closed for a major revamp, reopened under an independent trust which went bust in rather short order before reopening again under Nottm City Council ownership again. Pics are from that first reopening but it still looks the same. I liked it when it opened under the trust when everyone seemed determined it should fail and people on review sites were moaning about everything and nothing. I still think it's a good afternoon out, especially if you're into the history of the place. At the moment it seems that only the Mortimer's Cave cave tour is on, not sure what's happened to the King David's Dungeon one. It's still £5. I presume that when both are running they'll be £5 each which I think is a bit much. There things for kids to do (Robin Hood gallery and play fort) but they're not in the same places as the adult stuff is so that may be a bit awkward for families. But now your £12 ticket lasts you a year and the Brewhouse Yard museum is included (but only open weekend and holidays) so you can come back as often as you like to see bits that you've missed. There's also a decent family deal ticket too so some of the vfm criticisms have been answered

  • 5/5 Rebecca F. 1 year ago on Google
It was lovely. Beautiful grounds. Nice way to enjoy the afternoon

I'm giving them 4 stars because they have had a lot of issues but they are now back and, I hope, getting better. I spoke to 5 or 6 staff and all of them were polite, friendly and helpful, which is nice to see. One issue with the old management was that £12 seemed a lot for what was on display but they have now made it £12 for the year - much better. I really hope that, by the end of the year, I will be going back and giving them 5 stars. On a very personal note I would love it if they could bring back the dugout canoes :)

Had a great day at Nottingham Castle today, did two tours of the caves and looked at all the various exhibitions from beautiful works of art to lacemaking and Robin Hood! Friendly and knowledgeable staff made the experience all the better. And my ticket is valid for a whole year! Great fun! ☺️

The inside of the Castle has completely lost its charm as a castle. The new facade is sheetrock and cheap flooring. The whole place is much more art deco than historical site. A lot of money has been spent on high tech interactive and educational attractions.

  • 5/5 Alan M. 1 year ago on Google
Very worthwhile. We had a tour of the caverns and enjoyed a very well informed tour guide who explained everything well and answered all our questions and more. Also enjoyed the other exhibits which were very professional and interesting. The Robin Hood interactive exhibit was a lot of fun. A great place to be informed and to then stay longer and enjoy the pleasant grounds and superb views across the city for the day.

The outside garden is the most beautiful thing there. Well maintained and kept. However, I think it was better to made us feel the real ancient ways of life of Robin Hood not the digitalisation that has been done.
