Definitely one of the top attractions in Rio. 360 degree views of the city. Food and drinks available at the top :) if you have time take the helicopter ride from the mountain.

It's a really nice hike. It starts next to the beach (in one of the safest areas of Rio, due to being surrounded by lots of military buildings), and then it's a decent 40 minute hike up to the top. You go through the trees, but the majority of the hike is on steps, so nothing too wild. You may see monkeys along the way, which are super cute, but they're not a natural species, so you're advised not to feed them. The exit closes at 18:00, and the sun goes down at 17:20 (now, in July), so plan your descent accordingly. Going down the trail in the dark is not much fun, even with a torch. If in doubt, take the cable car down (costs around R$30 or £7) The view from the top of the hike is spectacular, and well worth. Enjoy.

The hiking is beautiful and very fresh, takes around 20min but it is an intense experience going up.

The trail runs from Claudio Coutinho trail to the Urca hill. It is 0,7-0,9 km in one way (depend on the information source). For me it took nearly 20 minutes, but I believe for many people it will take even 40 minutes. Part of the trail is a climbing stairs, also a stone slab (check picture), so trail is not good for immobilized people, pregnant woman etc. On the way You can find a view point on Flamengo's neibourhood (check picture). If you like walk in nature, there will be a cross road with a small path that lead to rock wall, right under the Sugar hill (check picture). It is narrow becasue not many people use this small path. If you want to use cable car and go to Sugar Hill, be sure to get to the end of the trail before 17 (maybe even 16:45), because later gate will be closed and you will not get to the cable car station. I have no idea if you need to buy ticket on the main station on the bottom or you can buy ticket here, becasue I was few minutes late and gate was closed. People I met on the trail told me that the gate was closed before 17.

Pretty easy trail to walk if you’re fairly active. At the top these are cable cars that can either take you up to the sugar loaf or down to the start

I love this little trail. It’s the best way to get up Urca. Very peaceful and relatively easy. The climb can take between 20 and 40 minutes depending on fitness levels and the views from the summit are incredible!

It is a more difficult trail, blue square (based on IMBA Trail Difficulty Rating System). It is not recommend during rain or the day after. Descent may be more challenging for some knees, but there is an option to buy a cable car ticket for the descent leg only. Trail takes you to Morro da Urca with some great views of the bay and the Sugar Loaf Mountain. Access through Cláudio Coutinho trail, that is very nice of its own and offers breathtaking views for the less physically inclined.

I would say it's better go there by trekking and then if you wanna back by Bondinho, you'll pay just a little, or at night you can back for free.

I have been to Sugarloaf on two occasions via cable car. This visit I wanted to hike. One of the best hikes in Rio. Hike is suitable for all ages including kids. Can get hot in the afternoons. Don't forget to take a bottle of water. Views from top is simply amazing. If you are lucky, you can also spot some flights that are landing in Rio.

Nice trail, not the best ever, but it's nice. Medium hard level because of the elevation. Once you get up top is not super rewarding because there is only one vote of the city and it is covered by tree branches and then you are greeted by at gate where you can pay 80 reals or more to get on the lift or bike back down. For those in shape it should take you like 15-20min to go up and stop for the view as is just a 750m hike

Short and quite easy trail. In a good day you'll get to see some monkeys. The view is incredible and you can go back down by the same trail. Once you reach the top of the hill you have the option to proceed to the second hill but only cable cars (bondinho). The ticket to the cable car also allows you to go back down to the Praia Vermelha beach stop. Both return options are good and different experiences but equally enjoyable.

Great hike, which only takes about half an hour. On the top you will be rewarded with a great view of the unique landscape.

Be mindful of the weather if you plan to hike, the trail was closed due to rain the day before. The cable car was still enjoyable and easy. You can buy tickets online in advance to avoid some of the long queues but it’s not necessary.

Great views of Rio, excellent infrastruture with shops, bars and a very nice restaurant. Really Worth visiting.

You have to be at the top by the 17.00. And you won't see anything without paying anyways. So imagine being late for 1 minute after pretty hard walk through the wet jungle and watch guard closing the fence before your face. No lookouts on the trail itself.

Beautiful walk through protected nature. Easy to walk trail, no need for special shoes or anything. The view on the hill is well rewarding
