One of our stops on the walking city tour October 2023. There is a gold fountain on one end of the square, it's easy to spot and makes a great meeting point. There is a legend about the fountain. There is a gold ring that you can spin and while you spin it, you make a wish. And it's supposed to come true! The square there are shops and restaurants, bakeries and many chocolate specialty stores. The ginger biscuits are a traditional treat for Nuremberg and there is a vendor in the square that sells just that. Got a small bag for 6.5€ Mmm mmm good 👍 A must try. I love Christmas and found the Christmas specialty store on a side street to the square. Beautiful Christmas 🎄🎁 ornaments. Of course I purchased four of them lol. Price ranges 5€ to 30€ and of course larger pieces are more expensive.

…At first glance it seems as if nothing much has changed! The red & white candy stripe Vendors stalls are still all around the square selling the normal stuff, sausages, fruit 🍇 & vegetables 🌽 etc, etc. A new stall though is the Falafel 🥙 one and it seems popular as the queues were long! The New Red Train 🚂 is also new…it is always busy at this market square even on a weekday….

Nuremberg, the City that has it all. Beautiful Architecture, History, Bustling shops and markets, Romance, Music, Great transport, you name it and all in one place. I left in awe of this city which stands out from others in Germany. A very friendly City and embraces diversity in a very Remarkable way 👏🏼

Timing was perfect for the Herbstfest, the autumn market held in the main Nuremberg market square. Loads of cool stands set up selling everything from kitchen gadgets to kids clothes. Sausage vendors abound. At least 100 vendors selling goods in a picturesque setting with a fabulous church as a backdrop. Photo ops everywhere Handicap doable but the cobblestones could be tricky. Recommended Final take... bring a camera or your phone, an appetite for those famous brats and enjoy the Gemuetlichkeit.

My partner and I both got great lunches for under 13€ combined :) worth the stop if you’re on a tight schedule and don’t want to spend a lot at a restaurant

I'm very cool German market. We weren't there doing the Christmas time but apparently this is one of the largest Christmas markets in Germany. A great place to just spend an hour or two wandering, enjoying some of the local people, food and sites

(Translated by Google) The honey man near the Schönbrunnen. He's not only got super good honey. He also explains a lot about honey, bees, propolis, etc. There you get honey that is CLEAN. No mass production from the supermarket. No plastic squeeze bottles. Honest goods from the honest beekeeper. (Original) Der Honigmann nahe dem Schönbrunnen. Er hat nicht nur superguten Honig. It's a really big and beautiful place to visit not just during Christmas time, but Christmas brings sometimes that you don't find in the other season. Full of Christmas decorations, lights, carols, people having a great time, kids especially. The diversity of handmade items was astonishing, everywhere you looked there was something special, unique. A must see in Nurnberg.

Finally struck it off my list! But planned to come back again…minus the Christmas market to see the square for what it is. The Christmas Markets (not one but three; close to each other) was super busy and throngs of locals and visitors alike soaking up the atmosphere. Missed my mulled wine…it’s like a yearly drink for me😂. With the exception of the pandemic era, 2020-2021, I’ve never missed my grog! The other drink would be undoubtedly HOT CHOCOLATE! For my hubby, it’s BEER…

The Christmas market is big, crowdy and very, very cool. Plenty of small and colorful booths with a wide variety of things. From Christmas decorations to cookies and the must-have glühwein (Hot spicy wine). You have to try also the Nürnberger Rostbratwurst.

Best Christmas market I've been to yet. Loads of stalls to look at and lots of places to eat and drink - definitely put me in a Christmassy mood. And it's very helpful that most of the stall owners speak English, as my German is terrible!

  • 3/5 Michael A. 4 months ago on Google • 141 reviews
Honestly, it is just a Normal Weihnachtsmarkt (Christmas night market). Yes it is big in size as it has different sites like the market for children which I think doesn’t contain alcohol and the site where the partner cities from different countries show their specialty. Although there are a few things that I don’t really like about this market. The alleyways between stalls are too narrow and because there are a lot of people walking through… going to the other side of it was not easy. Another thing is that they dont really have much food stalls compared to other Weihnachtsmarkt and the ones that are available sell the same food. There are really a lot of stalls that sell christmas decorations… so if you are looking for christmas decorations, this might be the place.

Very nice, it was such a wonderful experience. Gluhweinhe, sweets and old musical band created a pleasant atmosphere. It was a magical night in Nuremberg!

A must-visit for anyone in Nuremberg! The atmosphere is lovely, and it offers a genuine taste of the local culture. Really enjoyed exploring!

We came by just after Christmas so the market wasn't running since they were still packing away from the Christmas market. It would've been nice to see it but the area itself is quite nice with the Church of Our Lady on one end and the Schoner Brunnen on the other. It was quite a nice stop even tough we weren't able to walk around freely.

Really nice farmers market in the main square. Lots of vendors with fruits and vegetables. Also many food vendors. I let the kids each pick out what they wanted and they really enjoyed everything. Great pictures with all the colors.

One of the interesting places to visit in Nuremburg is public square known as Hauptmarkt. This square dates back to the Middle Ages and is the location of some of the most interesting attractions in Nuremburg as well as important festivals throughout the year, including the world famous Nürnberg Christkindlesmarkt (Christmas Market). Known historically as a market square, this is the location of the historic Frauenkirche (Church of our Lady) and the delightful Schöner Brunnen. You can also find neat retail shops on the square including Schmidt, Wicklein and others where you can try the world-famous Lebkuchen, a local speciality that is similar to gingerbread. While normally a Christmas seasonal food, you can find it in these shops year round. We visited at the beginning of this year's Nürnberg Christkindlesmarkt and found Hauptmarkt packed with crowds pretty much all of the time, day and night. This was a really fun market with so many interesting stalls selling gluhwein, local holiday foods and as well as many decorations, ornaments and other holiday items. It was enjoyable popping in for a glass of gluhwein in between sightseeing in the area.

A classic open air piazza style market in Germany's largest old town. Carrots & cafés, fruit & finery, etc.

  • 5/5 Community C. 2 years ago on Google
The main market square in Nürnberg is full of historical buildings and facts at the center of the old town, leading up to the castle. It features an old fountain, a big church and there is, of course, a market, where you can buy local produce and snacks from around the world. There are many different cafés and restaurants and you can also get on to different guided tours from here. It is also right around the corner from the medieval castle, where you can also find many different tours. If you are in to gruesome history facts, visit the old dungeons and prison. If you are in to medieval history, this is the place to be!

Nice food market, it’s also good to go there when everything is closed, you can have a nice view of the whole spot without many people

Maybe because of the winter season and the pandemic restrictions, the market was lonely. I could imagine how it would be nice when it's more lively.

Absolutely loved the Nuremberg Christmas Market! As a local, visiting this historic market is always a festive highlight. The charming atmosphere, centuries-old traditions, and delightful stalls create a magical experience. From the iconic Nuremberg sausages to handcrafted ornaments, the market is a sensory delight. The twinkling lights, live music, and the scent of mulled wine add to the enchantment. A must-visit for anyone seeking the true spirit of Christmas in Germany!

Awesome place with many options. It’s really nice atmosphere and the vendors don’t pressure you into buying. Great place to pick up souvenirs and items you use daily. Great place to hang out and spend time.

  • 3/5 Sandra M. 1 year ago on Google
Pros: - lots of variety of goods of stalls - good street food that's fair priced (especially the langos cart) Cons: - the fruits and vegetables are incredibly overpriced and are priced in quantities of 100 grams so it makes it difficult to estimate how much your produce will cost I'd recommend checking out the market at least once as it's quite large, in a scenic area of town, and has a variety of goods. I would, however, be careful when purchasing produce; everything is about 2-3 times the cost of produce in the supermarkets, but some stuff is much higher (Carrots €7 per kilo at the main market vs. €1.5 per kilo at Netto).

Went to the Christmas Market there for the warm cozy atmosphere we've been hearing about, and it was all true. Over 100 vendors setup with various sights, sounds and smells to get your shopping list completed in a hurry while you pamper yourself with a Glühwein and a half meter sausage. What a wonderful way to spend an afternoon or evening with friends and family!

Whoa what a holiday filled place. There were many families and friends enjoying the festive booths filled with knickknacks, food, and drinks. Very crowded so if you're not used to being around people because of COVID beware of the huge crowds.

Beautiful place to visit, and while Christmas makes it a more magical and picture-perfect place to be at the end of the year, I'm sure it's incredible all year. The local market is absolutely fascinating, and the beautiful antique shops are the icing on the cake. One of Germany’s oldest towns with a rich history, you can travel back in time in the great city wall and enjoy the scenic view from the long city wall lobby. Beautiful architecture with historic buildings and European townhouses. I adored the location and intend to return with my family.

It's was a nice sunny Saturday morning of April 2023. The place was crowded. It felt as if a street party. Many shops, food, and drink options to choose from. The best thing about the place is that there is no pollution and is kept clean. It was a beautiful experience.

This was an open air market in the heart of old town Nuremberg. It had a great number of vendors selling crafts, clothes, jewelry, food, candy, baked goods and much more. It was set up in a town square surrounded by cafes, restaurants, a church and other buildings.

Herb markt starts from 17 sep2020 to 4th October 2020 variety of shops to check for local product away from supermarket. These products are little bit costly and without any brand name but seems like authentic some are from Germany but toys were from china. This market is next to lady's Church and fountains. You can also get city tour train which cost around 4.5 euros but this train covers nearby places and very slow in speed you can walk faster than this train. Seems like for kids it is good. Plenty of restaurants to have lunch and dinner. You can also reach to pegnitz river which is in walking distance and also imperial Castle is also in walking distance. You can come here by U bahn station Lorenkirche which is also famous old church
