One
of
the
interesting
places
to
visit
in
Nuremburg
is
public
square
known
as
Hauptmarkt.
This
square
dates
back
to
the
Middle
Ages
and
is
the
location
of
some
of
the
most
interesting
attractions
in
Nuremburg
as
well
as
important
festivals
throughout
the
year,
including
the
world
famous
Nürnberg
Christkindlesmarkt
(Christmas
Market).
Known
historically
as
a
market
square,
this
is
the
location
of
the
historic
Frauenkirche
(Church
of
our
Lady)
and
the
delightful
Schöner
Brunnen.
You
can
also
find
neat
retail
shops
on
the
square
including
Schmidt,
Wicklein
and
others
where
you
can
try
the
world-famous
Lebkuchen,
a
local
speciality
that
is
similar
to
gingerbread.
While
normally
a
Christmas
seasonal
food,
you
can
find
it
in
these
shops
year
round.
We
visited
at
the
beginning
of
this
year's
Nürnberg
Christkindlesmarkt
and
found
Hauptmarkt
packed
with
crowds
pretty
much
all
of
the
time,
day
and
night.
This
was
a
really
fun
market
with
so
many
interesting
stalls
selling
gluhwein,
local
holiday
foods
and
as
well
as
many
decorations,
ornaments
and
other
holiday
items.
It
was
enjoyable
popping
in
for
a
glass
of
gluhwein
in
between
sightseeing
in
the
area.
