Located on the tip of the Oakland shipping area, between the Bay Bridge and Alameda, is a large open area with trails, coves, wild animals (lots of geese!), picnic spots, an observation tower for even better elevated views (stairs. no elevator), and a “ghost building”. The land is the site of the previous Oakland Naval Supply Depot which was an important supply center for the Navy’s Pacific Fleet during WWII through 1998. The “ghost building” can be seen by the varying cement “paths” throughout the land (and even in the parking lot), out of place walls, and zig zag paths. Swimming is not allowed especially because the drop off from the shore is very sudden and very deep. It was previously dredged to allow room for naval ships. Don’t miss the white dolphin sculpture on the shoreline near the platform path. If you come during lunch you may get to see some sea birds finding their meal via some unlucky mussels. While the view of the city is amazing, take a minute to observe the massive shipping containers and cranes in action or the various types of boats heading into the bay from Jack London. Fishing is allowed. There is plenty of parking. The parking closest to the observation tower is handicap only. There are bathrooms at the observation tower and near the parking lot.

It's easy to reach using Google maps. There are two parking lots. The first one is huge and it's near the round about. The second parking lot is only 50 feet from the observation tower but it's only wheel chair accessible parking lot. There is a bike lane which connects the first parking lot and the observation tower. It's perfect to see the bay bridge and San Francisco city. Early morning running will give you a chance to enjoy 🌞. You must see the North America's largest crane. Right place to see a huge cargo ship. It's interesting to see how trailers were off loaded from ships. Historical place. A calm place to walk alone. Less crowded. Parking is free.

On a clear day you get a sweeping view of the bay. Also you can get pretty "up close and personal" with the iconic dock cranes (the rumored inspiration for Lucasfilm ' AT-AT Walkers). The geese keep to themselves and are better at keeping their poop off the walkways than they are at Lake Merrit.

Check it out. It's kind of an industrial area but we enjoyed our visit and sometimes you can catch them unloading the cargo containers from the ships which we found rather interesting.

It’s challenging to reach by bike or foot but the views are worth the trouble.

This park has a lot of history. Ok for a short walk or a BBQ. Don't expect green grass to run around on. Great place to watch ships go by.

When you can have it to yourself, it's a wonderfully expansive spot from which to view Port of Oakland actividades, migrating birds, estuary entrances and exitos. When other people come around, especialmente con los niños, and the unmasked zombies who are incapable of measuring 6-12ft distance, it's to be avoided. In other words, los mejores experiencias son de 7:45am a 10:45am, en general. Update 02/20/22: also good to go after 3p, the closer to sunset the better. Leave yourself enough time to walk back to the parking lot before it gets dark!

This shoreline Park is a hidden gem. You drive out into the industrial areas and find this beautiful little Park A short walk to the water takes you to the observation deck. Free telescopes and a wonderful view awaits. Leashed dogs are welcome
