Beautiful restaurant on Lake Merritt! I’m so glad we stopped by to have lunch here. We luckily got seated outside by the lake in a booth. It was comfortable and the fresh air felt nice. Staff members provided exceptional service and the food was delicious! The strawberry guava lemonade (not pictured) was a refreshing sweet and tart flavor. We enjoyed the Crab Melt Sandwich and Seafood Linguine (not pictured). Highly recommend this restaurant. It’s perfect for a date or outing with family and friends!

We had a good dining experience. I made reservations for 1, then it grew to 4 but not a problem. Our food was well presented and seasoned, not a long wait either. But if you are not going to provide an item, please remove it from your menu! (sweet potato fries)

Good atmosphere by Lake Merritt. We got lucky to be there at 4.30 pm Sunday and there were a couple parking spot in the front (probably the only two spots left 😆). The service and food were awesome!! Drinks a little pricy but ok. We got crème brûlée for dessert. It was too sweet for us. It’s still a good experience overall!

We were a group of 7 that came in at various times and the waiter did his best to keep our orders coming in as fast and close as possible (it was also a VERY busy Saturday!) The alcoholic drinks were fantastic and the portions of meals were good size. However, the tables for larger groups are all quite close and it was very loud and difficult to hold conversations. But everyone had a great time!

Had a wonderful lunch on a picture perfect day with a friend at the Lake Chalet Seafood Bar & Grill on Lake Merritt. No food photos because we had a lot of catching up to do! We sat by the water—she had fish and chips, I had the fried chicken sandwich with jalapeño slaw, spicy aioli and truffle fries. The Chalet is a destination with beautiful views on Oakland’s famed Lake Merritt.

Wonderful location but poor service and so-so pricey food. Don't get the crab melt which is half a sandwich for $29. The lobster roll was much better for the same price. The clam chowder was the best of the three. No check-ins on food or refill of beverage. Another waiter dropped a white sauce that spattered our legs and clothes. All we got for that was a sorry although he did clean it up in the boardwalk floor. I emailed Dustin per his request but no response so far.

Great food had a dish come in underseasoned, but they remade the dish the right way, and it was amazing. The drinks were on point as well I tried the lavender lemon drop, and it was great. I will come back to taste more.

Good food with a great view. Came here for brunch: the food was good(wish they had more options for breakfast) portion sizes are ok & the drinks are good. Our server was super nice. Looks like they are pet friendly cos I saw quite a few dogs. Best part is the View. Check it out

This was such a welcome and pleasant surprise. We could not go to Fishermans Wharf due to an accident so we looked for a good clam chowder place and found this restaurant. Wonderful atmosphere, outdoor dining on the dock was fantastic. Superb clam chowder and our waiter Victor was so kind and attentive. Would love to come back again. The prickly pear sangria was super tasty also.

A great dog friendly spot to have lunch after a walk around Lake Merritt. Relaxed atmosphere, views from pier, shade with umbrellas and a water dish for the dog. Not too crowded during the week. Crab cakes were tasty, but rather small. Seared Ahi salad was also delicious. Extensive beer and cocktail menu.

At the Lake Chalet Restaurant with my old pal Fathead Marlow we were at his favorite jazz joint listening to one of the best horns in the country until about 2am last night and nothing goes better to fix a hangover than a bigass fried chicken sandwich, that's for sure. The food was amazing as well as the service. 5 stars ☆☆☆☆☆

Service was hit and miss. We got seated right away but took a while to get anyone to take our order. Once they did, food came out pretty quick but looks like we came in right before happy hour so maybe they had more folks just start. Food was okay. Nothing extraordinary but nothing bad either. The seafood deviled eggs were basically smoked salmon deviled eggs, which was fine for us but may be a bit deceiving for others. Brussel sprouts were good with mint adding a unique twist. Fish and chips were about average and risotto was bland.

Took an impromptu walk and decided to try Lake Chalet. Arrived just as Happy Hour started on Monday and had a delightful time.

We had dinner..the view was really nice with all the lights shining on the water. The service was just right. My asparagus wasn't cooked...I had to send it back...😞 The sauce for the calamari Almandine was excellent 😃

My son took me here during a visit last week. He said it was his favorite place, and I can see why. I had the Braied short rib dinner and a Peach Bellini. Excellent! It looks like a quaint little place from the outside, but you're in for a surprise once you walk in. Definitely on the list for my next visit.

From the Central Valley and dinner plans in the City fell through and I wanted Clam Chowder. Looked on Yelp and this place had good reviews. Headed there around 7pm knowing they closed at 9, according to Google. Get there and parking was surprisingly easy. Didn't have reservation so 45 minute wait. Longer than I wanted but just came from the City so I'll wait. Seated and it's now after 8. Beautiful view on water. That view was the best thing about the place. Our server had only us out there on water and seemed to forget. We ordered 2 bowls of clam chowder, loaf of bread, and fish and chips to share. About 10 minutes later our server said the kitchen was out of chowder. Literally the only thing I wanted but I do realize it was late so we asked for a few minutes to peruse the menu. My teen didn't see anything else she wanted so she settled on her own fish & chips. The server took a very long time to head back and we told her "just another fish & chips." Our bread finally comes. It's grilled AND cold. Hmm...weird. Then, after another long wait, one plate of fish & chips arrives. We said we ordered 2. The guy says he will let the server know. After another long wait our server comes over and says she misunderstood and will tell kitchen to rush another plate. My teen eats the first plate and I get mine about 15 minutes later with an apology. Check comes for $60. I thought maybe they'd comp something or discount but no. I left unimpressed. Especially after I visited the disgusting restroom on my way out. Go for the view, if you must, but nothing special otherwise.

One of my favorite Sunday brunch places. Amazing food and drinks. If you got a group you are going to have a wonderful time at their dock. I would recommend call them ahead of time and book a spot (My favorite is their booths on the dock). They normally have 30-40 mins wait on a regular weekend for brunch time. They have valet parking $15, you can park by the street as well but it has time limit for 2 hrs.

Alright by lake chalet everyday and I like the way the place is kept up and the atmosphere is always peaceful so if you ever see me don't hesitate to say what up but I might be moving kind of fast

What an iconic restaurant and as beautiful as ever right on the lake! Excellent food, location and service. Love the delish vegan option as well as some vegan sides!!! The outdoor spaces are expansive and being out on the water is fun and peaceful at the same time

Went here for taco Tuesday. We were a big group and didn't have issues getting some outdoor seating. The food and drinks were great and the weather was perfect for sitting outdoors. They were able to set up some tables together for us. I tried the shrimp tostadas, chicken, fish, and carne tacos, deviled eggs, calamari, and some oysters. The food was very good.

We went for Prime Rib night. The Prime Rib itself was delicious and their salad was really great. Everything else was just alright. The Yorkshire Pudding though, has anyone who likes Yorkshire Pudding in tears of sadness. It was the consistency of a hockey puck. Again, if you know anything about Yorkshire Pudding. It should be the opposite of that. All and all probably won’t be heading back anytime soon.

The food was so very good, the clam chowder was unbelievably good, but had mine with a scoop of crabmeat on top. After my wife tried to eat mine I reminded her that there's more in the back if she'd just order it. I ordered the Sea Bass and my wife said I was making love to my food. Yes It was that good. Great date night spot. Looking forward to trying the outside seating on a warm night.

Amazing, the food was perfect! Had the Grand seafood linguini and the pasta to meat ratio was perfect! The oysters on the halfshell where fresh and delicious had all of them but my favorites that I recommend are the miyagis and the standish. My waiter wad very attentitive and circulen around frequently to make sure I had everything needed. Amazing customer service, Billy Ray the waiter was by far the best waiter I have ever had. Recommend this place to anyone who wants quality service, good food and great views. Will be visting again very soon!

Beautiful wood patio area over looking the lake. I had the oysters, crab cakes, and blackened fish tacos. Absolutely delicious and a must visit. Located downtown Oakland on lake Merritt.

Excellent for gorgeous views of Lake Merritt, however, the food was not worth the price. The building transports you back to another time, I would have liked to sit at the old bar and eat a few oysters. The truffle fries with aioli was a delicious starter. I ordered the lobster roll but it was presented in an unappetizing way - they dug a hole in the buttered brioche bun and stuffed some lobster meat in it. Typically rolls are overflowing out of the bun, but this barely made it over the top of the roll. My friend’s crab Louie salad looked pretty good but she said it was ok. The staff was attentive - checking in from time to time and pleasant. While the food was not impressive, the views were. See if you can get a table outdoors on the pier on a gorgeous day or make a reservation for their indoor dining room.

What’s good: the food, the drinks, the view from the bar. What’s sad: a bartender who ignores you other than to take your initial drink order.(He checked in with the babes next to us five times while we were eating our meal.) Arrive after 12 noon on a Sunday and be prepared for a 1.25-2 hour wait. Valet parking is $15 without tip; worth it.

Lovely! On the water. Great view of Lake Merritt. Excellent menu! Seafood deviled eggs are a great way to start. 4 selections of oysters. Very nice staff.

This was a fun ambiance! I ordered the vegan risotto which was yummy but a little too healthy for me. I think I was looking for the buttery, unhealthy version! I think the shrimp tacos are popular. I also ordered the Arnold Palmer which wasn't on the menu. Overall, great views and a fun experience.

What a Great Lakeside restaurant for gathering. Great foods, magnificent view, and beautiful servers. Our group - SMAC-BAPB, had exhilarating time reunited after 2+ years of not meeting each other. The Lake Chalet was indeed the perfect place to rekindle our friendship! Highly recommend this lovely restaurant!!!
