👍👍 A classic East Bay hiking area. The fire trail itself is just challenging enough to tire out an active five year old boy taking a nice slow walk with his friend. We didn't hike the whole trail but we walked up the steep part and had a picnic at the top. Along the fire trail are plenty of side paths... People often mention trail, view,

A classic East Bay hiking area. The fire trail itself is just challenging enough to tire out an active five year old boy taking a nice slow walk with his friend. We didn't hike the whole trail but we walked up the steep part and had a picnic at the top. Along the fire trail are plenty of side paths and challenging shortcuts for those who like to take the road less traveled. It's also possible to cheat and drive up to the top I suppose.

One of the nicest hikes in Berkeley. Easily accessibly by city bus. One of the best places to visit on a sunny weekend.

A really nice trail for enjoying the view of Berkeley and Oakland, the smell of the ocean, and the rustic vibes of the forest. It was a very enjoyable walk downhill to Berkeley everyday. Definitely better than the usual pitch road downhill, even if it takes around 1.5 hours at a normal pace. The other trail that took around 45 minutes downhill was closed this summer, so we took this route instead!

Easily accessible trails. Quite some elevation gain to get there but completely worth it. Beautiful view of the bay area. Perfect for a relaxing walk or run. Dogs allowed.

This trail give stunning views over the Bay Area, San Francisco, Oakland and the Golden Gate Bridge. It's well worth to loop around to the s Skyline Ridge Trail for the best views.

Would give 5 stars but the forest is in decline. Many Monterey pines are near the end of their life cycle. Be careful on windy and wet days. Great view at the redwood bench.

The hike is mostly incline from where I started. The parking situation is atrocious and I couldn't tell if what we parked in was even a type of lot or not. There are two ways to go. One follows along the side of the road and the other goes into a shaded canopy that has a gradual incline. I chose shade obviously. The trail became more challenging as the incline got steeper. The scenery was nice but I've been to nicer. There is a point though where the view of Marin County is just breaktaking. I don't know if just I went on a good day or a good time of day but the bay was very much visible and a sight to see. We came to a point where there is clearly some lumbering going on and the trail smelled like freshly cut down trees and I decided to turn back because I was unsure at this point if I was headed the right way. It's dog friendly and not as crowded as other places I've been it was a 7.4 mile hike that I completed there and back in total in or around about 2.5 hrs maybe. Deserves to be revisited eventually and maybe this time take pictures to share.
