Pleasantly surprised 😲 by the visit to this palace, baroque art in all its splendor. Entrance at €9 euros per adult, it's worth it. We spend a good hour there admiring all the rooms. It's not cold there 🥶, the rooms are heated. On the ground floor you will find toilets 🚽 located next to the storage room, after the checkout room. A lift is available for 🦽 disabled people. Selfie stick 🤳 are prohibited!

Nice Residence, internal visit is also interesting. It costs €9,00 per person. I recommend it. But unfortunately you cannot take photos of the interior. All the signs and boards with the history of every part of the place are in German and also English.

Beautiful interiors. The only downside is that no pictures are allowed. In theory, a permit is needed in all Bavarian palaces that can be visited with a guided tour. The cost to do it is outrageous, and it's not allowed for private, personal use. Luckily, you are allowed to tour the place on your own. If tour guides or other people who work there are not around, you can take some awesome pictures with your phone. There's a church on the right side that's worth visiting.

I've visited the Residenz many times over the years and it's always an amazing experience. I love walking in the gardens, climbing the terraces and enjoying the view of the palace. This time I went inside again after several years and it was a very pleasant surprise to see how the presentation has changed. The large prints of black and white photos showing the destruction after 16 March 1945 add an impressive layer to the historic rooms.

Stunning palace. Definitely suggested the guided tour to see some of its internal space. Really well organized and with very interesting explanation. Not allowed to take pictures inside the palace. After the tour, it's possible to visit the gardens of the palace. Amazing gardens with tons of flowers around. Very good place for taking some pictures.

Strongly recommended if you are in Würzburg. A beautiful piece of architecture with an amazing interior and an absolutely beautiful garden. The only drawback is that you cannot take the pictures of the palace from the inside. A very well maintained garden area with many varieties of flowers and a fountain in the backyard. The entry to the garden is free and you can see the palace from inside with an entry fee of 9€ per person. Garden has several vantage points of clicking nice pictures.

Beautiful place to visit if you stop by in Würzburg. With the entrance ticket you will get a free tour within the residence. It start every 20min and will take round about 20minutes. The offering the tour in German and English Language. Backpacks are not allowed in the building but you have plenty of lockers there were you can put you luggage. You need a 1 € coin.

Beautiful palace, with amazing architecture, but I feel a bit dissapointed as they sell full price tickets on closing times..almost everything was closed when we went there at 16 pm, the church, the garden, at least they should give a warning when you by the tickets. Otherwise, a fantastic place.

On the 10th day of our Viking Grand European Tour, we stopped at this grand location. This is part of tour package so we didn’t have to pay the entrance fee. The Residence is grand on the outside as well as on the inside. It’s just a little bit disappointing not to be able to take pictures inside but to see it with my own eyes is great. Upon completing the inside tour, you can also visit the courtyard garden and enjoy the flowers, shrubs and trees that complement the grandeur of this tourist attraction. By the way, the place is also wheelchair accessible via an elevator if you want to go to the main attraction inside the building.

One of my favorite castle in Germany. It’s a really beautiful place and there’s so much to see. The rooms are very beautiful and some impressive. However, the staff was quite unfriendly and even a bit rude. They also do not allowed photos inside but I saw a lot of people doing it and the staff ignored them so I did the same. I also want to mention that they have beautiful blossom in their garden during spring. It was magical!

The building is amazing. I don't know too much about art, but definitely all the art there is really cool. You can't leave Wuerzburg without going to the Residenz. The only bad thing that I noticed, is that is very crowded and they don't let you take pictures of the place freely.

Sehr beeindruckend.

Undoubtedly a heritage to protect, an imposing princely residence and like all noble royal palaces they were embellished with majestic techniques, a class of Italian painters, in this case Giovanni Battista Tiepolo of Venice. A residence that continues to give richness to the fantastic surrounding area. definitely worth visiting 🇩🇪

Sehr eindrucksvolles Schloss.

Echt prima.

  • 5/5 Bob C. 9 months ago on Google
Definitely worth doing the tour in English as the guide was both informative and amusing. The entire palace is quite extraordinary, particularly since it was reconstructed following the British Obliteration in the Second World War (May will be forgiven please). The attention to detail in the restoration is worthy of particular comment, no one would know that these are not the original plaster, stucco or frescoes.

It doesn't look like much from the outside, but inside - you definitely don't want to miss it! The incredulous wall and ceiling paintings, the breath taking mirror room and the amounts of silver and gold throughout are just one part of it, there's lots more. Saying that, I usually don't like castles too much, but this one.... Boy-oh-boy

  • 5/5 Carl C. 9 months ago on Google
All I can say is Wow! I never expected to see a work of art of this magnitude in Wurzburg. This reconstructed residence of the prince-bishops of Wurzburg is truly a gem and worth visiting. Entrance inexpensive at less than 10 Euros.

It is very beautiful residence in Würzburg. We can not take a picture for inside of residence. However there are many amazing displays. Beautiful place!!! Absolutely must see! If you like Ludwig II castles you definitely would like to see this one. It has been completely restored after WW. Luckily they had a lot of pictures and paintings, so all details was restored and the interiors look almost the same as they were. Unfortunately you can't make photos and videos inside. It's strictly forbidden. But in the castle's garden you are free to go.

Absolut sehenswert.

A daily trip to Rezidenz Würzburg was really worth it. To enter inside the Palace or residenz you have to purchase an entry ticket, however to enjoy this Unesco world heritahe building from outside ,its garden and orangerie are free. To reach it , you can either take some trams or walking from Würzburg central station approx 10-15 minutes.

I've been on a English tour to view inside. It's currently closed due to COVID-19 restrictions. When I visited in the past, it was great. Not only you'll be amazed by architecture of this magnificent structure, you can vividly imagine how the life of aristocratic residents may have lived in the past. You'll enjoy hofgarten in the late spring to fall when vegetations are vibrant for sure.

Nice palace, nothing espectacular, but the blueish with silver room is different from the boring gold decorations you always come upon in Europe palaces. All the artists of course are italian. The garden is free, the palace entrance is 9€. I would say skip the interior, just walk the nice garden.

  • 5/5 Lore C. 3 years ago on Google
Beautiful palace that was almost completely destroyed during WW2 and rebuilt with tremendous effort to its former glory. The interior rooms are very opulent and beautiful, the outside gardens are very lovely too. Definitely worth a visit I'd love to go back there one day.

one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. You will never regret paying only 9 euros for it. It is one of the must-see places if you are in Würzburg. It took me 3 hours just to soak up the interior. Very amazing sculpture, building, color meaning, everything is amazing. And the park next to it was also clean and comfortable, of course you can enter it for free. And don't forget one thing. You have to leave your bag and put 1€ in the locker to keep it and get it back when you're done. I had a 50 cent coin and it wouldn't work. A perfect place to take a perfect picture, just like a painting.

Very nice nice to visit with a very beautiful garden. Such a pity pity, it’s forbidden to take a photo inside but it really worth a visit. Special in most of the rooms show the old picture how this resident had been destroyed from the fire bombs. It’s really amazing how they build it all up again.

I took a train from Frankfurt to Wurzburg, just to visit here. The palace has breathtaking views from every room. I felt goosebump and feel some unknown energy every I go. I feel I am not the only one person in the room.

  • 4/5 Radhika P. 3 years ago on Google
I was very fascinated by the art work(specially the ones which were rebuilt after WWII) in this palace. Most of the palace was destroyed in war but you can see the effort in rebuilding it once you visit inside. Some rooms are extremely luxurious. The roofs and walls are either painted or decorated. The entry fee is 9€ and they provide locker rooms to keep your belongings. Photos /phones are not allowed inside. You will enjoy the garden outside the palace too .Made thoughtfully and gives a relaxing space around the palace.

  • 5/5 Wesley D. 6 months ago on Google
Added as a last minute stop on our roadtrip from Frankfurt south into Bavaria, Wurzburg was a stunningly beautiful attraction. The structure is in good repair without being overly redone as to eliminate the authenticity of the original. The grounds are well manicured and offer peaceful scenery for a relaxing stroll and picturesque backdrop for photos. The self-guided tour offered us the ability to explore at our own pace. Our only struggle was with the parking. I assume this was mostly because we only speak/read English and did not understand the protocol. Despite that we highly recommend stopping at Wurzburg if given the opportunity.

We did a day trip from Munich to Würzburg and the palace is breathtaking. The work on the walls and the lighting and decor was mesmerizing. The fact that Napoleon spent a night at this very palace is special. You can get a tour of the palace in English and the entry ticket costs €9/ per person and if you are w astudent you pay one euro less. The palace gardens are stunning. Must visit if you are in Munich for a while

An extravagant showcase of the exuberant arts and crafts of the Rococo period. Now a city in Bavaria, southern Germany, in the 18th century, Würzburg was a small independent state ruled by prince-bishops. In 1720, Prince-Bishop Johann Philipp Franz von Schönborn ordered his architect Balthasar Neumann to begin construction of a lavish new palace. Aided by other prominent architects from Germany and France, Neumann created a building that was a fusion of European Baroque styles, costing 1.5 million guilders (when a guilder was a worker’s weekly wage). The exterior was completed by 1744, but work continued for another quarter century on the interior—a masterpiece of ornamental carving, stucco, glass, and gilt dominated by the vast, colorful ceiling and wall paintings of Venetian Rococo artist Giovanni Battista Tiepolo. Rebuilding history. In 1945, much of the building was destroyed by Allied bombing. The sections that survived intact fortunately included the Imperial Hall, the main staircase and vestibule with their irreplaceable Tiepolo frescoes, and the White Hall with its prodigious stucco work. Inspired efforts by modern craftsmen have since recreated other parts of the original interior. The residence was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1981.

Some very impressive rooms in this palace especially considering that most of it was destroyed in 1945 and then restored over the years. However, I have no understanding at all for not allowing photography inside! Especially because the books available in the shop have sub standard quality photos in them. The Residenz in München has no such policy. Photos are memories!

Very impressive place with beautifully restored rooms, most of which were largely destroyed in 1945. Unfortunately you cannot take photos inside, which is even more a pity since the offering of photo material in the shop is rather limited. That's a real shame and it would foster interest in the history and beauty of the place if suitable photographic memories were possible and available.

Not just another palace! If you're thinking of skipping because you've seen so many, reconsider. The inside is truly stunning. The ceiling paintings, the mirror room, and the pink marble "ballroom" are on another level. This is what all other palaces aspire to be, and photos do not do it justice. It's both a crime and a blessing that photos aren't allowed. For once I can put away my camera and all its distractions, not feel the need to rush for the best photos, and just use my own eyes to really appreciate the masterpiece that is this palace. Take your time and study all the details. Even if you read all the painting placards, it doesn't take too long, and it really enriches the experience. Midday is a nice time to come, to waste away the hot hours. Save the gardens for when it's cool, earlier or later in the day. They're open longer. If you use the lockers, be sure to keep some money with you. The gift shop is upstairs near the end of the tour.

Immaculately restored since allied bombing in WW2 - amazing building that is definitely worth the visit. Guided tours of the main rooms included with the price of 9 Euros. No photos allowed but I managed to take a few

Very beautiful place. The architecture is very nice. It is a museum and if you have the time to visit it, you will learn a lot of Wurzburg history. There is also a very ancient wine cellar which is worthy visiting. There are wine tasting tours and the wine quality is very good. There is a big parking lot structure.
