Typical German place to taste delicious food and good German beer! It's super big and spacious, very traditional and typical! Vegetarian options available! Would definitely recommend and go there again!

Awful experience. Food is decent, but definitely not worth the price. Waiters are rude and not careful at all. They served us a wrong dish, which we didn't order, and even seemed reluctant to change it. Not a single word of excuse. There are much better places where to eat typical Frankfurter food in Sachsenhausen, avoid Wagner!

You can feel the real German atmosphere in Frankfurt and the Apfelwein is the must try in this restaurant. Highly recommend the Frankfurt Schnitzel (beef) with their special Green source! I was surprised to see bridal party and the birthday gatherings in a big group. Very loudly and noisy place but enjoyable atmosphere. We got 4 shots (Mispelchen) for free and it was really nice!

The food is incredible!!! I think this must be one of the best restaurants I've ever been to in my life. The waiters are not very friendly and they push you to tip them. I believe a tip is well deserved when the service is outstanding or at least if the staff is kind... Nevertheless, the food, OMG, you have to come and give it a try yourself ☺️

Best apple wine. Gives old and traditional vibes. Food is good and the ingredients tastes fresh. Not much in the menu except for traditional German food. Service is decent . Recommended for the authenticity. I tried again recently and it was awesome.

Dinner, the meatloaf with fried onions and potatoes. One of the best meals I had during my visit to Germany. The dessert was an apple strudel, which was great also. Paired with apfelwein (apple cider) and it was good too, although Somersby is still my favourite. Bottom line is, this restaurant is everything everyone says it is. Very family like atmosphere, food is amazing, and the service is great and in English if needed. Thank you for a great end to our trip!

If you want an authentic Frankfurt experience, you have to visit this place! The place was extremely crowded and noisy, but I guess that's the specific atmosphere on a Saturday evening, with a big NFL game the second day. The food is as traditional as it can be :). The first taste of this apple wine that is specific to Frankfurt is not what you expect from a wine; is more similar to cider, but more soft, velvety somehow. The taste kind of grows on you. :) The staff... heroes! I don't know how they can make it through evening like this!... and still be kind to people coming for a night cup. Chapeau bas!!! You can also take home a bottle of apple wine for just 3 eur :)

We had a nice meal at Apfelwein Wagner. We were looking for a traditional German restaurant and this did the trick with its typical interior and traditional apple wine. The waiter kindly provided us with an English menu and assisted us with any enquiries. We had sauerkraut stuffed schnitzel and meatloaf and both were very tasty. We were staying on the other side of the river and it was a pleasant and easy walk to get to this restaurant.

Great food, unfortunately extremely rude (multiple/different ones)waiters. You are asked weird questions when you just order dessert, you get warned “only cash accepted for strudel”. Coins are thrown to the table, waiters are too important to help first time customers about choosing. Coming here since two years, will continue to come but never with friends, that’s for sure. The only sweet thing you are getting here is strudel, rest is sour and bitter.

Adolf Wagner/ Apfelwein Wagner is a location specialising in what is best described as a dry apple cider. It is completely the cheapest thing on the menu and well.... it is best not to drink it on an empty stomach, it is so easy to get er rather merry on just a couple of glasses. I understand the custom is to mix it with sparkling water.... the prices are pretty expensive for food, feels like prices have been significantly hiked after the pandemic. Pity, but the bar is in a nice location, so if you are desperate for some strong dry cider then....

Großartiges, nostalgisches Ambiente. Bedienung sehr locker & freundlich. Das Essen kam recht zügig und war ziemlich lecker, wenn auch einfach. Aber genau so haben wir uns das vorgestellt und wurden nicht enttäuscht. Wir kommen jederzeit gerne wieder.

The service and people who attend this restaurant were very nice to us, giving tips and advice in what to get. One nice lady told us is better to mix the apple wine with water, specially if you are a foreigner like me. The plates were big for us, we ordered ribs and schnitzel for 2, and we could not eat everything, just one to share would be fine, so keep that in mind. Overall good experience to try traditional German food.

Looking for an authentic German place, look no further. The place has old rustic interiors as well as outdoor seating during summer. Amazing selection of schnitzels which are a must try. Overall a great place to dine and wine.

Good food, typical German, good-big portions. Not very cheap compared to german everyday restaurants, but I would say it's worth it. The restaurant is very spacious and when full could get quite loud (also very typical german). Staff talks English and it was easy to ask for recommendations.

We were not in Germany very long but this restaurant was the classic German fare we were seeking, and more! Although droves of people were walking inside when we arrived, they were able to seat us quickly. They have the classic long tables and beer garden. We wanted some authentic German food and our server Weis was the best! We started with classic Apfelwein to drink, lighter than American cider and more like wine, I preferred it and it was easy to drink. I wanted schnitzel and he insisted I try it with the green sauce that Frankfort is known for and I’m so happy that I did! Simply delicious! My boyfriend had the meatloaf with the egg which was also great! And to finish we were delighted to try mispelchin a delicious fruit brandy with a medlar (think tiny peach). Great experience and excellent service!

One of the best German food option in Frankfurt. Loved their schnitzel, and the fried onion was so well cooked. Potato was okay. I tried the apfelwein, but not sweet at all. I didn't like it much because I was expecting a desert type of wine.

Visited with our German friends who live in the city. The restaurant is mainly full of locals but is a great place to visit. Food is also very authentic and worth trying. Great atmosphere and staff were also really friendly

Famous and traditional for for Frankfurt: * Handkäse mit Musik (proteine cheese) * grüne Soße (cold yoghurt with much fresh herbs) * epplewoi/Apfelwein (apple wine) => don't drink it purely. Always put 1/6 sparkling water with I ❤️ Mispelchen

We were passing through Frankfurt and decided to stop in at Apfelwein Wagner. It’s a great find and somewhat different than the Brau Houses of Germany since it only serves Apple Wine (or what some call alcoholic apple cider). No beer is served here! Great atmosphere with family style seating. Wonderful food and English Menus if you need it. They still have the fermenting barrels in the basement. Food is very typical German style and very tasty. The sausages, port knuckle and schnitzels are wonderful.

Such a great experience. We were there on a weekday after folks were getting off work. The environment was so nice. The green sauce that came with the food was so good! Tasted like mint ✨ service was also great 🙌🏽

Dined here on a layover and had excellent service! We were seated immediately and they made us feel welcome. The staff was very nice and accommodating and we even shared a few laughs. I came to try the green sauce and it was PHENOMENAL 🤩! I also must say that I'm not a big sauerkraut fan, but their sauerkraut with the pork chops were delicious 😋. Please note, that if you're vegetarian/pescatarian the menu items are limited but well worth a try. I highly recommend Adolf Wagner and will be coming back again.

Simple and amazing German dishes. We walked 20 minutes from the city center to get there. We were kindly received, attended and served promptly. The green sauce was very good and the apple wine very peculiar and definitely worth to try. It is not particularly cheap but also not extremely expensive (~45 Eur for a two-course meal for two people including drinks). Happy to have had this traditional Frankfurter experience.

Enjoyed the apfelwein here, and the schnitzel & pork knuckle. It's through the corridor/alley and has ample indoor seating available (as well as outdoor patio seats).

Must go to place on Frankfurt! It’s obligatory, ofc it’s packed with tourists especially on weekends but it’s worth going there. You’ll get the real deal when it comes to Frankfurt/ Hessen specialties. Food is good and service is good too!

A woman server with long blond hair threw the receipt to us just because we did not include service tip in the bill. (Thanks god we didn't give tip to such a rude and racial discriminative person) We did not give tip simply because the only service we got is that she took our orders with few words. I don't know why she asked tip for granted. It is ridiculous. Food is good to try but not attractive enough for second visit.

My first meal in Frankfurt. Apple wine tastes slightly sweet and bitter - just the right flavor profile for me! I got the Frankfurter schitznel, which had tender and firm pork, and a well-fried skin. The staff were polite. Recommend to come here for a good German meal.

Apfelwein is a local drink of Frankfurt. They only serve Apfelwein at this place-no other alcohol. It tastes like a cider. Food was excellent. Atmosphere is low key and the tables are communal.

Very tasty food. Service can be slow tho. Seem to be short staffed. The two person meal is very big portion. I think it feeds 4.

First Time visiting. Great atmosphere and very friendly staff. Luckily my friends spoke German so everything arrived correctly. The apple cider was really and arrived in a nice ceramic jug. The food was good although a fatty piece of pork knuckle with crispy fat outside, the meat was dry with no additional sauce.

Historical place in the old city. Just read up about the history before visiting this place. Bathrooms are quite unique. Service is not that great and staff are kinda rude. Make sure you do a booking as this place is always full. No beer served at this restaurant. Food is surprisingly cheap compared to other places in town. If you chose the ribs just beware that it is one rib which is actually a pork chop...lol

It's been a few years since I have been here. Nothing has changed! Serious, unapologetic staff who serve you hearty German food. They have a special weekly menu which looked very good. But, it was my first time back in Germany since fully opening (COVID pandemic), so I ordered the classics. Apfelwein and Schweinshaxe. Standard house made apple wine. Pork knuckle with potatoes and gravy, crispy skin on the outside, moist on the inside. Glad to be back for a great meal!

Excellent Wurst to be had here! I went at the recommendation of my hotel's receptionist and I was not disappointed. The waiter spoke enough English to know I wanted an assortment of wurst, and that is what I received. I was very impressed, and I must admit the kidney wurst was my favorite.

Classic place. More on the touristy side and a tad more pricey but the food and Äpfelwein are still fantastic.

Wagner does not disappoint in its category of German food. We tried the ribs (Rippchen) which was delicious. Overall the service is what to expect from such a place: Overwhelmed and in a hurry.

Great atmosphere. Food and apple cider is good. Sure it attracts tourists, but for a reason. Best find a seat in the back garden area (roofed).

Pro: - Local cuisine, excellent in its category. - well known restaurant. - Service is fast and efficient. - Speciality of Frankfurt: the green sauce "grüne Sosse" (for my taste, yes, but not more) - lots of space, bright with some terraces = pleasant. contra: - we were disturbed during the meal by a beggar

The lady in charge was really helpful and got us a table while we did not reserve and the place was full due to a football match The ambiance was really cheerful specially that Frankfurt team was winning Now the food portion was really big the dishes were tasty and we really had a great experience tasting the german cuisine Finally the price was really raisonnable

Amazing food. The portion was hugeeeeee! And everything was delicious! I also had a taste of the Apfelwein. I didn't think it was strong, but I was soon hit with a case of Asian flush after a glass.

Dined here today with friends and we had an excellent service! That was really brilliant! The service stuff is attentive, nice and accommodating, we had a laugh together and we feel immediately welcome. We had Schnitzel and steaks in mushroom cream sauce. PHENOMENALI Highly recommend Adolf Wagner and will be coming back again soon. Must go to place on Frankfurt!

This is the most relaxing place to have an authentic German meal here and my best restaurant experience in Frankfurt. They are famous for their “Schoppen” cider or Applewine - slightly sour sweet that blends perfectly with their food. We had the grilled pork knuckle with home fried potatoes. It’s the best of the best pork knuckle we ever had. And the warm AppleStrudel is simply amazing. Don’t miss this place when you are in Frankfurt.

  • 4/5 Peter L. 1 year ago on Google
Homemade Bratwurst with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes, Applewine and clear apple Schnaps traditional recipe. German hearty food are served here but apple wine is a must have here. Applewine is actually cider but slightly more sourish. In the past, it was made by people who could not afford wine (made from grape) and traditionally served in a glass with a lozenge cut that refracts light and improves grip. Well this restaurant which is popular with locals and tourists serves it!

  • 3/5 James B. 1 year ago on Google
As typical food, it's great. But waiters are rude and impatient... they don't serve beer (weird for a German restaurant). Don't event think about asking for ice for your Pepsi... they don't have any. And be prepared to share your table with strangers.
