I'd suggest you to use this square as the starting point of your sightseeing tour if you are a tourist visiting Frankfurt for the first time. Many of Frankfurt's attractions like the Dom (Frankfurt Cathedral), new Old Town, the Zeil, Kleinmarkthalle, Iron Footbridge, churches, museums, etc. are very close. In the square, you have many Instagram worthy buildings and structures. You may enjoy a drink or meal at one of the many eateries here and see people walking by, shopping or taking pictures. Sometimes, there are performers and group activities around. If you come in December, it becomes a colorful and bustling Christmas market.

If you’re in Frankfurt, I recommend that you come here for a short visit. You can take the U Bahn to get there and get off at Dom/Römer. Usually the tower is open but they are currently renovating it. If you are actually able to go up to the tower do it! Unfortunately it’s closed until 2022. It costs a couple of euros but you simply go to the top and have the most breathtaking view of Frankfurt. You have to go up a ton of stairs and if you are uncomfortable with small spaces then I don’t recommend it. The inside of the cathedral is nice too but since the tower is closed I only give it 4 stars.

This new “old” district is very beautiful. Many tourists don't know that everything that looks so old here was rebuilt true to the original after the war. The DOM district only in the last few years. There are nice souvenir shops here but also small restaurants and cafés. The Römer subway has its exit in the middle of the district. A visit to the Schirn or the Struwwelpetermuseum is also recommended and the Main with the Iron Bridge is not far either.

The new old town is great and always worth a visit: tangible city and world history, Frankfurt's Catholic center, cuisine and Struwwelpeter close together!

Very nicely reconstructed old building district, looking more authentic after 6 years thanks to some patina. No comparison at all to the soulless concrete block that is the Technical Town Hall. My personal highlight is the Golden Libra House.

Went here in the morning and at night. Great square, great ambience. Would have been better if it has more lights at night.

Very interesting and historically important place. Has a very nice museum with some very valuable items. The inside of it is amazing too. Probably the best that I have been to in Germany.

I was expecting a bit more. Even the lighting in the night is a bit poor.

Beautiful place. Also recommend visiting the tower if you're not afraid of narrow stairways and height. Really rewarding view of the city! 😀

(Translated by Google) The square preserves the architecture of the city, with the history that it must tell. Behind are the great buildings but without a doubt this is the heart of the place. (Original) La plaza conserva la arquitectura de la ciudad, con la historia que debe contar. Detrás están los grandes edificios pero sin duda este es el corazón del lugar.

Dom Römer is in the heart of Frankfurt city. There is a very beautiful church here. It's an old city few mins away from Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof. It's usually very crowded as there are a lot of small big shops in here . It's at walking distance from S Bahn/Ubahn Station Hauptwache. In Hauptwache there is a beautiful shopping street where you can find shops of almost every brand. Main river front is just 2 mins walk from here. You can enjoy coffee , drinks , cakes and other indigenous delicacies in various shops.
