*The sad kitten illustrates how I felt after going to Maincafé today* Up until 2 hours ago, I liked the place (and especially its wine cake!), since it has a nice location and relaxed atmosphere. And then the mean blond lady who works there broke my heart. Here’s my sad story: Last time I went to Maincafé, I had wine cake which I really liked. I told my husband about it and we’ve been wanting to grab a piece together ever since. We live in a different city, so going to Frankfurt just for a cake seemed unreasonable; but after several months of continuous reminders from my side that “hey, this cake was delicious, we should go get some!”, we finally just decided to drive to Frankfurt and try our luck. After a long drive, nerve-wrecking search of a parking spot (downtown Frankfurt on a Saturday – need I say more?), a long walk and queuing, it’s finally our time to order! I ask the blond lady at the counter if they have wine cake. She tells me they do, but it’s in the kitchen and she’s alone at the counter and can’t go to bring it outside. I told her we came extra from a different city for this cake, that I was a fan and would really, really appreciate getting some, but she just repeated she had to stay at the front. All right, I think to myself, I’ll go inside and ask someone else from the staff if they could please bring it out for her. I do that and the girl working inside takes out the cake and is just about to cut 2 pieces for us, when the mean blond lady intervenes, telling me it was “audacious” of me to not accept her “NO” and that if she tells me I’m not getting any cake, then I’m not. I was speechless – this made absolutely no sense to me. If you don’t want to sell the cake, why do you tell me you have it? If you say you just need someone to bring it out, then why do you prevent them from doing so? Most importantly – how can you be so rude to a customer who just really nicely told you they loved your product and drove from a different city to buy it? Honestly, I have no idea what got to this woman and why on earth someone with such attitude and manners is allowed to work in service. So we left – hungry, sad and endlessly disappointed. The mean blond lady destroyed Maincafé and the cake for us forever. Not going back and not recommending it to anyone who likes to be treated with any degree of decency.

Nice bar with self-service. On hot summer days you can get drinks and snacks here and then sit down on one of the many benches or chairs and enjoy the day. There is always a good atmosphere here, so it doesn't get boring. The selection of drinks and snacks could be a little better, as could the prices. But you can still try it out.

This is an amazing place to relax and enjoy the view of the river. they serve here apple wine and beer. And if you don't know what to order, you can ask them to surprise you. This place is usually crowded, which means that you won't find a place to seat. But it's not a problem when there are some free seats on a table... People usually share a table with strangers. Be prepared with an umbrella in case the forecast is not optimistic about clear sky, because they just have a few tents. And if you like taking pictures, you should be here early because the sunlight comes direct to the lens of your camera. It also means that you have a great view of the sunset. Enjoy!

Intended to get something when my wife joined me... Unfortunately before she could join me from upstairs at the fleamarket... I was chased away by a blonde lady with medium length hair. Apparently sitting in the 30°C sunlight at an unoccupied table when only 9 out of 20 Tables were occupied was unacceptable. No one wanted to sit there in the direct noonday sun. I wasn't bothering anyone. No one needed the table. And you know... I don't argue when someone who commands you to leave. She could have asked if I intended to buy something... I walked over to my wife and we decided to get an applewine upstairs at the food cart instead. I understand that you don't want to just have people sitting there taking up space... But it costs 10-30s to ask if someone is going to buy something. We won't come back. We will not attempt to be customers a second time. Politeness is free... Rudeness costs customers.

Cash only, serve wine in something between Whiskey and water glass… Ordering draft drinks ends with having a sticky glass. Does not recommend

Agree with some of the comments below. I NEVER experienced so rude and unfriendly treat to customers by staff. The blonde woman left me speechless with her "are you not able to read" when I left the glasses in the bar counter, when I did not realized there was a specific area for this. How the management of this place allows this person with ZERO customer manners to be employee there? We are never coming back.

Quite decent cafe with a small choice of food/wine/beer. For some reason they are allowed to sell beer, but not allowed to open the toilet (probably because they would have to pay for cleaning!?), so people are peeing around. Card payment is not allowed as this prevents money laundering. I would recommend to bring your own food/drinks and occupy their place to break this monopoly

As mentioned earlier, the blonde lady with argumentative behavior towards customers, which makes this place not very attractive for those who want to be treated decently. Such people should not work in customer facing jobs. 2 stars for the decent Riesling.

The Maincafé represents some of what’s best about Frankfurt in the summer. Chilled, laidback, unpretentious and being by the river Main with cold drinks. Come if you’re thirsty, go elsewhere if you’re hungry as they only have pretzels and simple snacks.

Long lineups on nice days but a great local thing to do in Frankfurt. It's nice to sit along the river with a drink in the sun with everyone!

Guys, this is one of the best places you can visit in Frankfurt. They have great selection of drinks, some snacks and coffie is sooooo good, I have no words. I need to tell that service here is out of this world. They speak English, German, Chinese...they are so attentive and good in their job. Always smiling 😁 and giving you the best possible experience. Mariam, Elfe, Hamdi & all the others that I don't know the name, I just wanna say Thank You!! You guys are amazing and reason I always come back for the last 4 years. Absolutely AMAZING 😍🖤

A nice little cafe on the Main river. Mostly for drinks - beers, apple wine, bathroom; sliced banana bread, … no sandwiches, and a chipped wine glass. 10 euro min charge for using credit card.

The location is perfect by the Main river. I went there to buy a bottle of water to have with me while strolling the city. I bought also a beer to sit at the benches and relax. I got water in glass instead of bottle regardless the fact I paid 3 something, so I couldn't get it with me afterward. Once I asked the employees for the empty bottle, even if I pay the pfand, the one employee said they have to keep a list with the bottles. The message I receive as a customer is that one empty bottle less on the cafe's list is more important than the customer. To whoever is the manager and decided about the bottles' list: Some empathy, pragmatism and customer driven attitude while compromising the bottles' list will help you as a business owner, your employees and your customers to have a happier life and service quality with 0e cost.

This cafe is incredible with an amazing view of Frankfurt's skyscrapers. It has outdoor seating which makes the view enjoyable. I wish they have some more non-alcoholic beverages. The cafe has cash-only payment system.

Perfect spot on a summer afternoon. Lines can sometimes be long, but don't be afraid, they move quickly.
