I felt obligated to go as an avid electronic music enthusiast, but overall was left quite disappointed. 12€ is really overpriced for what you experience. It’s really just a collection of Sven VĂ€th’s old vinyl archives from the 80s onwards, which is fascinating if you’re a massive Sven VĂ€th fan, and of course huge respect to him for what he’s done for the techno community globally, but this exhibit was really more about Sven’s career than “modern electronic music”. I think the “Sven VĂ€th Electronic Music Exhibit” would have been a more appropriate title. Inside the exhibit, you have a room where panels take place on Thursdays, an area to view his vinyl collection, some digital screens showing photos of his life and gigs over time, and headphones dangling which play some of his selected tracks on repeat. There are also VR goggles showing some interview clips and music videos of his productions. You can really watch all of these interviews on YouTube and stream the music on Spotify. I could easily post up a photo of the list of songs that you’ll hear in these headphones, but out of respect for those who invested into making this exhibit possible, I don’t think it would be fair to do so. After reading the reviews, I came in with minimal expectations and I wanted the reviews to be wrong, but unfortunately, the sentiments of most of these reviews is correct. Some reviews complained about the equipment not working, but all of that has been fixed. I had no problems with the equipment. Still, I definitely do not think 12€ is worth it. A maximum of 5€ for entrance is what’s reasonable IMO. It took me about 30-45 minutes to go through the exhibition. Again, much love and respect to Sven VĂ€th and the legends of our scene, but I think some more thought and value offered will have to go into this to make it worth anywhere near 12€. Sadly, I would not recommend this until more improvements have been made or a price adjustment is done. That said, the place does have a cool vibe and the staff were friendly. There are also lockers to store your belongings, including larger backpacks. Hope the curators of this exhibit will benefit from this honest review, so that others can derive more value from it in the future. All my best!

Not a "museum", just a few headphones hanging from the ceiling here and there with no apparent logic whatsoever, throwing the same songs in loop. Some headphones don't even work properly. Oh and there also are two super-modern VR headsets, none of them works. And not "of modern electronic music" because it's only Sven VĂ€th's music. It's a huge advertisement actually. If you really want to get scammed and waste 12 euros for a ticket, remember that you MUST also waste your time buying it online even if you're there. I guess it's because it feels much more "modern". Or maybe it's because otherwise victims would ask back their cash.

Absolutely terrible and a waste of 12€. Headphones that don't even really work hanging from the ceiling and a couple of pictures. Subscribe to Spotify instead. Not even drugs could've made this experience fun.

For now more like a music gallery than a museum, but I found it refreshing :) Nice place if you are into electronic music; and yes you can find some stuff on Spotify but you can find most paintings on Google too, lol, it's not about that! It would be great to see more interactive stuff and a broader/historical perspective one day though.

Bring disinfectant. The museum consists of headphones and VR goggles with no ways to clean them.

As the entrance was free, so I rated it 2 instead of 1 star. However, it's still a disappointment for me, the whole museum is mainly about the founder Sven VÀth, his videos, photos, musics, LP collections... I almost didn't see any concrete content indicating what is modern electronic music or how it was developed. I love electric music, I love Frankfurt - the capital of electronic music in Europe before Berlin, and in this process Sven VÀth was also actively involved: he had residency in Dorian Grey and contributed a lot to the raving scenarios in Frankfurt. But unfortunately even this kind of linkage is ignored in this museum. I would feel happy for the exhibition if it is not under such a big name as "modern electronic music".

Disappointed probably mislead by the somewhat grand name. If it was called the Sven Vath story, and some of his records... I'd have got what I expected. The similar titled exhibition a couple of years ago at the Design Museum in London wiped the floor with this.

Disappointed. To start with, entry required me to purchase a ticket with a credit card on my phone while standing at the front door. The person at the door initially told me there was no facility to accept cash payment for a ticket, but when pressed they took my cash and sold me a ticket. Telling lies to customers is not a great first impression. I had high expectations of a museum featuring a range of electronic music instruments, artists and history. But instead it featured a single artist who may be famous in Germany, but to this foreign tourist was meaningless. A waste of money and my precious time in Frankfurt. If I had an interest in the featured artist, then it would have been interesting and well presented.

From the MOMEM website: "MOMEM focus on modern electronic music that has shaped our cultural history and still keeps on doing so." After visiting the museum yesterday I have to say that this statement is misleading. The MOMEM focuses on the life and works of the DJ Sven VĂ€th. You can have a look at Sven VĂ€ths record collection, listen to the tracks Sven VĂ€th played during the HR3 clubnight, have a look at photographs from Sven VĂ€ths life, see flyers from Sven VĂ€ths partys and have a look at interviews with Sven VĂ€th via VR goggles - which was kinda cool. You can also have a try at the turntables yourself. But that's it. There is no information on the history of electronic music, about its roots and evolution. No information regarding the different styles and forms of modern electronic music. No information regarding other artists (Jean-Michel Jarre? Kraftwerk?) or music labels. No information on the equipment that is used to create electronic music. This museum is just about Sven VĂ€th. If you are a fan of Sven VĂ€th, go there. If not, I suggest you spend your time and €12 for the ticket on something else, for you will be disappointed.

First surprise: the smallness of the place, then the Sven Vath exhibition... a series of headphones with interesting music but uninteresting images. 12 euros is really expensive compared to the last exhibition seen in Paris on this theme at the Philharmonic. It is said that Frankfurt is the temple of Techno?!

A lackluster exhibition curated from old white men who may have peaked over a decade ago. The play list sadly reflects this. If you are seeking a place where you feel welcome, go somewhere else. Frankfurt has better to offer than this sad location. Oh, and if you plan to hear good music loudly, save yourself the frustration and use your EarPods and streaming provider instead.

Even though MOMEM is not a museum in a traditional sense, the venue is a step forward in acknowledging Frankfurt's under rated techno heritage. The place has a nice vibe. It was also a pleasure to chat with a member of staff about Frankfurt's past and present techno scene. I hope MOMEM grows to become a more established institution.

It’s like a trial version. Very hard to call it an exhibition or a museum.

It's kinda fun, but sadly it's more about Sven VĂ€th and less about techno/music a bit disappointed, not what i expected

I think people didn’t do their research and don’t come here with open minds. On the website you can find their current exhibits, and the person in charge of tickets asked us if we knew what the museum was featuring right now. So you know off the bat what you’re getting in terms of transparency. It’s a small space, so of course they can’t house everything and have to choose rotating exhibits. The one on Sven VĂ€th was interesting, and I enjoyed listening to his different tracks through the headphones. I do wish there was a bit more information about him and the types of tracks he prefers to mix. I also wish tickets did not have to be purchased on our phones because it did take a long time and it would be simpler to accept cash too.

Electronic music is a very special and unique topic to a museum. I do admire this innovative and strong techno feel venue in the city centre. You can listen to different strong dance music and the introduction of musicians in the world. Besides, there are also exhibits of keyboards and synthesizers. Nevertheless, the owner can enrich the content and exhibits of this museum to increase the attractiveness and education value

Pleasant experience, very friendly staff. It's a museum born for electronic music lovers. Quite complex as information, with a lot of details displayed. You can listen to different tracks on headphones and even vote for the one you liked best.

A hidden gem in the middle of town. I visited last night and attended a curated walk through the museum with Alex Azary & Talla2XLC. Both gave a very personal and interesting insight into the story of electronic music. We finished with a walk to some of the lost places in the vicinity of the museum, Omen, U60311 and no name. Highly recommended and a great job by Alex & Talla.

The Museum of Modern Electronic Music. How they can not mention Kling Klang Studio or Brain Records is beyond me, still worth a visit though.

Very nice concept. Hall of milestones is amazing, heard some tracks there that i hadn't heard in ages. Only downside is that it is a small exibition!

It's easy to get there with public transportation and staff was friendly. However, the museum is very small, with almost no information and therefore it is certainly overpriced (12 euros in June 2023).

Insanely cool concept, listening to music as part of the exhibit, however I found it quite lacking in images, data of the artists, and techniques they revolutionised or invented through their music

The staff were friendly and informative. The place itself is ok, nothing too special. I do think though that the place this museum is at would be a great place for a club đŸŽ¶ đŸȘ©
