Amazing food, service and view. It is clearly more expensive than the average, but you get what pay for. Everything was great and I would certainly go back.

Honestly, you’ll be paying for the view here. I went there twice after seeing some reviews and recommendations from a friend. First time was good. I wanted to go back to try the famous trout. I took a boat trip a few days before and a friend had the trout at one of the restaurants which I loved! It was amazingly fresh and something I’ve never tasted before. I had same expectations for Kaneo. I was wrong- I was disappointed. I could have gotten this dish anywhere to be honest. And even at a cheaper price being in Macedonia. The staff are friendly though and the ambiance is great. If you need a mellow place with great scenery, check this one out.

Best restaurant in Ohrid by all measurements! High quality food— menu varies each season, but they retain some of the top dishes. This is NOT a traditional restaurant, but a more high end place with fusion cuisines. They have home made fish soup, pasta and bread. They Tout in Prison is a pasta classic that you will love. The latest triumph is the starter how we, the Cod Croquette. They are sublime. Service— is traditionally excellent and charming. A very pleasant experience. Wine— huge wine list. They have most of the Macedonian wines you must try, and some international wines if you really must have it. Let them advise you… they know their stuff. The setting— is unique and unbeatable. On the lake, just beneath the most famous church/ image of ohrid. You can have a long walk to the location from the town square or you can hire a boat, about 10 euro. Prices— are the highest in town. Worth every penny.

Located just bellow the Kaneo church, I can say this is one of the best restaurants in Ohrid. The view is magnificent and the terrace is just on lakeshore. The menu is refined and modern, while the food quality and taste is superb. Prices are as expected for these types of restaurants in Ohrid. You can get there only by foot or by boat.

We came here multiple times with my friend and there were a lot of positive sides to the restaurant. Its location is great, especially if you manage to get a table right next to the lake. The waiters are super friendly and we always felt welcomed each time we came. The coffees and the desserts were great and the food at dinner was quite tasty too. There were a couple of down sides: the breakfast was disappointing and expensive, the bagel we got was hard and not really filling. The cocktails tasted watered down and the prices were veeeery high in comparison to the other places in the area. Nevertheless, worth stopping by for dinner or an afternoon snack.

Location, views and food is exquisite, dining on the crystal clear waters on the lakeside in Ohrid old town, Macedonia. Kaneo restaurant was a hidden gem, with magical views of St. John the Theologian church and overlooking the lake. We started out with a glass of bubbly, followed by one of our favourite local wines, Bela Voda. The food, service and wine was exceptional, it was nice to find a fine dining restaurant with clean food, it was delicious. The steaks were cooked to perfection and high-quality grade, the desserts were also a treat. Cosy indoor and outdoor dining, the choice is yours, it's a short walk from the centre of the old town, strolling through the beautiful cobble-stone streets. Perfect restaurant to spend a lazy lunch and soak up the views, you won't be disappointed.

Great location, BUT do not think it means good food! I had a cucumber salad that had no taste at all and the trout was a disisater. Full of spines and NO taste at all. How dissapointing that they think people will only be happy due to the location and put no effort into the cooking anymore. The waiter was very friendly and I was only charged the water, anyhow I was still hungry and dissapointed. Note - You will not get fish from the lake. Fishing is not allowed at Lake Ohrid, so the trouts come from the farm and the rest of the seafood comes frozen to Ohrid.

Always an amazing dining experience! Varied and innovative menu choices, vast cellar of Macedonian wines and friendly, efficient service. Beautifully situated on the lake , just slightly removed from the bustle of Ohrid center to afford a stunning view of the city. Hands down the best food in Ohrid!

Food is AMAZING! Please try the cod in tomato sauce. You will not regret it. View can not be beaten. The Kaneo salad, just as impressive.

Amazing place. A bit expensive for Ohrid but totally worth it!!!!! I would definitely recommend it. The food was delicious and the staff so friendly and polite! Definitely order the bread, it was amazing and super tasty. Also the Kaneo salad was super fresh.

The best restaurant for a romantic diner with quality food! You can make a reservation online so it’s easy to plan ahead. We arrived and the staff surprised us with a romantic table on the dock! The food was amazing and the waiters were very considerate, unlike other places.

here are the tastiest ravioli I've ever eaten. Grilled shrimps was also good. And if you like cats, you will enjoy this amazing thing living there)

Attentive staff. Great ambiance and decor. You're sitting right by the water with beautiful views during the day. Winter menu is cute and well thought out. Prices are fair and to be expected of what you're ordering at a nice establishment. Worth the price considering the unique items on the menu that I've not seen anywhere else. No pizza, thank goodness, it gets tiring in the generic underwhelming pizza restaurants. My waiter was welcoming and delightful. Worth a stop especially if you're tired of the lackluster pizzerias found at every corner. This is the place to spend an evening for a great meal and beautiful view

First of all, amazing scenery to eat you dinner -possibly one of most fantastic in Ohrid. Pastrmka, local fish from lake was very tasteful - tender delicate meat. But mostly I was amazed by ljutanica, red peppers paste. Unfortunately fries were from freezer.

All appetizers and salads we had for lunch were amazing. They have limited menu, serving mostly sea food and pasta. Non-traditional Macedonian dishes are noy served, except for one appetizer. The outdoor seating is really nice but it is not wheelchair accessible.

I had really high expectations when I checked google reviews but but for me it wasn’t such a nice experience. Firstly cats are freely walking inside the restaurant and jumping around customer’s feet, on chairs, touching cutlery (!). Compositions of ingredients in dishes is nice, but lack of proper seasoning ruins whole experience. Maybe it was just a bad day of cook? I don’t know.

Wonderful atmosphere, excellent service, had a parmigiana and was one of the best I have eaten outside Italy. Great selection of wines! The only thing that could be improved are the cocktails, ordered a whisky sour in the beginning of the dinner and it was just average, not the way a whisky sour should be, so dont recommend that, but overall highly recommend to experience this restaurant once in Ohrid.

The typical trout pasta was good. The girls who served us were very nice, however the male waiter was a bit unfriendly to us. The food in general was good and the place was nice.

My favorite spot in the city. Great location, always friendly staff and the food never disappointed. Their menu is changing (curated by a well known chef), but some classics are constant as the “trout in prison”. They have vegetarian and vegan options

The lunch view is one of the best in Ohrid. I was a little disappointed with the trout in prison as it was under seasoned and the only real flavour came from the strong cheese on top which didn't come in abundance... however, the rest of the meal was 10/10, the fish stew was one of the best I've ever had and my partners ricotta balls were to die for, the desserts were heavenly and the wine was an excellent accompaniment (even though our waiter told us, as he was opening it, that he didn't really like our choice 😂). Lovely atmosphere for a bougie lunch, very memorable.

Great place to have a lunch or dinner, especially if you get a table next to the lake. Service was at high level, food was great, just like wine. Price, for whole meal starting with appetiser, main course and a dessert, was around 45 EUR per person.

The only reason why I am giving this restaurant 2 stars is because of the lake and St.John at Kaneo view, otherwise the service and the hygene at the restaurant are very dissapointing. The food is okay, but overpriced. We had reservation and we arrived on time. The table was not ready, so we needed to wait for one of the waiters to clean the table from the quests that were sitting at our table before we arrived (only 50% of the capacity was full at that time). There were three waiters and none of them wanted to do that, just "passing the ball" to each other in front of us as guests. We decided to sit despite the fact that the table was not clean. After loud talking between them, one of them came in and nervously cleaned the table with a brush (if this can be called cleaning) and did not change the table sheets. The weather is still very hot and they put us at a table to a direct sun exposure, no shadows at all during lunch time. All tables were reserved for couple hours later, but they didn't offer us to switch tables as it was very difficult to have proper lunch when the sun was coming directly to our eyes. During our lunch most of the tables that had shadow were not occupied! Covid protocols are not followed and they didn't ask us for vacinnation certificate even though it is required in this period. There are cats everywhere in the restaurant and they are even jumping on the tables and eating the leftovers from the plates. As the waiters didn't seem to care about empty plates, to come and pick them up, I needed to leave my lunch and return the plates to the waiters. The toilet was dirty as well. Very dissapointing experience.

Super nice restaurant next to the lake. Great wine selection , nice service & great food. I had a trout in prison pasta (you can see bellow) and was the great dish! In the night can be tricky now to go there since not much of lights, but don’t worry it’s safe and you use your phone lamp.

I had diner here with my family and it tasted very good. After eating a lot of meat the past few days in different restaurants, it was a nice change to eat some fish. We ate the sea bream and lobster spaghetti with the mussels spaghetti. The sea bream with gnochi tasted very nice with the herbs with curry. The lobster spaghetti also tasted quite good, although some more lobster would have been nice. All in all, a great place to eat with a great view
