Awesome food! Had the nachos with chicken and a mix of tacos (2 beef and 2 pork). They do have a taco flavor that is off the menu that they use for their burritos that you can ask for that was pretty good! Happily planning to go back; especially for the nachos!

Oh my! I loved my first experience here! I am not a Mexican food fan, but El Taquero was a game-changer! Beautiful place, both inside and the colourful patio! Kind and smiling staff, awesome food and incredible side dishes 🤤 It was great how the pickled veg side dish tasted like one of my hometown’s side dishes! I had the Costras (cheesy tacos) with fish filling, which was super fresh and tasty. Def gonna come back here more often 🌮

The best mexican restaurant in town. Taste was on point, order was on time. Eventhough it got busy but the waitress didnt forget about us and didnt make us feel like we have to leave. Churros were freshly made... loved the environment 👌 👏 We will definitely be back to try other things on the menu.

We had a good time there. Good vegetarian options. However they charged us 2 beers when we only had one. When i told management they responded quickly I’m not sure if it was an honest mistake or they were being too clever to charge me for 2 beers. Anyways they refunded my money in the end. Overall 4 stars with the experience.

This is what an authentic mexican restaurant tastes like. Kudos to the owner of this place because he nailed it. The food and drinks were simply amazing but what it really blew my mind was the “esquite”, a very traditional snack in Mexico but hard to find in Canada. Make sure you try it, you will not regret :) The staff was super friendly and were constantly checking on us. To top it off, the prices were very decent when comparing with other restaurants in the area. Will definitely come back next time I’m in town. Gracias!

Weekend away in Kelowna and dropped in for weekend brunch at El Taquero. We were pleased with our tasty meal, with good service, and the Owner popped by to thank us for visiting! It was a nice touch and made our meal even more memorable. We started with drinks - it’s always nice to have a drink special and day-drinking is always fun. The highlight of the meals were the birria burrito/taco, and the pasilla salsa and pasilla chili salsa were a-mazing. We shared the flan and churros for dessert. Everything recommended! We’ll definitely be back.

I tried their burritos and tacos, food is 10/10. Burrito was very filling, yummy and worth the money. Tacos were extremely tasty but a little expensive as they don't fill you up. You pay just for the taste, but still do try. They serve 4 sauces which are delectable. I went in for a repeat, they are so good and the service is good too. And how can I forget the vegetable pickles served along, they are amazing too. Highly recommend this place for food, ambience and service however I have one feedback to share, your menu is very confusing and not at all friendly. You should explain the food with the names. I have been to your place but I guess on my second visit, I will still not be able to order food just based on your menu. I hope you get what I mean. For you, it's common to know the terms, for others it isn't. The options are also not clearly mentioned in the menu. So deducting 1* just for the menu. *Pics and the bill attached for your reference. Update: Visited again Ordered tacos, kids burrito, corn chowder soup, beer and enchiladas. Didn't like the food this visit especially tacos and enchiladas hence deducting the stars. Enchiladas were disappointing. They weren't good at all. Too sour to begin with, less chicken etc etc. They were $23 and let me tell you they are just not worth your money in my opinion, so avoid it. Attaching the bill and the pics.

Starting with an amazing margarita and Pina colada that I shared with my girlfriend. Continued by sharing four differents tacos, all great, expecially the fish tavos. Then shared a burritos. The burritos size was really big, we didn't finished it. It was tasty and had a lot of meat. A little more spicy than I expected. Great service and atmosphere.

We got the verde enchilada (barely any taste except for the beans which were too salty), some tacos (the carnitas one was really good), and a tortilla soup (it was okay). The food was overall not the greatest; and I honestly disagree with some of the preexisting reviews that state this is "authentically Mexican" or "the best Mexican place" because from what I've tasted, it's not. Constructive feedback: Use authentic Mexican spices to flavour the food better, please. The service was okay, though! The server was nice.

Wow!!!!! I was absolutely taken for an adventure with my tastebuds. I’ve never tasted anything like it. Small portions, so expect to get a second “meal” however there was absolutely no problem in trying something new:) the pineapple habanero salsa is so amazing, addicting if you will. The drinks were also amazing. Will be returning asap. Thank you to our server❤️

Great Mexican food. Lots of menu choices. Had the Taco's for one Build your own. Very cool. Very authentic food. You can order for take out or just dine in. You can also find this restaurant on DoorDash and Skip the Dishes for food delivery to your home or work. Staff are friendly. Located downtown Kelowna on Ellis. Most parking downtown is metered parking during the day. Menu is also online.

Marnie and Izzy have a great place. This is a great spot. Great atmosphere. Food is spectacular. Brought my boys who tend to picky and they had a great time. Staff is super friendly and easy going. Had nacho pandemia to share with the boys. We smashed it. Not your sport bar nachos. Chips are insanely good. Street corn vibe is awesome. Got it with guacamole and chorizo. Hurt myself a bit because it was too good. The pickled veggies on the top are fantastic. Boys crushed the kids the quesadillas with carne asada. Churros were a massive hit. This is a family owned and run shop. Get out there for something different and awesome. Support the locals who are making it happen. Recommended

They have a breakfast menu. The atmosphere is very happy and inviting. The service was great. We ordered coffee, and we were surprised by the way the server their coffee. They bring you French press coffee, which tastes great. The quality of food was perfect. The price is reasonable. Overall, it was a great experience 🥰 It was a little smoke in the store when we walked in, which it didn't bother us at all 😶‍🌫️ However, the owner came to our table to check on us and explained the reason for the smoke. Which it was a very nice gesture. It made us feel valued as customers. We will definitely go back to this place. 😍🥰😍

Friendly atmosphere. Food tasted good but we felt like some flavour was lacking in the street tacos. Some of the taco fillings were too spicy for us. The burrito was very filling which was nice.

I’ve been wanting to try this place for so long and finally stopped by to get dinner last night! The tacos were awesome and I loved the corn chowder so much! it’s also my first time trying cactus, I’m surprised that they taste like potatoes! Will definitely come back with more friends and have more tacos! Didn’t take a pic of the cocktails we got but they were very refreshing for a hot summer day

Tasty tacos, if a bit small. Chips, pico, and guac were good. Good spice in most of the dishes. I really liked the chicken tinga flavours. Don Julio marg was good

Second visit, just as good as the first! My photos are bad justice to the size of the burritos but trust that they are a brick that will fill most people up! Great options and decent portion sizes on the tacos. My mum isn’t big on tacos and burritos and really liked the chowder. If its a nice day, order pickup and find a spot to sit by the lake. There isn’t a ton of sitdown seating but the vibe is nice still.

Been here a couple times with friends the atmosphere is really great for that. The food is one of those you have to know what you’re getting into. My first time there I didn’t really enjoy it but every time I go back I find something I enjoy more and more. Their burritos and quesadillas are really good. The prices rage but are fairly good.

Headed to El Taquero for brunch and was really impressed with the friendly service and great flavours! I had the tacos and liked the optional sauces so you can choose the heat in each mouthful. The ice coffee was sweet and comforting, and the esquites (corn chowder) was next level! Good amount of gluten free options too.

Visited here for a birthday dinner of eight people. Most of the table’s food took a long time to come and when it arrived, it was lukewarm/cold. One person received a completely wrong order - an enchilada instead of a salad. Lovely churros for dessert but the waitress kept blah-blahing about how good they were and how she wished she could have one, so my husband finally gave her one, which I thought was weird 🫤

Ordered horchata and 3 street style tacos, which came with 4 different types of hot sauce. Service was efficient and the tacos had great flavour, with a handful of gluten free and vegan/vegetarian options.

Amazing Mexican food, I have enchiladas and my friends ordered a Chicken bowl, while the enchiladas were really good (me and other friend really enjoyed it) but the other friends who ordered the chicken bowl said it was okay and chipotle bowl is much tastier and cheaper than what we got here. Overall the staff were really friendly and helped me a make small customization to the enchiladas I ordered.
