I really liked it. It's huge. We walked around and looked at the exhibits and the pictures on the wall. There are several displays. They are very well done. I highly recommend going. We stayed several hours in the museum.

We stopped here because I remember seeing "End of the Trail" about 48 years ago as a kid. This powerful statue left me in awe & I wanted my wife & grandchild to see it as well. We went in at opening time of 10am. I was struck by the size & scope of the museum's displays. WOW!! There is truly something for everyone on display. The staff was out of this world. Full of knowledge & happy to be of help. If you tour with one of their guides you will not be disappointed. I plan on visiting again the next time we get to Oklahoma City.

Absolutely amazing. There is such an astounding collection of art and historical artifacts, it will take the better part of a day to work your way through everything. I like how the exhibits are broken down into sections which make easier to take it all in. I especially enjoyed "the town". An entire indoor town is genius. I also enjoyed the movie memorabilia section. Very well done! This is probably one of the best museums I have ever been too. If you love cowboy culture and the old west, this place is a must!

Wow! The outdoor reenactment is very well done. The cowboy gallery and rodeo exhibit were so fascinating. Love the different multimedia making learning and browsing so entertaining. Lots of interesting American Indian history that occupied all over US, not just local tribes. We rushed through in 2 hours but could easily spend another 2.

Enjoyed our family visit to the National Cowboy & Western Heritage museum. There is something for everyone here. I was impressed with the Art and sculpture. Others in my party enjoyed the movie and rodeo memorabilia. We spent 4 entertaining hours. I was impressed by helpful volunteer docents who gave us an excellent overview at the start and helped us learn more in the exhibits.

What a great place to experience cowboy and western heritage. The completeness and thoroughness of this museum is astounding. I only spend a couple of hours and rushed through the various areas of the museum. Everything I saw was done exceptionally well. If you are in the area, this is a must see place. Don’t expect to see the whole place in one visit, there are just too many areas with so many details that it would too ambitious to see it all. I have a much better understanding and respect for cowboy life after my visit.

We had such a fun time at this museum!! Free parking, no wait time, and only $15 admission; I definitely recommend setting aside an entire morning or afternoon if you want to get the whole experience. I think we spend about 3 hours walking around the art galleries. So much beautiful artwork and history to see and learn about- I loved how there were also exhibits outside (see pictures of the waterfall below.) The gift shop has a huge variety of souvenirs to choose from too!

It was an absolutely fantastic experience! We had "an hour to kill," ended up spending 2.5 hours at the museum, and needed at least another few hours to see everything. The displays and exhibitions are well thought out, descriptive, and looked after! We loved the museum and would definitely recommend a visit.

Had a fun family day here. It was a 2 hour drive for us but it was worth it. I was really impressed with everything and was surprised at just how large this museum is. It wasn't crowded at all which is nice. I highly recommend checking this museum out.

I always have a great time here. I specifically go here to sit and admire the Remington and Charles Russell and other Western art. I can't get enough of it. There is a lot to see and do. Thus museum give a great overview of western United States history and culture. I would also recommend visiting the First Americans Museum either before or after this museum to give a good balance in history and human experience.

Absolutely love this museum! If you are on I40 or I35 near Oklahoma City it is very much worth your while to stop and visit. Parking is easy (and free!). You could easily spend several hours or just stop in to view the art in the main area. Highly recommend!

Highlight of our weekend in Oklahoma city. Very well worth a visit especially if you come from abroad and want to learn the real history of tye area.. Has traditional museum sections with art, many small video areas, old carriage, old town, rodeo / cowboy history section and western film area. Quite memorable for us was the special route 66 section at the right side of the entrance. Friendly staff and locals.

So worth the 3 hr drive! There were kids stations to do things. So much beautiful artwork and the history. The outside education area where you see different types of housing for Native American tribes back in the day. If you can go and see this please go. $12.50 for adults I can't think of anything that only costs 12.50 that offers so much. Your time will not be wasted nor your money.

Sooooo many amazing displays and rooms and info and knowledgeable docents! This museum is one of the best I’ve been too. It’s not just “dry” info. They have found a way to display and tell and show that brings this place to life. Spent 2 1/2 hours here and barely scratched the surface and only left because of another appointment! Loved this museum and will be back!!

Excellent! So much to see here so plan to be here for a few hours. The right side has a bit more things to see and read than the left I think personally. Don't forget to go outside! I will be back because I know I missed some things and what an awesome National Cowboy Museum. The bathrooms were clean. The staff was friendly and ready to give important facts about wherever you were in the museum. Plenty of parking. They have a small cafe. Didn't eat food so cannot give an opinion. Ticket prices were good, they did offer us a disabled vet discount so that was nice. Go check this museum out!

I highly recommend this. Great for the family. Kids loved it. If you’ve ever traveled abroad to learn culture and see ancient ruins, you’ll love learning about the culture right here. We were impressed with the Prix de West art collection. And we’re not art connoisseurs. The kids loved Prosperity Junction which immersed us in another era. Definitely try the sarsaparilla at the saloon and learn about the cowboy job. Outside, tour the different types of indigenous Indian homes. You’ll spend about 2-3 hrs here and take about 20 pictures.

Fantastic museum and art exhibits! Was able to walk right in, pay admission, and begin exploring. Spent the afternoon here, up until closing, and will be back. They have authentic artifacts and reproductions, with everything easily identified as such. If appears they also have massive gathering spaces for corporate events etc.

This was my first time visiting this museum. I was VERY impressed. There was a myriad of paintings, artifacts, displays of western gear, weapons, ropes, barbed wire and MANY bronze statues, including Remington's. I took over 400 photographs that I plan to make a slideshow with for my YouTube page. At 1:00 P.M. I went on a guided tour with a very knowledgeable docent that was very enjoyable. I highly recommend this museum.

We went to the Chuck Wagon Festival and we had a great time here, outside we enjoyed beef stew and cobbler, delicious traditional food. The museum is amazing and too big to see in just one day. A lot to learn about the Western culture. We will come back.

Wow! I hadn’t been here since I was a kid and it has changed so much! It was definitely a great experience seeing it all as an adult. The grounds around the museum are immaculate and their are all these cool different types of Native American structures built with information on each one and which tribe built the particular kind. Multiple beautiful waterfalls and even a geyser! Inside is full of different rooms and areas to explore. Old boots, guns, gear and all kinds of things. Lots of art of course, and a cool gift shop. Definitely worth a visit!

Very nice exhibits and interesting artifacts. I enjoyed the outside exhibits as well. We spent about 2 hours here and it kept my 14 year old’s attention. The staff were helpful and knowledgeable as well. They also have scavenger hunts and other activities for smaller children. Lots of good photo opportunities and appreciated the air conditioning inside since it was very hot outside. Nice gift shop on the way out too. Parking was simple and free.

We've been to many Historical & Contemporary SW Art Museums, & The Cowboy has the greatest collection we've seen! Especially loved Remington & Russell galleries. Also the historical clothing, boots, tack & native artifacts. Delightful hosts. Breathtaking entry & promenades. Fabulous sculpture. Plan on spending at least 3-4 hours here. Thank you to The Cowboy!

A great museum for both adults and children. I attended on 12/9/22 but it was in the evening for an event. However, I got to see the exhibits without the normal crowd. The displays are in good shape and have great descriptions. They have a saloon photo area and a wide floor plan for walking and space. I would recommend the child be in elementary school at least for them to be able to grasp some history on the text of the exhibits. Had a great time! I’ve been living in oklahoma for over 7 years and never visited here. I recommend it for sure! Adults are $15 Students with ID are $10 Kids 6-22 years old are $5 Kids aged 5 and under are free!

I was pleasantly surprised how diverse this place is. I loved the 2023 Prix the West exhibit - so many folk artists had a chance to show their beautiful art. The building is beautiful, too, very spacious and interesting. Remember to see all the outside spaces, too. The gift store had a great choice of handmade items available. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

This site is great for family fun, a date night, school trip, or just a leisurely stroll. The Cowboy is easily our family's favorite outing this year. We've made a goal to go monthly. We see a new room we didn't know was there every time we go!

In my top 5 favorite museums of the USA. Spacious, beautiful, children's stations are thoughtfully crafted. My kids were thrilled {11 and 12yo}, and I have dragged them to more museums than they can remember. A real cowboy happened to be visiting and stepped up to give the kids a private lesson at the outdoor roping station.

I was absolutely blown away by this museum. The concepts, execution and quality are world class. Everything is well described (exhibits, artifacts, art) and great flow from room to room. I was shocked by the sheer volume of works they had and the size of the museum. Nothing in the space was “filler”, everything was high quality and well thought out. In all of the museums I’ve been to in the US and EU… this is the best one, seriously. Employees are very knowledgeable and genuinely excited to share about the pieces. I like Western subject matter but this would appeal to folks who don’t know much about it too. I’ll probably be talking about it for weeks. I would go back several times. 10/10. Kid friendly too.

The museum was much bigger than we anticipated and took a long time to move through, but it was fascinating. There were so many different cultures represented. The exhibit guides we met were very knowledgeable and helpful and gave great insights into the exhibits. Well worth the cost of entry.

I was not prepared for the scale of this Museum when I arrived. The art collection alone is massive, not to mention the many other finely detailed exhibits and displays. Arrive when they open, and expect to be there for nearly a fully day. Rest assured it will have been a day well spent.

Great museum to visit if you are in the OKC metro. The exhibits are interesting and offer a lot of education about the old western days, especially Native Americans. The artifacts on display are very cool, so many things that have been preserved from another time in history it's very easy to get lost. The art is beautiful and we particularly enjoyed the Frederic Robinson collection. Two of the most special treats in my opinion are the grounds, where they have several Native American housing examples on display. And then just inside is Prosperity Junction, which is a replica of an old time town (it's by far my most favorite part). Definitely recommend it to locals and visitors. As a local I hadn't been in about 10 years and was surprised at how well thought out it was and all the new things to see. And extra special treat is the grill. We had a Southwest chicken salad and turkey sub. Both were excellent! It's ran by a local favorite of mine, Petro Deli. So I squealed like a little kid to get a salad because they are incredible.

Wow! What a place. In fact more than one can take in one visit. So allow plenty of time to see what interests you the most. From paintings, tepees, western towns, to tributes on pretend TV cowboys, it is an excellent place to spend an afternoon, day, or two! They have some nice outside exhibits especially for children and great walking paths through statues and water features. A wonderful museum. Very comprehensive but never boring! I can start by saying that this is one of the best museum/attractions that I have ever been to in the US. Their docents are great as soon as you walk in and are very helpful. The amount of memorabilia they have is amazing and the exhibits are so well done it is awesome. They have tons a personal items from western heroes and film stars as well as a great collection of old guns, saddles, etc from the past. If you are in OKC, you must visit this place. You should also plan at least 3-4 hours minimum when you and to really see everything, make it 5-6 hours. You will not be disappointed. It is worth a 90 minute stop. Some of the paintings were beautiful and many were for sale. The highest price tag I noticed was $60,000.00 There were some roaming employees who were very knowledgeable and helpful. An amazing museum, you need at least three hours to appreciate this place. It's filled with cowboy/cowgirl history. Native American communal information abounds. Hollywood cowboy heroes are specially remembered and there is an entire display devoted to barbed wire! There's something for everyone interested in American heritage.

My visit to the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum was a truly memorable experience. One of the highlights for me was exploring the outdoor Native American living quarters. It was fascinating to see how Native Americans lived and worked, and the attention to detail in the recreation of the living quarters was impressive. In addition to the outdoor exhibits, the museum itself is full of fascinating artifacts and exhibits that showcase the history and culture of the American West. From cowboy gear to Native American art, there's something for everyone to enjoy. The museum also offers a range of educational programs and events, making it a great destination for families and anyone interested in learning more about the history of the American West. Overall, I highly recommend a visit to the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum. It's a great way to experience the rich history and culture of the American West in a fun and engaging way.

This was a great museum! It covered a lot of history. There were multiple videos to watch. It has a lot of artwork and sculptures to look at. It's bigger than it looks. It took us a couple hours but could have taken longer if we would have stopped to read everything.

What a beautiful museum. It has been on my bucket list to visit. The museum was so large that I was not able to complete the visit and tour in the amount of time originally allotted. It is definitely one that should be given plenty of time to view and enjoy every section of this property. The staff were above par, inviting and respectful. We will definitely be coming back should we find ourselves back in Oklahoma City. Place a visit to the National Cowboy museum on your list. It will not disappoint.

July 27th, celebrated our 27th wedding anniversary with my visiting sister and brother-in-law, by going to the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum. So much to see and so little time. Some newer exhibits and village additions since our last visit in 2020. Staff was friendly and helpful. Security was obvious and plentiful.

Dang, what a museum... I never had an interest in cowboys before I visited this place! Structure of this museum is well separated. Great place for kids and adults. 2hours in wasn't enough for me to check everything out. Will have to come back to spend more time in it!

We were in town for a large convention, and our welcome dinner was hosted at the museum. There was so much to look at and explore. The old frontier town they've built inside the museum is really cool. Unfortunately, due to our limited time available that evening, there was quite a bit we didn't get to see, but it's definitely worth checking out.

Amazing place! The kids earned prizes for scavenger hunts and they learned so much doing them. The artwork was amazing and the vast array of historical objects, well, we were completely in awe. The museum did a really great job setting up the exhibits. We especially loved the rodeo area.

Very big museum with plenty of things to see. You can easily get lost in each exhibit and if you look at everything closely you'll probably spend at least three hours. Saw it in passing through town and decided to visit as a joke but it ended up being the most entertaining place to visit in OKC.

A shout out to Jan who is just lovely!

Duration 2-3++ hours Parking: ample free parking Price: $15 One of the best museums we have ever been to! While we did not go into the museum with a strong interest in the subject matter spending time admiring the gorgeous art, expertly crafted exhibits, and beautiful design of the museum God is hooked. Who knew you could spend so much time looking at the 1300 different types of barbed wire, the different types of cowboy boots and hats, the history of the rodeo, and countless other fascinating exhibits. The museum has a fantastic collection of Western Art from all time periods! It even has a whole exhibit space in an outdoor garden that feels like disney, transporting you into the old days of the rest and seeing the traditional homes of native americans. Overall I highly recommend spending as much time as you can in this Museum. It should be a must visit around in Oklahoma city, and is even worth making a special trip for. It is clean modern and a truly beautiful space COVID: when we visited September 2022, we were the only ones wearing a mask. However, we visited on a weekday and rarely saw others while in the museum.
