It's a grand building with a beautiful Indian chief statue above the cupola. We didn't go inside as we were pressed for time driving from Dallas to Missouri but had I known of its grandeur we would have definitely took a tour of it. There is a special visitors parking but you can drive around and stop temporarily at free assigned spots for better view. It’s a feature of our vacations to try and visit the state capitol, Oklahoma’s turn this time. The area around the capitol building is vast and it seemed ages before we could find the right place to park. The building itself is also huge, and undergoing an enormous refurbishment. Entrance is through an enclosed tunnel really pointing out how many windows have been fixed. It looks very clean. A really kind lady from the shop took husband and I on a tour of the parts of the building accessible during the refit. We discovered that the building was erected during WW1 but that the dome didn’t come until 2002. We peeked into the Senate room, with its rich mahogany desks for the 48 senators, marvelled at the fantastic murals by Charles Banks Wilson. There are impressive sculptures at the entrance too. Very informative and free! Recommended

Can’t post much as we went for morning walk on Sunday as our Airbnb was only 1 mole from Capitol. The building is under construction so couldn’t see it up close, and well maintained outside. There is tribal memorial at the back side of building and veterans memorial on side that are good to cover as well.

We only saw it from the outside. Should have planned it better and scheduled it so we could visit the inside. Would have been cool to see the inside of the dome. The oil rig in the front is an interesting choice - I guess to show the importance of the industry to the state.

We visited two state capitols on this trip, and my children are in the double digits of capitols they have toured now. It's always interesting seeing what a state does with visitors - what they show and emphasize. Oklahoma shared the art and focus of the state very well. The story of "The Guardian" is worth the official free tour. They rotate art and have some permanent exhibits. When the legislator is in session it seems lively and full of life. We spent about 2 hours - first on the formal tour, then just going and looking at the art. Free parking Simple security Lots to see.

Oklahoma is last in education and has been dubbed the worst state for women thanks to our lovely legislators. They do not care about the public and are greedy, self concerned individuals.

A historic building that feels nostalgic and gothic at the same time. Inside of the capital is sort of dark because most of the lighting is natural in the hall ways and outside of the office and main areas so it feels sort of like I was inside of an old European castle. I had a chance to witness the process of lobbying and was surprised at this is where most bills and legislation start. The statute standing on top is called "The Guardian" and was created by Enoch Kelly Haney. It was placed there on June 7, 2002.

Stopped in today to tour the state capitol and pick up route 66 passports for my daughter and her friend. The two gentlemen working the gift shop were phenomenal. They were kind, had plenty of information about what to see there, and even let the girls stamp their own little passports. There was tons of beautiful artwork as well as a small museum inside. It was a great learning experience for the kiddos and a pleasant experience overall!

Lots of renovations were going on while we were there. It was our first time so we didn't know what was new or old. We toured the chamber with our district's senator and sat in on a session. I reccomend it if you visit when session is available!

Been to multiple state capitals and although this one is still under construction for renovations, it's still gorgeous with all of the murals and beautiful mix of colors inside! The dome is gorgeous and the granite throughout is phenomenal! Totally worth a visit if in Oklahoma city and looking for something free to do! Definitely coming back when the place comes alive when the state Congress is back at it.

Such a fabulous building in the heart of Oklahoma The state has done a very good job renovating and rejuvenating this landmark structure. Visitors are welcome and encouraged. Parking is very good on the south side of the Capitol and the entrance locations are well staffed and secure. There is a very nice little gift shop on the "B" level (a little pricey) but it has a great variety and there are "clearance" items available. The bathroom facilities are very clean and well stocked. It is a very busy location during the legislative season (Jan-May) and there a frequent displays in the rotunda.

Building was under construction so couldn't see it all. Front area wasn't the nicest. There was an old oil tower right in the middle of the front view which kind of blocked it and didn't look nice. Also big parking lots out for Senate etc....instead of park/grass/landscaping like many other Capitola have. Inside was nice. Cool dome and replica statue of dome topper.

The exterior and surrounding park are full of interesting monuments. Their website says they are open for tours daily, but the last 2 times I've been, there were no tours at all.

One of the most beautiful and biggest state capitol we’ve ever been to. Well planned layout, spacious with beautiful paintings displayed. The dome with the seal is awesome!

A beautiful Capitol building, and an incredibly well done memorial. Kudos to the artist for the amazing work! Couldn't have asked for better weather, it was a perfect day. There's plenty of parking here, and it's very easy to walk around to see the art and architecture. Well worth the visit! There are a lot of Pokestops and a few gyms here for the Go players.

The Oklahoma State Capital is gorgeous! It’s free to visit and open on the weekends. There’s even a self guided museum on the first floor. The colors of the inside of the dome represent the state flour and the blue Oklahoma sky. The monument on top of the building os referenced as the guardian. I believe it’s the first state Capitol with a Native American placed on top do the dome.

Wow! I've been to several State capitals and as a Texan I didn't think this would be all that impressive. I was wrong y'all, they have done an excellent job on the renovations. They have a beautiful modern museum, and wonderful little store and even a small food outlet. I appreciated the seating (with phone plugs) while we were waiting for our tour. The tour was fantastic! The guide, Bill, did a wonderful job answering our questions and explaining the unique ways OK handles it's affairs. The art all over was amazing and we walked around after the tour just to look at it. Overall two thumbs up 👍👍 🤠

Came here on a rainy Tuesday and throughly enjoyed the renovation. From the tunnel from the parking lot, to the amazing art work and restored interior, this is one of our favorites so far. Happened into a tour group and the docent invited us along. Bonus to learn about the history, the building and the governance of the state.

We took a couple weeks to visit a number of states including several state capitols. This was by far the nicest one we visited. We visited on a Sunday morning in mid October and had the building basically to ourselves to tour. Gorgeous dome and artwork depicting the history of Oklahoma on each level of the building.
