Butterfly conservation park in Cambridge is an escape to tropical environment. They have a variety of botanical specimens which grow in Asia and South America. They have a huge collection of butterflies which are incubated and maintained in a perfect setting. There is a man-made waterfall with fishes and turtles. The staff walks around with caterpillars and rare species explaining it to visitors. The kids had a blast with butterflies landing on them and playing with them. There is an exhibition outside the controlled environment. It showcases spiders, scorpions, poisonous frogs, beetles and worms. The cafeteria at the side has a patio and has basic sandwiches, hot and cold beverages. They have enough parking space. Tickets are 20$ for 13-65 yrs, free for <2 yrs, 15$ for seniors. Overall 4.8/5. It is a great place for Wedding or event photography.

Came here with my wife and 5 year old. We absolutely loved it. The insect area is very underrated with great information from the nice lady in there, Avery. The butterfly area itself was beautiful. Also, keep in mind it's very warm for the butterflies so when the lady says the coat room is down the hall, it's a good idea to listen and do that. There's also a cafe inside which is surprisingly very affordable, however, if you don't eat animals, not many choices. I'd allow about an hour to see everything in here. We budgeted a bit more time but that wasn't necessary. Unless you plan on eating there. It was very cool though, a definite stop on the way to Toronto or anywhere in that area. 5/5.

Lovely place to spend a relaxed couple of hours. It has some great “walls” for photographs . Just to walk around and be surrounded by flashes of brilliant jewel colours is like a painting come alive. The rooms with the glass cases have all sorts of creepy crawlies and very much alive! Endless variety of mounted butterflies and a wealth of information. It was our first time here and we had a wonderful time and a very enjoyable afternoon. There was a wedding event taking place that day so the Cafe was booked, and we didn’t get to try anything there. There is also the customary gift shop . Definitely worth it.

Spent Wonderful summer afternoon here with family!! 🦋 ☀️ 🌱 Lovely well maintained property. Book your tickets online otherwise you maybe rejected if there is no spot available!! There is a cafe inside for a quick bite but you can bring your own food and enjoy it at the back on picnic tables provided at the facility. Neat and clean washrooms are there! Ample parking is available Kids will love it 😍 🦋

This is a really fun place to visit. The lobby entrance has two really cool museum areas. They contain lots of exotic bugs, small reptiles, etc. My kids loved this part. The actual conservatory area feels like a tropical vacation. They maintain a really warm humid temperature (take your coat off in the car in the winter). Walking through feels so cool. There are butterflies flying all around, landing on you and feeding on the little pieces of fruit they leave out. Part way in there's an area with cocoons and chrysalises hanging, all in different stages. We watched a butterfly hatch and saw many that has just freshly hatched (so cool)! Decent gift shop. I purchased some bbq flavoured crickets to give them a try with some friends. Not bad lol Highly recommend a visit here.

Great place to bring the family. Wear something bright to attract the butterflies on you! Kids will love this place!! Cool displays of bugs and a small gift shop. Not sure if the cafe is open yet, but the family had lots of fun! Roughly takes about an hour to go through the whole place.

This place is such a nice escape in the Canadian winter. It is also really good place for families and dates! The garden has a nice cute path that lets you see a lot of different butterflies. I really liked how they had descriptions of butterflies outside of the garden and that gives you a more educated outlook when you see them.

I had a beautiful visit with my Grandmother. She and I were both delighted to learn about different insects, spiders and more. The atmosphere was so serene and tranquil. They have many different plant types which are very cool to look at on their own. It was one of the most breathtaking experiences that I've had. If you are looking to be filled with unmistakable, unquestionable happiness, this is the place to come. Sitting down on a bench with a loved one and watching hundreds of butterflies effortlessly glide through the air is an experience that I will treasure forever.

It feels like you have stepped into a tropical destination! Seeing the birds and the butterflies roam freely was so special. A lot of benches to sit and just enjoy being in “nature” for a little bit. It’s too warm in there so make sure you are not dressed in layers if you are visiting in the winter months. It’s also a great educational experience if you have kids.

This place is smaller than the Niagara one. The staff was super friendly and polite, with a wedding going on the cafe was closed but the staff will still get you some things like drinks and snacks. The gift shop ladies were awesome. Thank you to the two ladies in the gift shop, I really needed that water after how hot it was inside with the butterflies Birds and insects. My Date and I came here for our second date. this was a great idea, we had fun and took a lot of pictures. I'll upload them for the public to view. although hot, the butterflies were still landing on us and showing us some love, it was an enjoyable experience. I would recommend everyone to come here. butterflies are very transformational beings, when they land on you they are letting you know change is coming for you. the kind of change for some that changes their lives forever. In shamanic traditions butterflies tell us change is around the corner. be prepared and allow these changes to open us up to the new and sometimes challenging experiences. Visit this place! it's worth it.

Well organised place for kids & family to visit. You must buy ticket from online. No walk-in guaranteed! The interior has four parts. A tropical rain forest where many butterflies & plants remain. Two gallery. One gift shop. A cafeteria. Outside part is children's playground & a trail. Washroom facilities is very good. Available parking. You can bring foods & drinks inside but you can eat inside the tropical rain forest. You can sit & eat your own foods inside cafeteria or outside just besides the playground. A nice place.

Great place for a fun family outing! Lots of beautiful butterflies to see and doesn't take very long to go through. We casually walked around and stopped from time to time and it only took us about 45 minutes, which was the perfect amount of time for my 5 year old!

Always a great place to visit, especially with children. I have been here 4+ times, but this was my first visit since the pandemic. I was a little concerned about the lack of social distancing at times, but everyone were wearing masks at least. Good food in the cafe, and safety measures were on point. Definitely recommend!

Lovely place!! Has everything a insect lover want. Living insects to exact replicas. They also have a butterfly conservatory where you can find a wide variety of butterflies flying around you. If you feel hungry hanging out with the butterflies there's also a cafe and a playground for the kids. Perfect place to spend time to have fun and learn something new.

Went for the first time with my parents for Mother's Day, it was lovely visit! Beautiful butterflies in a tropical climate room, surrounded by lush plants, chirping birds, and even some fish and a turtle in the small pond in the centre of the room. As you walk around the circular pathway, there are benches, info plaques, butterfly feeders, and some small display tanks. The room was smaller than I expected, but I was pleasantly surprised at how much there still is to see. Along with the main butterfly area, there are two additional galleries with live and preserved specimens of interesting insects, bugs, arachnids, and amphibians, as well as preserved specimens of butterflies and moths. Happy to recommend a visit, especially if you like nature and science. With the bubbling creek and waterfall over the pond, even though it was sometimes busy, it still felt relaxing and peaceful, like being in a little slice of the forest in the city. Plus you get to see/learn about bugs and other creatures - what's more to want?

Went to the Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory on August 14 2023. Admission was reasonable at $20 an adult, $15 for seniors, and $10 for a child. It was recommended to prebuy tickets, but there was plenty of availability upon arrival. Staff were amazing, both knowledgeable, friendly, and enthusiastic about the work they do! This butterfly conservatory has a couple of bug rooms where you can see different insects, including spiders, beetles, scorpions, nymphs, locusts, and more. The butterfly enclosure has birds, and a couple of turtles as well. During our visit a couple of the employees let us hold a millipede, hissing cockroach, and a thorny devil... I passed, but my wife sure was happy! I highly recommend if you're looking to burn a couple hours!

You will discover many different free-flying butterflies, you also have chance to see various insects and bugs. This conservatory is smaller than the one on Niagara. If you are visiting here in winter be aware that inside is warm and humid so wear something that you can take off or dress lightly. (there is a coat check drop for jacket and stuff) There was small table with crayons for kids to paint near the insect part. Washrooms are clean and there is a changing table but unfortunately no Nursing room. In the gift shop there are some books, butterflies in the frame, ice cream, cups and … Parking lot is next to conservatory and free. Staff are friendly. Monday is closed. Admission fee is: 20$ for adults 15 $ for seniors 10 $ for child 3-12 Under 3 is free

An Absolutely fabulous way to spend a day! We got tickets for our family as part of a Christmas present and spent the afternoon at the conservatory. Buying the tickets in advance online was a breeze and the admission process was very quick and easy. Walking through the main part of the conservatory is breath taking the different flowers and butterflies make for a very colourful walk through their man-made forest. We went with our 2 year old and he was fascinated by the different butterflies. When we was getting bored of the butterflies there is a lovely jungle-gym and play area behind the cafe which we used to full effect! I would absolutely recommend taking the whole family to this wonderful attraction!

An excellent place to spend time with your kids and family. Lots of butterflies which will land on your hands and body. The staff there are very nice who will offer to put the creatures on your hands. Strongly recommend for a relaxing getaway.

Was a good activity to do with our family (2 under 2 years old). Lots too look at like vibrant plant life, beautifully coloured butterflies, galleries of other insects and many birds. Staff were extremely knowledgeable and friendly making the experience even better. Would go back again and recommend for anyone who loves nature.

Had an amazing visit! Our nature interpreter Allison was absolutely fantastic! She told us so many cool facts about the bugs, butterflies and plants that I never knew before! I would definitely recommend the Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory to all my friends and family.

This is one of my favorite places, and I would highly recommend stopping by and having a ton of fun. My wife and I stop here every time we come this way, and we always leave happy. I thought I was afraid of some of the insets 🐛 they have there, but the girl that was bringing them around to people was awesome, so we tried it out. We loved it! Give it a try 💯.

Won tickets from a radio station to see this fabulous place and so happy that we found ourselves in that area and were able to take advantage of. Friends have been and repeatedly go with their children so was happy I found myself in the area and had the time! From the moment we were greeted by the lovely staff at the front door until the moment we ran in the rain to our vehicle we were happy! Love that you can stay as long as you want and weren't hustled through at lightning speed. There was a young lady setting up the chrysalis for us to watch and she was super sweet and educated and eager to share so that was a nice treat. While I didn't manage to get a beautiful butterfly to sit on my hand, I did capture a lot of great photos. Not too big, not too small. Read all about anything/everything or don't. Shop or browse, no pressure. Even a wee cafe therein. Would definitely come back when in the area.

A beautiful experience for the family, or for a date. You walk into the conservation area, and you are immediately welcomed by butterflies. Tons of different kinds, if you are lucky, they will land on you. They have little birds as well as turtles you can see. It was an unexpected but amazing find.

First visited ten years ago and have been waiting to visit again. It is truly a magical feeling. The butterflies are in good condition. The staff were so warm and polite. The conservatory where the butterflies are is quite humid and hot (especially after a hour). Best to dress in layers. Also noticed some butterflies rest on the ground, so I was careful not to step on them. The cafe there was the perfect spot to rest and chat before going back in to check out the butterflies and birds again!

Loved the initiative taken here. I loved all the blue butterflies and the way these butterflies are left soo free. It's a good place to visit even if you are an adult like me. I saw kids enjoying the large variety of butterflies and insects and I was mesmerized how they could recognize the insects.

Love this place. The butterflies 🦋are so magical. The tropical scenery is so peaceful. The staff are so friendly and kind. The facility is nice a spacious but not overwhelmingly big to tired you out by walking. Went on a Sunday hand there was plenty of parking because you have to buy tickets for a specific time slot. Great place for kids and entire family!!! 💗

Awesome experience, a great place to learn more about insects and butterflies. There is a lot to see for both kids and adults, such as live insects expositions, a great collection of preserved specimens in glass displays and, of course, the main butterfly exposition. You can even witness the first minutes of the life of butterflies. Had an awesome time, I recommend to visit this place at least once.

We visited the Butterfly Conservatory on a Saturday afternoon and had a great time. We did book tickets in advance to ensure we could get our time slot but we were a bit early which wasn’t a problem. There is ample parking adjacent to the building including plenty of handicapped parking spots. Not only does the butterfly conservatory offer a chance to see some beautiful butterflies, it also features many different plants, insects and frogs. The staff were knowledgeable and friendly, and even provided us the opportunity to hold a millipede and a female Jungle Nymph. This was an educational experience that would be great for the whole family. I highly recommend checking it out.

Absolutely love this place. The staff are passionate, informative and friendly. I probably spent an hour watching butterflies emerge and despite the fact that they see thousands a week the staff were right there watching and explaining/teaching with wonder in their voices. Truly people that love their jobs! Doesn’t get too too busy - 50 tickets per half hour, unlimited duration but budget about 2 hours if you want to stay engaged, longer if you just want to relax or observe.

The space is very small. The staff is very friendly. It's located in a very rural area with nothing else to see after you had your 2 hour timed visit. Fun for kids under age 4. Nice for seniors as well. Wouldn't say this is a date spot. Closes at 5pm. So you have to book off work to go. Not a place I'd go to in the winter as the roads are small and dark. The butterflies are very pretty. And the climate inside is very warm. Lots of fish, turtles, frogs. Birds and other small insects to look at.

More than just butterflies - beautiful small birds & awesome insects! We have annual passes & it is well worth the cost. Food is delicious, staff are super friendly, atmosphere is great. It is a small place - 2 small rooms with live & dead bugs, 1 butterfly area, gift shop & food…good place to spend a couple of hours before nap time with a toddler. It’s great that they do timed ticketing to ensure that the place doesn’t get too crowded. It was more fun to visit when capacity was lower - pick a time to visit when there are lots of tickets available…that way you’ll have a more personalized experience & less people competing for butterflies to land on them.

Visited this place once and it was really beautiful. This place has so many types of butterflies and in almost all the colours. We all were adults but I guess children would enjoy here most. The place is pretty small in terms of size than we thought it would be.

  • 5/5 Jaspal S. 2 years ago on Google
Visited this place with my twins (4 years) and loved it. The place is maintained very well. It is very clean and you can imagine that it is not easy task. There are good exhibit areas showcasing bugs, butterflies and inspects. There were some live bugs, inspects, frog, scorpion etc. It is nice place to teach kids. So must visit place for kids. Butterfly conservatory is amazing. They have maintain tropical climate and you can see different species of birds, butterflies and turtles. Kids can watch them from close distance. Also there is small waterfall and pond for fishes. There are benches all around so you can sit and relax too Tips: - The old people can visit it as there is not too much walk and place is very accessible. - The climate inside the conservatory area is hot so you need to take off your jackets. - The area is not very big so you can cover easily in 1 hours. However you can easily spend more than 2 hours if kids are young enough to learn about it

It's a very nice place to spend a couple of hours of quality time with family and friends. The facility has two sections. One section has few exhibits in the glass enclosures and another section has a tropical garden with all the live butterflies flying around. It also has a few very cool birds. Overall it was a very good experience.

  • 5/5 Angela P. 2 years ago on Google
Friendly staff, lots of parking, nice little cafe and outside eatting area for when or if you get hungry with reasonable prices, walk through the "jungle" and explore at your own pace and there is a few other rooms with really cool stuff and live bugs as well and a small gift shop with reasonably priced items as well.

  • 4/5 Kathy-Ann H. 2 years ago on Google
It was nice but I thought it would have alot more butterflies. The garden is very lush and beautiful though.

  • 5/5 Olya M. 2 years ago on Google
Nice place! Free parking but should have a booking online in advance for entry. $20 per adult and $8 per youth kid. Our 4 yo girl had a fun but we spend here 1 your only. So 1 hour for trip - 1 for fun - and 1 hour for back trip 🤪😆 My recommendation to plan something else for visit in this aria

  • 4/5 Victor C. 2 years ago on Google
First time going and it kids loved it. We have been to Niagara conservatory and thats the only one i can compare it to. In comparison this place is smaller. there are 2 rooms before the main attraction with insects and other animals.

The Butterfly Conservatory is a favorite destination for our family. The butterflies have a magical quality to them. There are many benches where you may sit and enjoy being in “nature” for a while. At the butterfly conservatory, we had a great time.✨
