This place is OK. Yes it’s a great Kentucky swimming hole with exceptionally clear water & lots of fish and a cool spot to jump into the water. Aside from that, you might as well go to the lake for FREE. I used to work here and only got paid 11$ an hour, it was 20$ per person to enter the quarry. They have raised the price to 35$ a day for people to come and swim (which is nearly as much as they make the scuba divers pay (40$) I think it’s ridiculous). You can no longer chill at the nice shaded spots or at ANY of the picnic tables/grill areas that are provided because they are VIP and you must pay 30 more dollars to reserve one of those. When you do lay your towel down on the ground to dry off or get a tan there are thousands of fire ants and tiny red bugs that crawl all over you. You also cannot swim without a float, so don’t get too excited to go snorkeling.. you’ll surely have someone come up and tell you that you must be with your float. If you don’t care about any of this and are wealthy enough to spend 35$ to swim for a few hours- it’s a great place for that! 🤪🤪🤪 I usually love the quarry but like many others, I do get annoyed by the yearly price hike and the loss of “first come first serve” spots that were there in seasons prior. ♥️

I started coming here in 2016. It has gone from $10 admission to $35. Raising every year even before the pandemic.. That is absolutely ridiculous. Not only that, but you can't park close to your spot anymore, unless you pay for "VIP". It used to be first come first serve for these spots. Now for the $35 price, you get a sunburn from no shade and have to walk all the way back around to your spot. The prices are so egregious I can't imagine returning when I get a monthly pool membership for almost the price of single day admission. I understand workers deserve a fair wage. I understand inflation. But to take away all amenities on top of a %300 price increase in ~5 years? No thanks .

Disappointed. I heard several people enthuse about it and wanted to go. It wasn’t what I expected. -$35 per person entry fee that must be booked online - my car and bags searched by a slightly scruffy bunch of guys who opened and sniffed all the water bottles - I knew about the flotation device requirements, but found them a little silly. - the no alcohol policy is understandable, but also a bit of a bummer - the local police slowly cruising around the quarry and giving the occasional toot with their siren A few more amenities would have made it worth $35, but as it is that is outrageously overpriced.

YOU WILL NOT REGRET GOING HERE! Beautiful, clear water. NO KIDS. Floating because its so deep really eliminates the annoying splashing and screeching of a water park. I'd go here all the time if it were closer to home. Notes: because of COVID you have to make your reservation online in advance, pay in advance, and fill out your waiver in advance. No alcohol or drugs allowed. No pets. And most importantly YOU HAVE TO BRING A FLOAT. The water is too deep so they do not allow swimming. There is no lifeguard on duty. It's also just realllllly beautiful. If you want a relaxing day full of bliss, go here. Just don't forget your sunscreen.

Highly recommend this place if you've never been, its a must see and experience hot spot! The environment is extremely laid-back and peaceful. There are designated spots to be able to jump into the Quarry. It is also a facility for certified scuba divers to go. they offer several underwater attractions for divers to explore and find. I will mention that the partygoers beware! They have a zero tolerance for alcohol and drug use and will inspect your vehicle upon entry. They do require a float per-person in order to be on their body of water. it's simply for your own protection due to How deep the water is.

Im not quite sure why this place has such negative reviews! I will definitely go back. Very laid back, great customer service, beautiful place. I agree that $35 is a bit much for a lake with what appears to be of little maintenence but for a piece of peace (such as this), that’s not bad at all and they can take my money! I took a few jumps from several locations at the lake. -Areas where its safe to jump will have a red mark. Water is deep, clean, and clear.

We had a beautiful and relaxing girls day out at The Quarry. We rented VIP spot 8 and had direct access to the water. It was nice having our own space, picnic table, and parking spot to lay all of our stuff out. The water was so clear, the fish were friendly, and the vibe was calm. The food truck had a nice selection of eats for around $6-$8. My only complaint would be that the $35 price is a little high for lake access when comparing it to the cost of other attractions such as theme parks, pools, or zoos/ museums. I would return but probably no more than once or twice a season due to the cost. However, the extra $25 for a VIP spot is definitely worth it. They do thoroughly check your tickets and ID'S as well as search your vehicle as stated clearly in the rules so don't be surprised or rude about it.

The check in process is completely broken. We had reservations and prepaid thinking we would get in quicker. We had only 3 cars in front of us and still took over an hour. Then you get to go thru a search and seizure process when they completely tear your vehicle apart and put everything back in a pile with no regard for your belongings. I haven’t been in a while and will not be returning. Too expensive and very invasive. Love the swim but that was the only plus for this experience.

Found 0 alcohol in my friend’s car, nobody was drunk or acting out of order. He had a couple beer tops in the car that has nothing to do with me but they decided to breathalyze us anyways, I had 2 mimosas for brunch over an hour before that (i do what i want in my free time) and that got us all sent away after paying $35 for entrances and $25 extra for “vip” parking. some of their staff is VERY rude and will take advantage of the little authority they can get. they advise you to pay cash bc of a “transaction fee” but it’s really so you cant get your money back. Police were there, apparently we were too “drunk” to lay on some floats but not too drunk to drive an hour back home.

This place is great; respectful staff, relaxing vibe, and no alcohol or kids. I will just say that there seems to be a 1-to-1 correlation between not following the no alchol policy and leaving a bad review. I'm so happy to have a place that has a zero tolerance policy for alcohol.

Being from out of state I was excited about this place. This place was a joke. $35 per person. They search through your cars and bags/coolers. No alcohol allowed. Police everywhere. You MUST always have a floatation device while in the water. Couldn't even relax. To many rules. Take my advice and go to a FREE swimming hole like red river jump rock, or flat lick falls. Where you can swim, relax, have a drink or two, enjoy the scenery. This place thinks they are disney world or something. What a shame.

Absolutely disgustingly rude workers. Huge scam. They take your money and look for any reason to kick you out. A sad joke of a park. I knew I wasn’t getting my money back but felt I had to do something because they took all of my money so I pleaded with a woman that seemingly only wanted to see me hurt. She had the most evil smile when she saw I was crying. Needs to be looks at by better business bureau or make some major changes. Also the men who searched our car were weird and gross - all of them

This place is a cool attraction, but for $25 a person it's on the pricey side since there's not much to do other than float. When I went previously, they searched my car as usual but i still had a lady drive up on a golf cart later while I was sitting eating by my car ask me all these questions about if I was over there smoking or drinking. She said they usually don't let people sit by their cars but you already searched it? And there's nowhere else to sit? Pretty overbearing atmosphere when you're just trying to relax

The quarry is a beautiful, peaceful & refreshing place! I absolutely love going here! You literally feel like you are in a whole different dimension! I absolutely love it there! Plus they keep it safe! The rules are simple, no alcohol or drugs. They do a great job keeping the place safe for those who just want to swim & have a great time getting away from normal reality! The staff & owners are amazing down to earth people. They are so accommodating, have everything you need there & really bond with their customers! It’s the perfect place to go to get away for a day, be in nature, go swimming and live your best life! This is a go to spot! A home away from home! Thank you to the staff!

Have some fun in the sun! FRP is a great place to lounge around in the water or be adventures and leap from the cliffs. There's something for everyone here. The quarry is large enough for people to spread out so it doesn't feel too crowded. My first time here was a blast and I look forward to going back!

Very enjoyable weekend for Scuba Rescue Certification. Visibility about 12-15ft. Many sunken treasures to find including several boats, three wheeler, phone booth. Lots of Bass, bluegill, and a monster paddlefish. 2 dive platforms stationed at 15 ft perfect for skill check-off. Quarry check-in was quick and efficient with online reservation and ticket purchase. Staff was very friendly. FRP is adult only and you must have a flotation device (tube, pool noodle, life vest, etc) if you are going just to swim/float. This is strictly enforced. Bottom depth drops to 30ft quickly off the shoreline. No drugs or alcohol allowed. Vehicles will be searched.

Pretty expensive but a cool experience. Its clean and safe with no worries about stepping on glass, rusty beer cans or nails. They are BIG on No Alcohol or Drugs. They WILL search you coming in. Only problem I had was it was pretty expensive. Neat place for a swim for sure.

Very nice. The water is so clear. It has 2 diving areas. NO KIDS. You just float, relax and tan. There is a food truck, shop to buy floats, tank tops, shirts, hats. They offer VIP parking for a fee. You can rent a paddle boat or a paddle board. There's a volleyball court and you can play water basketball.

I was late this year trying to make a trip over and got on the website today for a ticket and am now really, really disappointed. This was the coolest place ever but now you're charging $35 each to come swim here? This is not Kings Island Water park or anything even close. I thought the world of this place for years and recommended it to many people but it seems that greed has taken over as with everywhere else :( This was such a peaceful day trip but there is no way I can say it's worth $35 a person. I'm really sad to be taking this off the list of my favorite places :'( So disappointing -- I hope you reconsider now that you've now ruled out many really good, hardworking people from being able to enjoy one of what was the last affordable places to swim.

Gorgeous and fun. Strict rules, but I like it because it keeps the bad crowd out and the water clean! Very relaxing. There's an air compressor on site, and a lot of grills so bring food!

There is a zero alcohol tolerance policy. It is very clearly stated on social media, the website, and about every 10 ft at the Quarry itself. There is no excuse for anyone to take issue with this. That aside, I am so, so happy to have finally visited this place. The staff are phenomenal- honestly some of the friendliest, most helpful people i have ever encountered in a workplace. From the moment we pulled in they were extremely helpful and thorough in explaining the check in process and what was available. Yes, they search your car like you are crossing the border. But there was no fighting or obnoxious behavior and that was pretty unique. We rented a VIP site and I loved it. You have some privacy and space to spread out, they are close to the snack shack, changing rooms and the port-a-potty. That was a pretty hard truth to accept, but seriously- it was clean. And yes, I am the person who would rather drive the hour back home. The ONLY personal issue I had to overcome was the clear water. Because you can see the fish. And I really, really don't like fish. But once you jump in (just do it) you can't see them. And the water is truly perfect. Everyone should check this place out. 100% worth the 35 per person and 25 for the site.

This place is amazing! The water is so clear you can see the fish! It was not crowded so we were able to float around and relax. The website says they limit the # of people per day so it would probably be fine any day. We went the last Friday open, I'm sure more people go during the weekend.

A wonderful relaxing clean place to come lay on a raft and let your cares float away! I love that there is no alcohol or funny business and 18 years or older. I especially love the cleanliness (yes even the porta pots!) and nice people. They even have signs of Be Kind throughout the park to help remind everyone of the day they want everyone to have. They have a food truck, place to blow up floats, a beach, docks in the middle to swim to and today they have live music! I buy the earliest season discount pass that they sell and think it is a great value! I love this place and wish I could come more often! Great people and great times!

Been coming here off and on for many years. (18-33). It’s one of the more relaxing and enjoyable things to do close by! There is a zero tolerance in alcohol, so keep that in mind when you go! Which, I’m thankful for. It ensures people don’t have to deal with obnoxious drunk people or the trash they leave laying around. The staff has always been helpful, friendly and committed to making sure that’s the experience I continue to receive! I cannot recommend enough, the snorkeling. There’s a rock shelf towards the center that you can scale down or float and admire the gateway to another dimension. (Underwater). So I highly suggest bringing fins, a mask and a snorkel. One of the best additions in the years I’ve been going there is the snack shack! The blue colored drink is my girlfriend and my favorite. TL;DR. Grab some snorkel gear and go see it for yourself! Been bringing family and friends that are new to the area for what’s almost a majority of my life! Will absolutely continue that tradition. Especially if it keeps improving the way it has been!

Today is my first experience in this beautiful place and I am sorry to have to feel desertion because of the staff. It is true that each person takes their job with the intention they want, but when you serve people who want to have a good time and are paying a high price for the place, but also for its services, the least that can be done is to treat them with dignity. First, the repair of the car is logical but excessive, in addition, no hygienic measures are taken since they uncovered a transparent knob with water and they smelled it in a way that is not pleasant at all. Second, the authoritarian and despotic way in which my brother was ordered to leave the place today is really inappropriate, it is not what was designed but how it was designed, in addition to the fact that he never behaved indecently with anyone. Really, if those situations did not exist, I could say that it is my favorite place. Good night to everybody.

Awesome place. We had a nice relaxing day out without the kids, which we don't get very often. It was nice for my husband an I to spend time with just the 2 of us. Really enjoyed feeding an watching all the fish

  • 4/5 Robert W. 8 months ago on Google
This place is a awesome fun and relaxing place to hang out. My only complaint is this. Anyone coming in will have their vehicle and personal belongings thoroughly search. By what looks like people who look they have a stint or two in a correctional institution. My recommendation is. There should be accountability to this business and we as consumers are held to the invasive search of vehicles/belongings. A criminal background check should be out in public view of all employees who here.
