I've
lived
in
a
lot
of
different
apartments.
Never
have
I
had
a
landlord
charge
me
for
"excess
carpet
wear"
--
they
charged
me
for
"depreciation."
The
law
clearly
states
they
can't
charge
you
for
worn
carpet.
But
the
fact
is
that
the
carpet
wasn't
worn
--
they
claim
it
was
on
the
first
2
stairs
and
that
"pics
are
on
file"
--
yet
they
won't
show
me
the
photos.
Brand
new
carpet
was
put
in.
I
lived
there
for
less
than
7
months.
I
always
remove
my
shoes;
I'm
not
a
heavy
person,
and
I
rarely
went
upstairs
into
the
loft
since
my
bed
was
downstairs
(too
hot
upstairs
in
summer).
It's
not
a
lot
of
money
--
only
$40,
but
it's
my
money
and
they
are
keeping
it
illegally.
The
owner
has
flat
out
refused
to
refund
it.
Unfortunately,
I
moved
out
of
state.
Otherwise,
I
would
be
fighting
him
on
this.
Also,
I
received
my
deposit
6
days
late
--
legally
they
have
21
days.
BTW,
if
they
don't
return
it
to
you
within
that
time,
legally
they
are
supposed
to
return
every
penny
and
cannot
withhold
any
portion
of
it.
Every
single
appliance
was
in
terrible
shape!
The
22
year
old
fridge
was
running
constantly.
The
indicator
light
on
the
stove
was
missing,
which
is
a
major
safety
hazard.
The
washing
machine
would
only
work
if
I
put
a
heavy
object
on
the
lid
to
close
it
all
the
way.
I
had
a
house
with
a
hot
water
heater
the
same
size
as
in
my
unit,
yet
I
had
far
less
hot
water.
After
7
minutes
(not
full
blast),
I'd
be
totally
out
of
hot
water.
Maintenance
tested
it
and
said
it
was
fine.
They
came
over
3
times
because
of
the
garbage
disposal.
2
times,
my
sink
clogged.
Another
complaint:
ANTS!!!!!!!
I've
lived
in
many
apartments
in
the
PNW,
and
I
NEVER
had
this
problem.
There
was
a
leak
from
my
window
and
water
would
drip
onto
my
baseboard
heater.
After
reporting
this,
repeatedly,
they
finally
took
care
of
it.
Also,
there
was
a
huge
hole
in
the
exterior
siding.
Birds
were
actually
nesting
in
my
wall.
Once
they
were
gone,
other
birds
continued
to
peck
on
the
hole.
Every
time
it
rained,
I
thought
of
all
the
water
that
was
penetrating
the
wall
cavity.
I
shouldn't
have
had
to
ask,
repeatedly,
for
this
to
be
fixed!
Another
thing,
my
vehicle
and
mailbox
were
broken
into.
The
property
is
not
well-lit,
which
is
not
good
for
security.
This
was
a
small
loft
apartment.
The
heat
rose
in
summer,
which
made
it
too
hot
for
me
to
have
my
bed
upstairs.
But
in
the
winter,
all
the
heat
went
up
&
out.
My
bill
for
Dec.
was
$115,
and
it
was
never
more
than
60
degrees
in
my
apartment
--
I
was
freezing!
(I
live
frugally
and
am
conscientious
of
my
electric
usage.)
I
asked
PSE,
the
electric
co.,
how
much
previous
tenants
had
paid.
The
average
monthly
winter
bill
was
$225!!!
That
is
ridiculous!
The
property
manager
was
very
nice,
but
she
left
just
after
I
moved
out.
I
heard
that
the
owner
was
difficult
to
work
for,
so
I
wish
the
best
of
luck
to
the
new
manager
(they
have
a
high
turnover!).
I
would
not
recommend
this
place
--
the
grounds
are
nice,
but
the
buildings,
etc.
need
major
work
--
lots
of
peeling
paint,
dry
rot,
old
and
inefficient
appliances,
etc.
No
wonder
since
maintenance
isn't
staying
on
top
of
those
things,
even
after
tenants
point
things
out.
The
owner
is
your
typical
slumlord
who
will
try
to
take
you
for
every
penny,
even
if
it's
against
the
law.
