We drove up to Olympia for lunch which turned out sub par, but found Sofie’s which more than made up for it. We even had the pleasure of being served by Sofie herself! The array of options of gelato was wide and tastey with small batch flavours such as coffee, grasshopper, cream, lime cream, mint, chocolate, butterscotch, as well as a number of vegan choices and a delicious sounding sundae special. If nothing else, definitely visit Olympia for some of Sofie’s scoops!

The staff are so great! 😁 Oh, and the gelato is out of this world! We got the flavor of the month Cosmic Brownie (Vanilla base + Brownie, Fudge, and Sprinkles!), Sweet Cream, Cardamom, Scout's Honor (minty!), and Stracciatella. Every flavor was perfect. I was a little nervous that the Cardamom was going to be too strong, but no! It's perfect! I love this place ❤️

On my way home from Seattle, suggested to stop at this place. It was yummy gelato and creamy. I wish I can try all the flavors. People were friendly and good service.

Olympia fog, cardamon and mango are few of my regular favorites. So good and a good size portion just in the small cup as well. Another plus is that it's located next to a few other yummy eateries so you can drop by for dessert. Also close to the boardwalk and farmers market.

Great gelato ice cream! I loved their Olympia Fog and coffees flavors! A little expensive for the amount of ice cream you get.

It was pretty good it was me and the kids's first time having gelato. I tried the coffee, One of my kids got the earl gray, And the other child got chocolate. We were a big fan of the texture.

My litmus test is always to sample a gelato or ice cream shop's basic chocolate and vanilla to gauge quality and value. I'm not saying that either was bad at Sofie's, but neither really stood out either. The vanilla was a little lacking, almost as if it were sweet cream as opposed to including much vanilla flavor. I shared two scoops with my son, which was a nice outing...but parking in the area is quite atrocious and it's located in a seedy part of downtown, which makes me hesitant to visit again with young children. Eight bucks felt a little steep, but I'm glad that I gave it a shot. Not sure we'll return though.

The girls were immensely busy, but they handled the line like a boss, it was legit. They were very sweet to my son, and the gelato was pretty damn good. Creamy, not too sweet, and my son definitely approved which is a huge plus for me.

Absolutely amazing ice cream!! Sizes may look small but they are able to pack so much into a small! Alex was the sweetest and made the experience perfect! Will definitely recommend to others!

THIS GELATO. Possibly the best ice cream/ gelato I’ve had in the world. Creative flavors, delicious, rich texture in incredible homemade cones. And so supportive and collaborative with other local businesses ❤️

Great little spot for a cool treat on a warm day. They have a lot of options and everything we tried was great. We were disappointed that when we got there they didn't have any pistachio, and others were asking for it too, so I'm guessing theirs is pretty incredible. Popular place. Staff seemed a little burned out, but it was Sunday afternoon. To be clear, they weren't bad, rude, or inefficient - they did fine. Just seemed like they were "over it". Which we can all relate to on some level. We'll be back when we're in Olympia!

Well, that’s amazing. Questa è una vera gelateria artigianale. Sooo good, smooth and flavorful. I had the ice cream espresso and oh my god… exactly what I needed. My wife hade the turtle and she was extremely happy with her decision… the crunchiness of the pecan are very well balanced with the smoothnesses of the ice cream. We’ll be back… soon 🫶🏼

My husband and I went in to try some gelato. It was very good. The flavors are unique and different. I feel like most the samples we tried, the flavors were more subtle, not to overpowering. I got the marionberry and it was fabulous, my husband got that as well as Mango! You could tell they use real mango, it was delicious. The butter scotch in my opinion, could’ve had a little more intense flavor, but the flavor good. I also sampled the cardamom. It was different not bad just different.

Such an amazing treat after a night on the town. They make their gelato flavors from scratch and the flavors are unique and localized. The staff is warm and help with suggestions. I order a mix of cinnamon and butterscotch flavors.... loved both

So good, even in the winter. The flavors are on point. Vegan options always available. Butterscotch is my fav. Staff are always friendly!

This is the best gelato I've ever had. Fresh, delicious strawberry sorbet! The staff is kind and helpful. Great decor and ambiance. I highly recommend Sofie's Scoops!

Came here on a whim 3 years ago. I remembered being amazing that I’ve always wanted to come back but never had the chance. I finally got that chance today and it’s just as good as I remembered. Maybe better. Seriously the best gelato I’ve ever had. The sweat cream and the cardamom flavors are must haves.

The server had a really bad attitude. Made us super uncomfortable. Almost cancelled our order in the middle, wishing I had now. The salted butterscotch was like caramel flavor not butterscotch at all, which was what my wife got. The point of stopping was to get my wife a nice treat and even the flavor missed the mark entirely. The whole experience was pretty terrible. From the disrespectful customers before us who let their friend cut in front of us, the terrible service, then the gelato was just mediocre. Won't be back.

Such delicious gelato! We ordered four different kinds and enjoyed them all, but the salted caramel coffee was my favorite. They even had gluten free waffle cones, which tasted great as well. We will certainly be back and can't wait to try their other flavors.

There is always a dairy free option or two and they even have homemad gluten-free waffle cones. Sofie's Scoops Gelato often donates to causes in our community. Definitely a worthwhile stop!

A great place to stop by and have gelato if you happen to be in Olympia. I love the flavors they offer, service is always top notch.

Love the gelato here. High quality and tasty and sometimes the flavors are so amazing (passion fruit swirl in the cream and fresh mint in the strawberry as perfect examples). They also source their milk locally which I prioritize and appreciate highly. I do wish the cones didn't have such an intense cinnamon flavor, it only fits with vanilla/chocolate/etc. flavors. It HIGHLY clashes with the fruit flavors. I wish there was a non-cinnamon option, or no cinnamon option at all (if you only have room for 1 waffle cone). Waffle cone is always my favorite option when getting ice cream/gelato/etc. I do just get my Sofie's Scoops in a cup for now, because it's still really good. I also noticed that the serving set up is extremely NON-ergonomic for the employees. I see the employees have to lean all the way into the cooler to scoop the gelato from the front. I'd be extremely shocked if everyone that works there isn't experiencing at least mild back pain-if not constant serious back pain, and long term that can really compromise your posture and general health (a slough of different alignment issues that will compromise mobility as people age). I hope they can get a new cooler where they don't put their employees at risk ergonomically, because it is a serious health risk to be taken seriously. Perhaps trays that are aligned to run parallel with the counter instead of perpendicular so that the reach is limited. I know the display is currently the focus, and it makes sense if you don't think about actually interacting with it and just the customer's view. But, I hope that safety can be more prioritized in this instance! The kitchen equipment suppliers may be able to recommend more employee friendly set ups, I'd assume. I knocked down 2 stars, 1 for each of those...if they fix those they'll be back at 5 stars for sure.
