Honestly, I truly do not understand the few low ratings. This place is a godsend. How could you possibly complain about free lodging for parents with sick kiddos? You want something spectacular, go spend the money at a Holiday Inn. The Rainbow House was a blessing as our newborn son was life flighted from Norfolk - so as you can imagine, we were far from home. We didn’t have to worry about hotel costs, where we would sleep, showering, food. The Rainbow House offered all of that. My hormonal self was overcome with so much emotion over the kindness of the staff and others in the community that provide such amenities to parents. I thought the beds were comfy, I brought my own pillow, the rooms are spacious and equipped with your own TV when you need just a moment to unwind. You get a large, spacious bathroom and the water in the shower gets so hot, I was in Heaven. They also have a community kitchen that is open 24/7 - stoves, microwaves, fridges, sinks. Anything you could possibly need in a place to make it feel like home. They provide food, snacks, and beverages so you’re not having to worry about purchasing all of that. I LOVED the ice and water machine. After giving birth I was extremely thirsty and that was an amazing thing to have. I went down each night to grab a jug of ice water! The staff is kind and helpful. All in all, it was a great experience and if we are ever in a situation like that again, we would definitely stay again. The only thing I’d change was the lack of close parking spots. There weren’t a lot so if you couldn’t find one, you had to park over in another building’s parking lot. No big deal though. Thank you Rainbow House staff for all you do!

It's one of the most amazing places in Omaha! My son is disabled and had to come to Omaha numerous times a year, and this is our go to place when we'll be having surgery or be here for more than two days for appointments. The staff here is amazing and caring and very good with kids. They gave him a parrot this time around and he's just in love with him! His name is Jabber. This place is wheelchair access has handi-capable parking, rooms/toilets, and kitchen areas. It has an outdoor playground for kiddos. The rooms are controlled by a thermostat for heating and cooling. Spacious rooms and bathrooms. They are very secure as well! I 100% trust this place.

This place is a true blessing. It's a miracle for families that live a ways away and have a child who is a patient at Children's Hospital. Rainbow House helps families who have to travel more than 60 miles to Children's by offering a room, kitchen, laundry, and more in a "home away from home" that is a 10 minute walk or 5 minutes drive or (free!) shuttle ride away from the hospital and clinic. The stay is free. They accept donations of money, groceries, laundry soap, books, etc. The money all supports the House and staffing as the stay is free, while groceries and books other things are provided to families. The website says it costs about $70/night for a family to stay, but again, we were never asked to make a donation nor was it mentioned. We will certainly do so, though, and probably drop off groceries whenever we come through Omaha. The staff are so kind and so are the other guest families. If you have to stay awhile, you become a bit more than a guest as the staff and other families will check in with you about you and your family are doing because they really care. The rooms are incredibly spacious. The dining room/kitchen is very clean. Many families have to stay for more than a day or two, and you are well taken care of. There are 4 kitchen 'stations' fully equipped with stove/oven and cooking utensils. Each room has a private pantry behind the kitchen with a mini-fridge to store groceries. This place was a miracle for us. Some families have had to travel a long ways and end up staying for a month or more. Can you imagine the expense if your family had to stay in a motel? Eat out every meal or subsist on snacks? And there's no rest in a hospital. Rainbow House is as real of a true blessing as I have ever seen.

I can't say enough about this place! It was a life saver for us when our son had surgery. It's very clean, the staff was really nice, and they have a kitchen with plenty of basics to make food so you don't have to eat out. I do high suggest bringing your own pillows though!

From going with our older son and being so lost and confused never having been to Omaha before they were amazing and now years later they know our twins very well 🥰 10 outta 10!

This is a great place to stay if you have a child who is being seen at the local children's hospital. Often times there is food and drink for everyone in the kitchen. Coffee, water is always available. You have your own personal cubby and refrigerator in the kitchen area that only you can access. The rooms are clean but don't come with soaps (this isn't a hotel) and the pillows aren't great, bring your own! No food is allowed in the rooms themselves but the kitchen is close and it's fun to sit with other parents and kids. The playroom is fun for all the kids and my kids always look forward to going in there. There is also an outside play area and eating location. It gets hot sometimes but otherwise a welcome alternative to sitting in the cafeteria/kitchen. It is within walking distance to the hospital and they do offer shuttle services. The rooms we stay in have bathtubs, its great for small children. The staff is friendly and pretty good with kids themselves.

This is part of Children's Hospital. A hospitality house for a patient's family. We were there treating the families to a home cooked meal.

We have spent a lot of time here and always feel welcomed and at home. I'm sad to see they have had to turn the chapel and the movie room into offices.

This place is a godsend...when my daughter had her son and he spent 3 weeks in NICU, she was able to stay here to be able to visit her son. That was 5 years ago and now when she has to take her son to his doctor appointments she can stay the night if needed... this place is warm and welcoming... Everyone is so nice. Thank you!!

Love love love what they do. Overall appreciate the place. At the same time, the bed was so hard it hurt. And felt like we sinned when we asked for extra blankets and pillows.

It's good overall but my main problem with it is the wifi I'm 17 yrs old and yet I don't feel like it because I can't play online with my friends because of how restricting the wifi is. I wish that would get fixed. One last thing why is the wifi so restricted

Honestly such and amazing place for family that have their child in the hospital! I just wish their gym was open, it’s would really help out Loya of the adults to get some stress off their shoulders and help relax them! I’m sure most parents would get a good use out of the machine that are just sitting there. Really hope they do open it I’m sure we would all be really grateful for that extra resource!

I am so frustrated with them we have stayed there the past three years never once was told we live to close now three years later went to get a room and they call me back and tell me that we live 20 miles to short and cannot stay there I have never been so upset. We have always went up the night before so I don't have to wake my girls up so early
