I'll start by saying the staff was friendly, that and the location earns a star, otherwise I'd choose a zero if I could. Cons: 1. The air conditioner did not cool our entire trip during 100-105 heat index. Picture yourself on vacation, sweat rolling down your back in your hotel room, wishing your vacation was over already. 2. WiFi did not work our entire trip. Not one minute. 3. Bedding was not changed during our three day trip or the room cleaned. Trash piled up we bagged it for them. Nothing replaced, I had to ask for towels twice. 4. Bathroom door did not close, sliding barn door too small. You can see in/out. 5. No ventilation fan in bathroom. 6. Itchy sheets, must be a harsh detergent. 7. Something jammed into the electrical socket. Pictured below. 8. No gfci recepticals in the bathroom. 9. General run down and worn out feel, not really retro but rather not taken care of. 10. I came here to save money but tbh I wish I spent more somewhere else. Pros: 1. Withing walking distance to places with air-conditioning that actually works. (Not kidding) 2. Friendly staff, I get it, I'm not the boss at my job either. I do what I can but some situations just suck and you can't change them. 3. Lots of restaurants nearby. 4. Free parking. Side note throughly read all the reviews, the fake ones fooled me, don't be like me!

1 Star motel remodeled slightly to look like a 2 star hotel. It seems like they took a LOT of shortcuts while remodeling, in order to save money. CAUTION - Do not stay in room 303! The bathroom door does not close properly. You have no privacy in the bathroom if you are staying with someone else. The sink does not drain either. It seemed liked it was clogged up by hair from others who stayed there before. There was no toilet paper holder to put the toilet paper roll. We told management about the issues during our stay and nothing was done to fix it. There was also no ironing board or iron present in the room. On top of that, the elevator stopped working the day we were leaving, which meant we had to drag our suitcases down from the 3rd floor. The only positive about this hotel were the friendly and helpful front desk employees. But there's only so much they can do.

I stayed here in 2017. And in 2018. It was OK-ish back then, but then the price doubled, the place stayed the same, and service worsened. I still like the - bit scruffy - place, retro packaging and location but price/quality ratio has become questionable. Their own communications claim: new management, good things happening. I have not witnessed serious improvements to the building itself. It is the same. They added free - basic - breakfast I believe. OK. Cleaning is dysfunctional. I arrived and was assigned a room, it had not been cleaned up. I told them, they assigned me to another room, which had not been cleaned too. I took it after they cleaned it. The next day, they did not clean it. How difficult can this be? Staff did not show regrets over this, they seem somewhat disconnected. My bicycle - at 2 meters of the entrance - got willfully damaged. NOT the hotel to blame for! But, it seemed of no interest to them. There are some nice, slightly unconventional restaurants nearby. The Joslyn museum is very close. Many things are within walking distance. The place is nicely scruffy. I do not mind. I actually quite like its retro atmosphere and styling. The rooms are spacious. Location is very good. There is free parking. Bathrooms are old. So are floors and walls. Nothing renewed over decades I would guess. Still, the place is nice. If they would make an effort. I forgot something, and staff was helpful in getting it back. Kudos to Tammy, the manager. The current price is high. I might return and hope they will do something with the feedback. I am not alone in my criticism. Not sure they care. Let’s see.

The 402 hotel definitely went above and beyond to accommodate me coming from California. All the staff were very very friendly and made my stay much better then some of tye reviews here have said. I would definitely come back and stay here again. The morning on the go breakfast is perfect and the complimentary beverage for booking online was really cool. The staff here deserve more credit for the service they offer. Thank you for going above and beyond including a couple special requests once I left.

Horrible stay! Checked into our room and saw that there was dust everywhere. Turned on the A/C and did not work and was completely covered on the inside with dust. We did a walk around to make sure everything was okay, checked the fridge to find mold growing on the molding. Light fixtures had dirt and dead bugs in it. Will never recommend this place to anyone and personally it’s a health hazard for me as I have asthma. Stay away from this place. Don’t waste your money here.

THERE'S NO BATHROOM DOOR! Instead of installing a door on hinges for the bathrooms in each room, they hung this shoddily-crafted sliding barn door that doesn't lock and doesn't even fit over the door opening. The rest of the place is a mix of similar shoddy finish carpentry, with paint peeling off the walls, loose fixtures on the walls, and crumbling foam ceiling panels. Other than that, the staff is nice and they have complimentary breakfast and a complimentary beverage, which gives it at least one star.

This place is wonderful. The staff are so nice and friendly, the woman at the front desk even baked us homemade cookies! They were really good at making sure that we knew where to park so we didn't get a ticket and they always greeted us whenever we came in/out. The rooms were beautiful and clean. We also loved the artwork in our room:) It's a great spot downtown too, we were able to walk to the restaurant where we ate for dinner.

The place is run down. The first 2 rooms they tried to give me were not clean and the final room I was given did not have towels or pillow cases ready. Someone spent money to renovate a run down hotel but forgot that it needed to be maintained. Ghetto.
