From a maintenance and aesthetic perspective, Oak View Mall is a nice mall despite its lack of renovations. One of the most disappointing things for me to see is that they’ve shut off all of the neon despite leaving all of the tubes in tact. As a shopping center this place is past its prime and is about where Crossroads was in the early 2000s. Simon built this one way to close to Westroads, and it would appear that the success of nearby Village Point has put the squeeze on both Westroads and Oak View as VP now contains several national retailers that previously had homes elsewhere in Omaha.

One of the oldest mall in the city. It's a very big place but too few shops. Kids area is very small and doesn't have enough attractions. Food courts are mediocre. Overall it's an average mall. It needs to be improved a lot like the other popular mall in the town (West roads mall). The cleanliness of the mall is also on the average side.

This is a nice mall, I wouldn't say it the best but its not the worst either, but it near the worst. It felt way too empty in there, the neon was off, the kids play area was closed, and there was a lot of empty spaces. The carnival out in the parking lot is probably going to be a lot better than everything and anything inside the mall.

I liked the mall mainly because of its architecture. The mall is clean and tidy with lots of options for shopping. There’s a food court too. I went there mainly for Mac cosmetics which I didn’t find in any other malls. I went on Friday evening and it was not crowded. A nice place to hangout.

Seems this mall is about to shut down. Stopped by on a Saturday night, and the Southside of the mall didn't have any parking lights on. Probably because the anchor stores have left. The mall is up for sale again. It'll be interesting to see what will be done with it, IF they are able to sell it.

This mall is a very popular place. I am a member of the Nebraska Iowa model rail road club. We have a unit there that is our clubhouse. We are open to the public to come view our hobby and the many operating displays. Admission is always FREE next to Dillard's Dept. store. Hope to see you soon!

I have gone to this mall many times dating back to when it opened in 1991. It was GREAT in its heyday and sad to see that they are not trying to acquire more retailers. Indoor malls can still be viable especially when we have many more winter/fall months than summer months. Baby Boomers still love shopping at an actual store and having them in one mall can be fantastic. Mall owners near to gear their market to the people who USE them! Think about it!

I went to Longhorn for lunch and met up with several friends. Everyone had something different, but all commented that they were happy with their food. The service was excellent. They were not busy for lunch. Drove around the mall parking lot and it's not near what it once was.

We have a great time. There's not too many places left to eat there. Still a few places left to shop we always come when we hit Omaha!!

Sad demise of the American Mall. Three stars only because they don't draw many known stores anymore. It's like no man's land over there. But there are still some interesting little stores there and one of the biggest, and best shoe stores. I'm not sure why Wes Roads is doing well, and this Mall is dying like Cross Roads did. I really prefer the temperature controlled indoors compared to the trend to hit and cold shopping at the outdoor mega-strip malls. Dillards is a real plus here. Creative food court with local owners. Excellent jewelry repair shop; and those are hard to find. The anchor spots are trying to hang in there, and known brands are being replaced by homegrown, creative businesses. Best spa, best Banfield, Guitar Center, etc. Look around, you might find something interesting. One other thing to note; the management is missing out on a possible gold mine of space(wasted space). Weekend farmers market, both I door and outdoor, and/or seasonal flea market.

Not a lot of stores but good service and it has Dillards!!! This is a dying mall but I still really like it. Please bring in more stores and update the building and make sure to advertise. Advertising is investing in your own company!

I have many fond memories of this mall as I used to frequent this mall when I was younger. Back then, it was quite the place to be. The place was packed with people and there were plenty of shops to visit. Though as time went on, I started seeing stores go and the mall itself just seeming empty. The food court is still pretty neat but the mall lacks stores that I imagine a lot of younger people would probably be attracted to. Overall, the mall itself isn't necessarily bad. I just think that some renovations and some new stores will probably help bring back this mall to what I remember it to be!

One of those zombie malls where nobody understands how it's still open. Badly in need of renovation. Food court is almost gone, national chains are starting to disappear. I'm convinced no one actually works at JCPenny. But it is reasonably safe and you can find some decent bargains if you look.

The once "go to mall" is dead. There are not a ton of stores left and even the food court is slim pickings. The AC is always going out and tiles are missing from the floor. They need to clean it up and get more stores back.

Sad to see the decline of this mall. They still have a few good stores and is a great choice if you want to avoid crowds but options are limited. Still has a pretty nice food court selection though.

The Mall was clean and lots of different places to shop. There's just not very many people Shopping There for some reason. They have really good Chinese food there, And a couple Other restaurants that look good, you get a large portion. Very fair price, very good food.

Sad to see the mall so empty but happy that there are still a few places that I can go into the store and see, touch and even try things on instead of ordering online. If Lane Bryant, the Buckle, Spencer's or Bath and Body Works leave the mall, we will be upset.

The mall was nice and clean. JC Penney’s had a large selection. Good food court. I wish they would do more with this mall because the architecture is so beautiful!

I wish I could give this mall 5 stars, it is absolutely WONDERFUL. I love malls and this one is gorgeous. Sadly a lot of stores are closed and walking around feels like a ghost town. It was really sad seeing the kids play area completely empty with no open stores open around it.

I'm quite sad this place has been fairly dead in regards to shops. However, I still really enjoy going to browsing and grab a bite! There's quite a few places I've been to that match that delicious Teriyaki Chicken from Sarku Japan! I highly recommend it.

What was the finest mall in Omaha has dwindled to become another struggling shopping center. The golden age of malls has long surpassed and now represents a shell of their once dominating shopping super centers. This one still has a couple anchor stores; however, the common chain stores that once filled every available box are fewer. This is still a nice mall and I hope there is a day when the enjoyment of going to the mall grows once again.

Oakview mall is awesome!! I love Dillard's & JC Penney & Earthbound is my favorite store. The mall does need better lighting out in the parking area. It's so dark & I pray for the safety of employees who close & shoppers. This mall is my personal favorite in Omaha for shopping because it has clothe for the whole family & a nice food court. Plus Kohl's is nearby & the parking lot is set up great with lots of entrances to stores & 2 main entrances with restrooms when you walk in or walk out. I've noticed that this mall doesn't have many police officers for safety in the main area of mall which could be due to location. I feel having officers onsight give shoppers a sense of security & safety. I don't shop at night here because of the parking outside isn't well lit so maybe there's more security that I don't know about at that time of day. Overall I think this mall is an excellent place for families & a safe place. Thankful the oakview mall is still open after all these years & is a great place with awesome stores & employees.

Great Mall for shopping and hanging out with family. Nice food court with Delicious Pizza 🍕 at the corner. Japanese food, Indian & Mexican 🌮🌯 food. Very nice and safe playground for kids at the lower level.

I've certainly seen worse, but this mall is definitely struggling. Many empty lots and not very lively. Despite that, there is still a decent selection of shops, but I would rather go to Westroads.

  • 5/5 Michelle D. 1 year ago on Google
I love going to Oakview. It is a dying mall but they have earthbound, torrid and and less people. Their staff is also more friendly than most place but that could be because they are less busy.

  • 1/5 Andrew L. 11 months ago on Google
This mall is a shadow of its former self. I used to work nearby and would visit almost daily. Just walking around the other day it looks like many shops are just closed In the food court has been decimated.

  • 2/5 Eleanor R. 10 months ago on Google
My experience at Oak View Mall was quite unsatisfactory. The prices were too high and the selection of stores was limited. The layout of the mall was confusing and I had difficulty finding what I needed. The customer service was also below average and the staff was not helpful.

This mall has gone way downhill. There are practically no stores or restaurants left in this place. It looks just as bad as Crossroads Mall did before they demolished it.

  • 3/5 Sam S. 8 months ago on Google
I went to Oak View Mall a few times in the 90's and once again in 2001. It wasn't such a bad place. Sorry to see it's gone downhill in the last few years or so. Especially since the lockdown in 2020. This mall was a little too small. Maybe if JCPenney's and Sears had their own wings leading to them like Dillard's and Younker's did, it might have done a little better.

  • 2/5 CJ M. 8 months ago on Google
Mall has really went downhill. There are hardly any stores left in there. The mall you can tell is in disrepair and is not taken care of whatsoever. There was about three stores that I went into that the AC was not working and it was hotter than hell in the stores. I didn't even shop and I'm I just turned around and walked back out. Soon this will be another mall that will be boarded up and abandoned just like all of the other big malls around.

Everyone says it's dying and yes it's true not alot of stores but if you wanna grab something to eat and vibe in a mall without alot of people this is it. Sadly malls aren't part of the future so enjoy them while they are still around .

Great mall with great places. A few things need touched up, but that doesn't impact the experience. Food court has a nice variety and there are things for everyone from every walk of life here. Would be cool if the neon Food Court sign still lit up. It was dark outside and it would really make the food court feel more vibrant since there was no natural light coming in.

It is sad how the American mall has fallen apart. This used to be a happening place but it's falling into disrepair and businesses are moving out on a regular basis. There are only 2 anchor stores left with JC Penney and Dillard's. You don't see many people in this mall at all including mall mowalkers and the people that you do they aren't always the most savory of characters. I give this mall 2 more years and they will close it up like every other mall in America.
