This is a statue in the vibrant city of Basra. Its story is strange and most of us do not know it...and perhaps the people of Basra itself do not know it because it did not receive the appropriate media space. Read and consider the story of this monument that commemorates virtue and chastity. It is the monument of the primary school teacher, the woman Khalida... from Basra Governorate... She was driving her car in one of the streets and a car bomb exploded near her, causing her car to catch fire... She came out with fire in her clothes... She noticed herself without clothes or anything. There was something to cover herself with... So she went back and got into her burning car and closed the door on herself... She did not accept anyone seeing her body and revealing her cover... A policeman came wanting to save her... He found her dead and her body burned... The people of Basra made this statue for her in honor of her chastity and modesty... but he did not get the chance to... The media, so I hope to be one of those who introduce people to this strange story of this chaste, visual Iraqi woman...

“The team decided to highlight martyrdom and its sublime meanings, so it decorated the monument of the martyr of honor and chastity, Khaleda Turki Omran, and read Surat Al-Fatihah for her soul and the souls of all Iraqi martyrs, stressing that “what they offered was considered a simple thing compared to the sacrifices the martyrs made to the homeland.” It is noteworthy that the martyr Khaleda Turki Omran, a teacher at Bint Al-Huda Girls School, was killed as a result of the suicide bombing that occurred near Al-Khora intersection on April 4, 2016, leaving 4 martyrs and 14 wounded.

The Chastity Monument was erected to commemorate the martyr Al-Afifi, Khaleda Turki Omran, when she was martyred in a terrorist accident due to the detonation of a car bomb by an Al-Qaeda suicide bomber in the middle of the street. The bombing then caused a number of martyrs and wounded, and among the martyrs was the teacher Khaleda Turki, who was in one of the taxis that was vandalized as a result of the explosion. The explosion led to her burning, so she refused to get out of the burning car because her clothes were torn in the explosion, so she chose to die as a martyr rather than get out of the burning car naked.

The Chastity Monument to the honorable martyr and teacher, Set Khalida Umm Montazer, is located in Al-Tayaran Square at the end of Al-Saadi Street, near Al-Baradiya Bridge, near the Basra Retirement Department on Al-Wafoud Street, and near the Minawi Pasha Hotel. The story of the chastity monument to the martyr: In Basra, there was a virtuous woman who worked as a teacher at Bint Al-Huda School for Girls. Her name is Khaleda Turki Imran (Umm Muntazer). She was driving her car to her workplace on April 4, 2016, and as soon as she stopped, a car bomb exploded near her. Her car caught fire. So she got out of the car and her body was engulfed in flames. When she saw that the fire had burned her clothes, she was overcome with shame and jealousy. She did not want her body to be exposed in front of people. So she ran back to her car, which was burning with fire. She opened the door and sat in it. Someone shouted at her. The police officers, while he was crying, come out. I am like your brother. I will cover you with my shirt, but she refused... and preferred to burn her body with fire... rather than for people to see it... The Iraqis called her a martyr of chastity and honor and erected a memorial for her commemorating her memory in Al-Tayaran Square in Basra... where they preserved her burned car. They turned her into a statue.

I took this photo while I was in the car, recalling the story of this monument The story of the Basra woman (Khaleda Turki Omran), who preferred to burn and die in her burning car rather than go out to the people at the time of the explosion with her clothes burned.

It was recently established in Basra Governorate after the events of the terrorist bombing that occurred during the afternoon of the month of Ramadan, in which a group of innocent people were killed, led by the professor for whom the monument was established. She was burned while inside her car, and when she got out, she found her clothes torn as a result of the fire, so she preferred to return to her car and die in it instead of exposing her body to people. May God have mercy on the martyrs of Iraq.
