A beautiful place located in the midst of beautiful Basra City. The best time to spend time here is during the evening, many activities going on along with food stalls and snacks. Great atmosphere and safe for children and families. Some parts along the corniche has rides for the kids, lots of places to sit and the walking area is spacious so it doesn't seem crowded.

It is a newly rehabilitated city walk by the Shatt Al-Arab river. It is nice to walk during the night and the view is nice, it is relatively short. I recommend going there and walking while visiting Basra city. The families are usually coming here in groups. There are many small shops on the sidewalk that you can buy food and drinks, tea, juice and many more, it was fun overall.

I had the pleasure of exploring the magnificent Shatt Al Arab river in 2017 and it was an experience that left me in awe of its beauty and historical significance. This majestic river offers a unique and enchanting journey for anyone seeking a connection with nature and an appreciation for rich cultural heritage. One of the most striking aspects of Shatt Al Arab is the captivating play of colors that adorn its surface. The blue hues of the sky reflecting on the river create a mesmerizing spectacle, especially during the November to February period. The tranquil waters, rippling gently in harmony with the wind, provide a serene ambiance that is perfect for contemplation and relaxation. It is truly a sight to behold, and the scenic beauty of Shatt Al Arab is bound to captivate visitors. Apart from its natural allure, Shatt Al Arab is also steeped in history and culture. It has played a significant role in the development of the civilizations that thrived along its banks. As you venture along the river, you'll encounter remnants of ancient civilizations, such as archaeological sites and historical landmarks. These cultural treasures offer a glimpse into the past and serve as a testament to the region's rich and diverse heritage. During my visit, I was fortunate to meet some of the locals who reside near Shatt Al Arab. I found them to be warm, friendly, and proud of their connection to the river and its surrounding areas. Their hospitality and willingness to share stories and traditions added an extra layer of authenticity to my experience. Engaging with them allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of the significance of Shatt Al Arab to the local communities and their way of life. One aspect that slightly impacted my visit was the occasional complaints from locals about certain challenges they face. Issues such as environmental concerns and access to resources can be a topic of discussion among some residents. While these conversations shed light on the realities of the region, they did not overshadow the overall joy and appreciation that people have for the river. It is important to approach these discussions with empathy and an understanding of the local context. In conclusion, Shatt Al Arab is a remarkable river that offers a unique blend of natural beauty and cultural heritage. From the captivating reflections on its surface to the warm hospitality of the local communities, there is much to be discovered and appreciated. Whether you are a nature enthusiast, a history buff, or simply seeking a serene escape, Shatt Al Arab promises an unforgettable experience. Immerse yourself in its splendor, embrace the rich tapestry of its past, and let the wonders of Shatt Al Arab leave a lasting impression on your soul.

I think the Basra Corniche has recently been reconstructed and it looks good. I think because of the decrease in the water level of the Shatt al-Arab, I did not see any giant ship as it was before. Basra looks like a port that is distinguished from the upscale Iraqi cities. What is nice is that there are yachts that give quick tours to visitors at low prices.

The place has been renovated, there is a symphony fountain now. It's a nice place to walk and hang out with friends or family. it's on the river bank and you can take a ride on the boat. We just need to encourage the visitors to keep the place clean.
