What a place this a must beer lover, it’s a very nice place to get nice beers in Brugges. Obviously the place is underground and the place is awesome. Recommend 100%

Bad experience, bartender wasn’t nice, we asked for some beer recommendations and he was very mean, he didn’t even wanted to talk to us. The place is beautiful, the beers are great, the service horrible. Just be prepared to get mean service.

It's a crypt style bar with a cracking atmosphere & one of the largest selection of beers I've seen. It gets very busy, so be prepared to queue at certain times. You'll need to peruse the selection of beers in 'the folder' in addition to those on the counter. A must visit place for any beer connoisseur.

One of the best Beer places in Bruges, it is in an 800 year old cellar which looks like a dungeon. They have amazing collection of local and international beers as well as a bunch of Trappist beers. We were able to find one of the rarest Trappist beer “Trappist Westvleteren” in this place, They serve beer flights as well if you want to try a variety of beers. I would highly recommend the Olives here, which are freshly pickled and so delicious. A must go to place if you are in Bruges even for a few hours, and you will thank me for it.

I went yesterday evening (last day since they're closing for the summer) and sat at the bar. There you can keep a tab otherwise you need to order, pay and they serve you at your table. There's a minimum of €10 to pay by card. It was a wonderful experience and I had a great time: tried several Belgian beers and made some friends. I will try to come back in winter.

Must-try if you love beer with enough variety to turn anyone into a beer lover. Location is so fun and unique. Bartender gave helpful recommendations. Was a little stuffy but they had fans running.

If you like to try all kinds of Belgian beers in a nice place, with a good atmosphere and good music, this is the place you are looking for. During the week it is much quieter and you can enjoy it more, but if what you are looking for is the opposite, on Friday or Saturday you will find it. If you go to Bruges, you have to make a stop at Le Trappiste.

Our go to bar in Belgium. Lovely atmosphere in this cellar bar, c20 beers on tap (including Chimay Bleu in ‘season’) and 100s more on tap. Vinyl nights.

Best bar in town! They have a large selection of Belgium beer on draft and bottles. It's not a restaurant but you can get a portion of Belgium cheese and salami that's delicious! It's our favorite!!!

Very authentic and atmospheric cellar bar in the heart of Brugge old town. Plenty of beers on the menu to choose from, and lots of seating, even on a busy night. Bar service was quick and friendly. One of the coolest places to have some evening beers in Europe!

Unique Belgian beer experience. Huge menu with very high valued flights available. Musky smell due to the lack of ventilation somewhat interferes with the tasting experience. Helpful and friendly staff. Loud jazz and special menu.

A must-stop in Bruges. Maybe my favourite bar. The tasting paddle was great (€14). We had one each, though most shared 🤣 the nachos were really good too, perfect accompaniment for the huge variety of beers! Quite big too, we didn’t struggle to find a table on a Thursday evening in April. Definitely one for the list!

This is a must-see. Beautiful, vaulted, brick cellar tavern. Long list of trappist beers, as well as lambic, gueze, kreik, and many others. Friendly owners and staff. Chill music.

🍻Unique tavern with a cool atmosphere...enter by going down some winding stairs to the dark bar with various nooks to sit and sip any number of brews from their extensive menu, each served in specialized glasses and mugs for the different types of beer. We sampled many!!

Crazy beer selection, but the staff was great at making recommendations. Met great folks at our shared table. Visit if you can!

Great basement pub with a lovely vaulted brick ceiling. Does not open until 5pm but stays open fairly late. Good selection of Belgian beer on draft (20+) and plenty more in bottles.

Simply adore this place, we last visited around 9 years ago and it hasn't lost any of it's charm or brilliance. The team are fab, the beer top notch and the atmosphere lovely. We were so glad to come back and feel like we had never left!

My most favorite bar ever. We stumbled on Le Trappiste a few years ago and we’re completely in love. The architecture is beyond belief…100 on atmosphere, and you of course have amazing Belgian beers to drink while enjoying it all. Highly recommend.

Really cool place with so many beer choices that the menu come as a big folder ! Good music, friendly staff, cool decorations, games available (baby-foot,…) We went early so it was not crowded but I can imagine big nights are happening there !

Wonderful place with a great selection. Great classic rock in the background, fun bartenders who know their stuff. Foosball and darts. Beautiful historical architecture (look at the ceilings and walls!). Highly recommended for anyone who likes beer.

One of the best beer bars I have ever visited. The decor and location are fun. The tap and bottle list are legendary. The bartender (owner?) is extremely knowledgeable in his craft and loves to talk shop. He is very friendly and welcoming and passionate about what he does.

Very hot in August. Unfortunately there is no air conditioning. Very interesting place to visit. Great selection of beers, but the staff should care more about the customers...

A must see for beer lovers in Belgium! 13th century basement bar that was rediscovered in 1974. Originally it was a cooperage which is why you find beer barrels throughout for tables. The staff is friendly and the jazz vibe is very chill.

Great bar, a place for beer lovers. The beer selection is great, the atmosphere is so cool and even though it was busy it was easy to grab a table. Located in an old cellar, you take a few steps down and you feel like you've traveled back in time.

We had really looked forward to Le Trappiste. The place is indeed atmospheric. It should be great. Unfortunately the service was surly and sour, which detracts a bit from the experience. We asked a couple of simple questions to the bartender. Not getting anything but a shrug, our little group went and ordered some nice beers with a different barman. Unfortunately, this lemon-faced young man also looked ready to keel over of boredom. My wife had had enough of beer for the day so we ordered her a ginger ale (the horror). This elicited a curly-lipped sneer. Atmosphere is not just a place. There a lot of choices in lovely Brugge. This is one I won't make again. Edited: The response is as predictable as it is comic. I have no doubt other people leave happy. From what I can glean from the quite numerous negative reviews, there are also a fair number who don't, and for largely similar reasons. The beer is excellent but that was not really my point. Anyway, I will continuing hoisting top Belgian beers. Plenty of happy, friendly places for that in Brugge.

I know it’s an iconic beer bar of the city but it feels a bit outdated, and not in the way that an old cellar should be. An amazing selection of beer but overall the place needs an overhaul.

Great Beer selection! Great atmosphere. Worth a few hours 😉

Cool place, beer cellar. Service was a bit odd (with a grumpy old bar tender) as one has to order and pay with one person and the other staff member makes the drinks. Fun part is that one can choose a vinyl record to be played in the bar.

Fantastic ambiance and beers! Edit: came back after 3 months and refused entrance because it was "full". We saw people walking out but the waiter still wouldn't let us in. The personnel is somewhat rude overall.

👍👍 This place is a beer lover’s paradise. Just tell the bar tender what types of beer you like and they’ll offer up a selection of rare or popular beers to try. We went here three times while we stayed in Bruges.
