The pizza was really good if you like thin crust pizza you will love this place. We got the Buffalo chicken wings, Buffalo pizza, and the Apple pie. Loved all of them.

Awesome n light pies. One of the best I've had in a while. Walk in grab a seat n order. We tried the real , the white claw and spinach in red sauce. I feel the spinach was a little too much but overall the thinnest of pies and just juicy overall.

The pizza was pretty good and the wings were just as good! Me and my friends even took orders to go after we ate a full meal. We paid about $60 for 3 people. 2 pizzas, 1 order of wings, and a pitcher of beer.

The pizza tastes great and is always made fresh. The style of pizza has a thinner type of crust so you'll end up eating more than you might usually eat somewhere else. If thin crust isn't your style, this isn't your place. The wings also taste good. Good amount of crisp and soaked in buffalo sauce. The place can be pretty pricey though and they're consistently understaffed on weekends. There's only ever two.. maybe three, waiters walking around and it's clear they're always busy. With that being said though, they still do a great job. You'll just end up waiting a bit longer for some things. Some dishes seem to be over priced for what they are... But in the pizza department, prices are totally fine.

More hype than taste; the Pizza and Food here are "OK", nothing exceptional. The dining experience is dark, dingy, and cluttered. The parking is frustrating! If you must eat here, the best approach is take out on a slow weekday, avoid the weekends.

I have always wanted to try Star Tavern. I happened to be in the area so finally was able to. Parking was easy with the restaurant having their own lot. It was a busy Sunday during football season but we were seated right away. Service was fast and friendly. My daughter and I split a Pesto pizza. Pesto, tomato sauce, and mozzarella. They only serve one size of pizza. A person can definitely finish one on their own but the split was a perfect amount for a small lunch. Thin with a slight crisp and not greasy. The crust had a good crunch. Easily one of the best pizzas I have had in NJ. If bar pies are your thing you should give it a try. I will be back.

I took my family to the famous pizzeria in NJ, and like people say, it’s so worth it. I love the thin crust and its well balanced texture and flavor of the crust itself. Better, harmonious flavors of whichever you prefer to add on top will be elevated. Oh I almost forgot, but buffalo chickens are so fresh and well served.

Long time favorite since I was a kid. Dining in frequently and more takeout than I can remember. We had just about everything on the menu many times over, but at one point the quality of the pizza and the food seem to have dropped off. For a while we stopped eating there after giving them several chances. We were invited to dine by friends who had moved out of the area but still frequented this famed Pizzeria. Loved by Little League, softball, bowling teams and others, we were happily surprised that the place was still booming and the food was back up to the quality that we had known for so long.

Overhyped and over priced. I ordered because a group of people from my job were ordering out for lunch. We heard that they were really good. I ordered a shrimp Ceasar salad that came with three small shrimp on it for $14.00+. Then they don’t deliver and they forgot to put my salad in the bag for the Togo order. I had to drive all the way back to get the salad and I was very disappointed with the salad once I did get it. I am also pregnant so you know how pregnant people don’t play about their food. This ruined my experience and I never want to eat here again.

Great pizza. Great atmosphere. Great bartender. Great experience all around. The crust had a hard time withstanding the weight of the "old school everything" but it was still delicious. I ordered the 14 inch and had to stop myself from eating the whole thing. Delicious!

Good pizza, though a little messy. Would go back, only if in area. Need to order well done next time. Mussels are good, bread would go nice with it. Nice cold beer.

When I lived in New Jersey this was a regular visit. Now it's a treat; I'm happy to report it's still as excellent as ever. It's not fancy - but the pizza is an art. The rest of the food menu is excellent too - don't sleep on it. Get a pitcher of Sierra Nevada, order a few thin crust pies, and enjoy.

We absolutely love star tavern! It's one of the best pizzas around, the thinnest crust you could possibly imagine. Always consistent, cooked to perfection and the service is wonderful. The restaurant is very clean too. It's been a staple for us for many many years.

This place was on previous lists of "must have pizza". We walked in during prime time on a Friday night, waited probably 20 min or so. We asked for well done, did NOT get well done. The flavor and topping combo were great, I feel like it was a let down only bc it wasn't well done....lightly cooked made it seem like everyone else's pizza, not "must have pizza". This time, the buffalo wings were better than the pizza . Would try again but will make more of a demand next time🤷....pictured is pepperoni pie and eggplant/ garlic/ ricotta pie

The gold standard for NJ pizza. Kevin is an excellent server. So friendly and helpful. We just moved back from having been gone for nearly 30 years. Not only was the pizza as good as I remember....it was better. But everything here is great. 6 stars for The Star!

Burnt crust raw dough, small, soggy greasy and floppy. I was expecting so much better. On the positive side the pepperoni and sauce were very tasty. Restaurant and bar were poppin this place is obviously very popular. I am guessing mine was just cooked poorly. Looking at the recent reviews seems like everybody's was cooked poorly. Disappointing.

Great food and service. Had calamari which was very light and not greasy at all, accompanied with marinara sauce. Did a 1/2 roni and 1/2 sausage pie.. delicious, thin crust and great cheese and tomato flavor. Take out is nice, but eating in the dining room you really get the best flavor, pies right out of the oven are always best.

So, prior to pandemic, I always looked forward to Star Tavern…always reminds me of a typical upstate NY bar/grill where I grew up. This is my first trip there post pandemic and WOW was it a disappointment! I ordered a plain cheese pizza and 1 order of mozzarella sticks to go…guess how much??!! $28.00!! Yep!! I got innmy car starving, cause I had to wait so long to get my food,I decided to eat the mozzarella sticks-they wee cold-I literally just took them ft inside out to my car! The pizza, had a bite when I got home, it was just so so. What tge heck happened?? Thus place went from good food, good value and good service to bad, bad and badder(is there such a word). Not on the recommend list …

Apparently a very popular restaurant in the area as their parking lot was full, but we were fortunate to find a table to sit out. Great ambience with cool music playing where you can watch some of the TVs. My lasagna was to die for and my wife absolutely loved her salad will definitely come back on in the area again.

I recently had a good time at this casual pizza bar with my friends , and I thought I'd share my experience! The pizzas here are decent, not mind-blowing but satisfying for a casual meal. They offer a variety of toppings, so there's something for everyone. Now, let's talk about the chicken wings – they're a must-try! They were crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, with just the right amount of flavor and heat. We couldn't get enough of them, and they're definitely a highlight of the menu. If you're looking for something lighter, they also have salads. They're fresh and a good option if you want to balance out your meal with some greens. Plus, it's nice to have that option for those days when you want to be a bit healthier. And of course, what's a pizza bar without beer? They have a decent selection of brews to choose from, which pairs perfectly with the casual, relaxed atmosphere of the place. It's a family-friendly spot, so it's great for a laid-back night out with loved ones. The service was friendly and attentive, which added to the overall positive experience. Prices were reasonable too, making it an affordable choice for a casual meal with family or friends. In summary, if you're in the mood for some decent pizza, fantastic chicken wings, a salad option, and a cold beer in a casual, family-friendly setting, this pizza bar is worth a visit. It won't disappoint if you're looking for a relaxed and enjoyable dining experience. 🙂🍕🍺🍻😀

This pizza is to die for! Delicious thin crust and baked to perfection! It’s a bit pricey, but it’s well worth it. You get what you pay for and you get quality every time! If you never had Star Pizza you are missing out! It’s a must! Especially if you live in the area. People travel from all over just to have the Star Tavern pizza experience!

Great service. Kevin was amazing. Wings and salads were great. Only giving 4 stars because the Pizza has potential to be great. My only complaint was the amount of salt used in the sauce. Once they cut down on that, we are good to go! Based on the level of service provided alone, I will be back.

By far the best pizza in NJ! I grew up in this place. Every Sat we would go since I was a kid in the 70's, back then they had a shuffleboard which I loved. The owner's Grandmother use to stand on a wooden crate to stir her delicious gravy! Yeah I said it, GRAVY!! BEST PIZZA EVER!!!! #Goodoledays

This pizza parlor is one of New Jerseys hidden treasures. If you like thin crust pizzas and a family oriented environment they are the best. If you're in a group or celebrating a special event the pies will go fast so be prepared to order alot of them. Also the line might be out the door but the food is authentic so it will definitely be worth the wait, and you will definitely make some great memories. They have plaques all over the wall for their awards which makes this spot an absolute "must try" if you like Italian Food/Pizza/Wings. Their wine and beer lists are equally satisfying, so you should have no problem finding something for your palate.

I love their pizza! They have a variety of toppings and sauces to choose from, and the crust is always crispy. The cheese is melted perfectly, and the pizza is hot and fresh. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the prices are reasonable. The only downside is that it can be busy on weekends, so you might have to wait a while for your order if dinning , so I recommend ordering online or calling ahead if you can. Otherwise, it’s worth the wait. This is one of the best pizza places in town, and I highly recommend it.

This is by far the best Pizza in Jersey and personally my favorite Pizza joint. I have been going here for 15 years and it never disappoints. The Margarita is simply perfect. I have lived in Brooklyn and Manhattan too and while there is amazing pizza there, nothing compares to Star Tavern.

  • 5/5 steve k. 5 months ago on Google
This is my first time to Stars tavern, and I loved it! I got the whole wheat pizza with all the vegetable toppings. The crust was thin and crunchy. The cheese and sauce were amazingly fresh. The vegetables were also all fresh, nothing canned. Prices were also reasonable for a small personal pizza. Definitely recommend if you are in the Orange area.

If your a fan of burnt crust pizza, Star taverns your place. Not well done… we’re talking straight asphalt black burnt. So black it’s almost purple if the light hits right. So black the police followed me for 3 blocks. Thought it was just a one time thing but this is the 3rd time. Guess it’s the new wave. Still tastes good just avoid the crust.

  • 4/5 DEANNE T. 1 year ago on Google
The mozzarella sticks are really good and the sangria was tasty the only problem was that they only sold it by the glass 🍷 you could not get a pitcher of it.... They also bottles🍾 of wine and had a full bar. When it comes to the Pizza 🍕 I'll just say that it has a good taste the crust was very very thin and for some reason I was positive that the crust would have cracked when you folded it... But it didn't, what I remember most was saying to myself when the pizza arrived at the table was that this pizza is kinda small for the price and the 4 slices I ate was literary like eating 2 slices. NO TO GO BOX HERE!!😤

The thin crispy crust pizza’s we ordered was delicious but definitely expensive. The restaurant atmosphere was friendly but as usual crowded. Finally we loved the Friday evening in Star Tavern. By the way this was our third visit there. Must try classic cheese and white clam pizza!!

Saw an ad.. So i went. Haven't been since the pandemic 😱 The waitress seemed bothered. Maybe she was having a bad day. 🤪No one at the door. Place was packed that was cool. Chicken Wings n Pizza delish. Calamari 👎bought Mac N Cheese to go and my daughter loved. I gave it a 7.

  • 5/5 Rick S. 1 year ago on Google
Place was poppin. Plenty of seats, but every seat was filled on a HOT Friday afternoon. They rotate people out fast enough, though, because the pies come out pretty quickly, so there was essentially no wait time. We were a party of 10...walked in during a busy time, were seated within minutes. The pizzas came out fast. The bar was a little slow. I feel they could've used an extra hand or two (appeared to only have two bartenders at the time). The entire staff was very friendly. They work as a team to give you a great experience. Very thin, delicious bar pies. I'm not sure if I'd like them takeout, but they were one of the best in-house eating pies I've ever had. The wings were awesome, too. Decent amount of parking in their lot. But if you can't find a spot in their lot, they have secondary parking right around the corner in a second lot. 10/10 would recommend

  • 5/5 Jeremy W. 11 months ago on Google
Staff was super awesome. The whole block smells like pizza. Extra parking out back. Got a carry out pepperoni pizza and ravioli . They threw in garlic bread. It was all under 30 dollars. And absolutely beautiful.

  • 5/5 B 3 years ago on Google
Believe the hype. The best bar pie I've had anywhere, let alone New Jersey. My personal favorite is the 3-cheese pizza with red sauce and the meatball topping - they shave thin strips of meatball onto the pie, and it is just incredible. Be aware that they are typically very busy, especially nights and weekends, so order 45 to an hour before you want the pizza. If I had one complaint, it's that I always ask for the pizza slightly burnt and I've yet to get it that way; my guess is they're very busy and don't have the time. Easy enough to fix in the toaster oven.

  • 2/5 Neil B. 3 years ago on Google
I agree with other reviewers that their thin crust is just as good as it has ever been, however I have had their veggie pizza and white clam pizza and in both instances I was disappointed. Especially with the white clam pizza as I had it 50 years ago and it definitely is not the same. 1st there were very few clams on the pie and 2nd they use to have very heavy garlic on it and that area was very lacking, 3rd they use to use a really great oil on it which was the secrete that brought out the flavor of the garlic. All toll it left me completely flat except for the crust. The veggie pizza not what they call their veggie pie as I had mine with eggplant, mushrooms, onion, green peppers and garlic as also a big let down and for $27 I was expecting something much better. They were once a great institution and that is now a by-gone era. Will not be going back to have more disappointments. It is a shame as I was one of the best I have ever eaten and I gave them two tries to get it right and they failed both times. Very sorry to say.

Overrated pizza. First time eating a pizza from Star in many many years. Very disappointed. Presentation is everything...looks alone I was turned off by the looks. Taste was OK, but I've had frozen pizza's that tasted better.

Star Tavern is a household name in North Jersey. If there’s anything this place has taught me it’s that the best pizza is served on paper plates. Their onion blossom is also a crowd pleaser.
