    I GIVE THIS CAFE RIO 0 STARS!!! We have visited there on many occasions over the past few years and each experience has become progressively worse.This week I was given a $10 off coupon in their app. So tonight when we went to dine there, we ordered our food, and when we went to check out they said the coupon wasn't working and we couldn't use it. It was not expired. The young man did not even try to get help until I said the whole reason we came here tonight was because we had a coupon. He still wasn't going to do anything about it, so we said we were leaving. He then went to get some help, all while people in back of us were waiting in line for at least 10-15 minutes. So while he talked it over with a coworker, the lady behind us got fed up and put cash on the counter and left. He then charged my card a second time, and we thought it worked. We went to sit down and he came over to us and said they still couldn't get it to go through with the discount. We went back up to the counter and waited another 10 minutes while our food was getting cold while they tried to solve the problem again. He didn't even notice as we walked out, and we won't be going back. Horrible customer service! Inept, unfriendly, unapologetic, to us or the other customers. Why not get a manager to just take $10 off? or don't charge us for one of the meals? About a month previous to this, a similar thing happened with trying to use the Cafe Rio cash we had earned. When I tried to use it, he said he couldn't get it to work, and we couldn't use it. That time we shrugged it off and paid for it. Never again. There are many other good Mexican restaurants nearby and there's no reason to subject myself or yourself to this. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!

    Great Staff and Customer service! I ordered online and in-store and both services were great! The app works well and it is easy to use. I always get my food quick and employees always get me the best service ever. I totally recommend this Cafe Rio at Orem. Also, the environment is very good to have a great time with family members, friends or a date.

    We had a fine experience here. It was lunch time on a week day. There was no line. But still plenty of people there. This Cafe Rio had a large dining area.

    ADDED EDIT - FOUND HAIRS IN MY FOOD HALFWAY THROUGH. PICTURES ATTACHED. i got it remade free of charge because EW. the woman next to the tortilla pressing lady was on her nasty phone while wearing gloves. she then returned to handling food/food prep without changing gloves. absolutely disgusting.

    I love Cafe Rio but I don’t know what it is with this location, it always disappoints me. I ordered this weekend in person and I got skipped. They forgot my order. The food was below average. I got a sweet pork salad and it was soggy. I would like to say this was a one time occurrence but I feel like the last year I’ve been to this Cafe Rio, the quality of the food is subpar. Save yourself the time and go to another location. I keep telling myself that and still have not done it. I think this weekend was the last straw.

    Inflation hitting hard... The portions here are getting smaller and smaller everytime i come. Getting a tostada used to feel like an actual meal but this time i came i got about 4 strips of grilled chicken (which i would have gotten a picture before the lettuce was added looked like a kids chicken taco) and a tiny amount of lettuce (in the picture i moved the lettuce to the side to find the chicken). I asked the server why she was giving me so little chicken and she said that if i wanted more i needed to pay extra, i told her that she was giving me a really small amount and that usually you get a decent portion and she simply turned around and put it in the rotating oven, ignored me and went to the next customer. I would usually say maybe it only happened to me but the person behind me also complained about how little guacamole they had given him and lettuce. The one that just opened on Vineyard is still giving good portions probably because they just opened, or simply take your business somewhere else and get your moneys worth, paying $11 for a tostada is not worth it. This place seems to be going downhill.

    Lucky for them my pregnant wife craves it. Placed an order a few weeks ago - one entre was missing and I ordered a second protein (and paid for the extra) in mine and never got it. I would check for order accuracy but I can't just stand there cutting into burritos :|. Trying to talk the wife into switching to Costa Vida. Update 3/19/22. We ordered tonight- chicken burrito + steak. Only steak on it. Quit freaking charging me for extras you don't give me. After this pregnancy I'm only going to Costa Vida, I'm upset but smart enough to not go against the cravings of a pregnant wife. Update 8/15/22 they reached out and gave me like $10 for one of the issues and nothing for the other- in other news we've been to Costa Vida like 5 times and guess how many orders they've messed up on? ZERO.

    I ordered chips and queso through Doordash and they sent me salsa topped with cold cheese?? It was evening time so they may have run out, but definitely just refund me instead of playing around in the kitchen.

    Went to lunch, saw the pictures with the menus. The Nachos looked great. So I ordered the Nachos. They forgot the cheese. I told the cashier, that the order was not right. He did not care. I did not want to make a scene, I stood in line for 1/2 hour..... fine I'll eat warm chips. So many people go to this location, they don't have to care about customers anymore. Sad... really you think selling Nachos without cheese is ok?

    They are a good restaurant chain with great food. Everything works great in person. They have a happy and friendly staff. They make great food. Cafe Rio in general has an Achilles heel right now, which is their mobile app. Order in person. The mobile app is known to have failures. I tried and failed to order 8 times (all 8 charged my credit card and the app said it was my credit cards fault), and had to call their customer service to fix it.

    After only ever getting their fire-grilled steak, salmon, or chicken burrito for quite some time, I thought I'd try something new. I got their Sweet Pork Barbacoa tacos, and was pleasantly surprised. The pork was very sweet and had a little tang to it. It was dripping in juice and flavour, which combined with the freshly pressed flour tortilla perfectly. Aside from the clump of fat I got in my final bite, I enjoyed the whole thing.

    I hardly ever leave a review, but after the experience last night at the Orem location, I felt I needed to. I first called the location yesterday afternoon to ask them specifically if they have coconut shrimp "yes we do" so I took some friends last night raving about the shrimp. Went to order it and they said they don't have it, we're out. So we ordered the other items. Serving up our food with such haste, they slopped sour cream on top of the rice and beans..not the tacos. My friend couldn't even eat her food because the guacamole was too spicy! The service was horrible, and each worker had a terrible attitude! Won't be back to Cafe Rio.

    Food was decent and the restaurant was clean. The service was not as good. The lady running the register was very nice but the lady making our food did not want to be at work and she was very rude.

    I did an online order for pickup. I showed up when it was supposed to be ready and it wasn't. About 5-10 minutes later, they put it on the counter. The order was missing the chips and queso. I tried to get the attention of one of the many employees as I stood there. Finally a lady came over so I pointed at the receipt and told her what was missing. She came back with the queso, put it in the bag then walked away. I watched her for a minute thinking she'd grab the chips as well but she didn't. I stood there waiting for someone to come over. A few minutes later, a different lady did and got me the chips. This was at 4 on a Sunday. It wasn't busy. People were walking in, ordering and paying within minutes. No line. There was at least 6 employees. I'd be more understanding if it was really busy but it was an order with nachos, chips and queso. Pretty simple. Soggy nachos are the worst but they wouldn't have been soggy had anyone paid attention.

    The service was not great. I had a pickup order, and I showed up 5 minutes after it was meant to be ready just to be safe. When I arrived they hadn’t even printed my order. Everyone seemed to only speak Spanish and couldn’t find my name when I told them my order. After about -0 minutes I realized that they had given up and none of them were working in my order still. I told another lady that I found who could speak English and she eventually found and made my order… wrong. She misread the order, they didn’t have some of the food that I had already payed for in stock and so substituted it, and by the time I realized all the mistakes I was already on my way to my appointment (I was already late). Overall the service was really quite horrible. All I can say is at least the food didn’t taste horrible on top of it all. I don’t usually write reviews, but this was not my first bad experience at this particular location, so I thought it only fair to give some feedback.

    Cafe Rio is not at this location any longer. We pulled out up on a map and drove through the plaza. Stopped and went into a neighboring business and they told us it is now the new business seem on the outside. Needless to say, maps hasn't caught up to this them because we drive around for a bit looking for some obscure sign before stopping to ask.

    I have been here so many times and being aware that my asking for two different sauces is unusual, I am extremely polite, and regardless they completely treat me like I’m an absolute nuisance. First, we came in 45 minutes before close and they already had all the chairs up. Then, the way they react to me asking for the red sauce AND green sauce is as if it’s coming straight out of their paycheck or I’m asking them to grill me new chicken and cut me fresh tomato’s. The people in front of me and behind me this time were also being treated like they were impertinent pests and the staff were so hostile to them as well, it was as if we had spit over the glass at them. They pulled every plate out of the oven early so that the cheese wasn’t melted, they mixed up every single person’s order in line and got every order wrong in some way, the girl in front of me turned around and expressed how ridiculous it was, and the person behind me also remarked at how frustrating it all was. Truly unbelievable service, and after years of poor service from them, I truly don’t know how they’re still operating. The food here is so delicious, PLEASE do better.

    Rice and bean were undercooked and dry, which is forgivable but then I found a bug in the lettuce and salsa. Luckily I ordered online and got the salad on the side. But would not recommend this location.

    Ordered online and almost none of the modifications were followed. Asked for no cilantro and to add shredded cheese. Neither were followed and then the pulled pork wasn’t even fully shedded just big clumps. Not a great experience.

    Cant tell you how awful the Orem location is. It's disgusting how many times I have ordered and either gotten the wrong order or had to wait 30 plus minutes after my delivery time for the staff to have it ready. One time I even had my meal taken by someone else and an employee said sorry and sat and started at me. My wife and I place bets on which one of us will have our order be wrong and it is wrong so often that it has become a joke in our house and with family members. I wish I could go back in time and have never decided to use that location. I will now be driving the extra 10 minutes and 8 miles to visit Costa Vida because they have never gotten my order wrong. 15 dollar salads look like they were made by a 3 year old and portioned for such. Also, dont get me started on how many times I have had to drive back to the store just because they forgot my dressing. Would give zero stars if it was possible.

    Stopped by tonight to pick up two door dash orders. I waited 25 minutes for both. When the orders came out I checked and, you guessed it, the dessert had been forgotten, which at that point was honestly not surprising. There was a whole crowd of people waiting by the pickup section. One person was told her order would be another ten minutes despite ordering online twenty minutes prior. Perhaps the worst thing is that no one asked if I had an order to pickup when I walked up tot he counter for at least the first 5 minutes. Out of all the hundreds of locations I've picked up food, this has been by a clear mile my worst experience.

    This location is terrible. I have gone to cafe rio for a few years now and this was the worst experience. I always order a salad with half pinto beans and half black beans, yellow and white cheese and sour cream instead of the dressing. My order came to $19 dollars and I wondered why. The cashier told me that it was extra beans and charged me for the cheese...again was never charged for those things in the first place and the cashier just shrugged it off like it was no big deal. If one location charges they should all charge. I dont like the feta cheese and I like half of both beans. It was not an extra side of beans. I will not be going back to this location. Very unsatisfying.

    The long line should indicate this is a popular dining option in this area. The food was OK. The horchata, not bad. Overall, this was a mediocre dining experience and I didn’t leave wishing a Cafe Rio would come to my state.
