This hotel is in a great location. Super close to Universal and there are shuttles constantly. I was highly impressed with our room. It was bigger than expected and I liked how the toilet was Separate. Also had two sinks one in the room with the shower and one at the vanity. Was so convenient. Loved the seating area made it easy for friends to come hang. The resort is set up perfectly for families. The food is way over priced as usual but good. We enjoyed our stay even though it was a short one. Loved the fact that there is plenty for the kids to do just in the hotel itself. Plenty of food options. Bowling alley and arcade as well was the great pool area.

This is a really cool place! It's 50s/60s themed down to every last detail, including the complimentary soaps and shampoos in the room. The atmosphere speaks "traditional family". The diner has GREAT food and a drive in feel. They show old ads from the 50s/60s. Room service was excellent! Rooms were very clean and efficient. We had a kitchenette, a pull out couch, a cool retro room divider, a closet, a crib, and 2 queen beds. Very roomy and easily slept 6 plus a baby. The heated, outdoor pools were a lot of fun. They offered free life jackets for kids 30lbs and up. They also had an epic sand pit (the size of the pool) with sand castle toys galore, a large grassy field with provided hula hoops to play with, and all the grounds picnic tables had build in checker/chess boards. The main building had a retro bowling alley.

The hotel is beautiful. I just spent a week with my 2 kids in a family suite. There was plenty of room, the beds were comfortable and anything we requested was brought over immediately. The views by the pool are lovely. The dining area is beautiful with views of the pool and the volcano. The food was very good and very reasonably priced. There was so much to do at the hotel, like glow bowling, arcade, shopping, dining at several restaurants, there are several bars and other outdoor activities. The location is actually connected to Volcano Bay and very close to City Walk and Universal as well as Islands of Adventure. Overall we had an amazing vacation and I cannot wait to go back to The Cabana Bay Beach Club.

Great hotel for kids, and they definitely try to appeal to adults too. The Swizzle bar is a great perk, and the pools/lazy river are awesome. The design of the hotel is fun, and all of the staff members go above and beyond. I've stayed here twice now, and really enjoy using the walking/garden path over to Universal. It's a beautiful path for adults and older kids to take to the parks. The one downside I've found staying here is how loud the rooms near ours have been with all of the kids, which is partially on the parents for letting kids run screaming through the halls at 10 pm and no fault of the resorts. I'd definitely stay here again. I do generally prefer Sapphire Falls mostly because it's a more adult environment, but love both.

Writing in about my family of 7 recent experience and 4 night trip to Cabana Bay last week. We arrived on Monday to a great room and an awesome view of the volcano. All very excited. Traveled to city walk which was an awful experience on the shuttle with a toddler and 6 month old baby and a 10 year old as well. We were forced to break down our strollers completely and remove the children which is just a complete hassle and very embarrassing to do quickly in front of strangers. If traveling with young children do not recommend the commute to park and hotel via shuttle is NOT toddler or younger friendly. The 3rd night in we did this experience again this time via our own car which was a much better experience. After our dining experience we went back to Cabana Bay. Got back at maybe 11pm. Went back up to the hotel. Following day we went islands of adventure next morning. After receiving a phone call from my Mother in law that the hotel had found our vehicle had been broken into our entire driver side window smashed in and glass shattered throughout entire vehicle. Left park immediately with family to deal with matter. Management was ABSOLUTELY ZERO HELP AND NOT IN THE SLIGHTEST REMORSEFUL. We spent thousands and thousands of dollars on this vacation. We lost 2 whole days. They refused to compensate in any type of way no offer of park passes or anything we lost 2 whole days. They offered taxi vouchers and to turn our receipts in for any damages that were caused. Security is almost non existent. In no way am I blaming Cabana Bay for the damage to our vehicle. But after spending thousands of dollars at their property and Universal you would think they would be more than willing to accommodate us after such a horrible experience. This happened a week ago now and we returned Friday. We left all of our info and have yet to hear a single word from ANYONE at Universal or Cabana Bay. We will not be returning and very disappointed in the handling of our situation by Cabana Bay. Would not recommend for small children. Would not recommend if you do not want your property damaged and waste thousands of dollars.

Great location if you are looking to be close to Universal without paying Hard Rock prices. Pool is absolutely amazing and the other amenities are not bad at all (bowling, arcade, etc.). Although not the most secure place. We were told if our key card doesn’t work at the gate to the rooms, just stick your hand through the hole and unlock it from the other side. We had a very interesting experience checking in - after a VERY long day of traveling we ended up having to switch rooms 3 times for various reasons. Honestly wouldn’t have been too big of a deal if we weren’t so tired and had to explain to the employees what we needed, “a room with a tub due to medical needs for a child and preferably an adjoining room next to our family.” First two rooms were in completely different buildings with no tub and not cleaned from the prior guests. We were told the adjoining room to our family was not available (okay). Next room must have just been sprayed with Lysol as we could smell it from outside the room and found trash and hair in the room. Also, no tub. Again, we were told the adjoining room to our family was not available (cool). Last room we were moved to was extremely clean, had a tub, and yes you guessed it, the adjoining room to our family. After hour 3 and room 4 we were beat. Didn’t have the energy to ask, “Why couldn’t we have just been placed here hours ago?”

Can’t say enough about how great our stay was! The staff was incredibly helpful and went the extra mile to help. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. It was great to have access to a microwave and fridge to cut down on food waste. The theme was amazing! All of the colors, textures, and 50s and 60s decor was incredible. Our kids had a blast at the arcade and if we stayed longer we would have loved to bowl! The shuttle came regularly and was convenient to the park. Better than our stay at Disney! Would highly recommend!

Honestly, one of the best hotels I’ve stayed in around the globe. Check-in was a little long and service was slow when we arrived but apart from that everything was incredible. We had the family suite for just the two of us but this was perfect. The room was cleaned everyday and the cleaning staff were super helpful in getting us towels or other bits. Towels are provided by the pool which is a huge help. The bar staff were great, prices for beer wasn’t anything we didn’t expect. The on-site catering facilities where great. We only ate here once but the food and service was fab. We ordered a lot of food in and collected in reception (massive plus to saving money). The pool was lovely, always space and being within a 2 minutes/second walk to volcano bay was the best experience. The hotel is also on the Universal Garden walk route so we didn’t have to get transport to the parks at all. It’s a 20 minute walk to city walk, and from her you go into either park so this was super ideal. The wall is also lovely so we enjoyed this freedom.

Very nice place to stay and a great staff. Check in was smooth and the shuttle to city walk was amazing. Everything is conveniently located at the hotel. Only complaint is the long Starbucks line but the staffed did they're best and kept a smile on their face. The fridge is very small and doesn't keep items cool. One of the bus driver who sang Happy birthday to my wife was phenomenal. She could definitely sing professionally. Just all around great

Highly recommend! Staff were very friendly and accommodating. The outdoor pool/lounge were so fun and relaxing, perfect for couples or family. I enjoyed the outdoor tables with lights and a bonfire at night along with bonfire kits and a delicious drink from their bar. Dining was yummy although I wish they had more options. I love me my Starbucks and was so happy to have one in the lobby every morning! The shuttle was very quick, easy, and convenient every day to parks and city walk, until 3 AM. Gift shop was also helpful with lots of gift choices or personal needed items.

I had a lovely stay here. The room was nice, clean, and I also liked that you could text front desk for your needs and they handled everything asap. The lazy river and hot tub was also amazing! The diner (cafeteria) is a little on the pricey side but the food was good. I never waited more than 3-5 minutes for the shuttle to take us to Universal Studios/City Walk/Islands of Adventure (all in one place). It’s a very family friendly hotel. Would recommend staying here!

The room was perfect for my family. Our view from our room was of the pool and was so pretty at night when it was all lite up. The beds were comfortable. We loved the large shower and the water pressure was good. The staff was extremely helpful and nice. The pizza from the on site pizzeria was delicious but tiny. The TV did lag a bit and if you weren't out of your room by 9am we didn't recieve maid service and get fresh towels but those are my only complaints. Overall a very pleasant experience and we will stay here again.

Great staff, location, pools, eateries. Bus transportation to city walk & theme parks are great. Kids (11-14) loved lazy river, pool, and other pool with slide. Frozen adult beverages were great at the Hideaway Bar too. Kids and adults liked the various selections of food options within the hotel and all were sad to leave. Plenty of seating in eatery as well as pool area. Had a maintenance issue in my room and they responded within minutes, fixed issue and were very personable. All of the staff were very helpful and courteous the entire stay. Also provided area to get tickets, passes, provided various directions - also responded immediately to text as well as calls.

Wonderful experience. The hotel is themed with a 60s vibe. Really great value and lots of cool amenities. There's a bowling alley and shops and 2 great pools, with a lazy river and water slide. Right next to Volcano Bay, a fabulous water park. Staff is super friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants a fantastic vacation for a fantastic price. We absolutely love it.

So happy we stayed here. After arriving and seeing how many things there were to keep the kids busy we decided not to go to volcano bay. It was a great decision considering they were sold out and the next day there were storms. My kids REALLY enjoy the water slide, game room and lazy River and the person who made the cool balloons. The variety of food options was fantastic. Something for everyone. The resort is so large you never feel crowded. We stayed on the family suite side and From now on I will only stay in a family suite. So spacious and loved the mini kitchen. Service is outstanding. Most mornings I received a text message checking in to see if there was anything we needed. House keeping is not stingy with supplies either. We WILL be back.

Volcano Bay view room. Initial thoughts on the hotel were excellent, check-in was easy and quick and was provided a map and told about all the relevant locations, times and details. These rooms are in the 2 towers which are quite far from the lobby but that wasn't really an issue. The view was spectacular and initially seemed worth the premium. The room was spacious and clean so all good there. The food in the food court was surprisingly good with decent variation and never super busy and the ability to have anything "to go" so we could take it back to our rooms was nice and used a fair bit. 2 big gripes which would stop us returning were:- 1. Smoking areas were located in several spots along the walkway from the towers to the lobby so the children kept having to pass through them - must be around 5 of them on a short stretch of path - this is very out-dated and they should be located far away from where non-smoking guest need to walk. My wife also commented that during the one time they did the lazy river it also seemed to pass through a smoking area which seems ridiculous. Having just come from Disney resort property where we encounters zero smokers this was a real let down. 2. Noise - although there is a great view of Volcano Bay for some reason the music at Volcano Bay is switched on 2hours before the park opens and not turned off till 2h past closing - and it's really loud. I know people get up early but you had no choice with the sound and getting the kids to rest with the music blasting till late wasn't fun either. Such a shame as initially it seemed like we'd found a great location but by the end of our 5 nights there we were very much ready to move on to our next hotel. This won't be a hotel we consider on the next trip to Disney/Universal.

Overall, we enjoyed our mini stay-cation for our daughter's 8th birthday. My husband and I hadn't been back to this hotel in over 10 years and we were pleasantly surprised with the small changes that have been made. However, we were also surprised with certain things we believe a multi-billion $$ company, like Universal Studios, shouldn't be struggling with like cleanliness and maintenance. Outside of that, decent hotel with lots to do with the kids, good food and great proximity to the parks.

PROS: Walking Access to Volcano Bay with special guest entrance Free 10-15 minute bus transport to Universal Spacious rooms that can sleep 2-4-6 people - clean, well maintained mostly. As a family of 4, we had a lot of space to sit, relax & sleep Kitchenette & Laundry & Drying Rooms Pool Variety of food options - yummy breakfast at the Diner Universal Gift Shop in the hotel Had a good vibe and family-friendly feeling CONS: No kosher/halal food options (vegetarian is not the same) Though they have multiple buses, during busy times bus transport can take longer as lots of people queue up. So its best to be early or late Car Parking is not free

We have stayed on multiple occasions on this property and it doesn't disappoint. There are tons of activities for the kids and Adults. The location is very convenient for parks and many local attractions. The only critique I have is the family room we stayed in was lacking a bit on the extra pillows and a heavier blanket for the pullout couch. Not a major issue at all and easily fixed by the maids. I would 100% recommend a stay here.

Loved our time at Cabana Bay! Our room was well appointed with a fridge, microwave and small kitchen area. Our room opened to the pool area which was super convenient! We really enjoyed the theming and all the water activities. It was a beautiful, relaxing stay. We will definitely stay here again.

Enjoyed our stay! Dining area was very clean, food options had something for everyone (group of 10 including 4 kids). Rooms were clean. Shuttle service was great and loved the location of the hotel. Wished we did more at the resort with the pools, bowling, arcade -- will have to plan another vacation soon to make sure we use all the facilities. Thanks for a great stay!

The resort had a lot of amenities and offered more value for my money than any other resort. Staff was awesome and helpful. Housekeeping was efficient. Only down side was food selection was not very exciting, and was actually very limiting compared to other resorts. It was edible, but not the reason I stayed there. Our family had so much fun enjoying bowling and pools. Convenience to the parks was great and on site transportation was fast. I plan on staying again.

Greatest advice I can give is book directly with Universal. No 3rd party. You will get an email so you can check in online upon arrival. You want to do this so when you arrive, you can wait in the much shorter line, MOBILE CHECK IN. It’s not well visible, it’s after the main line. There were 4 attendants helping 10 people in the mobile line and 3 helping 50 people in the regular line. This will save you so much time! Also, bring big inflatable tubes with you for the lazy river. They charge at the pool to rent them and were closed when we arrived because they were sold out. The self serve ice cream bar at the diner was a big hit for my kiddos! The pools are fantastic, our room was quiet, clean, and functional and we loved it. They have a fire pit too, you have to bring your own marshmallows and sticks. The entire staff of the hotel was wonderful. So very helpful! Parking was easy access to hotel and loved being able to walk 5 minutes behind our hotel bldg 8 to get to Volcano Bay an hour early before it opens to the general public. Great job Cabana Bay!

The drive for us was six hours. The time we went was the week of April 1st, so there was a lot of events going on. I will start with what I loved. The overall hotel was very nice, staff were on different pages based on giving discounts, etc. This hotel is not with universal so I would not stay here again because for me booking strictly with universal it would have helped save money ! I do think that the resort is over priced with a lot of things. Drinks at the bar start at 12-24 dollars a piece, food is fairly priced. The shower heads in the room were not very good at all. The cleaning staff were the nicest and friendliest people. The pool area should stay open a littler later and or the fire pit (let this be open). The staff telling us to leave was more demanding than friendly when asking us to leave. (Maybe a confidence issue ?) you have to pay for everything including tubes for the lazy river. Breakfast was not included. I get the give and take and people have to make money and get paid, but we have gotten so greedy it seems. Customer service is so important to me and there are a few areas i would fix based on training, transparency and being friendly with a few interactions I had with staff. I would say once again the cleaning staff was more recommended than the actual customer service staff. I love that you are able to go inside the park earlier. The walk to the park is so beautiful and well worth it.

I love the heated pool, lazy river, and hot tub. Everything is kept very clean. That being said, the food in the diner is over-priced. When I was there, none of the dryers in the building were working/available, so we had a bunch of wet clothes we couldn't dry. We ended up having to go outside the hotel to dry our things, and the laundromat we ended up at was very sketchy!!!

Great hotel. The half we stayed in (Starlight family suites) feature a very cute mid-mod design, but in need of a refresh. We did see one cockroach in the room. I think it got in from outside rather than being an infestation in the hotel. Ultimately a good place to stay for the family suite (fridge and microwave in room) and early access to Universal. The shuttles to universal are easy and efficient as well.

BED BUGS BED BUGS BED BUGS BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE I recently stayed here (Sep 2023) and my room tested positive for bed bugs. They moved us to a new room but I had to voice a concern to get my clothes and luggage sent to a service by this hotel for cleaning. Shouldn’t this be normal protocol? That is how bed bugs SPREAD. Since all our belongings had to be sent to our next hotel and they were all bagged with notes saying heat treated, it was embarrassing. The bell desk employee immediately guessed bed bugs. Bed bug bites are NO JOKE. The majority of mine welted to the size of a quarter and blistered in the center. They were EXTREMELY itchy and uncomfortable. Two of the last bites I got welted to the size of a silver dollar and I worried they were infected. Luckily, they weren’t, my reactions were just becoming worse. I even avoided pictures because of them and was embarrassed in public. This is Florida so I brought a lot of tank tops, which didn’t hide them. I had about 15 in all by the end of this awful experience. The gentleman who came to our room when we reported it was not kind. He made us feel like we were just morons. He looked at the long lines of bites I had on my upper arm and said bed bugs don’t bite like that. Obviously, they do. I have never experienced bed bugs before so I did not what to look. After our interaction with him, we called a friend who works in pest control and he explained what to look for. I have attached pictures. If WE could find the bed bug signs then THEY should have. Blood stains and exoskeletons. The manager I dealt with just acted like this wasn’t a big deal. I promise, this was a HUGE deal to me. This trip was for our ten year anniversary and it greatly affected it in so many negative ways. I understand that it is not their fault if someone brings them in but it IS their responsibility to take care of it if this happens. Their response was inadequate, unprofessional, and unacceptable. They did refund our room but after this, but I would not risk staying here. It wasn’t worth the detrimental experience.

Cabana Bay as our favorite hotel to stay at when visiting Universal Orlando! In fact, we often stay here even if we are visiting Disney. The value of this hotel is so much bang for your buck. This is considered a value resort but also includes amazing amenities like a lazy river and a bowling alley! The service is fantastic all the way around and our favorite feature is that you receive a text upon check-in and can reply to that text at any time during your stay, if you need extra items for your room, have questions about the parks or need any information about the hotel! Very quick to respond and help. Will definitely continue to stay here and recommend this hotel to others!

We had planned to go to Volcano Bay for one day and this is the best hotel for as it’s within walking distance! It was so convenient. The hotel itself has a retro theme including a bowling alley on the top floor. It was two pools, two hot tubs, a lazy river and a water slide. Note - you either need to bring your own float for the lazy river or you will have to rent one. All of the employees were excellent. Kay at the pool snack shack (near the lazy river) went above and beyond and I want to give a huge shout out to her! We usually stay at Endless Summer and prefer the room layout there. However, you cannot beat the close proximity when visiting Volcano Bay more than staying at Cabana Bay!

Overall a nice place. I would definitely say it’s better for families as it has spacious rooms and storage for food/snacks. Our in room fridge was quite noisy but the room stayed cool and AC worked well. There is a lot of walking and unfortunately the pool closest to us was closed for repair. They have a Starbucks and plenty of food options which was great! They also have the toilet and shower in separate areas with 2 separate sinks so getting ready is smooth.

My husband and I only stayed here briefly for one night and it was the last night of our trip. I don’t feel comfortable fully reviewing the hotel because I didn’t get the entire experience. HOWEVER!!!! The bartender, SYDNEY, at the bowling alley went above and beyond any customer service I have ever experienced at any hotel (universal or not….and we’ve stayed at Loews Royal Pacific and Hard Rock). I hope her colleagues and supervisors know how well she treats their guests and how much she can improve their experience at Cabana Bay. I’d be happy to provide further details if anyone at Cabana Bay would like them because she is a rock star

The only thing I can say, is the access into the parking lots are tricky sometimes, the key doesn’t work too well and you have to keep entering the card room key in order to gain access into different parts of the hotel. Other than that, it was a very perfect stay!!! Staff is incredibly friendly and there is quite a few places to eat in and around the resort! Plenty if things to see and do with a bar nearly at every angle.. I love the retro vibe and the rooms had no issue!

What to say about Universal's Cabana Bay Beach Resort? I was surprised at how much I liked the hotel, especially the theme, which really helped me get into the vacation mood. I really love the pool area, including the slide, and the fact that there was sand everywhere (making sure you can call it a beach resort). The food at the poolside restaurant was great, although some people in my party had different opinions, often calling some dishes tasteless, so I think we were lucky to have ordered the Chicken Avocado wrap. The rooms are roomy, and I really liked the separation between the bedroom and the living room.

The hotel is supposed to feel dated in a very 50-60s way. But it just feels dated in general. The rooms are fine but not overly nice. The food at the hotel was surprisingly good but getting it wasn't always easy as lines were long and service slow. The pools were nice although the lazy river where one has to bring their own tubes was ab but odd. Although given the size of the lazy river it's probably better without everyone being in a tube as it would feel very cramped. The location and accessibility to universal is nice. The bus service never kept us waiting to or from the park and the walk to volcano bay is very short. If you want one stop stay for universal it's worth it. The early park admission is nice although keep in mind the time is when they let you into the attractions themselves and not when the park opens. If you show up at early open time you'll find a line to get in including non hotel guests. So I'd suggest getting there 30 minutes prior to get into park and than you can walk to attractions promptly at early open.

Really great, clean, comfortable, fun hotel with great service. Food seemed really expensive but we mostly brought our own and used the fridge and microwave in our room. Very easy walking access to water park - especially from high rise/interior entrance rooms side. Access to main parks was ok but required either a bus ride with long walk through city walk or a fairly round about walk to sapphire falls across the street to the boats (which went very close to the entrance of Universal Studios).

Resort was perfect for our Volcano Bay trip. The hotel entrance to the park was literally steps from our hotel and the early park admission allowed us to ride the rides we wanted to before lines formed. Nicholas at the check in desk was super helpful. We wanted a high floor and he got us on the very top and allowed us to check into our room when we arrived around 1 pm. Room was bright and clean. This stay exceeded my expectations!

This was my first visit to a Universal Hotel and it was definitely worth it. I loved that the shuttle to the theme parks were frequent and not too crowded. It made it very convenient. The hotel itself, the rooms were nice and had everything you needed, they had plenty of options for dining although expensive the food was delicious. I like that they had 2 large pools with plenty of lounge chairs and a convenient bar for adults.

We wish we had more days to explore this hotel. Great price for a rather large room (in hotel standards). We booked the poolside family suite, at check in we were offered a higher floor (for better views) but choose ground level. Everything was quiet in the room, we had two separate spaces one side had 2 queen beds and the other had a pullout couch and small kitchenette (mini fridge, sink, microwave, and coffee machine). There’s a sliding door to close off the space if needed. The room is decorated in a retro theme, beds were very comfortable. Buses to the park were easy to catch, there was a walkway but it was raining the first (and only) full day we were there so we did the bus instead. Would have loved to enjoy the pool and check out the milkshake bar but ran out of time. Will definitely return in the future.

My family had the best time at Cabana Bay! The room had a great view of the pool and very comfortably slept 4 adults and 1 child. The pool area had a lot of seating and was kept clean. The lazy river was a family favorite. We also enjoyed the nightly movies they played poolside at the end of the evening. The food was pretty much cafeteria quality, but was still enjoyable after a long day at the parks. The lobby eateries stayed open late and that was much appreciated. I used the laundry room twice during our stay and it was clean and had plenty of machines available. The staff was great and answered every question we had.

Nice hotel. I liked being close to Universal. I did not like how far from the main building we were (building 6). The towels were pretty rough. Service was helpful and reasonably helpful. I wish there had been more food options that weren't fast food. They did have a variety of diner style, which fit the theme. The lines for food were reasonable every time we went. It was very clean. The shuttle to the park was very appreciated.

Very friendly staff who is knowledgeable. I enjoyed the family suite and the amenities. There's a lot to explore on this hotel and I had a blast. Rooms have a huge fridge! And a regular size microwave. Plastic silverware is provided as well as plastic plates and bowls. We didn't need it but found out the couch is the family suite was a pull out sofa bed. There's shuttles to the park but if you want to take a water taxi, you'll have to walk to sapphire hotel. Overall, great experience.
