Tucked away down a suburban road. Sign posting for its location is dyer. All hale Google Maps. Mid size hospital with a testing centre which I needed to use. Covit testing is becoming the norm now. This is my local test centre and because I dont drive I was allocated this unit to take care of pre-surgery testing. I found it after a couple of miss turns. Carpark is on the small size and expensive. What you going to do. Its seems that this part of the hospital experience now!

Nurses are friendly and very helpful. Second hand books available to buy from hospital shop when you are bored. Walk in blood tests facilities (usually approx. 1 hour wait, sometimes more - no matter what time you get here) available. However, if you arrive after 330pm (even though it closes at 430pm), you may not get seen because the wait was too long. So you may end up paying for the car park without the services you need. Outpatient dermatology clinic is moving out to Beckenham Beacon. Hospital building looks a bit run down and floors can be better cleaned. But despite all the above, service is always courteous which matters the most. Try to crack a joke and make the nurses smile - they'd love it!

I spent almost two months here recovering from muscle loss after contracting COVID in 2021. The facilities are excellent and the staff are truly amazing. If it were not for them I never would have gotten my life back. Their support and compassion got me through some dark times. Bless them all.

Attended a colposcopy appointment today and I cannot speak highly enough of the staff. The lady on reception was so welcoming and when I told the doctor and nurses that I was nervous, they did everything they could to make me feel at ease. Thank you for your patience, sensitivity and understanding.

I was referred to the Orpington Hospital Orthopaedic department under the care of Mr Paul Gill last year. I was seen to by a junior Doctor in January 2023 who asked me to sign a consent form for a total knee replacement. After that there was no communication at all. I contacted the department and asked to see the consultant. But was informed that he is far too busy. I found this approach extremely hard as having any major surgery is no joke. If the consultant has no time for his patients, why is he doing this job? He should first learn how to work with his patients in an empathetic way. I discharged myself from an unfriendly service and environment. I am badly disabled with painful knee osteoarthritis with poor mobility. Does this NHS consultant really care? The NHS is here because of the public. Without us the people there will be no NHS. I have always admired the consultants and nurses and the NHS. But they are not the same compassionate people who care for the welfare of their patients nor their vocation. They are not the same anymore.

The nurses are generally lovely, but it doesn’t make up for the fact that the outpatient management is terrible. You know how it apparently costs NHS £160 for every appointment you miss? This hospital sent my appointment letter to the wrong address, and that was done with 6 months delay to when it was flagged I needed the appointment. I found out about the missed appointment because they reached out to my GP rather than attempt to contact me via phone (which they had on file) and the GP kindly alerted me. When the appointment was finally re-booked, and it was booked for dates I specifically said I could not attend on twice along the way, almost a year after it was due - the male consultant didn’t quite realise the meaning of dates in my notes and I ended up having to have another appointment after that one. At that second appointment I was told I’d be having the procedure I specifically declined in my previous appointment, instead of what I was there for. Again, I had to straighten that up. Just so so messy and discouraging. While I don’t mind the building itself (clean, reasonably well maintained, if small) and think that nurses there are so lovely in person, I cannot see how NHS hospital can be operating with such level of inefficiency and poor outpatient management.

Parking is ok, pay by machine or by phone. Very clean hospital. Vending machines for food and drinks - have to use card not cash - easy to use. Staff very friendly.

I have been spending alot of time in hospital for different appointments the last 6 months and my visit this week to Orpington stood very clearly out from the rest. Lynn who did my family member's bloods was so caring and made the whole process easy and as pleasant as it can be. We also were offered help with a wheelchair by 2 lovely gentlemen as we left the building. Thank you for proving that empathy and kindness still exists!

The staff are something special... 10/10. I came in for a procedure and I was super nervous for it but the doctor and 2 nurses make me feel calm and comfortable the whole time. I usually hate coming to the hospital but the conversation distracted me to the point where I forgot where I was hahaha. I also found navigating the hospital super easy - there are signs everywhere and people around to help you if you get lost. Anyway, thank you to the staff at Orpington Hospital! You all deserve your flowers

As I had never used Orpington hospital before I was slightly nervous when I found out that I was having my operation there. I didn't know what to expect. I can honestly say, that throughout the whole procedure I was looked after very well by the whole team. They were all very professional, kind and caring. It's what one would expect but I cannot thank them enough for making me feel comfortable and well looked after.

I usually never write reviews but I had to express my deepest gratitude to the staff that were present for the Colposcopy I had today. After having a traumatic cervical screening a couple weeks prior I was incredibly anxious about having a colposcopy. After sharing my concerns I felt validated, heard and it made all the difference having patient, understanding and caring staff walk me through the whole procedure.

I had a bunionectomy under Mr Ray today and his team. The care was outstanding from all perspectives. On arrival greeted by warm nurse who did my obs and put Ted's on. Very friendly. Then Mr Ray and his team came explained everything and very thorough. I really like Mr Ray's approach and bedside manner. He has done multiple surgeries on me and all gone well. Theatre all very professional, recovery nurse very caring then onto ward nurse greeted me with a sandwich and tea. GREAT. Physio gave me crutches and instructions. I highly recommend this hospital and Mr Ray for any foot/ankle issues. I also left my bag on back of wheelchair when getting in car. Only realised when arrived back home and Mr Obo in security kindly found bag on wheelchair and kept it for my sister to go back and collect. THANK YOU

Having worked in one of the wards until recently,it is a great place to work the wards neat and quiet. There are a few times the wards get a bit noisy due to some patients' activities.

Attended for a colposcopy today. I was quite nervous with the fear of something being wrong. The lady at the colposcopy desk was lovely, very welcoming. Eve and the team of ladies in the clinic room were so nice, asked me if I had any questions, made me feel very comfortable and Eve was so gentle when performing the test. Absolutely 5* to the team. Thank you again.

Update: it seems the Doctor looking after my case since 2018th has no clue what he is doing and he doesn’t give me much info either. Very disappointed with him. —— Had UV scan twice. First time the gentleman was very kind and explained everything. Second time I felt like in a mass production machine ‘lay down - scanning - go now’ Anyway, waiting time was very short, clean and nice place of what I saw. Oh, the department receptionist is amazing, smiley and very kind.

Staff are on the whole very nice…but not enough of them. I had a colposcopy and had to wait 3 months for the result!! Now chasing the follow up smear result done over 2 months ago and it’s still sitting in the ‘to type pile’ as it was 4 weeks ago when I rang. They desperately need more staff in that department. I was told they are only typing up from the beginning of May so it’s going to be more than 3 months this time. I feel sorry for the admin staff who are obviously struggling. From a patients point of view this is not good enough. Employ more staff!
