Lovely young man who guided our punting experience. He knew lots of the history of the college’s and told a few funny tales along the way!! Fantastic scenery and buildings; well worth going. We booked online on the website and got a very good deal; it was considerably more inexpensive than other punting companies close by. Would highly recommend.

This was the main reason Najwa wanted to come to Cambridge!! Both her and my wife had done this punting during their previous visit here a few years ago. Thus, my wife insisted that I must give it a try. Najwa had commented that the guides/punters are actually Cambridge University students themselves, and they are very knowledgeable and...cute! I responded that since it was already 3 days before Christmas, most of the students would have gone home already. With our luck, we could probably have ended up with one of the gardeners as our punter!! Obviously, Najwa didnt take too kindly to that statement, and still kept her hopes high.. We arrived at Trinity College in the afternoon around 2:00 pm. The weather was quite chilly, but the setting was scenic and beautiful. Being my first visit to Cambridge University, I was very keen to listen to real and authentic stories about these prestigious colleges, instead of mere hearsays. We were ably attended by Patrick, a strikingly charming young man, who quickly arranged the boat for our party of four plus another four people. Najwa was all smiles, and hinted at me, "This is NOT a gardener, Dad!".. True enough, Patrick was right in his elements. As an ice breaker, I quipped, "Patrick, have you done this before?", with a straight face. He laughed it off, and understood our nervous predicament. But the way he expertly launched the long steering poles while navigating the narrow river, and negotiating between other boats to avoid potential collision, put paid to our initial worries... It was a very relaxing yet informative tour for me, as I learned more about the 7 colleges, especially the differences between the King's College and the Queen's...I also appreciated the stories about Sir Issac Newton, the apple tree and the "methamatical bridge". Also the fact that King Charles actually studied and stayed at St John's College. Hence, all throughout the tour I was recording videos of the views of amazing architecture, stories and funny anacdotes from Patrick, while my wife was busy taking and posing for photos. Meanwhile, Najwa and Atiq were in their own fantasy world, ogling and giggling, and laughing non stop, as they were seated directly facing our punter...

My mom and I went on a Tuesday in April in the early afternoon. Weather was perfect. Our guide, Ben, was very funny. We enjoyed learning about the history of Cambridge. The tour was 45 minutes, which was the perfect time span. I recommend booking online in advance.

Amazing value for money, 50 minute guided tour. We booked online and paid £30 for 2 people. As we were walking past the punting boats we were quoted £70 and then £50 by the people selling tours (other companies). I would definitely recommend booking with this company, we only booked an hour before our tour on the day!

I was really looking forward to punting and this did not disappoint. Although I booked a shared tour I was very fortunate to have a punt all to myself, driven by the lovely Sam. The River Cam was practically empty and I had a great time listening to the history of Cambridge from Sam. He was very knowledgeable and friendly and was happy to answer all my questions would definitely recommend him.

Excellent experience and a must when visiting Cambridge to really see the city and university colleges at their best. We took a private tour which we would strongly recommend as the guide lets you have a go and instructs as well as tells you interesting things. Lots of people hire th punts and then spend most of the time not going anywhere!

A last minute booking a few hours before our tour and this was the cheapest we have found for a group of 6! We were just 4 adults with a 3 year old but still turned out to be the cheapest compared to the other sites I visited. I highly recommend getting a “group of 6” ticket, as we were allocated an entire seating area so in spite of it being a shared tour, it still felt relatively private! Will, our punter/tour guide has been excellent and helpful- apparently ours was his 7th trip of the day but he was still very nice, professional, informative and accommodating to answer all our questions! Thanks Will for making our first punting experience memorable!

Amazing tour- the punter and guide “Josh” was very knowledgeable. I booked it on my phone and had an email receipt. Parking was a bit tricky- but I asked a passer by and was advised to park in the pub near by. It was a nice walk to the punting point- we grabbed a yummy ice cream (almond pistachio) on the way.

Our second trip with this company…so good we came back again with our teenage children who thoroughly enjoyed it 😀 Lots of interesting stories about Cambridge and the colleges …our pusher/ chauffeur Ryan was great and very entertaining. The river banks are different throughout the year and we will definitely be back to see it in Spring/ Summer when all the flowers are out !

Great experience!!! Our guide Ewan was funny and interacted with us often! I really enjoyed his company and him doing a cool maneuver on the concussion bridge 🤣. He showed us around Cambridge and within around 30m I saw some of the most beautiful buildings and failed architectures ever! Cambridge is super interesting and I'm glad this punting experience was able to show me that. Thanks!

We had a great tour thank you. We went at 6.15 which was a good time to go. There were 9 of us in the family, four were from America so it was a great experience for the children to take back home with them. Ben was a really good guide and made it very interesting without bombarding us with an overload of information. Thank you Ben!

We arrived at our meeting point where we met Josh, our wonderful chauffeur. This was our first time punting and in Cambridge so we were very open to the experience. Josh was friendly and guided us through with to be honest, as much information as our University tour guide had the day before. Not all the same information and even if you do attend a walking tour of Cambridge it is well worth partaking in a punting experience. The views from the backs were wonderful and there was a lovely overall atmosphere in the shared punt. There appeared to only be only one difference between the expensive punting company and ours, and that was blankets. In no way did we lose out by choosing a less expensive punting company. Excited to come back in the summer and I wouldn’t hesitate to book again. Lovely first experience for my daughter and I.

They started the punting on time and it took about 45-50 minutes. Punting guy Alex gave us interesting information about the buildings and their history while we passed by. He was kind and helpful. My daughter and I had amazing time and next time I am planning to buy a private punting for family from them..

The whole process was easy and stress free. We found the location point and waited 5 minutes to board. The experience was worth it. We loved hearing all the historical facts and trivia from our guide. The pace was leisurely and gave us ample opportunity to relax and enjoy the beauty of Cambridge and its structural forms. The weather was glorious too so it made our experience perfect. My 11 year old son loved it too! I’m really pleased we booked our tour as it gave us the opportunity to see the architecture of the colleges. I highly recommend.

What an experience! The stories, the history, the architecture! There’s just so much to take in, I think I might need another punting trip next time I’m in town! Make sure you get yourself a proper punting company, we saw a few fools out there trying to do it themselves… not the ideal experience! Thanks Traditional Punting for a great experience!

Very friendly staff who told tales of Turing, Hawking and other alumni etc. The punts are comfy enough for most people and the journey is very relaxed. Lovely way to spend an hour. Combine it with a visit to one of Cambridge's many and varied Museums to make a lovely day, interspersed with a spot of lunch at one of the many cafés.

Took our family and parents from Canterbury for their 50th Wedding Anniversary. It was a great experience. The guide/punter (sorry I'm rubbish with names!) was excellent - a great balance of historical information and humour - A fantastic morning on the River Cam. Thanks for making it a special day🙂

This punting tour of the Cambridge colleges was one of the highlights of my vacation in England! The views are spectacular, and our tour guide, Jack C. gave knowledgeable info about the bridges and buildings. Such a cool and relaxing experience. I HIGHLY recommend it! Booking was easy, and we got a text when our punt was ready to depart. LOVED EVERY MINUTE!!

Punting was honestly a staple on my Cambridge trip, and the weather was not an issue at all. It was quite chilly, but blankets were kindly provided, which really kept us warm. Our chauffer Mathias was very knowledgeable and provided us with an absolute ton of information regarding all the colleges and bridges we passed on the way. He was also very charming and threw some jokes around, which really made the punt feel personal. Overall, it was great service, a great experience, and a staple for anyone who is visiting or residing in Cambridge! Thank you so much! (If Mathias sees this, it is @h_anna.h._)

Yesterday evening my partner and i went punting for the first time on our trip to cambridge. It was lovely! Our tour guide on the boat was Lochlan (apologies if ive spelt your name wrong!) and he was brilliant. So enthusiastic, very polite and full of knowledge. We really did learn some interesting facts which were fun to hear! The boat ride was pleasant and calm. To book with this punting company was super easy, easy instructions too of how to find them and really helpful on the phone when booking too. Thanks for a lovely experience. We are infact going to bring the children back soon for them to have a go also!

Very enjoyable and unique experience. Our guide Lachlan was very knowledgeable and kept us entertained with all his many stories, especially his story about King Charles’s time at trinity college and the engineering students prank with the professors car at the bridge of sighs. There was also plenty of time for us to take in the scenery and enjoy our trip down the river cam. Would definitely recommend traditional punting Cambridge to anyone looking to go on a punting tour.

Perfect experience! More than we hoped for! Zack had great knowledge -current and historical - about the route and buildings and answered all our questions excellently. We had 3 children who will never forget the experience and cannot stop talking about it. He was respectful and funny and his historical knowledge was on point! Also nice to be guided down the river by a lovely nice man :)! Loved it!
