Disgraceful. Booked Ocean View and confirmed (visited room a few days prior) only to be told room under renovation when I checked in. Moved to old workers cabin. Went back when large group checked in that evening and General Manager was checking guests into my room that was “under renovation” - obviously bumped as she had more important guests. Don’t stay here! Dishonest. Consultants and Development Partners are better off at Ewa/Od’n Hotel.

Staff are very friendly, and will help you if they are able. I had three different appliances not working (oven, extractor fan, air-conditioning unit), so they had someone in right away (within a couple of hours for oven and extractor fan, and within the day for air-conditioning) to fix everything up and improve the electrical wiring. Understandable that appliances are not regularly serviced during a worldwide pandemic, as barely anyone is staying there (thanks covid). Amenities inside our suite were a fridge-freezer, oven/cooktop, microwave, TV, 2 air-conditioning units, a lounge suite with one large couch and two armchairs, a glass dining table with two chairs, a double bed (plus a single on request, which fit nicely into the lounge), one very large walk-through wardrobe, easily able to store all the bags our family of four travelled internationally with, a very large bathroom with two basins and mirrors on opposite sides of the room, and frosted glass obscuring the toilet and shower areas. There was a large empty area with plumbing installed, which looked like it could be home to a bathtub or washing machine. Hotel amenities include a small shop for household essentials right next to reception, open for a few hours a day, a bar with dance music (tiktok style, reggaeton music etc.) playing in the evenings, a laundry where you can get large double loads washed, dried and folded same day for $10, and a restaurant. There are also security guards on site. Downsides: no hot running water (however, it's warm enough that cold showers aren't horrendous), needing to walk up and down the small, steep stairs with a baby in stroller, and restaurant delays. Restaurant staff will sometimes be on their phones while you are waiting in front of them, and delay placing orders, or place them but others forget you have ordered food, so you may have to prompt them if you have been waiting a while. E.g. I was the only customer there in the middle of the day, yet waited 40 minutes for a plate of spaghetti bolognese. But all-in-all nice and comfortable stay, pleasant staff and very nice views of the ocean.

This place was built in 1968 and has undergone no upgrade since then and the only maintenance carried out has been to stop it from collapsing entirely. It is probably constructed from asbestos and is decaying badly. The staff have no idea what they are doing or how to do anything even if they wanted to. The staff also tend to steal from your room and the security staff do nothing and perhaps even help others steal from there also. This hotel is a decaying shell of what was once one of the most fancy French designed hotels in the Pacific, and is now one of the most run down and dangerous. This hotel is used by Australian workers from the detention centres for refugees and other foreign workers. Despite earning millions of Australian dollars per year, this hotel is used as a cash cow by the government of Nauru and any profits are not returned to fix this decaying hotel. Where it not for the attachment of Nauruans to this symbol of their past glory it would have been demolished long ago. While I was staying there a section of it caught fire and there was no fire alarm at all; I only found out later that there had been a fire when I walked past a huge burned down section the next morning - so I don’t give this 1 star rating lightly.

It's a place you can sleep.. I guess that the best thing. You need to be aware of power shortages on the island unless your in the camp of course.. it's an island with great potential but the mining companies have done so much damage that needs to be addressed.

If you want to die, then go stay there. It's filthy, and a container box. Rusty and moldy. No toilet paper, don't change the towel. And nothing onsite. First night I end up with peumonia and sick as a dog by staying there.

My experience at Menen Hotel was one of the best I ever had. I stayed in the hotel for a week and in that time the staff made sure I had the most amazing stay. To start off the vibe at the reception and the neighbouring store are very professional. They took great care of my bags and the store has everything you could possibly need. I was looking for some specific stuff and they got it for me the next day. The rooms are very spacious and clean with a good sized bed and with a big fridge filled with frest bottled water. The shower cabin was spacious too and the bathroom even had a washing machine. Considering the beach is right next to the hotel most of the rooms have an ocean view. My room was more towards to back but I had a great view on the tropical forest and was woken up daily by tropical birds coming to sit on my balcony. The food they serve is majestic! The breakfast is enormous and they always have fresh baked cake available should you want to snack during the day. Staff is so friendly and they help out with everything they can (I was having trouble connecting to the network). I came to Nauru for a competition and the Federation had a few events in Event Hall of the hotel. Staff served over 2 - 300 people without any problem and while the closing banquet lasted to 5AM by 7AM everything was spot on again. Besides all of that the barbershop of the hotel is really nice to visit and the pool has an amazing view over the ocean. We did hiking trips, visited old WWII sites and did a few jetski and boat trips all co-organized by the hotel that made my stay one to never forget! I really recommend this hotel! It's been one of the best expierences of my life! Thank you Menen Hotel!

A diamond in the rough, grows on you, an acquired taste. Often misunderstood by the traveling folk and loved deeply by locals or long staying foreigners. Throw out the brochure and forget what you've heard from other reviews. Go to the bar, have a beer.. or ten, talk to the locals. Your eyes will open to a different, warm and friendly culture.

Avoid Standard room at all cost!!!! Dirty room with bugs, skipped general cleaning. Would recommend Ocean View Room and Suites. Foods in the restaurant are overpriced. No Wifi provided. Power cuts at least 1 time per day. But i would say this is one of the best hotel you can stay in Nauru for visitors.

I stayed here when my Air Nauru flight was delayed 24 hours. Lodgings are basic but some rooms have stunning coastline views. I had no TV in my room, but I had a fridge and microwave. I had to pay for WiFi and the connection was slow. Try to avoid rooms facing the bar as it can be quite loud until midnight. The restaurant is just OK with tolerable portions.

It used yo be a luxury hotel during the good times but now it's a government accomodatuon for expats. Cleanliness is non existent and there were a lot of flies on all floors. But the best thing is the view from below. The property is situated next to the sea and you can relish the view of the sea during sun set while having your evening beer or tea

The biggest hotel on the island. Many of the expats that live on the island usually stay here. The prices for the rooms are expensive, but then again the rent anywhere on the island is quite expensive. You will find a bar, a restaurant and a souvenir shop here. The location of the hotel is beside the seaside, so it is quite nice. The restaurant's prices are very reasonable and the quality and taste of the food is nice, and you can book the restaurant's venue to host your own party, celebration or whatever. A lot of events happen here so you will most probably be here a lot when you're on the island! 😊😊

Only big hotel in Nauru. Very bad service and very over priced but due to lack of options, most visitors to Nauru stay here.

Unfriendly staff, roof was leaking, contant music running loudly from the construction part of the hotel, but this is the best option on the island

It's the oldest hotel on the island and constantly faces maintenance and structural issues. Nice dining area and the indoor/outdoor bar is a great place to chill, but the exterior along with the rooms needs a lot of work I reckon.

Lower your expectations - and it will be ok…. A good espresso in the morning, staff always friendly, take away food always ok, and ocean view was literally that… Tis run down…. But then - so is much else. Will I stay here again - sure….
