Terribly dissapointed! Super expensive "20€ per person" to look all the museum where only 2 things where really worthy, Spilliaert that was only 4€, some animation videos of an artist named Wendy where also interesting, but for the rest ... A whole floor dedicated to art brut which was average bad! Also something related with anthropology without any information!!! Senselessly presented! Not to pay that amount! And this instalation in red from the photo was the only that deserved closer attention. Not enough information or seats for the public to watch most of the videos bad attention. Second time in Belgium I pay so much for little quality art!

Right now it's the year of Ensor and this exhibition focuses on this.Bit outdated museum and I thought the exhibition wasn't well organized. But of course Ensor was a very important belgium painter so it's still a must if you are around.

Lovely James Ensor collection. Also enjoyed the contemporary and modernism rooms. Tickets were 15€ which include an extensive audio guide

Great and surprising building. Audioguide is for free and very handy. No need to follow a tour, just check audio for the pieces of art you like. Definitively worth dropping by. Refresh every 6 months

This building used to be the shop and headquarters of a cooperative organisation of Ostend. It now houses a museum for contemporary art and a collection of modernistic paintings. Very spacious building is an excellent alternative when weather suggest indoor activities. Audioguides available also for kids.

Good museum with some nice collections spread out over multiple spatious levels. Well organized and easy to reach. Fully equipped as you can expect from a museum this size (lockers, audio guides, reservation system etc). and with a bistro and shop. Extra points for the very helpfull staff!

Museum dedicated to Belgian art well worth the visit, definitely as a Belgian. There was a wonderful exhibition on Anna Boch while I was there. In a few months there will be a James Ensor exhibition I am sure will be a must-visit!

Very nice exhibition and nice story, yet the audio guide can’t be made more quiet, also the system with how you play the next thing is very weird and annoying

Excellent collection of modern art. We saw the Ensor and Belgian Still Life exhibit, and it was beautifully currated.

Great for special exhibitions (Anna Bloch end 2023 or Ensor (2024) but standard collection was not warranting the visit.

It's one of these museums where the previous exhibition has already finished, and you only see its catalogues in the museum shop, and the next exhibition is not there yet. I'm not sure I understood the logic of the permanent exhibition (spanning years from late 19th cent to mid-20th). A couple of paintings and applied art are quite good. The small exhibition on Raoul De Kayser is definitely worth a detour. A special thanks goes to the museum staff, who are extra nice and helpful.

Nice modern art museum at the otherwise ugly Belgian coast. Works by Permeke, Panamarenko, Ensor and others The displayed pieces from their permanent collection are changed regularly. Free audio guide with your entry ticket. Quite a few nice art galleries in the neighbourhood, and many street art works throughout the city, make this a great day out for lovers of modern art.

Somehow Mu.Zee is most impressiveI art museum in Belgium to me ( I have visited several larger museums in Belgium). Perhaps the unique atmosphere of the port town incited my travel emotions. anyway recommend!

Small but eclectic museum of modern art. Focus on artists from Belgium with outstanding works from Ensor, Spilliart and Permeke. Organisation of excellent and well-curated temporary exhibits.

Great museum: Well priced, lovely staff, great works,... You also receive a free audio guide that you can activate for the works/artists you want more info of.

This was the weirdest gallery experience of my life... We happened to turn up while a couple of floors were closed for the installation of new exhibitions and the place was empty, but two exhibitions were still on so we gave it a go. The Kinshasa one is great - definitely worth a visit with some really detailed pieces that were worth examining for ages, and a lot of artists exploring history and visions for the future in a wide range of media. The other exhibition was... Odd. The gallery doesn't seem to go in for explanations - so it was just big rooms full of pieces with no explanation and no context. Random things around the spaces and no directions as to where to go (we walked into a number of random dead ends). It felt like accidentally ending up behind the scenes at an abandoned museum. If you like the idea of a slightly disconcerting experience have a visit - otherwise you might want to make sure the other main galleries are open before visiting.

Went to see Anna Boch exhibition. €15 per person for a fairly small exhibition. I would say that’s a bit on the expensive side. Admittedly you can see everything else as well, however how often do you want go and see the permanent collection.

Interesting museum in a peculiar building, which used to be a mini shopping mall. The temporary exhibition about Anna Boch is not to be missed.

Very interesting and diverse collection of Belgian artists, nicely themed thorough an architectural interesting but chaotic setting.

Nice selection of art supported by a very informative audio guide. Strangely the whole setup was unfinished : just the wall framing but no walls. The otherwise lovely exhibition deserves better. Really enjoyed this selection of atypical Ensors.

A museum with a good collection of modern and contemporary art. They also host interesting temporary exhibitions. Definitely worth a visit as it has recently been renovated.

Excellent museum with a good wide selection of pieces covering different time periods. Nice to get an Ostend perspective too. The Raoul Servais selection was a highlight.
