It’s hard to go wrong with a zoo in kids’ minds. Is this one the biggest, coolest one you’ll go to? No, but my six-year-old daughter enjoyed it. Since we went on a Thursday morning in August during peak season, admission was higher than other months. It cost 260 CZK for both of us to go. Not a bad price for a potentially all-day outing. The zoo is spread out either long trails that go through woods. That means you’ll walk for minutes without seeing any animals. The animals themselves are organized around houses where you can walk inside to see them or venture outside since the cages expand to the outside in most cases. They have monkeys, hippos, giraffes, birds, fish, and all the other usual suspects. Where they stand out are the play areas throughout the zoo with the biggest playground being near the entrance. There are enough restrooms and snack areas.

Great place to visit: either with kids, the whole family or just by yourself. Plenty to see and to explore . One day it's not enough and I will definitely come back to see some stuff I was not able to check on my day of the visit. Apart from all the exotic animals and environment there is a playground for kids to have some fun and plenty of places to sit down and rest too. A lot of shops with food and drinks around the whole zoo. If you have never been here and you are around it is worth your time. Generally great place !

Very nice zoo with a lot of animals. I would recommend visiting in winter cous there are less people so you have more space to explore the area.

Stunning Zoo, unlike others we've seen so far. There are secluded quiet areas accessible by natural pathways, you can stroll between the trees and sit nearby the natural lakes. There are expositions with birds that you can enter and see the birds without any barriers. Beautiful playgrounds for kids as well. 5 stars.

Fantastic place for spending few Hours during weekend. Great variety of animals in beautifully arranged displays and green areas. Playgrounds and shaded areas are giving a break time during sightseeing. Some restaurants and snack bars (expensive). Greatly recommend for families.

(Translated by Google) The zoo is nice but it does not have a parking lot, you have to pay extra, according to the standard it is stated that each building should have a parking lot for a given number of people. There are a lot of people here and it's not good during the crown. The best places have overpriced stalls with things that do not match the price at all. When leaving, it is suffering for the parents because a bear that costs 300 in Poland costs 1,800 here and the child's cry is not worth it. I read the negatives but I must also praise for the children's corner and the ranch is something great. There are also very nice other exhibitions, but I don't like the gradual plucking of people at all. We buy a season ticket for the year because the zoo is for a lot of beautiful evening walks (Original) Zoo je pěkná ale nemá parkoviště musí se navíc zaplatit, dle normy vychází že každý objekt by měl mít parkoviště pro daný počet osob.

Outstanding, very good maintained and clean zoo which is managed by people with passion. Astonishing playground which can drag your kids into play for hours. This zoo is probably one of the best if not the only one worth visiting tourist destination. The only drawback is the parking - why in the world it isn't possible to pay by card? Good thing though that the parking guy accepts Polish zloty and Euro.

This zoo is huge, we spent 5 hours here. So much greenery, most of the time it felt as if walking in a forrest. Loved the red pandas. Would definitely recommend to visit. Lots of playgrounds for the kids, benches and water fountains everywhere. There are also lots of zoo maps along the pathways. You can save some time at the cashier by buying online tickets - they will scan the at the gate. Bus 104 goes to the zoo from the center, very easy to get there also by car, they have a large parking lot (i think it is paid).

A nice day out at the zoo with 3 kids and a baby, somewhat spoilt by the bad weather (not the zoo's fault) but the rude staff in the ticket office and the ones flying around the paths in the electric buggies (when there are small kids about). Still we enjoyed seeing what we could and some of the animals were really exciting for the kids Also felt you were a lot closer to them, in places, with bamboo poles used instead of perspex glass

Arrived to Ostrava Zoo and wanted to buy tickets. For some reason, my card did not work and the lady on a till started to roll her eyes when I said 'lets try another one'. Not particularly kind nor customer-greeting experience. Once we entered, it was Ok. The Zoo is really well kept, clean and tidy. Probably one of the best I have seen. It covers a very large area and part of it is closed due to further development.

In my view "garden with animals" would convey the experience which you get. Take the picking package and you will experience even more. Brilliant spot for the whole day with friends or family. If you desire time for yourself you will also find parts of the garden quiet and private.

A very nice and large zoo. Lots of trees, so the heat is not a problem. You can see here a beautiful and diverse plants and lots of animals and birds. A very good place for a weekend getaway. Ticket prices are okey. Parking at the zoo is paid.

What an amazing zoo! We went in the snow and it was so beautiful. It was like we hired it for the day ourselves. Lots of amazing animals that we didn't expect to see such as hippos and leopards. Some great play areas for the kids and some food and drinks stalls and vending machines dotted around the area. The hot chocolate in the machine by the entrance was also delicious. 10/10! Great price and a great day out!

Ostrava Zoo is a fantastic destination for animal lovers. The diverse collection of animals is impressive, and the enclosures are well-maintained. It's a great place for a family outing, and the interactive exhibits provide educational opportunities for all ages. The only downside is that it can get crowded during peak hours, so visiting during quieter times is recommended for a more peaceful experience.

It's a nice enough zoo worth to visit if you have some time when you go to Ostrava. There are many animals and plants from around the world, but nothing too surprising (except perhaps the red pandas). Regarding the food, it's the same as in other zoos in the Czech Republic; cheap and unhealthy but expensive. All in all, as I mentioned I think it's worth a visit, especially with kids, but adults can enjoy it too.

Very nice zoo, we especially liked the live comments when the zookeepers was feeding the animals. You have the opportunity to ask additional questions, zookeepers there are very nice.

It is a nice zoo to visit but it is quite small. Couldn't find some animals that were supposed to be rhere. I think due to some maintenance of their areas. Food places are not that great and it's a terribly long wait time before we were served (40min) u Pandy.

Very big ZOO, the best I've ever seen. A lot of attractions, good and close view to lot of animals. Really nice "green areas" and a lot of places where you can rest during visit. Available water dispensers. Comfortable parking.

Schöner, renovierter Zoo mit verschiedenen Routen für die Tier- und Pflanzenwelt, Teils mit der Möglichkeit in die Gehege rein zu gehen und die Tiere von Nahem zu sehen oder sogar zu streicheln. Ich komme gerne her.

Cheap price for a zoo of this size. Nice walk around, a lot of different animals to look at. The zoo is well decorated and has a nice atmosphere

We arrived at 16:00, which was 3 hours before closing time. Finding all cafeterias closed was a bit of a disappointment, especially since this was i July and should be in the high season. Many attractions were not available (reasons nor stated). The zoo did not appear to be vell maintained. Would not go back there.

Nice place to walk with the family and kids. You can observe different kinds of animals and birds, buy something to eat or drink. There are playgrounds for kids all along the way.

We liked it very much. It’s like zoo and botanic garden in the same place.

Good place to spend Sunday afternoon however do not expect a nice quiet walk since it's a little too overcrowded with lots of kids running around. It's obvious the place has gone through some renovation over the past few years and it's well maintained. Prices of food and drinks as expected are a little higher but still acceptable.

I like this place. It seems they put the animals first as much as they can. I wish some of the animals had more space though. However I am not an expert on animal enclosures so I might be wrong about that. There are several places for kids to play and many small shops for buying food and drinks. I also like that they have educational posters and activities along the trails.

One of the best facilities for preservation and education in Central Europe. Most animals have lot of space (maybe except the lions). Many czech visitors don't care about using mask as requested in the doors and there's no control at all. The zoo is big and there's a lot to watch. A whole day is recommended but can be done quick in about 3 hours without the botanical garden and other parts. Food offer is poor and unhealthy, take some fruits with you.👍

I love this zoo. It's very large and clean. The animals are amazing and the restaurant is good. I really like that there are a lot of trails in the forest. So even if you want to get away from the city and spend some nice time in the forest with some animals this is a great place for it. There is a petting zoo, American mini doughnuts, alcohol, and several snack bars. There is a nice train for 30CZK and there are many play things for children. It's easy to spend a whole day here and nothing is expensive at all.

  • 4/5 Miroslava K. 6 years ago on Google
Large enough to spend whole day here. Animals have a lot of space and you can get very close to some of them. Botanical garden is part of the zoo and interesting plants are marked everywhere. It can get a bit crowded during weekends, but it's still a beautiful experience. The garden is well organised and clean.

Nice zoo with a lot of animals and trees and a very big place to explore. The only bad thing was that they didn't answer to the phone and we couldn't see some animals because the zoo was under construction and they didn't say that in the entrance...Except from that the zoo was super and love the red panda's.

  • 3/5 Juka O. 2 years ago on Google
By the opinions I've read I would think it's a very friendly zoo for animals; that theirs cages are big and spacious, well kept and tidy. Tbh I was quite disappointed with what I saw and would not visit it anymore. Nice way to spend time but if you care at least a bit about animals it's not a place you would sponsor. Tickets are cheap, there are some coffee shops and a restaurant in there, lots of WC and an extra paid, short safari route by one of the runs.

Came from Ireland on holiday. Staying in Ostrava. Decided to go to zoo. It was a lovely day. The goats and the quineypigs were the highlight as you could feed and play with them.

Loved all the extra planting. Now a botanical park as well. Missed seeing the hippos, rhino's and Giraffes but glad to see more improvements being made to give them new homes in the future. This has lots of play facilities for younger kids so loads to do as well as see.

Great and pretty big zoo, with parts to have a little quiet walking. A lots of animals, flowers, trees etc, restaurants. Also lots of educational signs with texts in Czech, English and Polish.

  • 4/5 John R. 1 year ago on Google
This zoo is a nice visit, especially with kids. Most signage and information is available in Czech and Polish, with nothing or very little in English (and often too garbled in translation to make sense of) and no other languages visible at all. Nonetheless, there's a good variety of animals to see and lots of playgrounds. Some of the enclosures do seem a little small, so one how's that the animals are happy and well-stimulated.

  • 3/5 Ben E. 1 year ago on Google
Good range of animals from across the earth. Some of them seemed stressed however. There wasnt enough enrichment for some of the animals.

Really large zoo with a lot of attraction specially for kids. During holiday a lot of people there, but in large area of zoo no problem. Parking is under reconstraction and P3 is so far away from entrance cca 1km...

I love this zoo. It's so beautiful. The animals are well looked after and have good enclosures and you can stroll all over and find millions of surprises. Maybe my favorite zoo to have a season pass to.

  • 5/5 David P. 1 year ago on Google
One of the best zoos you will ever visit. Excellent variety of animals, from lions to fish, elephants to birds, and pretty much everything in between. Most of the animals are accommodated in large enclosures, in which they can roam relatively freely, and they appear to be well looked-after and happy, especially the elephants. Be prepared for lots of walking, but plenty of space meant it never felt crowded. Kids will love it (there's a petting zoo with sheep and goats), as will their parents. A very welcome surprise and contrast to the mining/industrial town of Ostrava, which has clearly seen better days.
