Spent the day here for the "Costa Maya all inclusive Beach Break" during a stop on a Royal Caribbean cruise. There was 4 of us total, and we had a fantastic time. Highly recommend it. You end up taking a taxi (paid for by the resort), about 20-25 minutes away from the hustle and bustle of the city. We were warmly greeted by Mike, who, along with the other staff, took awesome care of us. This place is in the middle of nowhere, and along with just a few other resort guests, we were the only people there. It was quiet, no kids, and we had the whole place nearly to ourselves. On arrival we set up a general time to eat, along with a time for the cab driver to return to pick us up. There's plenty of space on the beach to lounge, either in the sun or under shade. We had to drag a couple chairs and tables to a spot we wanted, but it was no problem. Don't be fooled by the small bar area, or the lack of photos of it online. The beer was cold, plentiful, and the drinks were awesome. Fresh fruit, fresh coconut, blended or on the rocks, all with purified water/ice. No concentrated cheap mixers here. Easily the best/freshest pina colada I've ever had. Bartender came out to us multiple times to make sure we were taken care of, and was fantastic. Lunch was awesome, more than enough food. A nice mix of fresh guacamole and different selections of freshly made tacos. They have a dipping pool as well, which was a little cold in January, but the ocean was a great temp. The beach was quite clean, which was a minor concern I had when booking. A little bit of seaweed on the beach, but no issue swimming, wading, or being in the water at all. Can't say enough good things about this place, and highly recommend to anyone who wants a beach day with unlimited drinks in their own space away from the hustle and bustle of the port. Thanks again to Mike and all other staff, this was the best part of our vacation.

We visited here for the day when our cruise ship stopped in Costa Maya. The hosts were so warm and welcoming, and the location was stunning. Our group of seven included my teenager, two college students, and my mother in law who is in a wheelchair. The hosts were so kind to help my MIL navigate around. The drinks were made to order with fresh fruits. The meal they cooked was absolutely delicious. We loved exploring the beach, swimming in the pool, and lounging around this wonderful resort. There was a lot of seaweed in the water but we were able to navigate around it and still explore a bit of the coral reef. I would say this is always a possibility so don't necessarily come expecting Cozumel water! This place has its own amazing beauty... truly a relaxing experience that was worth every penny.

Don’t even want to leave any stars. Horrible place. We paid $96 each plus $10 extra for a “front row seat” on the beach. This resort claimed to have a clean beach ( it was covered in kelp), there was no one there so why did we need to pay for front row seating? They said we could snorkel. The water was so murky we wouldn’t have seen anything. We discovered all of this AFTER arriving in a taxi that traveled over 100 mph. The accommodations were appalling. We explained to the manager we felt we were dupped and he said he would give us our money back with the exception of $35. We asked for something in writing and we were refused. When we returned home we were refunded only $110 after we paid $212. Dishonest all the way around. As we were leaving, another couple came in and had the same reaction as we did. They asked for their money back too.

My husband and I chose Almaplena for the day while we were cruising. They all inclusive price was perfect - drinks, lunch, and transportation to and from the cruise ship were included. The beach was covered in sea grass but the owner was so apologetic, he offered us a refund if we didn’t want to stay. We stayed anyway and loved it. Sea grass is an all-over ocean problem, not just Almaplena, so we were still happy to stay with all their other amenities (cocktail pool, palapas, great service.) The best part is that there was only ONE other couple with us - we had the resort to ourselves on a random Tuesday. Thank you, Almaplena, for the perfect relaxing day!

Incredible beach hotel, just as you would imagine it. On a white beach full of palm trees, super sweet and comfortable rooms, everything about this place is magical. Nice and attentive staff, great food & drinks - for the competitive price anything you can expect. Way off the beaten track, chilled out music and people, which is great if you want to relax. Getting to town and back is a bit far, but you probably won't want to leave anyway 😉

Nice place in the middle of nowhere. Chilled terrace with pool. Food OK. Amazing view onto the ocean. However I can’t understand why they only clean the seaweed from directly in front of the hotel, 100m further it piles up and rots away, sometimes smells.

a piece of paradise, far from everything .. and that's good. A wonderful service, enjoyed it very much and can recommend it very much!

Beautiful interior design, unique to the property. Peaceful and quiet retreat tucked away in nature. Things are a bit slower paced, restaurant service ... but your on vacation to enjoy yourself. Dinner, and breakfast were very good. Pool is nice to look at, not much for getting in though. Hotel is right in front of the beach. Very quiet area. Not highly recommended for kids as there is not much to do for them.
