Hubby and I attended the kino festival monthly social held at this royal oak location. It’s a great spot for socials as they can rope off a section for your group and you get that intimate feeling. Service to our members was superb and the design of the section allowed easy mingling. We were pleasantly surprised but usually we both flake out and end up in a corner all by ourselves. As I said, the design gave everyone the chance to move around and socialize without disrupting the entire venue. We shared a simple plate of very tasty poutine. The gravy was extremely tasty and the cheese seemed to be the real article— something that is sometimes lacking. We will surely attend more if these events .

I walk into this location not knowing anything about it. I was just looking for a place to have something to lunch. Well I had a great experience from this pub. When i think about a pub the decore of this location is what I envision. Food and service were great. I ordered a cheese Philly stake with fries. The sandwich was great the fries were perfect. I hate when business give you half burned fried pre-blanched. Likely here they serve well cooked fries golden crisp. The guy at the bar, I think his name was Alex, was friendly and helpful. Great experience go try it out!

Unfortunately, we couldn't get into the karaoke area right away due to the crowd, but we were more than happy to grab a booth and dine while waiting for a table. Eventually, one became available and we moved. This is where things took a turn for the worse. After relocating, we noticed a significant change in the demeanor of our waitstaff. Both servers became increasingly abrupt and short-tempered, and it was unclear what prompted this shift in attitude. Your typical run of the mill pub offering good eats and drinks. Service was excellent. Food was good and plentiful. It’s a nice large spot right in the heart of Ottawa able to accommodate large groups. Staff is very pleasant and accommodating.

First we had nachos for an appetizer. Was very tasty. Then my partner had the Winchester sandwich with poutine on the side. He absolutely loved it all! I had the maple glazed salmon with sides of basmati rice and veggies. It was mouthwatering. Only thing I would have added was a side of tartar sauce but I'm weird like that lol! For beverages we had strawberry daquiris and Molson Canadian draft. Obviously very delicious and the perfect accompaniment for the kareoke party that started at 9. Was a full house and there is definitely a lot of untapped talent in the clientele. An amazing evening with many memories made. I wish I remembered our severs name but she was fabulous 💜👌

Service and ambiance were just fine but food is always blend and overpriced. 19$ for chicken wings is never competitive and gravy portion way too cheap in their sausages meal. Will go back as colleagues enjoy this place but food is just not worth it… 62$ for this meal and a pint, I’ll let you judge if it worth it!

Lovely pub with a great patio tucked around the corner and off the street. Great food, really friendly and professional service. I always make a point of stopping in when I'm in town on business

I’m a long-time customer of the former Ottawa U location, Kent St. and Bank St. Usually the food is outstanding (best wings in town by far). I have no idea what happened tonight. I ordered a chicken Quesadilla, which is as easy to make as a grilled cheese sandwich. The tortillas on the outside weren’t even cooked! It follows that all the internal ingredients weren’t cooked either. The cheese wasn’t even melted. When I picked up a quarter, all of the cold ingredients came spilling out. It was literally inedible. And I’ll eat just about anything. No seasoning, no flavour, not cooked. 1/5. Thankfully the $70 worth of booze made up for it. Do better guys.

Good food, good beer, good atmosphere. Delicious food and smooth Guinness, what more can you ask for? Came from FL to see what Ottawa had to offer and was not disappointed. Absolutely will be back. 10/10

It was disconcerting a bit to see how the restaurant was not that busy at lunchtime. Obviously, since COVID, things have changed 🙄. I noticed the prices are quite high for what they serve you. For example, the grill chicken in my sandwich was half the size it used to be. The portions have been reduced, and the price increased. Everybody pays for this tough time. 🤔 Our server was attentive and courteous. I guess I have mixed feelings about my visit. Would I go back? Maybe.

I love the atmosphere, the delicious food, the friendly staff and best of all, the prices. They have a great menu! In all the chaos, it was nice to sit with a cold drink and enjoy some peace! I applaud Harrison for keeping it that way!

Classic pub where is ideal to share with friends. A fair selection of beers to chose from. The sirloin was excellent and in its perfect point. Service was charming and friendly. Prices are reasonable. An excellent choice for drinks

I was witness to racial profiling at this establishment. A black man ordered a glass of the best wine available and was immediately requested to pay. I had been sitting down with a beer, unrequested to pay, for at least 10 minutes. Upon my inquiry as to why this fellow was to pay immediately, I was met with hostility by an un-seasoned young bartender. Before I knew it all hostility was thrust upon me by the establishment. I would avoid this bar by all means necessary based on a lack of professionality and common human decency.

Awesome seasonal drinks, atmosphere and appetizers. Well located, just south of Office district / Parliment / Sparks Street. Just North of Bank Street shopping and services. Great for 5@7, Or Lunch, or anytime.

Really good poutine(just the right amount of curds) and draft beer. I am an american who visits Ottawa often but hasnt really hit any of the bars and i just wanted a laidback place to drink beer, blend in and people watch and catch some Hockey. This fit the bill

Had a great time at this restaurant. The food was tasty and filling and the waitress was super nice. It was a bit more quiet and laid back.

Love the patio, great staff and a fish and chips that will lure you back for more! The digital menu works well. This place has it going on! Clean and classy.

I went for lunch with a friend during the week, and the service was super fast. I got the fish and chips - loved the portions, and the food was good! Solid place to go for a quick lunch if you work in the area.

Delicious food served quickly. Server was fantastic — very friendly and engaging. Nice, relaxed ambiance. Did get a bit too loud towards the end, but not their fault — just a boisterous crowd.

I organized a retirement party of one of our colleagues at the Royal Oak. Everything went smoothly and well and I want to thanks the employees and the management of Royal Oak for that. They had a great selection of draught beer and the appetizers were very good. We also received a great service from our waitress (pink/purple hair). A very pleasant venue located right next to our office.

The food is great and consistent, particularly their brunch. Staff are always friendly and attentive. The wine and beer options leave something to be desired but overall its a great pub to frequent any day of the week.

Bring back the Reuben! We come here for trivia on Tuesdays. The place has overall pretty mediocre food. The wings are alright, the crispy chicken sandwich is good. I would never recommend the burgers. Best thing on the menu for me by far was the Reuben sandwich and they just got rid of it. I cannot express my dismay. PS: Brittany is a rockstar and deserves a raise.

Perfect bar to unwind at after work with a great selection of beers that are priced reasonably! The staff are all very friendly and give quick service. Keep up the good work, I'll continue being a regular here since it's steps away from my apartment!

We ordered from this location through uber eats. The bottom bun on the classic burger was all soggy from the pickle and the fries were ok. They have gluten free buns!

I stopped here for a quick drink and ordered a daiquiri. It was the biggest drink I've ever seen. It was amazing! The staff here are super friendly and quick to serve. The prices for food aren't bad either.

Was in town for work and stopped here with a local friend who recommended it. Food was hot, tasty and delivered fast. The wait staff were super attentive and made sure our drinks never ran dry! 4/5 because the bathroom is at the bottom of a huge staircase and wasn't the cleanest Overall good experience and will likely be back to try some more of their food

I definitely would not recommend to order takeout from this location. It was my first and last time with this pub. My partner ordered salmon with rice and vegetables for me. Overall I can say it was just food. Not delicious, not tasty. I don’t understand how someone can fail with salmon, it’s the easiest fish to bbq. Rice was dry and tasteless. Vegetables looked like they were out of the fridge for 3 days and then someone put them into my order. Definitely not recommend!

Very warm and welcoming staff. The food was slow because they were overworking due to the blackout. But the waiters were very kind and friendly. I would definitely come back here the next time I visit Ottawa.

Exactly as expected even better. The hostess was friendly. Food was totally acceptable for a pub. Drink prices are reasonable. Open on Sunday afternoon even in winter.

First time here for both my partner and I. Spacious, with a nice atmosphere. Service was pretty good except when we stepped out for my partner to go for a smoke, and the waiter immediately took food away when we weren't done eating. Anyways we ordered pitas bread with dip and deep fried cheese curds which were delicious! I would say my experience here was pretty good!

We had lovely waitress there, their drinks are a little bit more expensive that it should be, the food was good and tasty, we tried fish and chips (Friday special) and the sausage one.

Random turns out a wild success story ! We walked in here because otherwise we would have fainted . The soup of the day was mushrooms and warming . The fries were cut to perfection. Well Royal oak , we met some friends here , and we learned that this is the hang out place for the members on the softball league. It was great meeting you guys!

Showed up at 8:30. It took 30 minutes to be asked for drinks and they didn't even ask if we wanted food after we had drinks for 20 minutes. They only cared about the drunk middle aged men at the bar who were ordering constant drinks (they close at 2am).

Love the food and service here, it's one of our top places to grab a drink and some food. Their Philly cheese steak sandwich is yummy and I love their deep fried cheese curds ( sorry didn't get a picture of them)
