We sat on the second floor by the window overlooking the Byward market so the view was great. The staff were friendly and attentive, basically what you should be expecting. We were allowed to sample a couple of the different beers before we decided on which we wanted, which helped make it that more enjoyable. The fish and chips were some of the best I've tried and when I go back I will be ordering it again. So overall, great atmosphere, staff and food, which is a reason you need to add this place to your list of restaurants/bars to visit in Ottawa.

Average food as pub foods, nothing special. But the ambiance is great, old style pub; very good for groups. If you don’t drink then not a special place for food only. Customer service was not good, but you have to pay 18% as tips.

Nachos had barely any cheese, a few tablespoons of sporadically placed toppings on 35 tomatoe sauced soggy nacho chips for $27 bucks (with tip and tax ridiculous). Kids pizza was just not good by any standard, my kid literally spit it out. I tried it, didn't disagree with him. I'm positive the jug of red sangria jug had a total of one glass of wine in it. The waiter was awesome, only reason for 2 star. Sorry worst meal we had in Ottawa by a long shot.

The nachos were best and delicious 😋😋😋 must must try. The ambience was okay. The service was great. Would definitely come here again for just nachos. Overall it was good place to hang out with friends and family and have fun at table.

We saw some reviews raving about the seafood chowder and we had to come and check it out for ourselves... It definitely lived up to the expectations and even surpassed them! I would definitely say that you arrive with enough time though. We had to wait roughly 30 minutes for the seafood chowder because they had run out. Our server explained that this usually doesn't happen, but I'd suggest to plan in advance if this is the one thing you want to try. We also had the mahi mahi tacos and they were amazing. Our server, Aoife, was attentive and helpful. We will be definitely coming back!

One of my favourite pubs to visit in the market. I’m always so pleased with the customer service and the food. Great spot for a patio either on the first or second level. This time I went with Smoked Gouda Burger with the garden salad. It was delicious! I will continue to keep coming back.

I stopped here for a quick drink and bite to eat today. The service was fast and did a very good job as far as the Market goes. I ordered the summer sausage plate and it did not disappoint. Generous amount of diced and sauteed vegetables came with the plate. Good experience, would go back again.

I loved the ambiance in this Irish pub. The view from outside, first or second floor, is incredible. Just looking at people enjoying life at Byward market. The food was good in quality and quantity, I enjoyed fish & chips and their cocktails. Service was good as well.

I would recommend this place 100%! We asked to be seated on the top patio. Such an amazing spot to have lots of food and some drinks. Their food was perfectly and deliciously done. Our server was superb, attentive and lovely. The vibe was relax. A band played live from 8 pm and topped off our experience. Ordered the Herbed Spinach Dip to start, which I could have had 3 of those! For our entrees, we had the Atlantic Salmon and Pork Chop and cannot complain at all! Kids menu a bonus for our little one. Will be our first stop the next time we hit Ottawa.

Love the atmosphere, the staff, the waitress we had was amazing. Food is always great. One of my favorite places in the market to go. The entertainment was fantastic. My meal was the spicy chicken Curry and it was so tasty and not over the top spicy it was perfect.

(Translated by Google) After having dined in a nearby restaurant, we decide to continue our evening in this establishment. First order: an overpriced pint of Stella, and 2 badly dosed jaggerbombs. We then dare to try a mojito. And there is the drama: the mojito tastes of bleach (and it is nicely said), not sweet, and decorated with a single mint leaf. Honestly, a glass of lemon-flavored dish soap would have done the trick. We come out sober, disappointed, and the wallet much lighter. On a more positive note, the atmosphere was great, and the staff very friendly.

I’ve been there a few times and two elements are always perfectly present: quality and tasty food as well as a friendly service. It is always a pleasure to be hosted by the wonderful employees that are welcoming and helpful with your questions about the menus. The food is tasty and served in good amount. You can also find a large variety of drinks and beers at this location; what a great mix to make your food experience a better one! I would definitely recommend this location.

I had a truly memorable experience at this restaurant, thanks to their beautiful balcony view. While the food wasn't exactly what I was expecting, it was still alright. The lady who helped us order our drinks did an excellent job, and we were not disappointed with her recommendations. Overall, I enjoyed everything about this place and look forward to visiting again soon. If you're looking for a great view and a nice drink, I definitely recommend checking it out.

The atmosphere of the restaurant was cozy and inviting, and the staff was friendly and attentive. Amazing place to go for casual drinks since it’s got an amazing cozy vibe inside, especially during Christmas time with their lights. However… food was mediocre for the price. The spinach dip was good but it tasted more like cream cheese as opposed to your average spinach dip (they do have unlimited refills on nacho chips for the dish). The braised rib was tender but a little lacking on the flavour of sauce. The Irish stew however was pretty tasty, but overall I’ve had better at other restaurants.

This was the first bar I went to when I landed in Ottawa. It has VERY well priced beers and even though I didn't order any food all the food I did see being served looked and smelled amazing!! I got some of the house lager which was like $5, big pint and was pretty good beer. I came on a Sunday and there was some live music as a gentleman was covering some classics from red hot chili peppers and supertramp. It's located on a corner by the market so you can people watch while you sit by the widows. The server was nice and brought my beers in a timely fashion. I'd recommend this bar for a quick beer or three if you're nearby!

Ok place in byward market. Nice outside patio. Food was ok, not bad but not great. Bangers and Mash are not sausages, but like a sausage patty but was ok. Average pricing. Service was ok.

Nice spot for drinks. Ended up also ordering onion rings although we had just eaten but they looked so good!! Did not dissapoint. Service was really good too! I was a bit cold at some point and had a nice cup of tea. Place was really busy and noisy but it is what you can expect for a pub.

This place is so inviting or shall I say their flowers made me dine-in but surprisingly they don’t just have a nice atmosphere they have good food as well. We got the spicy chicken curry with herb rice and it was really good. I strongly recommend this place.

Delightful pub in the middle of the Byward Market. Great service and good food. The homemade Tomato soup was delicious. We stayed light with a shared appetizer Nachos. Great indoor and outdoor seating with a very nice ambiance.

A typical english/Irish pub. Nice ambience and average service. The food options are good. We had the Cajun wings and BBQ shirt rib nachos which were both good. If they can improve their service standards it would be a great place to have few drinks with Friends.

Pleasant with the hanging flower baskets and balconies. Wonderful location for people watching. Very friendly service. Loved my fish and chips. Restaurant had run out of bangers and mashed the day before so wife had ordered the seafood fettuccine. Giving 4 stars instead of 5 for this.

Very nice pub style restaurant with seating on two levels some inside and some outside. Service was prompt, friendly, and food was very good. Day was extremely nice to be outside for a beverage.

Neat little pub in the heart of Byward Market Ottawa. We were seated quickly and given a great place on the patio, there are some cool patio tables on the 2nd floor too. Service was friendly and prompt, no complaints. Prices seemed fair for the area and representative of the food served. My partner loved the veggie burger and fries, I however found the wings really tough and overcooked, they were okay but I would not recommend. A huge pet peeve of mine at any restaurant is when the website menu does not match the restaurant menu. Here, some items online were not on the real menu. I get changes happen, but some folks pick your restaurant based on your menu online and for me, it's really bad practice not to keep that updated.

The waiter was cool and nice and I only had sweet potato fries and non-alcoholic Beck's. I'll probably review again later after a proper meal. Oh I forgot about the live music. I wish it wasn't so loud or that the equipment transmitted the sound better. I'm sure the musician was good but it was uncomfortable listening.

The fish and chips are absolutely heavenly. The breading is perfect and not too thick, the house made tartar sauce couldn't be better and even the coleslaw had a super unique and memorable flavor that made it stand out. The location is great to have a bite to eat and people watch the interesting assortment of people in byward market, you could even say dinner come with a free show if you're at a window seat 😉

This restaurant is very vibrant located in the heart of the market. The service is a bit slow. I ordered nachos and the did not bring the guacamole I paid an extra $4 for until more than half way through my meal. The food itself was okay, but definitely worth the price. I would recommend getting a sangria pitcher if you go.

  • 5/5 Rawad E. 1 year ago on Google
Amazing wings, fries, and great staff. Tried the Cajun wings and they were excellent. Good size, nicely cooked, and excellent flavour. They are on the expensive side ($18/lb). The fries were very good as well. Crunchy on the inside, and moist on the inside. Great place to hang out.

  • 4/5 Chantal K. 1 year ago on Google
We came here for lunch and sat outside which was lovely. The location is great in the middle of vibrant Byward market, if you sit outside or on the second floor balcony you can watch the vibe. We were seated fast considering the place was crowded, service was satisfactory, waiters were friendly, helpful and smiling. . Food presentation, quantity and price were good. Minimum tip is 18%, Taxes are 13% Ordered Chicken wings with buffalo sauce, they were really good, crispy, not chewy and not oily, one of the best i had in ottawa. The fish and chips breading was crispy, not too thick and not too oily, the fish was moist and tasty; comes with a nice homemade tartar sauce and a coleslaw (the coleslaw is not really good, tastes like just shredded cabbage), the fries were great, yellow, not oily, and big. Also had the swiss mushroom cheese burger, and it was really delicious, the best i have had so far in several Canadian cities. No parking, you have to find a street spot or use the rideau mall paid parking. A recommended pub/restaurant to visit 👌🏼

Nice atmosphere and good food. We were seated promptly upstairs in the corner balcony. Great views of the Byward Market. The server recommended a few beers that were absolutely delicious (Kaitlin S), and the food quite tasty. The onion rings I'd highly recommend, the dipping sauce was delicious. I had the bacon cheeseburger and had only a small complaint that it was a tad bit dry. But its almost impossible to get a burger cooked medium-rare. Overall a good experience and delicious food. Our server Kaitlin was very polite and friendly. Knew the menu well and suggested two great beers 🍻. I would eat there again! Onion rings (starter) 2 burgers with salad (mains) 6 beers (3 each) $99.34

We love this place in Byward Market. It's a classic pub inside but has a huge beautiful terrace on 1st and 2nd floor. Big variety on the menu. Separate kids menu. Our 3yr old got the cheese fingers which he liked a lot. I ordered the guiness bbq burger but got the wrong burger... quickly got a new one with time updates from waiter which was much appreciated. Bacon was a bit overcooked and burger itself a bit dry. Hubs got chicken club which he liked. Very good sangria.

I'll start by saying this is probably one my favorite pubs in the Byward Market and on a given day I would give it 5 stars. I've visited on many occasions with friends and colleagues and I've never had any issues with the service or staff. However, I was in briefly this evening (around 6pm Dec. 8/20 2nd floor bar) for just a quick pint and I was appalled by the level of service of this particular bartender (young maybe mid-to-late-20s). He was very short and unwelcoming with me and beyond that disrespectful, both to myself and my partner. Further, he was very passive aggressive and condescending. If I'm totally honest, I regret even giving him a tip and I'd even like to know his work schedule so I know when not to go.

Great food and view, and every dish stood out from the rest. However: two problems 1. There were constantly wasps flying around on the balcony. 2. My dish was placed in the middle of the table, far from my reach instead of right in front of me.

Drinks were great, friday night vibe is awesome, dessert was bad, service was VERY BAD! Our server Kaitlin came to table extremely slowly, needing us to make eye contact with her in an attempt to let her know we were ready for more drinks. We also did not finish our dessert because it was a nearly ice cold chocolate cake (??) and she didn’t even ask us how it was even though we only took 2 bites out of it! Very nice on Friday nights, but I hope you don’t get a terrible server like her!

  • 2/5 Rob F. 3 years ago on Google
Dropped in for breakfast. Usually you pick two from between Good, Fast and Cheap - this place was none of those things. The staff looked like they were trying but 35 minutes to get a coffee and another 35 to get the meal. According to other reviews this place is better for night time drinks, wouldn't recommend for breakfast. Edit after response from owner: Does [email protected] not know how to look at Google reviews for his own business? Or perhaps you do not know how to send a link to this review? FYI, I don't want Joey to do anything for me, I posted this review to save the next person from a negative experience.

This is by far my favorite bar. The service is fantastic, the beer is always cold and the food is absolutely delicious. Top it off with great music, live and off a playlist, and its a great way to spend your afternoon with friends or just by yourself to enjoy a pint.

I’m just gonna start saying I’m not a big fan of pubs, so I’ve always avoided trying this place in the byward. Today, I decided to give it a try to have some bites with a sangria and I loved the place. It wasn’t that busy and we got to seat around the balcony. It was very calm and the breeze was really good. Service was great and food was delicious. We didn’t got any main plates it was only the baked brie with the poutine. Did not disappoint. Their drinks menu is pretty big . We also got a pitcher of white sangria and it was very yummy . I recommend going more for drinks and some to share plates.

This place was great! The food was amazing, we got the veggie burger and chicken bacon wrap and they were both unbelievable. We ordered the bruschetta to start and it came out within minutes of us ordering, surprising for how busy it was. The food was incredible and so were the drinks, sangria in particular. Our waitress was very nice and attentive, we didn’t have to wait for any of or service. Overall, the place has some of the best pub food around! 100% recommend

Really delicious food. Great location and atmosphere. The summer flowers pots are really beautiful. The server was friendly but he forgot 2 items from our order so we had to keep asking for things, that's why I've deducted one star. A really good choice for a meal and drinks in Ottawa.

I visited the Pour House for dinner only. They offer a wide selection of Irish and general pub fare at a pretty reasonable cost, considering the proximity to downtown Ottawa. The most standout element, to me, was the amazing service. I interacted with many staff members and they were uniformly courteous and accommodating!

We were seated on the upper level with a great view of the hustle and bustle below. We ordered our food and drinks which came promptly. I had the curried chicken and chips. My wife had the fish and chips. Portions were generous and the prices were good. The food was very good and the portions were generous. I went for the spicier version of the curry and it was great. The server advised that it wasn't overly spicy and she was right. The beer selection is good. My wife opted for the sangria and ordered the pitcher..... which I helped with. Overall a very pleasant dining experience. The street musicians below were the icing in the cake. I strongly recommend a late lunch on the second level.
