We had a fabulous dinner at Beckta! Everything from the greeting to putting on our coats was seamless And provided an amazing experience. The hosts were extremely friendly and welcoming and seated us at a great table with view of city hall. We were warmly greeted by Justin and we decided to do the tasting menu with wine pairings. The service was impeccable and was nice to see a restaurant conducting proper table service. Justin explained every dish and every wine like he made them himself, he knew every detail and was confident on every answer to our questions. Fantastic guy and even better server. The food was also exceptional. While not every dish was our taste, the creativity and love on the plate was apparent with every dish. 3/5 courses were incredible, 1 was decent, and 1 just wasn’t a meat we care for. The chefs clearly take a lot of pride in their work and it shows! Overall an amazing experience and we will be back. Thank you!

Dinner here 2 days was absolutely fantastic. We ordered cold smoked shrimp, grilled octopus, smoke cylindra beet steak and biscuits. All items were fresh, with great taste and excellent presentation. The beet steak was divine! Biscuits were the best I have ever had in a restaurant. We will definitely return to Beckta. Thanks Justin for great service!

Wait staff and atmosphere were 5/5 excellent, however we expected more from the food. The presentations were all awesome. The scallops were overcooked/rubbery, however the sauce was tasty. We wish that the horseradish would have been available on the side for the beef tartare as it overpowered the dish and it was hard to taste anything else. Additionally, another option other than salty chips as a vessel for the tartare would have been preferred as well. We ordered a medium sirloin that we had to send back as it came out rare. They were apologetic and the second rendition came out perfect. It was very yummy. The lamb shank looked impressive, however, the flavours fell flat for us and it was a bit of a drag to finish. The dessert really shined. I forget what it was called, but absolutely amazing. Thank you!

5 course tasting menu is well worth the money and very filling. The Hen was cooked perfectly. Juicy, moist with a nice crispy skin. Absolutely delicious. Waiters were very professional and brought each meal in a timely manner. Definitely a place I would like to go back.

Their reputation stands out. But tonight was special and beyond my expectations. A health issue has come with many dietary restraints, which makes it hard to eat out. Our server Amanda, coordinated masterfully with the kitchen, to make sure there were options that wouldn't make me sick (ever at a table with a large group of people). The meals are always special at Beckta, of course, the wine cellar admirable, but tonight the service pushed it over the edge. During a rough time, they made tonight very special. So grateful. Must try! It's a majestically beautiful experience.

We went for dinner on June 30th to celebrate my daughter's high school graduation and my birthday. This building is very unique and shows the charm of history. Cocktails (non-alcoholic) and desserts are great, and the combination and decoration of the dishes are full of French romance , it looks so pretty and delightful .But unfortunately the steak tartar and vegetables in flat scallops were unbelievable salty. So it definitely wasn’t a perfect experience

Came here for special occasion. We ordered 2 drinks. Was not very impressed by drinks frankly speaking. The ambiance is amazing, the staff is very kind and helpful. We ordered 3 dishes. The mushroom dish for starters and we asked the shef to replace the porc broth with some vegetarian option and he did a really good job on the dish we loved it. Had a chicken dish which was very ordinary, it didn't amaze me. The salmon was good. I know it was fine dine but I was really expecting more in terms of flavor. Was very satisfied with the ambiance and the service we got but for the price I paid for the food I was really expecting more.

Very nice atmosphere, private. Feels like a home with different rooms and just a few tables in each room. We were upstairs near a fireplace and a window with only 2 other tables. Ribs were good but didn't come with potatoes. Came with a different type of mushrooms that I personally didn't like. Wine was excellent.

For a hotel restaurant I thought that the breakfast here was lovely. Lots of great items to choose from, the food was hot when it arrived and the service was strong too. I even got refills on my hot water for my tea without asking! It made for a nice quiet place to have a meeting and discussion while we ate. I would return.

This was an unplanned visit when my wife and I were looking for a restaurant open on Wednesday at 5:30 pm. We had a wonderful experience. The food was outstanding and so was the service. We shared the oysters, sourdough bread, and an order of bao. Everything was so tasteful, fresh, and wonderful. It is fine dining, so the price is a little more that your average restaurant bill but certainly worth the price. Highly recommend when you want to take that extraordinary person in your life for an extraordinary experience.

My fiance and I went for our anniversary dinner and needless to say, it was definitely one of the best meals we’ve ever had. We chose the tasting menu and every item was delicious. The service was beyond exceptional and they even brought us a glass of champagne at the beginning to wish us happy anniversary. Strongly recommend for a special night out.

Can't get enough Beckta. Wow. Every dish makes you say mmmmm. Each dish has balanced flavours, nothing dominates on a plate, and everything comes together fabulously. Their dishes have such great texture combinations as well. You can have such a variety of combinations of food based on what you put onto each forkful and it's all so delicious. Did their chef's tasting menu. Everything was fabulous. Salad, soft shell crab, duck, dessert. Consistent, high quality, wonderful service, and such a fantastic experience when you eat at Beckta.

Great place for any occasion. Food has a great taste, music let you have great conversation with the family and our journey supported in this adventure (Natalie) was great and kind by adding a candy to celebrate my wife’s birthday. I can not wait for next encounter in October.

We had our wedding anniversary at Beckta, and we were NOT DISAPPOINTED!! The restaurant is amazing, absolutely blown away by the food. My chef self was incredibly impressed, I applaud the staff and the chefs. This is a very beautiful place!! 🥂🍾 must try!

Service was excellent from everyone and Kim, our server was fabulous. Came to our table at the right times and was very helpful with the wine mene because we wanted something different. The dining room (at least the one we were in) is 100% BORING. There is nothing of interest at all. The biscuits were tasty and warm and enjoyable. The rest if the food (Quail and Cod) was overpowered by garlic and way too much salt. There was too much going on on our plates. Rich and salty. Would not recommend...sadly.

I've recently had the pleasure of endulging in Becktas tasting menu. The dishes had plenty of sauce which seemed to be the theme they were aiming for. The flavors balanced nicely with the food mostly being done perfectly. The pasta was slightly under done in the second course and there was no house bread which was slightly disappointing. Their duck dish however was one of the best dishes I've ever had. The combination of the two sauces made for an evolving flavour profile as you eat more and the sauces mix together. The servers were also knowledgeable on the dishes, as they were able to help me understand how some were cooked. It was the salmon dish in particular that was intriguing as it was soft enough to cut with a spoon. Overall very good menu with good food and excellent service.

Truly there are no words. We had our wedding ceremony, reception and dinner at Beckta. We were so incredibly supported throughout the planning process, we were treated like royalty and knowing we could completely trust this wonderful establishment, we were truly excited for the big day. And yet, they still went above and beyond any expectation we had with absolutely every detail. The building is exceptionally beautiful and the staff are the most incredible people you will ever come across in the hospitality industry. The quality of food is something everyone should experience at least once in their lives but for us it is something that was a staple on our wedding day. Each of our guests continuously raving about each course, and of course the drinks too! The effort Beckta put into creating our day can not be understated. They are who made it what it was, a day we will forever be proud of and lucky to have remain as our personal wedding story. We just wish we could live our wedding day over and over again. I really like this place! Super tasty desserts and cocktails, the staff is amazing - waiters and waitresses are trying to guess your desire and serve you in the best possible way. I'll definitely come again!

An excellent restaurant with a fantastic Chef. I had dinner there a few times and the dishes were absolutely delicious... every time! As of special note is a dish called "Aglio olio e peperoncino"; ask to have some shrimp added (even though it's not an option in the menu) and you'll have the pleasure to eat one of the best pasta dishes you've ever had.

The Lift offers a gorgeous, modern ambiance flooded with natural light and all the amenities for an enjoyable meal, drinks meet or work "pit stop" when a deadline is due. The menu selections are delectable, and the warm welcome by staff warms the heart and always causes a smile. Well done to the management team re: creating a wonderful meeting place and get-away place for solo outings, meeting friends and hosting clients.

I enjoyed a pleasant late afternoon on a Saturday. Tuna Nicoise was my preferred dish however the calamari is good as well. Several cocktails kept me company during this early dinner

Excellent breakfast buffet with some unusual items such as smoothie shots and chia seed pudding. All the dishes were of excellent quality, clearly prepared by actual chefs.

Our waiter was very nice, if a bit shy. The food was pretty forgettable though. I ordered the short rib... quite a large amount of fat was left untrimmed. The meat itself was decent, as were the sides. Pretty average quality I would say though. The thoughts of my fellow diners were the same as mine: the food was alright, but not anywhere near great, or even very good. The prices are quite reasonable though.

Great little hotel restaurant. Good food. Bar area. Sometimes they have musicians playing soft music. As a local, I like to go here from time to time for a quick bite. I usually eat alone and don't feel strange doing so. Lift is popular with business travellers. I find it's a better place to go by yourself than Baton Rouge, just because it's not as busy/crowded.

Because of the covid dining in is not available. the "Curated by Beckta" is the best option at the present. Our meal was really memorable, the wines exceptionally good. The meal took a bit more work on our part than expected, but turned out to be a real treat. It was even delivered by Stephen Beckta personally

I cannot give these guys enough praise. The curated by Beckta meal kits are to die for. The menu changes every week so you can change it up everytime and only order when you like what's on the menu. This service, created during Covid is a 3 course meal prepped and ready for you to finish off at home in 30 mins. All of the ingredients are carefully labeled and an instruction sheet, as well as a YouTube video, accompanies the meal. You get an appetizer, the main course and a dessert. We always go for the option with the 2 bottles of wine recommended for the meal! Total for 2 is 150$ or 80$ without the wine. A delivery fee is added depending on where you get it delivered!

We had a delicious take-out meal last night! The braised beef and spicy chicken were two of our favorites. Candice was very friendly and helpful. And they offer delivery now!

We've been going to Beckta since they were in their original location and it is truly one of Ottawa's gems. Their wine list is quite interesting, their menu ever changing. Food is always fantastic and service is great! Great place for special occasions, romantic dinner or for a cocktail and quick bite to eat after work. We've also been ordering from their Curated by Beckta since the start of the pandemic and have had tremendously good food and wine at home! Thanks to Stephen, Clay and all the team!

I was given a gift card to receive a curated by Beckta Dinner for 2. What a fabulous idea and delicious experience. We received a package of ingredients to create a amazing meal at home along with two wine pairings! We feel in heaven after this impeccable meal, and had so much fun preparing it! Well done Beckta!

From delivery to meal prep this was an excellent experience. The owner delivered the food and was extremely nice. Instructions were very easy to follow and quality of food was superb. Truly a fine dine experience at the comfort of our home! Wine provided as the pair went PERFECTLY with the food recommended to have it with and quality of ingredients were exceptional. There was essentially no garbage disposal, just plastic for recycling. I’m sure they COULD look into compostable containers but that may alter the taste of food, containers can get soggy etc. So for what it is worth to me this was also much more environmentally friendly than your common competitors. Excellent and highly recommend!

Been here a few times and I've always loved it. The food, device, and ambiance are unmatched in Ottawa. The portions are generous and the wine pairing is just too notch. Always a great pleasure to visit. We asked this time for a vegan tasting menu on a very short notice the day we visited, not only did they accommodate us but they also managed to impress us with the dishes. They were unique in flavours and ingredients, just a wonderful tasting experience overall.

Had dinner at Beckta recently, the food, wine list and service was impeccable. We truly enjoyed our waitress who was very knowledgeable about the wine and helped us pick a fabulous bottle that we enjoyed. We will be back to try their 5 course tasting menu with wine pairings soon.

My husband ordered a "Curated by Beckta" dinner for two (meal kit #7) last night to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary. The meal along with wine was delivered to our home in the afternoon with full instructions and link to YouTube to show how to put the finishing touches on the dinner. It was all fabulous!! The salad was delicious, the Lamb Kielbasa and Summer Succotash were delicious and the Rhubarb Cheesecake Tart was excellent. The portions were all extremely generous. We really appreciated the wines that were chosen to compliment the meal. We would love to be able to go to any of the Beckta restaurants; Beckta, Play and Gezellig, when it's possible but would definitely consider this option again.

Such a great selection of wines and the meat and cheese pairings were perfect, as usual. Very good food and superb service. The restaurant is in a large, old house with many nooks and crannies, so private and discreet dining is available. The sound system and noise level are well controlled so it's possible to easily converse. The pleasant bar area is in a part of the house that has been more heavily renovated than other parts. I give this restaurant top marks.

Very nice surprise. We ate at the bar and were very well taken care of by the personable bar tender. Lovely room--orange chairs are beautiful contrast to the older building. Lighting at the bar was particularly well done--intimate but helpful to reading the menus! WIne selection by the glass was good--tried a Canadian Gamay--who knew? Am going to buy some to bring home to the US it was so good. Food was yummy--had the pasta and the Arctic char tartar--quite good. Salads were good but overdressed--hence the 4 stars. Bartender was stellar as I ordered a dish that I did not like and he immediately saw my expression and whisked it away and replaced it--no charge for the dish I did not eat. Well done! We will return while we are here--more food and wine to try. Try it you will enjoy

I was a bit disappointed honestly. As a big foodie who has gone to a number of high class restaurants like this one, I was disappointed. My best friend and her mom treated me to a dinner here and for the price of our evening, the flavours were underwhelming. I have yet to go to a restaurant with better food than ei18hteen. Portions are okay but again, flavours.... My friends main, the Seared Scallops, were tough and her plate was unevenly salted. My Boar Rillette appetizer didn't have enough acid to cut through the richness. I had the duck as the main course and it was probably the only tasty thing, and mom had the Island Cod, which she enjoyed. We didn't have dessert.

We had the tasting menu and thoroughly enjoyed it - we both enjoyed the surprise element. The portions were well-sized and the wine pairings great. I would return in a heartbeat!

This was our second time doing the currated by Beckta dinner and again we are not disappointed and our bellies are so happy. The instructions are easy the food quality is amazing. I have been to many restaurants around the world and being able to have that kind of quality at home during a pandemic is just so awesome. The flavours, the plating, the ambiance and the service were all excellent. We wowed at every course. I did not miss meat at all the entire night(which was very rare of me). The meal was totally impressive!

We were greeted very well by the staff at Beckta, and seated at a table we requested. Our dinner (a birthday celebration) was masterfully managed by our server, who was quite familiar with the wine list as well. Our meal was properly timed, and we never felt rushed. The atmosphere was very quiet and restful. The food was excellent as always, well prepared and well portioned. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

My parents and I recently dined at Beckta to celebrate my graduation from law school – it was the perfect place to celebrate, with such kind staff and absolutely delicious food, I am already dreaming of when we will be able to visit again. As shown in the picture, our waiter brought us complimentary sparkling wine to mark the occasion which was a very thoughtful touch. I thoroughly recommend booking a dinner at Beckta!

Fine dining yes pork main meal was really really good and priced accordingly, the charcuteries was ok, service was good but on a early Monday near empty room a perfumed couple was place right next to us and that felt a bit strange, the music was good but some songs where a bit loud - all and all i would go back

We went for my boyfriends birthday and had the tasting menu. We were not disappointed! We cannot wait to go back, this has quickly become one of our favourite spots in the city.

Great atmosphere friendly service simple menu although with my allergies to shellfish my options were very limited for the appetizers. My main course was steelhead trout which is healthy but the taste is a bit gamey compared to salmon. The serving was good but wouldn't order again. Same for my appetizer which was basically a leafy type of lettuce with lots of granola. Big portion and tastey but again would not reorder. My wife ordered a lime slice cake for $15. We waited 20 minutes and was told the chef did not pick up the ticket. So we had this very thin piece given no charge as a take out. We were married here years ago and thought the food was fantastic. Mt wife enjoyed her meal this time but I was not overblown.
