There is nothing better than a beaver tail, they’re a MUST when visiting Byward Market! The staff were very friendly and quick to serve us our treats. They have many flavours to choose from (there was a banana Nutella, I think!) but I always go with “the classic” cinnamon sugar, it’s so delicious and a perfect warm treat in the winter.

Tried their classic one, with sugar and cinnamon on top only. It’s crispy yet not that oily. Sugar gives a bit sweetness but not too much. Cinnamon makes it a holiday snack more. Worth to give it a try if you are visiting Ottawa. The only thing is there is alway line up so the wait time is about 20mins.

There are many forms of fried dough, but this one is definitely unique tasting. I went with the og classic, cinnamon and sugar on the first night. It was delicious! It's worth trying while visiting Canada. It lives up to the hype. There are other delicious looking flavors available but I think the classic is a must! I had the Maple the next day and while still delicious, I still preferred the classic.

Oh man! Yum! I don’t have it often but it’s so so good when I chow down on one of those beaver tails! 👍😆

Went and use the new location Beaver Tails on Hunt Club and Hawthorn Ottawa and I can say i was disgusted with over price that i was charged. I paid $7.50 for each cinnamon and sugar. Don't even think going there, you will be charged twice the price. BeaverTails website says $5.48 plus tax. If you do the math it doesn't come up to $7.50. Honesty is the foundation of a success business and I can say it is not the case here.

As always, this place never fails to impress me. Irresistibly delicious, artisanal Canadian pastry. Can you even believe it started in 1978. This location also is just outside Rideau centre in Byward Market. My personal favourite is Avalanche followed by Coco Vanil

Disappointed. The old oil taste was prevailing anything else. I guess the oil was reused to many times.... I had to look up the date when we where there. It was 21 november before noon. The place was at the market at downtown.

A visit to this Beavertails location is a must when in Ottawa. Many flavors to choose from. I personally like the classic. Warm, sweet & just the right amount of cinnamon brings joy when ever I indulge in this Canadian staple dessert. The line ups might be long but the service is quick at this location. Other notable items: the hot applied cider and hot chocolate are also delicious.

I'm always very excited for my beavertail, but always get very annoyed with the packaging by the time I receive it. The paper wrapping is floppy and if placed inside the wrapper, the topping gets stuck. But when placed on top of the wrapper, it also becomes very messy and the toppings get on my jacket or on my hands. There must be a better system?! Something like the pizza slice cardboard for takeout slices or even a paper plate. I'm surprised none of the reviews mention this.

Best beavertails in all Canada. This is the only one that has them with cheese only!! Long line but worth it. Our fave is the cinnamon and lemon! And cheese tops them all!

After we walked to Beavertails. There were so many flavors I really didn't know what to get. The cashier said the most popular flavors were Killaloe Sunrise which had Cinnamon, Sugar & Lemon. Also the other popular flavor was Bananarama which was Chocolate Hazelnut Spread with Banana. I went with the Killaloe Sunrise. I am not going to lie, I was super skeptical about the lemon but it was all just very simple. The Cinnamon and Sugar was great, the lemon gave it flavor when you wanted the little extra flavor.

Delicious fried pastry. I usually keep my selection simple, sugar, cinnamon and lemon but many more options available. Great during summer time or even on a cold winter day.

Loved the banana and Nutella beaver tail - my first time eating it with a friend and I really liked it. The look is classic, which makes the experience even better!

You haven't explored Ottawa if you haven't tried a beaver tail. There are numerous different options and my favourite is the Bananarama. Customer service is friendly and quick. Prices are reasonable. The only thing that is missing is a nice spot to sit down and enjoy this pastry.

Can’t go wrong with deep fried dough! My family never misses this when they are in town. On top of all the deliciousness, they have vegan options as well.

One of the most iconic locations of Beaver Tails. We tried the Classic, Bananarama and Brownie. All were tasty. Price was decent. This place is always crowded but thanks to the superfast service by the friendliest staffs one doesn't have to wait much!

Must try if you are in Ottawa. Located right in the heart of the Byward market. The dough was nicely fried. My favourite is the hazelnut one. Parking is easy to find in the evenings. Must try on a winter night. I really like the lights. It's is open till 11 so you can go in a bit late to avoid traffic in that area. Should definitely try and expand in other Canadian cities.

It is located in the busy area of the market. The place is really busy and takes upto 10mins per order. The customer service which is provide is really good. The beavertrail is just yum yum yum. Must try and get yourself a dessert 🧁 Happy Eating 😃

The perfect treat to enjoy while visiting the Byward market and the downtown Ottawa area. For a classic Canadian experience, I suggested getting The Classic or Maple Butter beavertail with a warm hot chocolate. Worth the wait and the price 😃

    Must try when in Ottawa.

  • 4/5 Chris G. 2 years ago on Google
First time in Ottawa and I had to have a Beaver Tail at the Byward Market. I had the avalanche, cheese cake with Skor chocolate. Was messy but delicious. I had to remove one star as there was absolutely no coordination when they were handing out the Beaver Tails after ordering. I saw people waiting for 10 mins for their pastry only to have someone that just ordered the same thing snatch their order. Perhaps taking names may help ease the frustration I saw during busy times like a Saturday night. Also put them in a box before handing them out to customers....especially during Covid. I had to ask for a box and napkins. Also...my fiance who grew up in Ottawa said they seemed to be getting smaller. Still a tasty Canadian treat.....

We have been many times and given that its right in the middle of Byward market and always busy - still they keep up. They are fast and nice. Great service.

Despite living here I don't get around the market often, so it's always nice to stop for a Beavertail when I get the rare opportunity. A wonderful classic Ottawa food!

I had the bananarama from this place and enjoyed the taste. The bread was tasty and the chocolate with bananas added the flavour to it. I will have it again...!!!😊

Ahh Beavertails! Stopped on our Ottawa trip from Toronto. This is an easy to find location in the heart of the Byward Market. Extremely friendly staff who offered to box our items as they could see we were still sight seeing. The food was delicious as always!

We ordered a Bananarama. It is surprisingly good and every ingredients matched so well! Highly recommend to try if visit Byward Market

  • 5/5 Victoria R. 2 years ago on Google
The brown sugar, cinnamon, and lemon beaver tail is just delicious. I always fear before getting a beavertail that it will be too heavy and am always pleasantly surprised. It feels like a Canadian staple at this point. The Ottawa locations always have excellent quality. Definitely recommend for tourists.

  • 5/5 Deea L. 8 months ago on Google
A local pastry that you have to taste when you are in the corner. We stopped near to Byward Market. You can chose several flavors - we stoped on the apple one, on banana with chocolate, on brownie with chocolate and cinnamon with sugar and lemon… everything was delicious even with the rain outside. An improvement suggestion would be to provide a place to stay and ate all the stuffs among with a cup of coffee/ cappuccino or thee.

Got a chance to visit this location at the Byward market in Ottawa. This was my first time trying a BeaverTail. Had the opportunity to try ‘Avalanche’ and ‘Brwownie’ . It was just amazing. I personally recommend the Avalanche. This is a must try. Cheers!

This is truly a guilty pleasure, but if you’re craving something sweet, then this hits the spot. We got beaver tails three nights in row and each time was consistent and great. The staff are welcoming and efficient. The location is also central to many other restaurants. We got this as desert to our meals. Overall, highly recommended.

It was National Beavertails Day, where you get a free classic beavertail from 3-5 pm, which I didn’t even realize. It was so busy when I was there at noon, I can’t imagine how busy it will be at 3. The staff was very friendly and were working at top speed to get beavertails to a huge group of kids. Even though there was a line, I had to stop and get a Killaloe Sunrise because I remembered how much I enjoyed the one I had when skating on the Rideau Canal in 2019. It was as good as I remembered!

  • 5/5 Zach B. 7 months ago on Google
Love me some BeaverTails! Located right at the historic Byward market. It was pretty busy when we went but service was fast! Make sure to grab extra napkins! Always a must every-time we visit my cousin in Ottawa! 🇨🇦🍁

  • 5/5 Renz A. 1 year ago on Google
Their food is simple yet very good; they still have more than 10 variations of their main treat. It was piping hot when I got it, perfect for summer or winter.

  • 4/5 Elham T. 7 months ago on Google
Before tasting it, I thought it should taste a bit more like bread, but it was sweeter than I imagined. However, if you are trying it for the first time, be sure to eat it classic or preferably without any additives. Its atmosphere is very pleasant, because after taking it you can sit on the benches in front of it and listen to music and maybe dance! ✨ Enjoy it. 🍯

We were recommended the beavertails from this specific location. We had one each to takeaway. The food was really great and the tails were definitely big enough for the price. Service was a little slow and a little abrupt when I asked if cash was accepted for these lower payment items.

  • 5/5 L K. 11 months ago on Google
Beaver tails are a Canadian staple and a must when visiting Ottawa. Traditional dough fried and then a spread of Nutella over it. I won't sugar dusted on top and available with banana. I have had way to many great experiences that I have to give this 5 stars. Wish they had more in store locations but staff are usually always friendly !

  • 3/5 Behram 10 months ago on Google
Overrated, it's just gotten it's name out there and became a mainstay. It's in a perfect location to garner max attention from tourists. As for the food nothing special but it's still good and worth trying.

This is the real taste and tradition of Ottawa! You cannot be in Ottawa and not try BeaverTails! My favorite is the Hazelnut Amour! It’s my best, specially when it’s winter and you eat that warm, crispy chocolate pastry 😋 Lovely!

  • 4/5 Benjamin H. 3 years ago on Google
Delicious Canadian fried doughs with all kinds of topping options. I've found the cookie and vanilla icing option to be a bit too much (too sweet) for me but I loved the maple butter and the cinnamon sugar versions. The little place can get super busy where you may have to line up.

  • 5/5 Daphne G. 3 years ago on Google
Delicious! I ordered them via uber eats and it arrived still nice , warm and crispy! The topings were amazing and overall mot too sweet as the pastry seems to be more savory. Overall very tasty. Higly recommend
