Great food. Excellent service. Second visit. Today, my wife and group of friends showed up there without a reservation for a group of 7, after I warmly recommended the place. They were just 3 blocks from the restaurant and wanted to eat Italian food so I recommended they just walk over and check. Unfortunately, they didn't feel welcome and the person at the front said "let me check if we can", even if the restaurant was *totally* empty at 2:30pm today and during published business hours. The service at the table was great, the food was delicious, but the lukewarm welcome needs improvement as it does leave an aftertaste that all my invitees reported back to me. Maybe I should have called 5 minutes ahead to warn them about them walking over, but dealing with guests without a reservation should be BAU for anyone in this business. Whoever was at the door today probably should have been washing dishes instead of handling reception.

Food was great service was just as good! Wine was also really good, I asked for something mild and that’s just what I got! Nice, clean, quiet place. Definitely recommend trying it out.

This Italian restaurant was a pleasant surprise! We were quite surprised at how empty the restaurant was midday on a weekday, but the dishes we ordered were great. Our dishes were very tasty and came out quickly. The ambiance within the rest was quite modern and comfortable, with a clean dining room and restrooms. Our waiter was quite friendly as well. My only disappointment was that the pasta used for their dishes is predominantly dried pasta and not fresh, in house made pasta.

The food was absolutely amazing. Just wish there were more vegetarian options on the menu as the selection was very limited in that regard. Nice environment and reasonably priced as well. Their house wine is top notch.

Had dinner with a group of friends. Choices were varied but quality as well. The chicken Marsala was really good. Fried calamari was nice and tender and bigger tubes. Antipasto play is Excellent to shared for 4-6 people nicely. However, fried zucchini was not good at all. Too drenched in oil and not crunchy enough outside. Pasta plates tasted stale. Overall. For close to $100/ person. Expected more.

If I could leave no stars I would. Our waitress had zero interest in being there let alone serve us. Spent more time chatting with her coworkers than tending to her 3 tables. Food was note good, the cream sauce was like water, the seafood linguine dish was not good- could definitely tell that everything was frozen, the pasta was over cooked. The dj was way to loud, I had to yell at the person next to me and they still couldn’t hear me lol definitely overpriced. Would not recommend.

The place and people were fine. Nothing more, nothing less. The food however, left a lot to be desired. I had an entrée of smelts which were a bit soggy but otherwise, passable, and that's where the compliments end. As a main I had the manicotte and never in my life have I had such a horrible manicotte. The filling was grainy and seriously unpleasant un the mouth. I've had better manicotte from a frozen bag. While manicotte is a difficult plate to make look appealing, mine was clearly dumped on the plate, envoking less than desirable imagery. I shared a bite with my partner and it's a good thing I did because otherwise I wouldn't have finished even one of those monstrocities. Members of my group got a meat dish that they were equally unpleased with. The sause paired with their dish was just god awful. The sides for most people's dishes were extremely basic amounting to steamed vegetables. They need to seriously consider reworking their entire menu. As is, it is the embodiment of souless italian american cooking. Considering the price, this quality of food was not acceptable. The cherry on top was a default 18% service charge because we were a group.

I was with a small group celebrating a birthday this past weekend and our waitress was an absolute doll. Took care of us with speed and efficiency, helpful with suggestions and helping us to order variations from the menu - usually inflexible at other restaurants. We loved our drinks and the food was extremely well made. Loved my time there! Beautiful ambiance and overall very friendly staff. Would go back for sure!!

It was my first time eating here, and it did not disappoint. The food was so delicious, I had the tortellini, very flavorful. We had some bruschetta bread, calamari, and fried zucchini as apps. Everything was cooked perfectly. My coworker had the seafood pasta, and she doesn't eat mussels, so i had them, and they were cooked perfectly. The dessert the carrot cake with caramel was to die for, the best I've ever had. We were a group of 10 and the waiter was so great, the staff were friendly. For an Italian restaurant, I would definitely recommend it.

Nice looking and clean place. Food took a while. Good thing I wasn't in a rush. Until I was. My salmon was okay. Carrot cheesecake was tasty. My bill plus parking could have covered my family elsewhere with more warmth to the service.

We visit this restaurant many times throughout the year to enjoy their delicious food and pleasant service. Mariam was our waitress on November 4 and she was wonderful. She made our night perfect and it was an important one because it was my wife's birthday. We will be back again soon.

I brought some friends from Toronto and immediately thought to take them to the restaurant. However, the homemade lasagna wasn't the same as I used to eat. It was very small; the layers were a bit overcooked, completely different from the few months I was there. Service is always impeccable. The spaghetti carbonara was a bit dry. Overall the biggest feedback from my friends was the portion size compared to the price we paid.

I have been to Tosca a few times now and it never disappoints. Service is always great and staff are committed to enhancing your experience. The food is nothing shy of delicious and portion sizes are perfect!

Seating was comfortable. The food was pretty good, and came very quickly (you may not be happy if you're looking for a slow, leisurely dinner). Service was pleasant. Lots of street parking around the restaurant, especially at night and on weekends.

From start to finish such a pleasant experience. I see dining out as a form of entertainment. We lost ourselves in atmosphere. The food came at the right pace and the portion sizes were just right. Would 100% go back.

I have been here a few times and the food is always good, sometimes excellent. The service is great as well. Good wine selection and they make decent cocktails. Most recently I had the chicken calabrese ($32), a little spicy and portion isn't large but a great size for lunch and it was delicious. Definitely something I'd order when I go back.

Food and atmosphere were good, but what turned me off was the service. I’ve been a server for years and I could just tell our waiter was unenthused and did the bare minimum. Not to mention he made the bus boy serve us for most of our time anyway (it was not busy at all - only two other tables). Still 3 stars because nothing was bad per se (and maybe it was an off night) but it didn’t make me want to return unfortunately

We were two couples here for dinner. We shared some appetizers that were very tasty along with some fresh buns. I had the carbonara and the others had chicken or veal parmesan. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The wine selection was good. The staff were amazing.

We were at Tosca last Saturday for a graduation party and everything was excellent! We were able to get a reservation last minute and were even given the private room. The service was thoughtful and attentive and the food was delicious. I highly recommend the tortellini gorgonzola... it was INCREDIBLE! We will be back for sure!

My parents took me here last night for my belated graduation dinner and we all thoroughly enjoyed the restaurant. It was my second time being there and once again it was a great experience. I had the calamari, the gnocchi and their raspberry yogurt cheesecake for dessert and it was all phenomenal. All perfectly done and I am still dreaming of their food. The atmosphere was lovely and our server was great as well. Only concern was my mom said the bruschetta was a little salty but overall, a minor detail. Will surely return

First time I ever go to this restaurant. I will be visiting again. They accommodated us very well and were able to work around my intolerances. Despite being short staff the service was still quick. My wife and I really enjoyed it and will be eating there again thank you.

The food wasn't as good as I expected for a more pricey restaurant like this. It wasn't all bad, but the breaded zucchini was close to burnt, the dip too vinegary to use. The fries were also close to burnt, but the dipping sauce was good. We had rolls, but no butter. The bruchetta was very good. The salad was far too vinegar-y to enjoy. The salmon was good and was a good size, but the grill lines on it tasted like dirty grill, so it diminished the flavor. For me, I had enough appetizers and so on that the main dish was enough for me, and I know that it's usual to put less sides for presentation, but my friend was complaining that there was only a small potato, cut in two and a few vegetables with it (we had the same main). I had a sangria and later a mimosa (my first of these ever). I honestly don't remember how the sangria was, but I remember not liking the mimosa, but then, I attribute that to me just not liking mimosas. The service was good. As a foodie, I won't be returning though.

The food lacked seasoning; Both calamari and fettuccine Alfredo lacked seasoning and flavouring. The pasta had no salt on it, both dishes were extremely bland. The chocolate cake dessert was really good!

Tosca Ristorante has been one of my favorite restaurants for many years! They never disappoint! The food is amazing and the staff always make me feel like family!

Came here for dinner back in September and the place was packed. We were lucky to get a table and the food and service was great. We started off with complementary bread, which they served with pickled peppers, black olives, and an olive oil-balsamic vinegar mix. I ordered the Chicken Parmagiana and this is the first place I've had it where the chicken wasn't overcooked and dry. I recommend coming here for dinner and its in a great location to explore downtown afterwards.

Came here for dinner. The ambiance and atmosphere here is great. Service was excellent. I ordered the Spaghetti alla carbonara. It was tasty, but definitely a North-American take on the dish, and not traditional, if that's what you're looking for. Portions I'd say are what you'd expect, about average.

We went for a friend's birthday party. They were nice enough to keep the birthday cakes in the fridge and service them ( even though they were not from the restaurant). The food was good, no complaints, but not memorable. Staff were nice but seemed overwhelmed when we added people to the table ( you think this would be good for the restaurant and their tip, but they seemed irritated). We have reservations for 7 but only got appetizers around 9. The service was very long!

The food was wonderful, but unfortunately the worst service I’ve ever had. I’m usually quite patient as I was in this industry for ten years, but there was a half hour wait to be seen. The waitress was then rude to everyone in our party except one guy, there were no quality checks, and we had to hunt someone down to bring our bill while they were closing the restaurant around us. Additionally, we brought in a birthday cake and explicitly told the staff it was a surprise for one of the guests, then they talked about it in front of the guest and ruined the surprise. When they brought the cake out, the plopped it down and didn’t bring any utensils for us. I’m very disappointed in this service. The food was excellent though, would recommend for take out.

We had a wonderful experience at this Italian restaurant. From the moment we walked in, the service was top-notch. They greeted us with warm bread, hot peppers, and fresh olives – a delightful start. I ordered the veal parmesan, and it was cooked to perfection, bursting with flavor. The only slight downside was the wait between the appetizer and the main course, which felt a bit long. However, it became evident that they were taking the time to ensure quality, and it was absolutely worth the wait. I appreciated the dedication to excellence in every dish. We arrived early for our reservation and were seated without issue by Alessandra. The service we received from Alessandra for my wife’s birthday was excellent. We had the calamari and zucchini fritte as appetizers and they were very good. Our veal mains were all very tasty with excellent sauces. We had a calabrese pizza as a share. A perfect evening. Deserts, drinks coffees all topped off a nice evening. Thank you .

We made reservations well in advance (almost two weeks ahead) for our anniversary dinner, only to be notified hours before our reservation that they their kitchen would be closed and that they close 15 minutes after our reservation time. A massive oversight on part of Tosca. It is so easy to adjust these times lots on OpenTable to avoid these sorts of situations with patrons but clearly no one has taken the time to make the necessary adjustments. These reservations were also made well in advance, so they have ample amount of time to notify us of any issues with our reservation. Instead, we were left having to scramble to find somewhere to spend our evening on such a special day. Thankfully the staff at Whalesbone were accommodating and able to get us in last minute. Massive disappointment from Tosca staff.

Tosca is a hidden gem in Ottawa. Due to their location, I suspect most of their traffic is from business lunches, but it’s definitely worthy of your personal lunch/dinner plans. The prices are in the higher range, but fair for the quality and portion size. The food is top notch and the staff are excellent. It’s an upscale atmosphere, but they’re so welcoming there that I feel just as comfortable wearing jeans as a dress. Get the linguine al pescatore!

The last time I came which was early on in the pandemic months and months ago hardly anyone was in the restaurant seated and the food was tasty. However this time I would have rated it higher unfortunately I can’t. First I made a reservation on OpenTable for 5pm for my best friend and I. As soon as I made it I received a phone call they said for me to call them back which I did and the lady tells me they have a lot of reservations and something about 7pm. So I took that as a cancellation and to come at 7pm. My friend and I showed up at 7pm and they then ask for my name and I tell them. And they tried to tell me I didn’t have a reservation. Mean while I had booked it. Why on earth call the customer to tell them they have a lot of reservations. Also why not explain things better. And I also had no intention of staying for hours to eat dinner. I also want to clearly state. They were packed and I mean there was no table that wasn’t empty it’s like there wasn’t even a pandemic going on. I would have thought they would have had less tables but nope super packed. And then they were adding tables to other tables for groups. Which to be honest my anxiety level was going up because I was feeling a little overwhelmed. Honestly I can’t say I'll be going back there any time soon. If anything avoid going in and just do take out. I sure hope nobody in the restaurant has Covid because if so it’s gonna suck big time!!!. Had pizza from there last week, the 4 cheese which was fantastic, but earlier tonight my father and I went there to try some dishes and it was all delicious. We had bruschetta which was fresh, then I had the Linguine Al Pescatore which was absolutely amazing with my only complaint being a need for more pasta in the dish but with the times I understand, the taste of the dish as well as amount of seafood was still incredible. Will return in the future!

We had an awesome experience at Tosca! The staff were welcoming, attentive and very personable. We totally enjoyed the mussels, the sauce they were cooked in was too good to be left behind so we dipped our bread in it. Our main course was delicious and was complemented wonderfully by a glass of red wine. Thank you Tosca, we will definitely be back.

Cosy, romantic restaurant in downtown Ottawa. The server was attentive and accommodating. I don’t understand why they gave us so much butter though. Also the carbonara’s sauce had a strong, nutty taste which was too strange for me... but I will come back to try more dishes.

First time visiting Tosca with my daughter who is attending Carleton University...it was outstanding. Can't believe how reasonable the prices were and the food was excellent. Coming from Toronto I had to ask our server if the prices were correct...we visited on Sunday for dinner so it was more quiet but we are going back next weekend which is the long weekend and if anything changes I will let you know. My only disappointment was that there was no way we could enjoy dessert after the wonderful appetizers and entrees...simply no room. Since we will be in Ottawa more often I know Tosca will be on our must visit places. Thank you, it was simply great...and what a wonderful memory with my daughter.

I had walked by this restaurant a thousand times and always stayed away because of the red neon lights and that it titles itself as "Upscale" - if you have to put it in the name, you know it cant be true. I went with girlfriends and had a pleasant time. Drinks, wine, service and food was fast and delicious. A bit unsure about the gender diversity as there appeared to be only males employed. The menu physically disappointed as it was laminated and really only had 2 pages of pasta dishes. I dont eat pasta so it left me with limited options, however I still enjoyed my dish - just a slight caution if you dont feel like pasta. Overall cute and engaging server - they just need to up their outter appearance a bit

Went here for dinner for 2. The waitress was nice and helped us. We had a pizza and a glass of wine. The pizza was falling apart when we got it cause of how greasy it was and I think it was the manager or owner that would not stop staring at us our entire meal which was unnerving. It wasn’t particularly cheap either for essentially a large pizza.
