A delightful, hidden gem of a restaurant. Food was perfectly cooked and delicious! The pork spring rolls were awesome! The adobo chicken was fantastic! The steamed rice wonderful. The rice noodles were not sloppy! The service was timely and attentive! Must try for all!

The food was so delicious! I'm familiar with Pandan and was really looking forward to the pancakes and they did not disappoint! Perfect amount of flavour and so fluffy! The Filipino sausage was so tasty too. I love the marinade. My friend got the Tami's brunch and some garlic rice and loved it too. We got some ube cake at the end and it was super moist and tasty. Our waiter was extremely nice and talkative too. Only gripe is it took us over 30 minutes to get the food and we were hungry!!! Overall, food is amazing but expect to wait especially during Sunday brunch.

This is one of the beautiful designed Filipino restaurants in Canada. Place is clean. Food is great and authentic Filipino taste. And service is good. Busy area. Parking is along the street. As a visitor in the area, we kind lost a bit. Road are one ways.

I was there with a group of friends and ordered Kamayan for myself. The food was decent and service was exceptional. However, I have an issue with how they deal with Kamayan order. They charge 18% gratuity on the order and it was written clearly on their menu. It's very unusual approach to charge gratuity on single person order, but for inexplicable reason they do that. I usually tip 20%, so it worked out better for me anyway. The issue I have is, when the time came to make payment, the server just handed me a machine and expected me to go through "Would you like to tip" screen. I was so close to double tipping and had to checked my receipt again to make sure 18% was already included. If they are charging me 18% tip, I expect them to skip the tip screen before they handed me the machine; or at least have some decency to remind me that tip is already included on the bill (but i can tip more if i want). Just handing out the machine and not saying anything is very sneaky.

IT'S ABOUT TIME! My wife and I have tried many venues and as far as Ottawa is concerned, for Filipino cooking, Tamis Café is it! We used to travel all the way to Montréal and Toronto because there were no decent choices in the region. We've tried some places locally where the food was good, but it was so americanise and it did not taste like authentic pinoy food, so I'm glad we've discovered Tamis Café on Bank Street right in the heart of Ottawa. The food was excellent and the business owner even came to see us and, he threw a few jokes to liven' up the room, just like an authentic filipino, he and his staff were very welcoming. This filipino restaurant gets my highest recommendation of all places in the region, you will not regret it! Thanks for the great food and service, we'll be back!

Waiters are extremely nice and the food was absolutely amazing. Tapsilog is the name of the dish I got on the brunch menu. The beef was sweet and savory, which is not traditional I think but was absolutely amazing. The garlic rice was very tasty, and the iced coffee was pretty good too. Highly recommend.

Calling all Filipinos in diaspora. When in Ottawa look for Tamis for a really good meal. This place is a jewel right in the heart of the city. The food selections are fantastically simple but big and rich in taste. The restaurant is very clean and the service is exceptionally friendly. I found my favourite watering hole. Congratulations to all staff.

Tried their Kamayan feast for 1-2 as take away and can't comment on their atmosphere or service. Food was amazing and portions very generous. I shared this meal with a friend and it was enough to put both of us into a food coma after. Flavours were delicate. The crispy milk fish was probably the best part of the box. Will definitely keep on my list to try again, dining in.

We the Kamayan Feast (take-out) and the food was amazing!!! The portions were generous and the flavour was outstanding. I was full half way through my meal, but finished it because it was so good. Highly recommend Tamis Cafe. Support the locals!

Looking for an authentic unique brunch experience. This spot offers a delicious filipino brunch with a western twist. Food is great 👍🏻 - 1 star for the wait time to get the food as they get busy on the weekends and order takes a bit longer than average. Service on the other side was on point.

Go here if you want to try authentic Filipino food but also note that it is so expensive for the portion size. We came here with a group of people and though that ordering the Kamayan would be enough. Each platter barely had enough food for two and only one meat skewers. Lots of cheap filling such as rice, tomatoes, and half an orange. A slice of ube or pandan cake was $9 each. Beautiful presentation and good tasting food, but be prepared to spend more to be full if you’re having the kamayan.

Very delicious food and so glad we tried it out! We were 7 (3 adults and 4 tweens). Ordered 2 kamayans ahead as recommended on website, with a few add-ons, and a crispy pata. Longanisa was a favorite! Perfect amount of food and very fun to share. Finished the meal with a few desserts that just so amazing!! Service was excellent and we even got to meet the chef after!

awesome place! we were looking for some brunch for breakfast and we found this gem. it's really pretty here and our server is really outgoing. the rest of the workers are kind and one offered to take our family photo. interior is cute, just a little cold but it's summer. the food was sooooo delicious and you can order from the dinner menu instead of brunch in the morning. i had tap-si-log!

Came here and got their brunch. Toast came unbuttered which is unusual, and I asked for brown toast and they gave me white. Not the end of the world, though. Their homefries weren't particularly well seasoned, not were they crispy. The scrambled eggs were done decently. The Filipino sausage I got with it were pretty tasty, and they were in a sweet soy style of glaze that was good, but I wish there was a bit more of it.

Food was good, interesting mix of Filipino and Canadian cuisine, worth checking out. Serving staff however is very inexperienced. Our appetizer arrived with our meals, they didn't provide condiments without asking and never came to clean the table. Might have stayed longer but we didn't want to sit at a table piled high with dinner dishes.

Sizzling Sisig was pretty good for meat lovers. Lemon and chilli gave an extra kick to it. Halo-Halo was not impressive but good to try. It is mostly filled with crushed ice. Nice packaging for takeout. Polite and friendly staff.

We ended up going on a busy night for them and it took a little longer for the food to be ready yet the experience was very pleasant. The family there was really kind and caring and the food is just incredible. We loved the Pancit Palabok and the Ube Cake is a must try!! Definitely coming back very soon for the Kamayan feast. 10/10

Great that there is currently a traffic closure Friday evenings on Bank Street. We ate under a canopy on the street on a perfect night. Oh, and the food was top notch, especially the chicken adobo. Recommend! Get out there and support local businesses to put the pandemic behind us.

Service was great but they could have definitely use a extra person, several times I watched the waitress running. I found the food a bit disappointing because I saw how great it looked and was described on Instagram. The best tasting was the home made sausage and chicken thigh. We also tried the cheese appetizer (don’t recommend ordering) it was extremely basic and simple. The pancakes lacked flavour and was a bit dense. The dessert display at the front was clean, organized and appealing to look at.

Great place to enjoy our very own Filipino cuisine at a very reasonable price. The dessert selection is the best part though.😍 You can also enjoy some drinks after your meals and spend some more time chitchatting with friends.

Not safe even with reservation. Best to call in and show up 30-60 mins after. That’s when it’ll be ready/ scrambled together. Imagine valentines, having a reservation and showing up on time. Seeing other tables have the reservation signs on it, but the servers scramble to have a table set for you. They offer the seat right next to the live entertainment since no others available. It was my wife and mines first valentines together as a married couple. Thanks you Tamis for the memorable experience. 👎👎👎👎👎

So, the good first: pork sisig good! Probably the best thing I had. Beef mechado pretty good, but bland lukewarm broccoli side a bit of a miss. Food felt very homey but maybe a dollar or two overpriced for what it was. The bad: the service. We waited probably 20 minutes for someone to come over and take our drink order, and it was not busy at this point. It seemed the staff was more focused on the special feast for another table rather than serving us. The service continued to be poor throughout the night, the food was very slow to come out and then we waited a long time for bills/to settle up. I had wanted to take a few desserts to go but after waiting at the counter and yet again having no service decided to leave as I was done waiting for the night. Service really needs to improve, hopefully it will but I'm not sure if I would take the chance.

Really great food. Loved the variety. We got one of the special platters, you need to order in advance. It came with fish, garlic shrimps (so good!), a pork skewer, tomatoes and oranges, grilled eggplant, mango salad, rice, Filipino pork spring rolls (Lumpia!!! Yesss). Plus it had some housemade plum sauce, soya sauce and fish/acidic sauce for dipping. Highly recommend if you have never had Filipino food.

My friend ordered the kamayan for 6 people. Very decent portion, layed out all over the table, there's okra, mango salad, grilled meat, lots of rice, and dipping sauce. The shrimp and mussles were delicious, so was the stuffed squid. Honestly, everything was amazing! Service was wonderful too. My first time trying Filipino food, would definitely try more.

Loved the atmosphere! Tamis has amazing service and delicious food! I had the longanisa omelette and it was amazing. I was sad I had none left when I realized I had finished it all. Not the biggest fan of the hashbrowns though. If you enjoy Filipino dishes, you will like this Filipino fusion restaurant!

I come for the brunch. This is the first Philippine style restaurant I have ever been to, got a really special experience. I love the seasoning of the food here. The marinated steak is really special and taste really good. The pancake is complete Philippine style. I am not sure all people gonna enjoy it but I love it and it worth to try:). The only downside is the waiting time. The day I visited it took me over 45 mins.

I love Filipino food and was so excited when I discovered Tamis. I’m so happy to report how good the food was. It was so filling and everything we ate on their platter was delicious. I wish I had known about this place earlier, but I’ll be back many times. The service was also amazing as was the ambiance.

Had the best brunch that I've ever had with a few add ons: 1 pandan pancake and longanisa. The tapa (sirloin beef) with my brunch was my favorite with the pancake second!!! Cute place, friendly staff and delicious food and desserts!!! We got the desserts to-go as we were too full to eat them then but they looked too good to not get. We be back when we visit again! Make a reservation to not miss out!!

Really tasty food. First time having Filipino food and I enjoyed it! We ordered the Pancit Bihon (rice noodle with stir fry vegetables and added chicken) and the Chicken Inasal. Both were very delicious and they were decent portion sizes. Service (pick up) was nice and prompt. The only thing is I wish we ordered an appetizer as we still craved more food afterwards. Other than that, really good and will definitely come again.

Good portions of food, wonderful customer service, delicious dishes! We tried the brunch - tapa, sausage, and pandan pancakes! Everything was flavorful, although the sausages were a bit under-flavoured (only a bit). Nonetheless, my fam and I had a positive experience and we'll be back to try the regular menu next time we're in Ottawa!

Fantastic food! Everything was delicious and there were no leftovers! One of my new favorite dinner places!

  • 5/5 Audio J. 3 years ago on Google
Loved the food. I asked for pancakes and they brought these two massive souffle style pancakes. It's prettier in person of course. Side was bacon or sausage. The sausage doesn't taste like sausage, don't think it was made from pork. You might like that. Also don't be afraid to ask for maple syrup and other condiments. They will oblige. 4/4. Highly recommended. And the purple cake takes the cake 🎂. They brought a massive slice. For the price I paid everything was massive

For the Southeast Asian culinary enthusiast, this is another one of the "hidden gems" of Ottawa. Their pandan latte and filipino breakfast are a must-try. If you do choose the filipino breakfast, I highly recommend ordering the rice and sausages with it. Perfection.

  • 5/5 Dario G. 4 years ago on Google
Excellent choice of Filipino cuisine to showcase. I found the flavours a bit mild for my taste, would've prefered more ginger and garlic (there's never too much!) I would recommend to anyone looking to try a distinct menu different from other East Asian options in the neighborhood. The venue is welcoming and the staff is pleasant and friendly. I visited for brunch but there are many enticing dinner options as well, will certainly visit again next time I'm in town.
