Parliament hill is my best experience with respect to places. Great experience. We were returning from Montreal and thought have a in car view of city. We loved it so much that we stayed one more night here. Great experience.

Although the main building is currently being renovated you can still tour the House of Commons and the Senate. Tours are free, each building has a separate tour. You can book your tour time online, which I highly recommend, as they were turning away people without advance tickets when we arrived for our early afternoon tour because all of the tickets for the day had been booked. Tours start from the visitors center and you will have to go through a security screening in which all loose and metal objects must be put through a scanner and you must walk through a metal detector - similar to airport security. Allow time for the security lineup or you might miss your tour. Bag size is strictly limited - check dimensions online before coming for your tour. Once inside you proceed to the waiting area until your tour is called, where there is plenty of comfortable seating, restrooms and a gift shop. You will come back through the same room following your tour, so wait until you return to shop. We had a lovely tour guide, Mireille, who was fluent in both English and French and had a thorough knowledge of the architecture, history and trivia related to Parliament - there was a quiz (just for fun). There is no parking at Parliament, so you will need to park at a public garage or take transit (there was a bus stop directly opposite). The tour for each building lasts about 45 minutes and you will be standing and walking the entire time. There are accommodations and options to borrow a wheelchair to use if you don’t think you can stand for so long. A very interesting and educational tour - highly recommend!

A huge historical building (in Canadian standard, that is) which governs all Canada. Free to visit, free parking on the residential streets near by, and definitely beautiful to visit. There are many other buildings to visit near by. Very secure and safe to visit at any time.

The capital of Canada, this area is perched on a hill that overlooks the city, skyline and river. Nice place to walkaround and see the nice government landmark buildings. There is a park nearby that people run, have picnics and just enjoy the nice weather (when there is nice weather). There is also a fire thing in the middle, not sure if that symbolizes anything.

Amazing light shows during Christmas. There are construction going on at this point yet it doesn't dull the beauty of the majestic parliament. Can't wait to go in after the renovation.

What an architecture marvel. The indoor tours are closed due to Covid and the renovation. I did all the indoor tours when I visited Ottawa back in 2019. The Northern lights show is a must if you’re visiting in Summers. Make sure you check out the hill from Nepean Point

The Parliament Hill is under construction for 10 years, so there's no access to the buildings and you can only walk around and view the building. The Parliament Hill's architecture is amazing. It is so impressive when you walk around and see the beautiful details. I would love to come back when the renovations are done and go inside the building and have a full tour and hear more about the history of it.

Very important notice: two of the towers in the parliament hill are under construction till 2026. Make sure you book tours on their website in advance, and be there much earlier. Great place to visit, magnificent buildings.

The guide we had in the central block was terrible due to her rude behavior, and it made the whole tour pretty disappointing. She didn't seem to like to have any kids in her tour group because she frequently told those who had babies not to disturb her, which offended my eye. On the other hand, the guide we had in the East block was super kind. And for the sound and light show, no other show is as fantastic as the one on Parliament Hill in Ottawa. It was the best show ever!

Well.... Another year and the scenery has hardly changed other than the scaffolding being moved to another section of this magnificent structure. I suppose this will be like this for some time. Either way it's well worth the visit. There is still lots to see and do regardless but seeing this building under restoration, and a part of our heritage repaired and preserved, is a comforting sight. I just wish it was finished already and that Covid 19 was behind us because the laser light show displayed on parliament is well worth the drive. My rating would have been 5 stars if not for what I've already mentioned. Perhaps some of my photos will shed light on the joys and wonders this building has to give.

First time to Ottawa, we booked tours of the east and west block buildings. Both were very informative. We also went to the light show at night which was actually really amazing. Beautiful grounds and buildings, even during construction/renovations. I would recommend a trip here.

This place is so beautiful! Loved the experience. Visited with family and everyone enjoyed thoroughly. The washrooms in this area are neatly maintained according to guidelines due to COVID-19. The place itself is very nice and clean and was not too crowded when we visited. We were able to get amazing pictures. we walked around and saw the amazing architectural details on the buildings and were in awe.

One of the most beautiful and picturesque parts of the city. Canadian Parliament Buildings, built in revival Gothic Style are standing proudly atop the hill since the mid-nineteenth century. These buildings are the crown jewel of the cityscape. While a significant portion is currently undergoing extensive renovation and restoration, limiting tourist access, the surrounding park offers a haven of beauty. Despite the construction, immerse yourself in the serene surroundings, capturing the essence of the historic structures in hundreds of captivating photos. Explore nearby culinary delights at food joints, basking in the sun-drenched atmosphere. For those eager to delve into the rich history and architecture, consider pre-booking a guided tour. Unfortunately, we missed out on tickets during our visit, but it's firmly on our agenda for the future.

Worth visiting while in Ottawa. Amazing architecture. Great view of the city and canal from the hill. Renovation in main building are ongoing. Parking nearby coins be an issue. Waking to parliament is much better and you won’t miss anything.

If you are in Ottawa this area is without a doubt the #1 place to visit, as many are already aware of and for good reason. It is home to Canada's Federal Government and you might even get a glimpse of the Canadian Prime Minister! I would recommend walking around the buildings grounds and then heading to the back of the building and down to the water for more beautiful sights!

After moving to Ottawa, I decided to take a day off from work and go spelunking downtown - take in the sights, get an appreciation for the city I was fortunate to call home. If you're an architecture buff, or a wannabe photographer like me (go easy on me) you will thoroughly enjoy trekking around downtown Ottawa on foot. I fortunately, Parliament hill was shrouded in construction equipment and scaffolding, so I wasn't able to get a clear photo - but I will!

Great tourist destination! It's under refurbishments right now, however if you go the the back of the west block, you can get good pictures. Lots of protests happening right now, daily ones. However, they stay at the front, so the west and east blocks are good to go to. Also, there's an amazing walking trail behind the center block, great views.

Parliament hill is a great family tourist area. It’s a nice area to take pictures with the family and it has a lovely view of the water and the big magnificent buildings. YOU CAN NOT GO INSIDE as they are doing construction around the parliament building but there’s many other things to see and check out. Highly recommend going and check it out.

Such a beautiful and historic building with a really big importance for Canada. We went there right after July 1, the Canada day, and they had a light/visual show, explaining the story of how Canada was built, different phases, historic fights, changes in this building itself with very detailed story. You should have at least 35-40 minutes if you ever get the chance to attend this show. During day time, entire hill with parliament buildings just look fabulous.

Wow what an experience! Heads up, there is no parking. I have to park a mile away on the street and feed a meter. There is a ton if construction and renovations in the surrounding areas so be careful and plan ahead to walk. This is not a drive up to the door and park ordeal. You will have to walk. Amazing architecture and beautiful design. Absolutely beautiful and well worth the visit.

Beautiful! Rich in history , under conservation proyect, so will have to be careful. Take the time to explore and enjoy the marvelous work and take pictures, busy during the summer with lots of tourists. Try to be courteous as everyone wants to have a picture of the beautiful building like castles. Happy travels!

A beautiful place and important symbol of country and our democracy. The ongoing renovations severely hampers the experience as cranes disrupt the views and the whole area behind centre block is inaccessible, but these things are part of progress and I look forward to it all being finished

Historic building. Surrounded by similar treasure buildings. Watched the light and sound show "The Northern Lights". Open sitting, nice crowd, nice show. History of Canada through sound and light. 30 minutes is about some of the most important events in Canadian history. Liked the "Fire and Water" fountain, too....

Beautiful historic and iconic building for Canada. I got to view it at the sunset and it was beautiful. They have light shows at night but I wasn’t able to see it. Unfortunately the Parliament is undergoing a major construction project so you are unable to get up close or come inside. Pretty touristy place in Ottawa but plenty of room to walk around and maybe setup a picnic. You can view and photograph from different perspectives if you take the paths on the left and right side. Amazing place which I bet will be even better after construction.

The most iconic place in Ottawa is the Parliament Hill, where the legislative body of the Canadian Government sits. The central block is under renovation, which will last for the next 10 years, and the government meets in the adjacent buildings. Four buildings are open for the public to visit, and prior booking is required. The place is popular with locals for afternoon walks and with tourists to take memorable photos.

It is an interesting space surrounded by a beautiful landscape. The day I went it was closed, so I only saw the outside. Which is already pretty. And nearby there are several cool places to see. So it's worth stopping by and heading to other places in the surroundings, such as the public market.

Went on Sunday at 1030. Traffic was light. Few people. Made a walking loop from Slater and Bank Street up to Wellington through the Parliament grounds and around. Enjoyed seeing some memorial statues, flowers and the Rideau Canal lock system. Too bad the legislature is closed for a 12 year project.

  • 4/5 Roshni R. 11 months ago on Google
Lot of construction works going on, so can’t enjoy the complete beauty of the parliament building from outside now. But as prominent sightseeing spot for tourists the vibe felt really good in and around the area.

Parliament Hill is located in Ottawa on the banks of the Ottawa River and is the home of the Canadian Parliament. It is a historical site with rich history and what is termed gothic revival architecture. There are a number of historic buildings and monuments on the site, inclusing the Peace Tower and Centennial Flame for which I will provide seperate reviews. I recommend going early to avoid the crowds.

Parliament Hill has a fascinating allure. During our days in Ottawa, we often found ourselves here, relishing the atmosphere and using the surroundings for leisurely walks. For those visiting in the summer, it's essential to check if the laser show is happening. The event is free to attend and provides a beautifully presented overview of Canada's history.

What can I say? Simply humbled to call it my place of work... And the West Block, where the House of Commons will assemble during the restauration of Centre Block, is a magnificent testimony to the architectural and engineering expertise of Canadian professionals.

  • 5/5 Johnny C. 10 months ago on Google
Parking is pretty much $15 to $20 CAD at any public parking garage or lot. That's about $11 to $17 USD. I found it a lot easier to use my VISA credit card instead of dealing with having my currency converted. Ottawa is a lot better to visit than Toronto. Toronto is horrible due to the amount of traffic and construction that's currently being done downtown. I would definitely revisit Ottawa.

  • 5/5 Jessica T. 9 months ago on Google
Obviously you have to go to parliament hill if you're visiting Ottawa. It's beautiful, majestic. So much history there. I hope one day to visit and there are no scaffolds up.... but that goes to show how old it is and hiw hard they try to preserve it. The tarps up look like the exterior at least... it is less ugly. Very nice walk around the parliament, path has been upgraded so a smooth walk with a stroller. Nice look out points all around. We did not do a tour - it's hard to get the free tickets and I didn't want to wait in line. One day!

What a beautiful city! I've had a tremendous time in our Capital, Ottawa! Parliament Hill is stunning and the grass is excellent. The community certainly seems to be a tremendous asset with genuine purpose in the Kingdom of God. What a beautiful place to call home, Canada.

  • 5/5 Laurin J. 8 months ago on Google
Was very cool to see the Parliament Buildings up close and in person. The whole square is so much larger than you'd think. I wish we'd been able to see the proper centre block, but it is under its million-year renovation. Also wish we'd had more time to check out the east block and senate. Oldest son was really impressed, seemed to have struck a chord in him... maybe politics are in his future. But this is something every Canadian should see.

Parliament Hill is amazing! The old architecture, the history, the excitement!! We had an amazing day visiting Canada’s Parliament in Ottawa! This is a must see on a visit to Canada’s capital city!

  • 4/5 Nisha A. 8 months ago on Google
There are alot of one ways to reach here! It was very crowded due to long weekend and hard to find the parking so you may need to park far away. This may require a good amount of walking so make sure to wear comfortable shoes and carry water with you if traveling in summers. Didn’t get to visit inside but its was amazing to see the architecture of the building.

  • 5/5 B M A. 3 years ago on Google
This entire area is different, seeing the buildings will make you feel, you are in old time. Full of history. And the way this area is preserved and managed is really nice. Though restoration is in progress in some of the buildings, we couldn’t see through all. Must visit area in Ottawa and for Canadian history.

We stopped by to see the light show that started at 930pm. We were very impressed with the show. They were many people there yet it was still easy to see the event that was projected onto the parliament buildings. There were many police there and they made the area feel safe. Overall I would highly recommend making the effort to see this. We even managed to park relatively close for free

Parliament Hill is an awesome place to visit and soak up some Canadian history. We were able to walk to it from where we were staying to avoid trying to find a parking spot. The grounds are open to walk around. However, they are doing major construction in front and around The Block. A number of the statues and gardens were blocked, but the view of the river was still very nice at sun set. Surprisingly, it was very quiet when we came. So there were no concerns with crowds, lucky us. The Centennial Flame was where the most folks were gathering. To get the perfect photo. We only had to wait a few minutes to get the photo. We didn't do the tour, but just walked the grounds. However, in the past (before Covid 19) we have been here on Canada Day and done the tour. I would recommend both.

(Translated by Google) Breathtaking historical place occupying a large lot with a nice promenade around, but not accessible year round apparently. Good point to note, there are public amenities accessible during the day outside via the promenade. Also note that major works of major restorations to the buildings, accessibility improvements and modernization are underway, and the appreciation of the visual attractions of the site and its surrounding promenade decreases.
